So, recently, I have been (mentally) juggling around the idea of a Roleplay about a force of “space police”. Players will create their own unique character who is a member of this interstellar police force and embark on missions of peacekeeping and security. The setting is in a particularly newly explored star system that is mostly mining colonies and small settlements, and is rife with piracy, smuggling, and the occasional alien encroachment.

BASIC PREMISE: Set in a fictional universe, in the year 2610, the RP focuses around a particularly unstable star system recently explored and settled by the Aqualean (Ack•aye•lee•anne) Union. The system is predominantly composed of planetoids and asteroid belts, however does host several terran and desert worlds. As said, most of the system currently consists of mining colonies, trade posts, and small settlements, be they planetary or orbital.
The system has a heavy presence of pirates, smugglers, and other criminals.
Not to mention occasional raids from aliens in adjacent systems.

The Enforcers, a para-military policing corps, which also act as the protectorate force of the Union, find themselves spread thin and occasionally outmatched by the heavy brigand and alien presence.
In response to this, the Supreme Chancellor of the Union creates an elite
policing force solely based in this system (still working on a name) to ensure security and peace.

PLAYERS: As stated, players will create their own unique character who is a acting member of this force. They will protect convoys, clean up pirate dens, and answer urgent distress calls. When not out on missions, players will basically train or “hang around” the headquarters, adding a slight pub or academy aspect.

So, that’s the basic rundown. I’m hoping to go somewhere with this, so hopefully some of you find this appealing or at least a possibility.
I realize it’s a bit patchy at this moment, but as the title says, this is more of a concept that I’ve put forth and hope to gather interest in.
I plan to collab with those interested and go more in-depth with this.

Hmm, the idea is interesting, sure as sure. Consider me interested.

While a diversity of races would be nice, I feel like people might abuse the whole “create your own alien character” thing.

The last time I created a sci-fi RP and allowed creation of unique alien races, people either flat-out ignored the given guidelines or found a “loophole”. I made it clear that all alien races must be humanoid, and rather “humanistic”, no hive minds, no telepathic powers, nothing like that.
Needless to say it didn’t go well st all, seeing as how virtually every player either disregarded the rules or tried to sell me an excuse for getting their way basically.

My point; if it can be guaranteed that players won’t go crazy with creating alien races, I would allow it.

The robot part, not so much. The alien bit is fine though. I assume your
talking about a two-armed two-legged humanoid alien right? As long as you remain within those basic parameters your fine. I suppose I can allow a modest cybernetic enhancement though. Titanium lined bones, an advanced eye placement with infrared and NVG, perhaps a zoom lens.

That can be accepted @Burning Kitty. Provided the armor/uniform isn’t included. The police force will have a set uniform, which I’m looking into.

For example you say we can model our character after Cyborg from DC but got to give up everything that makes him like Cyborg in anyway. You see how you are fundamentally saying you are picking his skin color and that's it.

I have no issues with the armor. The symbol on the other hand seems like it would fit the military better then a police force.

I'm down with the armor and emblem, though I agree that the emblem looks more of a military symbol, but I'm still liking it.

I also like the look of both though I'm wondering, how much customization would the force allow units to do with their armor? If I wanted to wear a trench coat over it, or paint it a different color would anything like that be allowed?

I’ll look into another emblem, but I’ll keep that one on reserve. 👍🏼

Minor customization yes @Dredigan, a heavy trench coat not so much but a shawl or kind of cape yes. Perhaps instead of the helmet a cap and bandana or a face wrap. Granted helmets would have to be worn in space.

Colors would have to remain untouched and original to remain uniform I’m afraid.
