Erm... it's not too late to join, right? And if I'm going to join, would it be okay to do so with a character that's from an entirely new 'chunk'? One that has nothing to do with the three-letter horror show, save for it being a TV show in said chunk?
I dare you to make an Equestria Girls character. Double dog dare you. <_<
I'm actually a bit unsure about posting. First off, this includes a new chunk near the one everyone's on, and second off... well, let's just say my character is unique.
Appearance Description: Trevor stands at 5' 7", and he has a rather slim frame (due to being able to fly), weighing in at only 150lbs. He has dark blue scales covering most of his body, and a lightning bolt-shaped pattern of white scales running down to the left and to the right of the tougher, light blue, plate-like scales that cover the front of his neck, his chest, his stomach, and the bottom of his tail. He has a wingspan of 11', and said wings, as well as his shoulders, and his back near his shoulders are covered in white feathers... he also has feathers going down the middle of his back, all the way to the tip of his tail, ending in two somewhat long feathers at the very tip of his tail. His eyes are a contrasting, somewhat bright orange color, save for his slit-shaped pupils, which are, of course, black. His claws are a somewhat short 3", and he stands on two legs, with his feet, for some reason, being digitigrade. He typically wears blue jeans, and a plain, solid-colored T-shirt, and he stopped wearing shoes ever since he became a dragon.
Personality: He's usually a happy go lucky guy, quick to laugh, slow to anger, honest, typically gets along with most people just fine, and he doesn't even take insults personally, however, there's just one thing he can't stand... horses. He hates anything horse-shaped, not to mention any horses from a specific show that will not be named here... for some reason, horses just induce rage in the guy, and thus far, they're the only things that have ever successfully done so.
Backstory: Before the people in his chunk changed, Trevor lived a mostly uneventful, boring life, though, funnily enough, he had anger control problems as a kid, and the bullies in his early schools knew it. Usually, they'd pick on him for a bit, get him to attack them, and then get Trevor in serious trouble because he was also bad at explaining things, and the teachers used to think he was a liar, even if that wasn't the case. Despite this, he still got good, or even great grades in school, and went on to finish college... yup, everything seemed to be looking up for him. It was as if nothing could go wrong, or even make the job he was studying for just go away.
Of course, things never last, and so, on July 3rd 2017, the chunk that his town was on discovered a strange artifact, and there was a meteor heading right for the town... with the town running out of options, they tried to launch the artifact at the meteor, and it seemed to actually work, breaking artifact, but also the meteor... that was ALSO when all the people of his chunk started changing into random, mythical creatures of varying kinds (though, notably, there were no unicorns)... this also seemed to disable guns, and most 'modern' technology, unfortunately for Trevor, that included computers, too.
His first day as a dragon seemed like a haze to Trevor, the most he could recall was meeting up with his friend, fighting some random creatures over a piece of the artifact, and then teleporting to some sort of mines, which, at first, he assumed was just one of the mines around town. Of course, it wasn't, these mines were filled with three-foot-tall venomous spiders, living piles of rocks, and the friendly, if awkward, mole people. After talking to a few of them, and learning a skill that ended up helping him get to a portal to take him home, he headed there, fighting a giant ghost dragon over that SAME piece of the artifact, which, as it turns out, also teleports itself when someone tries to take it. It wasn't an easy fight, with the ghost also having possessed his friend for a while to fight him, but he came out victorious in the end, and he went back home... only to find some weird darkness gathering in the skies above.
A weird light from the artifact piece suggested that IT could help, somehow, so the two friends decided to head off to complete the thing, once more. In their travels, they went through deserts, ocean planets, worlds made entirely of metal, an endless jungle, literal purgatory, and a planet covered with volcanoes and magma, also having to fend off against insane cults, intelligent, big, yet still venomous snakes, a champion from a gladiatorial arena, too many identical-looking robots, a stick figure who could draw anything into existence... they also found a couple of others to join them on their journey, Miles, a fast, sharp-clawed snake creature, and Monica, an icy phoenix, and the team's healer. Eventually, they had to face off against the the evil being that was trying to destroy the planet, unaware that it was just a chunk, but hey, everyone was, at the time, and it also sought to destroy the artifact that the party just finished piecing together, but, eventually, it was beaten down, not only by the four that have gathered, but also by Trevor's younger brother, who had, up until this point, been duped into collecting orbs that the evil creature needed to regain his full power.
They had just finished defeating the thing a few days ago, and it was finally time for a break. The town had been mostly rebuilt from the anarchy that destroyed it when everyone changed, and there were now portals to a bunch of different worlds in the town thanks to Trevor's travels, which led to a bunch of weird aliens visiting the town from time to time, but he didn't want to deal with any of that, he just wanted to stay home, and rest... of course, this rest wasn't going to last, as one night, Trevor was on the roof of his house, looking at the night sky, only to see several presumably alien ships land somewhere oddly close to Lucky City, and, as the city's dedicated hero, he had to make sure they were taken care of, one way or another. Trevor took his backpack of holding, and left to the east, not that he actually knew how to tell directions, at all. Soon enough, he came across the mountains on that side of the town, and once he made it to the top of one of them, he looked out, only to see space... and a floating chunk of ground a somewhat long distance away. He had no idea if he could survive, but he had to, so, he took the artifact out of his backpack, and used its power to teleport him to somewhere in the middle of that chunk... however, for some reason, that teleportation left the artifact behind.
power section- Trevor has good control over his lightning magic, and... er... okay control over his fire magic.
In that chunk, magic comes in twelve different elements, and each mythical creature on that chunk can use either one or two, no more, and no fewer. The elements are as follows...
??? is one that I honestly can't find a name for. It involves the creation of creatures or objects via some type of art tool IE: someone who uses a pencil to create a rocket that they then shoot at their enemies.
Skills: Trevor knows how to cook some basic things, as well as how to make a couple different orbs of magic, those being fire and lightning, which explode into their respective element once they break. He is also pretty good at hand-to-hand combat, and, due to his control over electricity, as well as his computer skills, he can pretty much do anything he wants with anything even remotely computer-related... as in, say, an electronic lock on a door, or a hostile robot.
Traits: Trevor is an excellent flier, and his scales bring his defenses up from 'absolute garbage' to 'mediocre', at least, so there's that. His claws, while small, are also incredibly tough and sharp, capable of slicing through a one foot thick sheet of solid steel if he uses them correctly. Trevor is also highly fire resistant, and completely immune to electrical attacks or shocks... he is, however, extremely weak to icy skills and spells.
Powers: Trevor's power set is sort of all over the place, with several physical attacks, several magical attacks, some that mix them together, and even a healing spell, of all things. Maybe Trevor just needs to learn to focus on a few skills rather than invent a bunch of them.
Notes: He also has limited magic, or MP if you've ever played an RPG, before. This color indicates a skill that costs NO magic. This color indicates a skill that costs A LITTLE magic. This color indicates a skill that costs SOME magic. This color indicates a skill that costs A LOT of magic.
One-Two punch: A basic couple of jabs with nothing too special about them. They're the main attack that he'll use when he's out of magic.
Right Hook: This attack has Trevor attempt to bash his enemy's skull with a powerful haymaker. He even speeds up this attack with his lightning magic when he uses it.
Sky Slam: This attack has Trevor attempt to grab his enemy, and then fly up as high as he can, sending them downwards as he swoops down and kicks them... he uses his fire magic during this attack to make it almost seem like his opponent is re-entering the atmosphere.
Shocking Grasp: Much like the spell in a certain pen and paper RPG, Trevor creates a bunch of sparks around his claws... unlike the spell, however, he then proceeds to either grab onto his opponent with said electric claws, or slash at them.
Slice and Dice: Trevor... borrowed... this attack from one of his friends, Miles. Basically, it has him entering an enraged state, and just slashing at his opponent with his claws pretty much non-stop. This skill can only be used on one opponent at a time, and if Trevor knocks out his opponent during this attack, he snaps out of the enraged state, and ends that attack.
Dash Slash: Another move that wasn't originally Trevor's... this one has him use his lightning magic to speed by, and slice as many opponents as he possibly can with the short burst of speed his magic allows for.
Zap Gun: A basic magical attack where Trevor focuses his electricity into his right index claw, and then shoots that electricity at the opponent. He'd look like a child playing a game if the lightning didn't shoot out.
Thunderstorm: This spell has Trevor create lightning in random spots near his enemies... he tends to end up creating about ten lightning bolts before calling the attack off. Notably, he doesn't need to be under any clouds for this spell to work, and can even perform it in a cave, or a building.
Persistent Bolt: This spell has Trevor creating a HUGE lightning bolt... and using extra magic to make sure that it stays where he created it for at least a second, most likely dealing massive damage to whomever or whatever he hits with it.
Chain Lightning: This spell, just like a spell from, er, elsewhere, this spell has Trevor send a lightning bolt at one of his enemies... only to have it bounce off of said enemy and into another one, again and again until someone can get rid of it, somehow.
Energize: This spell has Trevor heal himself, and all allies using his lightning magic... yes, it even heals purely physical wounds, somehow. It also cures any non-permanent paralysis, and wakes up any sleeping allies.
Fire Breath: A basic skill in which Trevor breathes fire on his enemy... not much more to add, really.
Flame Drill: A skill that has Trevor fly at something, while spinning with his claws in front of him, and while breathing fire to super-heat said claws... this skill can punch through solid steel, however, it also leaves him dizzy, and liable to miss often after its use.
Sticky Bomb: A spell that has Trevor creating a bomb by somehow condensing his fire breath into the palm of his hand... he then tosses the bomb at someone, after which, it explodes on them, and anyone else who happened to be nearby. This spell leaves Trevor exhausted after its use, and basically unable to fight.
Meteor Swarm: A spell that has Trevor create fireballs above random locations said locations could be above enemies... or allies... really, anyone. This spell is powerful, but liable to hit allies as WELL as enemies, unfortunately.
Plasma Uppercut: Trevor creates hot, green plasma by combining his lightning magic, and his fire magic... he then promptly puts his fist in the resulting plasma... just to give a SERIOUSLY powerful uppercut to one enemy. It's hot enough to melt flesh, and... is only ever usable as a last-ditch move. Said move also completely knocks out Trevor, and leaves some serious burns on his own hand, afterwards. Of course, in his words, the move is still "completely worth it".
Equipment: - Basic clothing: The clothes which have already been described above, however, I'm adding them here, as well just to say that they're fireproof... just so I won't have to have them constantly burn up.
- Backpack of holding: A backpack with seemingly infinite space inside. It is, however, only capable of storing non-living things, such as objects, or food, and said thing has to be smaller than the backpack for it to hold it in the first place.
- A bunch of random food: Stored in the backpack is a bunch of food ranging from burgers to fries, pizza, water bottles... a bunch of stuff like that. Trevor will not have to worry about getting hungry for, well, a little bit longer than most.
oh hi, sorry I took a while to respond XD my time was shortened for a while between RL stuff and preparing the next post XD
Also, 3 letter horror show XD heavens, it's not 'that' bad! Though I have encountered people before with actual horse-phobias.
As for the CS, I dunno about 'bad', so much as 'possibly' inaccurate? I assume by chunk you're talking about the different world-fragments I mentioned in the O.P.s, Which generally would never be floating near enough to eachother to 'physically' cross, nevermind being able to 'see' eachother, and varying bettween actual floating continents to simple being passages to whole worlds. That said, some of that could be handled by the disruptive anomalies of artifacts and evil entities mentioned in that little backstory of yours xD... It's 'plausible' that your own world fragment could be drifting and just so happened to be near enough then, but given that the current scene is in the middle of the nation, and any 'edge' he could jump to would be hundreds of miles away from the action [these are planetoids in size, not small floating island :D], unless he dropped down in the middle somehow XD

Hmm... I suppose I could tweak it a little bit, maybe he could use the artifact's abilities to warp somewhere, and, of course, his chunk (which I would be more than happy to elaborate on, if you want) would be floating away, so, it's kinda like a rare event, then? Not that he'd know, of course.

That can work XD nobody's seemed to gripe about anything yet either, so I guess you're good to go. He kinda sounds designed for turn-based RPGs actually, so hopefully he won't find 'too' much class with what's essentially a real-time environment where 'moves' may be interupted, avoided entirely or partially, or potentially countered.
Don't worry about it, lol. I was originally just going to outline what he could do, but I got a bit excited... anyways, I edited the backstory to have him teleport using the artifact, and to have the other chunk be further away, as well.
Hello there everyone, Gaia told me about this rp and it sound like a ton of fun. I hope that I can easily join in on this adventure and have fun with you all.
Source: My Little Pony, Pathfinder/ Dungeons and Dragons
Appearance Description: Brightmind Spellsmith is an above average sized male pony with some unique physical features. His cutie mark is a representation of a spiral galaxy with an atom at the center of it.
Personality: A very cheerful and friendly pony on the surface, Brightmind is the type of pony that would help you in a heartbeat, to the point of self-sacrifice. Though beyond the friendly paladin like outward presentation of his personality, a scholarly and quizzical mind lies underneath, constantly in deep thought and contemplation. With his nose buried in spell books and his hooves working on his inventions, it leaves little room for the internal struggles that come with a mind that acts like a tempest. This tempest is the main drive for his love for learning and exploration, but also leaves him sometimes crippled with his inner monologue that sometimes isn’t very fair to him, constantly leaving him in doubt and anxiety.
Backstory: From his birth, Brightmind Spellsmith was an oddity in his world. Brightmind was given the privilege and the curse of a genetic mutation that gave him both wings and magic which made him look like the princesses that ruled the land. Even though he was given this body, it wasn’t all that useful to him, always struggling physically, especially flight. With that, he worked the one muscle that he could, his mind. Studying for hours in his father’s study and later in the academy, Brightmind learned all he could about magic as well as how to manipulate magic to augment his lackluster body. He enjoyed pouring over dusty tomes, trying to unlock the secrets of the arcana and he seemed pretty good at it as well. However due to his mutation, magic was never easy for him and he sometimes couldn’t control his magic, causing surges of wild magic. Though he did learn to accept and adapt this possibility into his practice, it was never easy, even to this day. To hone his skills, he decided to join the ranks of the Unicorn Core where he learned not only how to used his magic for battle, but also learned how to put his inventive mind to work. His creation which he has called the gunblade was a combination of a firearm and a sword, a hybrid like himself. He even learned how to hybridize casting and fighting into one seamless dance of fury. Now it is his mission to master his hinderances and to use his weaknesses as strengths in his protection of home and country.
Talent section
Skills: The best that his talents can be summed up to is that he is a spell caster, mastering the different spheres of magic as well as different fighting styles centered on his gunblade. Most of his skills has to deal with different knowledges like arcane, spellcraft, planes, nature, history, and such like that. He is most skilled in the manipulation of spells, augmenting them the best he could without surging in wild magic. Traits: Most of his traits, besides the obvious hinderances of a genetically mutated body is the fact that he can use his magic to augment his body to help offset these hinderances; of course, at a price of stamina or drain. Also, he is really easy on the eyes so people say.
Powers: Besides the spells that are available to most unicorns and potion crafters, Brightmind has been researching all sorts of schools of magic from around the world. Using this knowledge and basic crafting techniques that has been passed down his father’s family, he is able to create new and unique spells, though they do have a higher chance of surging into a wild magic incident. One such spell he has nearly mastered is the ability to shift sizes, using that to shrink down to avoid attacks and quickly growing to deal devastating blow (like antman).
Equipment: Spellbook, Gunblade with repair kit, Shield of Wonder, mithril breastplate, adventuring gear with rations and water, scroll kit, wizard’s robes and modified hat.
So... not sure if its good or not.. if I should advance the background part a bit more to get closer

Name: Celina Letendre Species: Avali Age: 36
Source: Starbound (lets say heavily modded :P)
Appearance Description: Celina is a 4”3 size avail with mainly black, white and golden yellow feathers.
Personality: Celina is a curious girl that wants to see new things most of the time. She prefers trying to think before acting usually, not liking having to go on full force forwards when a fight does break up, even though sometimes there is no choices on that. Considering the work she ended up doing as a protectorate, she tries to protect people as much as she can when possible, although she does end up having a grudge on people that wants to trick or hurt her. Depending on the severity, it is either evade that person… or flat out attack them if she sees them again. This did end up having some issues with some avali’s that were not getting along at all and were prone to fights in the ship. It happened once that one of them was almost left dead with how badly Celina beat him up after he hurt multiple crewmembers with a rifle and attempted to get a mutiny up. What happen to those that did that instead was them being sent to an ocean planet, alone and stuck trying to survive there.
Backstory: Now where to start Celina’s story here… She was born in a distant world in a large avail camp with her mother and father, her mother being a merchant and her father a farmer. They lived on a rather cold planet, with snow falling down during most of the year. Lucky for them their plants resisted the cold and her father knew very well how to raise those plants. The nanocanvas also helped to keep them warm on those very cold nights at least.
As Celina grew, she had gone more and more interested in the protectorate, hearing stories about them saving people, helping gather resources and clearing out animals and monsters that kept attacking villages. She knew what she wanted to become as she grew up, but her parents were worried about her. That was a dangerous job to have and they thought she would have died if she even tried to do this… so they tried their best to stop her from leaving the planet to go join them, attempting to make her interested in other things instead. They tried to make her go in music classes with other avali’s, but she felt that music would not actually save or protect anyone in this case. Sure it did sound nice, but its not as if she could save lives with only music. They then tried to get her to learn more about science, but even if it sated her curiosity, it wasn’t enough.
All that attempt to stop her from even trying to sign up to be a protectorate ended up doing some extreme tension in the family unfortunately, with yelling happening a lot for about a week. She knew she could not get any ships to get out right now… but she felt like she needed to prove to herself that she could survive out there.
It was then that she decided to run away from her home, going into the cold wilderness of the planet at night. If she could prove to herself that she could survive, maybe her parents would realise that she wasn’t so defenseless. She ended up taking some equipment from her home before going to the wilderness, quarterstaff at hand right now, She wasn’t stupid here. Going out without anything would be suicide, that for sure. So she headed out, bringing also a mining laser with her as she went to dig underground.
Meanwhile at the village, search parties had been sent out when they discovered that Celina was not there anymore, people running around in the cold and trying to find Celina, worried sick about her. Her parents were worried they would find her dead, mangled by some savage beasts that lurk around the planet, blood soaked all over her body…
Meanwihle, Celina had been digging downwards, having gathered wood from the surface as well as some meat from monsters that she eliminated. She needed to show she could do it… It was also to prove to herself she wasn’t weak. She kept digging downwards, finding more and more ores as she digged down… until she landed in a cave and heard some loud growling.
Meanwhile on the surface though people were searching everywhere for her, before finding the tunnel that she dig down. They gone to head in, before hearing a deep roar from underground. They started to move quicker.
Celina on her side turned around, seeing a huge beast towering over her, with large teeths and sharp claws, as well as thick fur to protect it. When it tried to strike, Celina backed up quickly to get away from it, trying to then strike at it with her quarterstaff, not doing much to the giant beast. Celina frowned. How will she be able to defeat that thing. It was then that she was hit hard with a punch from that thing, making her lose her breath as she was sent to the wall… She slowly started to get up, feeling the cold wash over her body... it couldn’t be the end for her.. could it? Well, life had some little surprises for her, as she felt ice form around herself as the beast went to move forwards. It was then that Celina tried to hit it hard with her quarterstaff, but instead, a large icicle formed in the air and smashed hard onto the beast, piecing its arm and making it stubble back.
Celina was surprised to say the least about seeing this… but she didn’t question it. She concenterated on the cold that she felt, and then sent it flying towards the beast, pinning it down to the wall, hitting it with another, then another until the beast bled out, stuck in the wall, but Celina also losing consciousness from using that much energy. It was then that the search party found her.
When Celina woke up, she was in her bed, patched up. Her parents were both mad and glad that she survived that The scolding Celina had afterwards for worrying sick her parents… her four ears were ringing after all this, after all the yelling… but her parents understood something about this. Their little child wasn’t so defenseless after all, especially with her gift and maybe... just maybe she could help out the universe if she was able to leave this place. So it was then that she was given permission to become a protector.
When Celina healed up and heard about this, she was really happy. About finally being able to go and do her dream. So over to earth, she learned a lot about the universe, about what to expect, about also science things around the universe.
Years passed… she grown into a beautiful avail and also gained her very own mather manipulator as time passed and actually went to planet to planet with her own ship. As she explored the universe and helped more and more people, she gained many friends and helped a lot of people, also having more avail’s join her in her journey through the universe, having as if she had her own colony on her ship.
Time passed… it was about then that she heard the news about what happen to earth… destroyed by a strange creature, people fleeing and the protectorate destroyed by it… This made her feel extremely bad about all this. She went to head to the lab section of the ship, helping the scientists there, trying to figure out if there was anything that they could do… if there was any way to send a warning through time or something. They were also studying some old ruin texts and technology they had discovered not long ago… Maybe those had something to find out a way to send the warning. It was then that they had a theory… considering some energy from the technology they found, they could possibly mix it up with an FTL drive to get back in time. Well, this is where they were wrong, because when doing the test, the main FTL drive was affected, forcing everyone on the ship to jump to another place. Celina was worried when that happen.
“What is going on down there!” she said from the intercom, before some screaming avali’s could be heard, panicking. “We don’t know! The FTL drive was acting up! We…” they say before the ship suddenly stopped, pointing towards a planet… and started crashing down right now. “Everyone to safe cryogenic stations or safety pods! Get to safety!” she says before going to hold on, going to a special pod especially made for crashes.
A large boom could be heard in the forest… well.. considering the amount of ships… multiple booms we could say. When the ship landed, Celina got out of her pod, shaking right now, wobbling around, her head hurting… was everyone alive? Did they lose people.. she didn’t know.. and she sure hoped that everyone was alive.
power section-
Skills: Celina is rather intelligent, able to repair bots and make weapons from labs. She also has good aim using dual pistols or dual machine pistols, also preferring using a staff as a melee weapon.
Traits: Higher hearing ability then normal species, with the ability to run faster and jump hier then a normal avail.
Powers: Celina is able to create ice out of thin air, not needing to use any staves or wands. She practiced this as she grown, but was mostly focused on her studies and with technology. Able to also jump multiple times in the air using a set of tech chips that are installed over her body. Also able to blink a couple of meters, useful to dodge strikes.
Ship name: Protera Origin: Protectora at first, but upgraded by Celina and her crew Captain: Celina Size: Battleship size (Edited to be smaller to not leave a meteor size hole...) Source of Long range Travel: FTL Drive
oh silly me, I didn't realize the discord link had died out XD here discord.gg/5bp8eq this one should work for both of you. @lugia@evanist
Also, D'awwwww, The fluffy space raptors have appeared! I had a chat with the group since we're getting quite a meaty cast so far, and they seem open enough to you joining in XD The writing seems a bit 'rushed', like you were in a hurry to get it out and could've improved it some with more time taken. I'll admit, the personality sounds a bit cookie cutter [The 'sweet-heart unless you piss her off' kind dealy] That's not necessarily bad though ;3, I always stress that people should play a character that is fun for 'them', it's just something that was noted.
As for the background, 'closer' is probably a better idea, since currently IC everyone is in the same 'zone' so to speak, that being the everfree forest. The ships have already crashed [in different parts or edges of the forest] and angry critters are raising a fuss, It'll probably chill out soon so that a bit of 'getting to know eachother' can happen and a bit of plot advancement can commence.
Basically, overall, it's not bad, good enough to get started with IC[I mean, a couple of my CSes are basically 'classified' excuses to fill it out later as things are revealed IC] ;3 but it can benefit from some elaboration in various areas
I think this'll be truly the last person to join the cast for now xD It's possible that there'll be space for more people later in the RP, but it's going to be a while, heheh.
Alright, also, ya for personality I was like wtf am I going to write down.. its.. kidna one part that I dislike doing usually... I can think about a bit more right now. For story, might have been a bit rushed there cause I felt like I had to get something in lol.
If you want I can get the things modified a bit more so that it will be cleaner
So for personality, would this be a bit better?

Backstory I might add in parts and such, atm got work to do
Greetings, to all just joining. What you are reading now is the solitary biography of Wasteland survivor and sanguine shadow who stalks between the light, to persevere in a blasted, destitute shithole, and to give those who are in need a chance to pursue a goal, and dream such as his, that one day it might all change at last for the better, but until then... the obscuring mask, the darkened hood, the leathery wings of night's veil, and the guiding hoof to a better Equestria are all the scavengers and dwellers know.
However, you are granted the privilege of knowing the more mundane truth behind this so called "hero", who you may call... Ashen Crest. Alright. Here we go.
The Who...
What needs to be said first and foremost is that Ashen measures himself in a very specific way. His self worth. His strengths. His weaknesses. These numbers will mean nothing to you, nor should they be taken as anything more than a bizarre concept of letters and numbers intelligible only to him. As for why you are being shown this information, despite it being all but worthless to you, it still holds a deeper connection to Ashen than anything else. For this is what could be considered his very being.
S - 6
P - 8
E - 4
C - 6
I - 7
A - 8
L - 7
With this knowledge in mind, it is important to keep in mind that the world Ashen hails from is an alternate version of Equestria, where everypony is measured in such a way, as such is the simplest means of doing so when there is nothing else from the time before everything fell into ruin. Ashen has endured persisting banes, evaded ever lingering misfortunes, and suffered many hardships that have left his heart and soul broken, only to get back up stronger than ever again and again. It is from years of experience he has learned to survive and thrive all on his own, despite however, his one biggest flaw.
The fact that Ashen Crest is a Bat Pony. To you, reader, a Bat Pony is merely a pegasus but with fluffier ear tips, glowing eyes adorned with predators pupil slits, pointy fangs, and of course the trademark wings of a bat. Where Ashen is from, the truth of what a Bat Pony is could not be foggier. What little that IS known of them is mostly speculation, and due to this their very nature is an existential enigma. There are however, specific issues that surround the enigmatic race that have lived underground for centuries after Princess Luna, and Nightmare Moon, fell from grace. Let us go through them, one by one.
The Challenges...
1. One of the more infamous aspects of Bat Ponies that everypony who has ever come across one discovered very quickly, is that they are either far too loud and speak in an eardrum demolishing volume, or rather cannot be understood or heard at all as their natural language has evolved into a frequency that is not possible for any normal pony to catch, instead hearing only squeaks, chirps, and other such considerably adorable yet unintelligible noises. Ashen is no different and he unfortunately has no special talisman to lower his pitch, like some Bat Ponies do.
2. Being born in a cavern, and inheriting the result of centuries of a race spent underground and the evolutionary consequences of such, Ashen has bad experiences with the sun. It is not as if he is a vampire, and will turn to dust should he wander into its rays, but merely that his sensitive, darkness attuned eyes are hurt by the intensity of its brightness, an issue mostly solved by his deep cowl that is sewn into his armor. He is also unable to use his special magic that all Bat Ponies naturally have known only as Shadow Magic, while in direct light unless it is a spell that attracts light and creates shadows in its place.
3. The Genetic Death of his species is nigh, and because of the traditions his home follows as well as the few numbers remaining of pure and genetically untainted Bat Ponies, inbreeding is a very real danger that is inevitable. This leads to many Bat Ponies developing awful birth defects, but Ashen, as guilty as he feels because of it, was born a perfectly healthy foal while his mother and father, the mare being the mother to the father, both suffer from various afflictions. Ashen has left his home in search of a cure for this, but that is only one of his many goals.
4. There are other, smaller issues that come with being a Bat Pony. The mistrust that follows their undocumented past. The Zebra's that fear the stars and the night, and of course anything born from or in servitude to or in the worship of. And the danger of being labeled a mutant or monster by those ignorant of their existence. Such things however, are to be expected by any Bat that leaves their home. They are aware that they are remnants of a hard past, and that they may never catch up to the present. Ashen, bless his hopeful little heart, has adapted quite thoroughly to his new home. And what he hopes to accomplish is nothing short of fool's ambition.
The Demeanor...
Now that you are aware of his, and his species existence, their problems, and the core of WHAT Ashen is, it is time to learn WHO Ashen is. Ashen is no more complicated than you or I, a young stallion with a hopeful spark in his eyes, the kind that looks danger in the face and using fear to fuel his drive to carry forth. Ashen feels a deep sense of sympathy and compassion for the Wasteland's many victims, hating how unfair it is that the ponies of the past that brought them to ruin would never get to know what they've done to the ponies, and many other races of today. What kinds of painful scars were left in the wake of ignorance and hatred. But that's getting too dramatic, so on we go to how Ashen behaves.
Steady on his nerves, this Bat is usually pretty chill. Only ever terribly cautious as is to be expected of any Wastelander worth their salt. Quick to the draw but not to the trigger, he suffers from something that gets you killed out there. The ironic Merciful counter-piece to his survival instincts. He, much like everypony else at least who isn't one of the many kinds of trouble out there, just wants to get along without trouble. Too much to ask for, he is gruelingly aware yet it won't stop him from sharing his hopefulness with those who have yet to point a gun at his head.
This is not admittance to pacifism. Far from it. The blood on his hooves has unfortunately turned him just the slightest bit jaded. That is to say, he is not depressed or views the world in a negative light, it is simply that he cannot bring himself to care for the many who try to take his life, once it is all said and over with. Adopting instead the regretful, yet necessary distancing from such things in order to stay sane, and preserve the positive mental attitude he tries so hard to keep intact. This anecdote of his personality has conflictions with his own thoughts, leaving him confused many-a-night as he wonders what is really the right way to handle things.
Though he may seem almost... blank at first glace, this is only because he prefers to adapt to whoever it is speaking to him at the moment. Finding it best to forego his own uniqueness to instead be whatever anypony wants him to be, he has no issue switching up his vocal patterns, his ticks, and demeanor. Situations change on the fly and so can he, though typically while he is alone, Ashen takes on a much more quiet and distanced persona that makes him seem almost stoic, like the "silent and strong" type... when that couldn't be further from the truth. He just doesn't have much to say.
Ashen left his home and people behind when he realized that staying there would only lead to an undesirable future, in which he would be forcefully married to somepony that he had no interest in, in order to stave off the encroaching genetic stagnation, and then live out his days breeding and adhering to tradition. Dreadfully dull tradition. Life in the Wasteland is dangerous and almost always guaranteed to end painfully, but Ashen would take his chances while he searched for what he truly wanted out of life. It was difficult to adapt, but eventually he became adeptly skilled at worming his way through adversity, finding a hoof-hold in the vigilante business... as incidental as it always was.
This is where the quotations around "hero" earlier come from. Ashen has always been a soft-hearted colt. His sympathy a rare kind, strong as it is. He can't help but see himself in others shoes. And despite the unrealistic want to step in and be a hero, help others and make them smile, Ashen still tries his best. But at the end of the day, it's just all one big accident.
Ashen is just a kid barking up all the wrong trees. Without ever barking. Funny how that works out. Always stepping in where he is needed, though almost never intentionally. No, he never actively seeks out trouble. It always just so happened to find him. As it just turns out he has always just been lucky to be the better shot, the quicker reflex, and the stronger hoof. One day and he knows this too, his luck will run dry. But until that day, Ashen is just going to keep going until he finds that higher calling in life. Whatever that could be. Maybe, nothing at all.
The Tools of the Trade...
And so, to top off our little getting to know with Ashen Crest it's time to learn about the tools he uses to make his way through encounter after encounter. Being from a land time forgot, technology had a certain stopping point for the Bat's. It was all because of, well, the untimely end of the world. Mostly however it is also attributed to the fact that for a lot of their history they have been underground. It's only to be expected that they still have a few... obsolete ticks in their designs, ticks that Ashen has more or less taken care of at this point. Still, he refuses to abandon it for the sake of something that would fit better in the Wasteland. His standard line-up is as follows, with details on each.
Old World Night Guard Elite Jacket (Modified): Well that's a mouthful isn't it? Of course, what other names could be given to Ashen's attire as it is quite literally a gift to him from his family's military lineage that Ashen spruced up with his own little touch. A hood, plenty of kevlar, and a few more belts for good measure. It once was worn with honor and fierce loyalty to her Majesty Princess Luna and Nightmare Moon, but these days the Lunar Military insignia on the back of the jacket barely means a thing. The crescent moon base, the wings on either side, the star in the center. All but a distant memory.
Now, to actually describe what it is, it is an armored jacket long enough to cover the body from neck to tail, with the ends of it splitting into two coattails, it is made of a thick cloth woven layers within layers within a thin outer layer of smooth, polished leather, all dyed the colors of the night, deep shades of midnight blue. There are few decorative pieces left to adorn it, most of it stripped away, as it is unnecessary. On the inside everything has a ballistic weaving of kevlar, causing it to be heavier and just a bit harder to move in, but overall a much more reliably protective piece of clothing. As well, Ashen had a hood stitched into the neck with all the same materials, kevlar and all, to make it as seamless as possible. Does it look alright? Well, I suppose imagine Corvo's outfit from Dishonored. It's as close as I can imagine.
Leifthrasir: Considering I know next to nothing about guns, instead I will simply show you an image so that it at least makes sense in some context what exactly I had in mind.
Well now, wasn't that just educational? No? Not really? I didn't even tell you what he looked like? Well, that's fine. I mean, he's pretty much covered head to hoof by the outfit, so if details must arise then I'll make them up as I go. Easy as that. I'm done making this CS. I swear, it's fine. I always sucked at this, but believe me, Ashen's a great character. Seriously. Just the best. You'll see. You'll all see. Is it better than the Robot? Probably not. I really don't care, I just want to freaking roleplay... Okay. So. There it is. Ashen Crest. I know, yeah, whatever not the best CS, I'd rather just get him in and have you guys learn about his stuff there, I mean, there's no point in seriously working out everything here.
