▴Upbringing Synopsis
Kavan Varma was born into wealth. From the very moment the young man was born in India to Vihaan and Ruhi Varma, he has been spoiled rotten. Due to their father's booming retail chains and stakes in a range of companies, Kavan and his elder sister have been living comfortably their entire lives. They resided in a fairly large house in New Delhi until Kavan was about ten years old; Vihaan Varma announced his plan to expand his businesses to the United States and decided to move his family to Florida. It took Kavan and his sister a while to adjust to their new home; the two were often bullied by the neighborhood kids and their classmates due to their heavy accents. As Kavan grew older, his accent would begin to fade, but the scars left by years of childish torment would last forever.
Kavan didn't have many friends throughout elementary and middle school, which led him to focus more on his academics and extra curricular activities than his social life. It was during that period that Kavan found a passion for writing and an affinity for rock music. He was ten years old when his sister gifted him his journal, and twelve when he received his very first bass guitar. His success in learning how to play eventually led to him getting paid to play at the weddings or parties of family members, which in turn gave him the confidence boost that he needed. The year before Kavan began Freshman year, Kavan's father moved the family yet again; this time, they only moved down the street to a wealthy gated community called Crown Heights. Kavan entered high school a new man; though he was still a bit reserved and mysterious, he was more confident in his actions and no longer took shit from anyone. He even grew up to be quite the charmer like his father.

Archer Diedrikson
"DECEMBER 12TH, 2018
A whole lot can change in the blink of an eye.
It seems like it was just yesterday that I stood by Archer's car, watching him duck behind the door in a failed attempt to hide from the curious gaze of Johnny Baxter. And at that time, I simply couldn't explain why I'd suddenly felt the urge to flash the other boy a lewd gesture as he obnoxiously paraded around and pointed his camera at everyone who walked by; I didn't know why I'd begun to feel sick to my stomach, as if I'd eaten some bad curry the night before. I should've realized back then why I had such a strong dislike for Johnny-boy. I should've admitted to myself, if no one else, just how I felt about Archer.
We'd been friends for so long, it was as if I were too scared to tell anyone the truth. Not only was I scared of being rejected and potentially ruining our relationship, but I was also scared of what everyone else would think. My classmates, our friends, my parents... How differently would they all see me if they knew that I was attracted to men? What would my father say or even do to me if he ever found out about my relationship?
Relationship. I am in a relationship with Archer Diedrikson. As we continue to spend more time together, I can feel myself starting to fall in love with him. And even though part of me still worries about my parents' approval and the opinions of those I care about, I still know deep down that no matter what obstacles life decides to throw my way, I'll be able to get through them as long as I have him by my side."

13 year old me never would have thought that I'd grow to have as many friends as I do now, especially not those who call themselves the Misfits. They're fun, they're loyal, they're absolutely crazy... and there's (almost) nothing in the world that I wouldn't do for them."

Ryland Aspen ☼ Acquaintances
↳ "In the past, Sonny and I were never friends despite me always hanging around him and the rest of the group. He constantly picked on me and Archer, and even though the stereotypical gay and Egyptian jokes never really bothered me as much as they could have, it still got pretty old after a while. Anyway, things changed for the better at the Halloween party; he apologized for all that he's done in the past, and even kicked Bradley Leone's ass for hurling a bunch of homophobic remarks at Archer. If you ask me, I think he's a changed man."
Marisol Castillo ☼ Friends
↳ "I've known Marisol for just about as long as I've known Archer; the two were kinda like a package deal. At first, I just saw Mari as one of Archer's closest friends. You know... one of the Misfits. But over time we developed our own sort of friendship, and now that Archer and I are finally together it'll probably grow a bit stronger."
Ariel Grey ☼ Friends
↳ "Ariel and I have never been the closest out of the bunch, but I do greatly enjoy her presence. We share a love for writing, so it's nice to have another person to compare pieces with and ask for constructive criticism."
Ryland Aspen ☼ Acquaintances
↳ "For as long as I've known the Misfits, Ryland has been considered one of them by association... sort of like me. Most of what I know about him is from things Archer has told me, so I'm excited to get to know him on a deeper level now that he's spending an entire semester at King's."

It's nice having a handful of people that I can call my friends. It wasn't too long ago that I was just that weird Indian kid who spent most of his time with his head in a book. Now, I've learned that there are some perks to stepping outside of the library every now and then."

↳ "Jasper's been a pretty solid friend of mine for a while. We've got a lot in common. Sometimes I joke around about starting a band or something with him."
Carter Newton ☼ Friends
↳ "Carter and I both have a passion for writing; I met him Sophomore year in our creative writing class, and he really blew me away when we started on our Spoken Word poetry unit. He's taught me a little of what he knows, and always invites me to open mic nights, but I haven't really worked up the confidence to actually perform one of my poems just yet."
Chrissie McCoy ☼ Friends
↳ "Shortly before the end of the semester, I attended the annual Fall play, which ultimately inspired me to inquire about joining the Drama Club in an effort to learn more about the theatre and a future in playwriting.Chrissie was kind enough to take me to an after party, which marked the beginning of their friendship. I don't really know what finally possessed me to approach Chris and ask her about the club, but I'm glad that it happened. She's already taught me a lot in such a short period of time."
Stella Lambert ☼ Friends
↳ "What I've always liked about Stella is that she's a genuine person, and always seems to have a smile on her face. She's sat with us at lunch in the past, so I've gotten to chat with her quite a bit. I'm not so sure why Mari dislikes her so much; I, for one, really appreciate having her positive energy around me."
Nicole Milano ☼ Friends
↳ "Nicole... she's a special one, that's for sure. She's truly a kind-hearted and sweet girl, though. She always gives me compliments on my eyeliner, and even likes reading my work from time to time even though she doesn't understand most of it."

There are a lot of people at King's Academy that I don't know well enough to call friends. Some of them I hardly know at all. And sure, I'm open to building relationships with a good number of these people... I just don't think I'm quite sure how to go about it."

↳ "Kavi's a pretty chill guy, and his parties are always legendary."
The Unholy Trinity ☼ Acquaintances
↳ "Who doesn't know of The Unholy Trinity? You may not know them all personally, but you certainly know who they are. First, there's Chanel: the diva who loves fashion, dance, and... cheerleading? Then there's Julie, who a lot of people tend to call the 'Ice Queen' of King's, but I for one admire deeply. And last, there's April, who knows more about cars than your average male and also happens to be carrying the child of the school's 'Candy Man.' Quite the trio indeed."
Sawyer Lockwood ☼ Acquaintances
↳ "I don't know Sawyer all too well... Hell, I only know who he is because of his brother. I wonder how Gavin is?"
Georgia Fielders ☼ Acquaintances
↳ "She's a sweet girl, that's for sure. She likes listening to me play my music, so that's cool."
Jack Goff ☼ Acquaintances
↳ "Don't know the guy, and probably won't ever get to know him any more than I already do. He doesn't seem like the type of person that I'd enjoy hanging around."
Max Wallenberg ☼ Classmates
↳ "I only know Max because he's Archer's cousin, and I sometimes hear him talking about him. I haven't gotten the chance to actually speak to him, though."
Shawna Josi ☼ Classmates
↳ "I remember Shawna being a really smart girl. Pretty sure we had a few classes together. But something happened and she just... fell off. Carter tells me that she's one of his top customers."
Sunshine Hollingsworth ☼ Classmates
↳ "I don't know her all that well, so I can't really say I have an opinion on her as of right now."
Ariana Mossos ☼ Classmates
↳ "Of course I know who Ariana is; who doesn't? She's gorgeous, she's the head cheerleader, she's the captain of the volleyball team... I don't know her all too well personally, though, but I'm open to that changing."
Santiago Fernandez ☼ Classmates
↳ "I know who he is and some of the infamous things he has done. That's about it, though. Congrats on the whole fatherhood thing."
