"Aye, Sir!" Kai responded with a curt nod.

The other two were about to get their weapons out as well. With the grownups presumably behind him, he proceeded to scramble up a pile of crates near the entrance of the tavern to get to the roof of it. Once there, he quickly scanned the area below, again catching sight of the figure in all black. That must be the spy. The boy then took off after the figure over the adjacent rooftops, his pistol fully out in his hand. He got ready to fire the weapon once he could get a good shot. He made a note to himself that he should probably not shoot to kill, for this mysterious person might be able to lead them to something bigger.

Ratte nodded at Isago and pulled up her hood as she stepped back. "I'll keep to low first, then jump to the rooftops. Maybe he'll follow us if we're on the ground. Kai can keep lookout whilst we're both on the ground, then i'll join him once he's following." She watched Kai scramble to the rooftop and briefly admired his agility before she too took off into the shadows. She hoped that this would draw the stranger out alone and wouldn't encourage him to bring friends. So far, they looked like they were splitting to head home, or at least she hoped that was what they looked like. She drew her dagger just in case and made her way through the alleyway behind the tavern, ears sharp and listening for footsteps. She couldn't make out Kai's above her, but she could hear the thud of Isago and waited for a third set to appear.

The black demon was not only known for his cruelty but his ability to know things that few others do. Rumors stated that he had spies everywhere. So most people weren't too suspicious when rumors of spies began circulating through the city. Griffin planned to use those rumors to his advantage. Not that he knew jack about spying. But he could use the spies. All he had to do was appear to be one of the Demon's lieutenants. Which should be too hard. He fit the description that the rumors said. Since few knew who the demon truly was it wasn't like the spies could verify that they were giving the wrong person the information. The first thing he had to do was be seen, not an easy thing for someone who was used to living in the shadows but something he could do. He walked up to the tavern owner and ordered the most expensive drink available.

Jason was noticing that most of the people of that group were drawing attention to him, so Jason decided to get out of there as quick as possible. Knowing he wouldn't be able to hear their plans or follow them, but Jason knew that the major part his plan was changing was aright. He planned to stay above the Tavern for a little bit on the roof, then he would follow one of them without being noticed. If all goes well he should find what there are talking about and where their meetng is.

Hearing out Ratte's strategy, Isago agreed to let her do her thing. He wanted to make sure they were going to corner and catch him while they were at it. Seeing Kai rush to pursue the figure, Isago had his sword out and started to follow along to see where this individual would rush to. Was this guy with the figure who was rumored to have taken down the black widow? trusting people were becoming increasingly hard but he had no choice but to give his partners who he handled a heist with the benefit of doubt. Running along, Isago kept his eyes and ears on alert wondering if this guys was alone. there was no telling if they were running into an ambush.

When the footsteps didn't follow, Ratte stopped and hesitated. She tried to look for the others but found that they were very good at what they did and were well hidden. She carefully stepped out of the shadows and stepped back through the alley towards the tavern again. She bit her lip and twitched her nose impatiently when she found that their target was no longer in sight. He must have slipped out the other way when they scattered. She pulled down her hood and looked again for Isago and Kai, then decided to try whistling to get their attention. She knew it was risky, but hopefully they would have the advantage of seeing anyone sneaking up on her if they caught the whistle too. She whistled three times, sharp and long.

Inside the tavern, the Captain of the Guard stepped up to the bar and set his helmet down. His feet were beginning to ache after having been on them nearly all day and he was parched. He settled on a seat beside a stranger @KatherinWinter and ordered himself an ale. He took a long drink when it arrived and set it down again with a satisfied sigh. It was good to relax. Rumours of the new 'Black Demon' were stirring up the people and he had been constantly seeing to scared people and petty disturbances, rather than making any real headway on finding this new annoyance. He looked around the bar, then to the stranger and he chuckled, "It's quite the crowd in tonight. Good to see some people in good spirits, rather than scared of black demons and silly stories about petty thieves. Are you in alone tonight?" he asked.

The figure in black was fast, and extremely skillful. Kai did his best to keep up with them, but knew that he was about to lose them very soon. If he was to incapacitate them, he had to do it now. Without thinking any further, he cocked his pistol, took aim to the best of his ability, and fired. The sound of the gunshot rang through the deserted, dimly-lit area. The boy mentally kicked himself when he found that he had missed and let the figure get away. He had also possibly drawn unnecessary attention to himself by firing the gun. He then heard three whistles in a row, their source being the alley where he and the two grownups had left in pursuit of the mysterious spy. Seeing how there was not much left to do, he returned to the tavern area to investigate the origin of those whistles.

Peering over the tavern roof, he was relieved to see that it was Ratte who had been the one whistling, and dropped down to join her. "I couldn't stop the spy. They've gotten away with vital information about us. I... don't know where we can go now that we've been found out. I'm sorry."

Did they lose him? the gunshot that could be heard made Isago stop and stay hidden for a moment to make sure no one else were coming to step in thanks to the shot that rang out. Was it necessary? Maybe so if the guy was too fast. Isago stayed hidden for a few moment before hearing the whistle. That must've been Ratte since he was hearing it from the initial area he remembered seeing her go. Isago cautiously came out and eventually made it back to the tavern area to hear Kai apologize.

Isago looked at the two. "It's fine...listen...I figured something like this would happen so I know of another place we can stay for now. If we go now...we shouldn't be made out." He told them.

Not too far away, someone was looking through their scope at the boy that ran away. He looked like he was chased but...he got away. I knew that boy was useful. And he managed to get away. Black Demon won't be disappointed. But...I bet if these people were smart, they'll move...they just better hope they don't run into us. otherwise...we'd be forced to push them out. Not that I'm against it but the boss wants us to be...quiet The individual said. Ain't that right, Flying Edge? A smile came from a woman that was with this male Hmph...
Let's get in a closer look shall we? Jumping off the roof with this female with him.

Griffin looked up when the captain the guard sat beside him. He was glad that he wasn't known in this area. His wanted picture had never made it this far East. There was no reason for the captain to suspect that he was anything but another tavern patron. "I agree it is nice to see people relaxing. But I don't know if I agree that the stories are silly. The Black Demon is a real person. I have seen his work myself. As the captain of the guard I would think that you would take such rumors seriously even if there was a chance they were just stories."

Ratte nodded at Isago. She was getting tired and so was feeling more and more on edge. They needed to rest and decide what to do next. "Is it close? I'd like to get some kind of food before we do go to your hideout, I haven't eaten today. We could do with getting a few provisions too just in case we end up running somewhere." She looked around again, looking for signs of someone approaching or watching them. It seemed as though they were alone for now.

The captain frowned, taking a long swig from his ale. He watched Griffin carefully, "You're saying you've seen something being blamed on this 'demon' or you have seen the black demon himself? Because this town is full of copycats and phoneys. Everyone is trying to get ahead and copy the big guys to impress their friends and get their hands on a bit more gold. I don't believe in rumours, I believe in facts." He sighed and drained the glass of ale, then waved at the bar tender for a refill.

Kai's eyes lit up when Isago provided them with an option that would keep them safe. Right now, they had no choice but to trust one another to avoid getting caught, and them successfully pulling of the heist planned by Roxy was proof that they worked well together, except for tonight, of course, when they let that spy listen in on their discussion and then failed to stop them from getting away with the information. It had been something they did not expect, after all. This time, they had to be ready for anything. From experience, the boy did not do well with losing his teammates and companions. The crew he had grown up with was wiped out, and now, they had possibly lost Roxy as well. Isago and Ratte were all he had, and he was going to do whatever it would take to keep them around.

At Ratte mention of food and provisions, he was then reminded of the basement, and started to move over to the trapdoor leading to it. "That's a good idea Ma'am. Perhaps I should slip back down real quick and grab a few supplies for us before we move over."

Isago looked between the two seeing that they didn't mind going to where Isago mentioned. Ratte's question made Isago look around a little to make sure no one was listening again. "There's two places...one is an old stable and cheap whore house and that's not very very far from here. If you don't want that place, I have another at the harbor. That's if that's too far for you?" He said "Both places I've stayed at if I had something going on close by. and agreed...we can gather what we need and get food as well. But of course...food can be first" He offered.

Isago looked down at Kai. "Just be careful and be quick...we have no idea who are all out here." He mentioned.

On the way to the area, the male that watched from a distance came with his partner to get a closer look. They rushed from their position while the others were on their way to meet up. It was by this time while the three were talking, the two managed to get into the general area when Kai mentioned slipping down to get something. The male who was with the one he called "Flying edge", smirked and signaled the woman to be on the watch. There was a little surprise in the basement for young Kai when he'd come in. When this surprise is found, perhaps, they could make their move on the other two adults.

"I've met the Black Demon and seen his work." Griffin explained as he took a drink of the ale that was placed in front of him. The Black Demon was appropriately named. He was a cruel man. More cruel than most people could imagine a human being cable of. "If he is in your town then there will be trouble soon. If he hasn't already start to threat then king than he will. This man knows no boundaries. He is capable of cruelties few can even think of let alone do."

Ratte smiled across to Kai, "That would be amazing, kiddo. We can always stop by a different tavern and get something if what you have isn't enough." She pulled her hood back up and turned to Isago. She felt a smirk curling at the edge of her mouth and bit her lip. It had been a long time since she had been to a whore house. She found that most were far too expensive for her, but now that she had a little more gold it was a little more tempting. "A whore house sounds very appealing... though it might scar the kid for life... unless you have a friend there that can look after him for a while and not try to ruin him with indecency he's too young for." She grinned and switched from watching Kai to Isago slowly.

The captain sighed and took another long gulp of his ale after it was set down before him. He had spent his day chasing down petty thieves and scare-mongerors. He was beginning to regret his decision to sit next to yet another one, "So I have heard. But we are yet to have any real leads on his whereabouts, so unless you have any information on that, please.. spare me the scary speech. I've seen what he's capable of." His eyes wandered from the tavern's rowdy gents and their loud games to a back door where he believed the basement was. He frowned, seeing shadows beneath the door and glanced back to check that the barkeep was indeed behind the bar. He didn't remember seeing anybody going through the door. He frowned and put his ale down, "Well that is most sinister behaviour indeed," he muttered, standing up to go and inspect it, "do forgive me, Sir but I may have spotted something suspicious..."

Kai gave Ratte a confused look at her mention of this 'whore' house possibly ruining him. He would have to ask what that word meant at a later time, but considering the violence and gore had been exposed to as he was growing up, he wondered what could be so frightening about the place that would cause her to think he could not handle it. He was curious to know what could be more traumatizing than witnessing the eradication of his old crew, if it truly was so, though, the harbor sounded really appealing to him. It was no secret to the rest of the group that the boy enjoyed being near the water.

"We could stay by the harbor?" He repeated excitedly. "I would be interested to have a look there as well."

After getting the approval of the adults, Kai threw the trapdoor open and slipped in. The moonlight flooded in, allowing most of the area to be visible. However, the teen was so focused on doing what he had to do quickly that he paid no attention to the pitch-black corners of the room. He was startled by the sudden sound of the trap door slamming shut, and the place immediately turned dark. He then hardly had the time to make any sense of what had just happened before he was grabbed.

The struggle was aggressive but short, for Kai had managed to reach for his cutlass and drive it into the flesh of one of his attackers. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he took the opening he had created to break away from them and scrambled over to the stairs leading to the tavern counter. He could hear them pursuing him as he did so, and there was no guarantee that he would make it out in time. With that in mind, the boy whipped out his pistol and pointed it at what he could now make out as one man and one woman, hoping to goodness that they would not figure out that it was not loaded.

"S- Stay away from me!" He snapped at them, trying to hide his agitation as he prepared to bolt up the stairs and out the door.

Griffin shrugged. If the captain didn't want his advice that was fine. It didn't matter to him. He wasn't in charge of protecting the innocent. Although he supposed in a way he was doing that though. He was trying to catch the Black Demon. He had his own griff with the man. Not that it mattered. He was here to do a job. Hopefully that job would give him what he needed to take the Black Demon and his friends down. He stood up intending to leave the tavern when the other man indicated that he saw something in the basement. He was sure it wasn't the crew he was looking for. At least not all of them.

Curious he raised headed to the door. He didn't wait for the captain or permission from the tavern owner. He opened the door. The basement was dark which wasn't unusual but his eyes quickly adjusted. He saw movement. Two adults and what appeared to be a teen. Was that the one who had ran out or another? It was too dark to tell but he had a feeling that it was the teen from the group. Maybe he could use the kid to get close to the group. "Two against one seems like unfair odds. Why don't we move this outside and even up the odds abit."

(Guys I'm so sorry for my lateness and neglect)

Isago found it a little amusing that Ratte was worried about ruining Kai's so-called innocents. He most likely killed before and have been in battles but...Isago figured a little piece of ass wouldn't hurt him. "Well it is part of an old stable. whores aren't all over the place, just on the inside under the stable. The stable itself is just a front if you want him to stay there instead." he added. "But being a man that he is...I think he can handle it but...in the end...I'm not gonna make that call. It's up to Kai and if I'm not around...you have a full say in it, Ratte." he looked over winking at her.

He was about to wait up and nodded to Kai. "We can try the harbor later. I just have a feeling we would get caught if we attempted to go there now." he told Kai. When Kai went into the basement, Isago crossed his arms. He chuckled for a moment. "I feel like we are parents trying to decide on what's best for our son..."

Inside the basement, Isago couldn't hear what was going on down there at first but there were indeed two people down there.

Both must've been assassins but the male ended up with an injury as the female tried assisting to stop the boy from leaving. Isago noticed how the door was shut immediately and this caught his attention. he spoke. "Boy? Are you okay?" he asked hering Kai sound a bit panicked telling someone to stay away from him, Isago looked at Ratte. "Shit!!" He said reaching for the trap door only for an arrow to hit it to stop him from going in as a man with a spear rushed at Isago, making the man pull out his own blade to defend against it. "Ratte, get to the boy...be careful!!" he said.

Yes Ratte...be careful...because Flying Edge got her eyes on you!! he chuckled as two more arrows came down towards Ratte. Isago, using his strength, knocked the spear's edge out the way and spoke. "Who the hell are you? Let me guess...you work for Black Demon!?"

Hm? You guys already know about us? "What do you expect when rumors goes around that you guys are here. Were you the ones that went after Black Widow!!?"

My you are full of questions...are you need to know is that Jobba the Butcher is gonna kill ya!!

On Kai's end, the guy that was stabbed was hurting and starting to bleed out some as the girl readied her blade but she stood still wondering if he actually had a shot in there. "You wanna shoot me boy...go ahead...if you manage to get one of us...the other will take you out." She challenged him.

Ratte smirked at Isago’s comment. She shook her head and relaxed back a little, “I would be a terrible mother.. I hate screaming babies for one.” She watched as Isago went to check the basement, then immediately took a defensive stance and pulled out her dagger when Isago swore and stepped back from the basement followed by a spear-wielding man in black. That thing was huge! She stepped forwards to get through to Kai but flinched back when the arrows almost caught her toes. She shot a venomous look at this assassin when he said her name. “You son of a..” Anither arrow cut her off and she stepped back, quickly looking for the shooter.

Her instinct was to run and she could feel her feet itching to do so. But the kid was alone down there and she had just seen another man slip down into the basement from the bar. @KatherinWinter She gritted her teeth. She wouldn’t be able to get to the basement with an archer on her back, so she turned to face her instead.

“Shouldn’t pretty girls like you be serving beer?” She goaded, before searching for a way to at least knock her out. There were plenty of wooden planks around in the alley, so she picked one up. Hand the hand combat wasn’t normally her style, but she was worried about the kid. She stepped towards the archer, getting ready to run at her, hoping that archery was her only strength.

Kai took a step up the stairs while facing his attackers, before answering the one who had spoken to him. "How about neither of you move till I'm out, and the both of you can get out of this alive?"

He was depending on the condition that neither of them would attempt to take him out at the expense of their partner's safety, though, if they would... then he would be out of ideas. He heard Isago's voice calling to him through the trapdoor, and then sounds of struggle following right after. It was apparent that he and the other two were having trouble getting to each other. Why did he even suggest slipping back down to the basement? That had to be the worst idea he had in a long time, but who could have known that the information about them that had leaked could have been transmitted so quickly?

Suddenly, the door behind him opened and light from the tavern flooded in. The silhouettes of two men could be seen at the door, and one of them spoke in a way that seemed that he wanted to offer Kai some aid. The teen did not wait to confirm this, however, and took the opportunity given to him by the unexpected interruption to dash up the stairs. He ducked between the men, hoping to exit the establishment through the front doors.

The Captain frowned, seeing the stranger he had been talking to walking around as though he owned the place. He was tired of hoodlums and rogues trying to prove themselves worthy of more of a status than they already had. He caught up and stood beside Griffin, peeking inside the basement. He then looked up to see a huge person wielding an enormous spear, a huge man being followed by said man and a smaller person jumping back from arrows. He was about to suggest helping them when Griffin spoke. He frowned, “How do you know what side they are on?” He asked, before a young boy suddenly jumped at them and tried to scramble past.

He whirred into action and he grabbed the boy by the collar, then pulled him close into a tight lock, “Not so fast you little thief! What have you been up to down in that basement? What’s going on here?!” He demanded, keeping Kai locked in a tight grip. He looked to Griffin for back-up in holding the kid, he was a squirmy thing.
