Is0bel from Shadowrun Returns. She's also a dwarf which makes it even more 'original'. She also doesn't have the cliche 'heterochromia equals special' thing going on.

Once again, as the owner of a heterochromic character, I feel vaguely insulted.

Really excited for Anthem. Don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet but it looks AMAZING.

Don't worry. EA will ensure this is a disaster. I don't care what they've said, you cannot convince me that a loot-driven online (co-op) RPG is not absolute pay-2-win bait. I give it 3 months post-launch before its a money pit.

Anthem will be a mess and will flop. EA-owned Bioware has lost all of its support network at this point.

What a bunch of Grumpy-Gusses.

I admit EA has monetized a lot of games like with bethesda's ESO, and SWTOR, but it's not pay to win necessarily. Of course there's going to be store items but that's how they keep making money to release more content.

I'm still stoked for it. :P

I’ve never seen someone excuse EA’s idiotic business actions and micro-transactions (see: Battlefront 2, and literally charging people money to RUN in The Old Republic). In 2018, it’s kind of absurd to see someone front for EA. Also, given what EA has done to Bioware, being excited for Anthem is just building yourself up for disappointment.

Keep in mind that this is coming from a guy who bought Mass Effect: Andromeda flaws and all on full display during its first week of release.

and SWTOR is free to play, becoming a member just gives you exp bonuses and the store allows you access to the additional races, but those along with everything else in the store can be purchased with gold in the trade-market by playing the game free, including the exp boosters.

People who complain about EA because they reward people who pay real money (god forbid a company get money for their work), when they allow those who don't the ability to get the same things through playing the game, albeit much slower.

If you want to talk about money hungry franchises, look at WoW. But even still they are still in there among top games. So EA should be fine.

I'm wary as hell, but I'm looking forward to One Piece World Seeker. Otherwise, the only game on the foreseeable horizon I'm amped for is Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
The Resident Evil 2 remake looks amazing as well. Never played the original, and I probably won't because I despise tank controls.

I've never played any of their f2p titles so I'm not really commenting on that, but yeah god forbid a company try to monetise something that already costs money. Games shouldn't reward people for dumping money in them, they should reward the people that actually play the game. They should reward the people that actually would've gone for the 40-hour fucking grind that most BF2 heroes required pre-patch. Day One DLC was bad enough, but it's a fucking walk in the park compared to this new trend.

y'all remember online passes in games like farcry 3? it was especially problematic for xbox users since we had to pay for xbox live, and then paying extra for multiplayer? nah. it was one of the dumbest ideas i'd ever seen and i'm so glad it's dead.

not to mention that it severely stunted its value as a used game since what was the point of buying the game if you couldn't access the whole thing without having to pay more for it?

If somehow it ends up being good I will be genuinely shocked. It's not like I want it to fail. I love Bioware. But having hope is hard for me.

It's a good thing that the supposed most egregious offender, that being BF2, didn't do that. Lootboxes were the thing that people last year shouted the loudest about without actually understanding. It didn't matter that they got their information from second hand sources, if it meant being able to call people whales then they were gonna take it. The fact that BF2 got all the heat while NBA 2K18 was barely a blip while being a game that was literally incentivising microtransactions in the single player section of the game is strange but then one of those has Star Wars in the title.

Microtransactions aren't the worst thing but boy is it a hot topic issue for some reason.

You're welcome to disagree, but lootboxes and microtransactions are paths to disingenuous business practices. Full stop. Given I've played SWTOR and NBA2k for what seems like an eternity, I think I have some merit to my issues with it. I’m genuinely pleased Battlefront got the shit it did in the press (Jim Sterling and many others) and I’m thankful that it got EA to get their head out of their ass for five seconds. Now if only others can understand this before gamer apathy sinks them.

Also, NBA2k18 was getting shit on from about all angles for its microtransactions, so I don’t think you know what you’re talking about for once.

I played SWTOR off and on from launch up until KOTET and the microtransactions are the only thing keeping that game going for better or worse, and it's mostly tailored towards people who want to cosplay or have aggressively annoying mounts. Free to play players having to drop five bucks for quality of life stuff is pretty much a staple of F2P MMOs which SWTOR is now since the point is to get players interested and engaged enough to spend the 15 dollars even for a month. The worst part of free to play isn't the lack of a run feature - back in my day we didn't even get the ability to run until level 15 and we had to go through at least Taris/Balmorra and half of Nar before we even got speeders - but the credit limits because the GTN is full of price gouging. You haven't really played SWTOR until you do the Dune Sea without a mount because you don't have 25k credits and you're in shitty gear because no one runs flashpoints due to no group finder.

And despite the microtransactions, NBA 2K18 still did well critically and seemed to basically fly under the radar compared to BF2 and Shadow of War by virtue of more eyes being on those games.
