Ironically named "Los Santos" (Spanish for "The Saints"), the bloody history that brought this vile gang to the forefront of the apocalypse contains none of the holy virtues of its namesake. Los Santos draws its lineage from before the end times, where it was among those that controlled the drug trade within the city. Whilst Los Santos had dealings throughout the city itself, the majority of their criminal activity had been conducted within a district known as the "Old Town," a section of the city primarily housing old warehouses and homes well below the national poverty line.
RamΓ³n Lacasa, the then leader of the Los Santos gang, would rule this area like a king, and even the police would struggle to maintain order as long as Lacasa was still in power. Therefore, the police, with the aid of the FBI, prepared a sting operation to knock down the Los Santos a peg, and if possible, arrest Lacasa for his long list of crimes. Planting spies within Los Santos, alongside the intel the informants would pass on, the police would go on to accomplish their goal to take Lacasa and the gang into custody. Those that took part of the operation were hailed as heroes for their actions, as they had removed a dangerous threat from city streets.
However, not long after the operation, the Cordyceps infection would soon take over most, if not all, of the civilized world. What happened to Lacasa is not known, but with the apocalypse, the Los Santos would experience a rebirth. One of Lacasa's former lieutenants, HΓ©ctor GutiΓ©rrez, seized control of the gang as civilization collapsed, and would create his own kingdom within the former grounds of Los Santos. Pharmacies and other important facilities would be thoroughly scavenged, leaving the good folk to either die off, or serve Los Santos in order to survive.
If Los Santos could be eliminated entirely, then perhaps order could be restored to the district, and the people could focus on reclaiming the city. Nevertheless, with a large number of infected on the prowl, and with the gang having the upper hand, who would be so keen on starting a war with Los Santos? It'll take a lot more than just wit and bullets to take down such a massive gang, but everything has a weakness, whether they are a deadly clicker or a bloodthirsty bandit. Will our brave survivors be able to figure it out, or will they suffer under the wrath of Los Santos?
