House Name: House Antherion
Kingdom Location: Deliverance(small Island off the coast of the mainland.)
Family Motto: We Remember
House Sigil: Orange phoenix on a red background.
Relations with other Kingdoms: House Antherion has very little overall contact with other kingdoms. The only real contact other kingdoms have had in recent times are the raider fleets that sail out from Mordrin. House Antherion has very little political contact with other Houses or Kingdoms as a whole, with only occasional traders or merchants arriving in other ports under false colors.
Family Reputation: Within Deliverance, House Antherion reigns supreme. The small size of the kingdom compared to others has the effect of there being few houses to contend with each other in general. Through both political and military means, House Antherion has come to reign supreme over Deliverance.
Main Export: Timber and Fish
Description of Kingdom: The land House Antherion resides over is largely forests and hills. Towards the center of their domain, there is a small chain of mountains where House Antherion mines most of its metals. The largest population centers are located along the coast, large port towns from where the navy of House Antherion is constructed and sails from. Inland, among the forests are several small hamlets, dedicated almost entirely to cutting down the forests to provide the wood needed to expand the fleet.
In some of the more recent generations, as the defenses of the mainland began to grow more powerful, raiding there became more risky and costly. As such, most House Antherion fleets turned their attention to raiding Imperium naval routes.
Family Background: House Antherion traces its origins back to the pirate Antherion the Forsaken, once a prominent prince from the maindland, who fell far from grace. A once prominent pirate of the known world, he was a plague from coast to coast on the mainland. He built up a small fleet of warships, and a stores of treasure from his dishonest work. However, as Antherion's power and wealth grew, the nations of the maindland banded together, and a massive armada ambushed the pirate fleet. Antherion and many of his pirates were taken prisoner, and the collective lords decreed they would die by banishment.
The prisoners were marooned on Deliverance, with no supplies or tools. Antherion quickly rallied the survivors around him, after killing many of those who refused to listen. He led them in land to find fresh water, where they encountered the locals. The local hamlets were largely peaceful, and as such, posed no threat to the pirates. Antherion used this to his advantage, and quickly conquered the first hamlet they found. He forced the people to forge weapons for him and his pirates, and give them housing and food. With their first hamlet secured, Antherion forced the elder to give him a map of the island, and the known settlements. Antherion left a few of his trusted men behind, and led the rest to the next hamlet.
Over the course of three years, Antherion conquered all the hamlets and settlements in the area. Many of his men called for Antherion to force the hamlets to build them a new fleet, so they could take their revenge on the mainland then and there. Antherion refused, saying to do so now would be pointless. Many of his men refused, their shortsightedness not understanding Antherion's goals and ambitions. They rebelled against him, and the few men loyal to Antherion were either killed or taken prisoner. But, surprisingly, many men from the hamlets rose up to aid Antherion, their numbers quickly overwhelming the depleted pirate forces.
With the aid of the hamlets, Antherion set out to construct a new Kingdom. He had a mighty castle constructed on the coast of Deliverance, where a settlement quickly sprung up around it. This would become the capital of House Antherion, the castle of Mordrin. As other settlements began to be constructed along the coast, Antherion taught the people of Deliverance how to construct the mighty longships he had once commanded, and showed them how to sail. Many young men took to it, and Antherion's new fleet began to expand. However, he knew he would not be able to gather a force large enough to exact his revenge, so he turned his attentions, and the resources of Deliverance to expanding his new kingdom.
This policy has continued for many generations. Each young child of House Antherion is told of the blood debt their House has against the mainland, and told their job is to see their power and resources expanded, over generations. From the few survivors of the pirate crews, other Houses were founded, all swearing loyalty to House Antherion. Over the years, a few have risen up against House Antherion occasionally, only to be put down brutally.
Claim to the Throne: House Antherion has ties to royal blood from their founder, Prince Antherion the Forsaken. They see their lineage as one of the few pure blood lines left, however over the years, this drive to see their descendants on the throne has diminished. Now, more and more, House Antherion has turned to their roots as pirates and raiders.
Members:
Morian Antherion: The Cyclops King, The Red Captain, Lord of Mordrin and House Antherion.
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Position: Noble
Appearance: Morian stands around 5'8, a rather standard height for anyone on Deliverance. Likes all members of House Antherion, Morian has pitch black hair and green eyes. He keeps his hair cut short, and keeps his face mostly shaven. He has numerous scars from his numerous battles and raids, and a scar he received in his childhood, across his right eye.
Background: Morian Antherion is the current Lord of House Antherion, the only child of the previous Lord Antherion to survive. Born in Mordrin, he was the youngest son, with little expectations to inherent the family title. He had three older brothers, each of whom treated Antherion like a worthless rat. His parents rarely stopped his brothers from picking on Antherion, seeing as it was just a natural process for making their son stronger, and they generally didn't care.
In the following years, Antherion would prove to be a worthy sire of House Antherion, quickly taking to combat, sailing, and even the education courses he was forced to endure. Had he been born to any other House, Antherion would have been the pride of the House, but in House Antherion, he was nothing. This all changed when his eldest brother, while leading a pirate raid on the maindland, was killed. His next brother to take the role as heir to the family suffered the same fate a few weeks later.
His parents began to panic, for their next eldest son was hardly a good warrior, or sailor. He was being groomed to be married off to one of the other Houses on Deliverance, to solidify ties and end a rebellion before it began. But, Morian's parents still refused to acknowledge him as a possible heir, and so, coming to the conclusion he would have to save his House, Antherion began to form secret ties with captains and soldiers in Mordrin. When he felt he had enough support, he took his brother out on a hunting expedition. The two brothers were not seen for some time, but two weeks after departing, Morian returned to Mordrin, alone, and with a massive scar across his face.
His parents were enraged, and demanded to know what had happened to Morian's brother. He told them that he had been killed by one of the large cats that prowled the forests of Deliverance. His parents didn't believe him, and they had Morian arrested. That night, the men guarding Morian's cell were killed by Morian's own men, and the young heir was released. While his men dealt with any warriors they knew wouldn't follow Morian, Morian entered his parents chambers, and killed them.
The next morning, Morian was the new lord of House Antherion, and ruler of Deliverance. Those who openly opposed the takeover were ruthlessly killed. A few Houses tried to make a move against House Antherion, but those that did were defeated. The rest quickly fell into line, seeing a true Antherion lord finally taking command. Since then, Morian has vastly expanded the fleet of House Antherion, and its vassals fleets. He has launched more raids than any other Lord since Antherion the Forsaken himself.
Personality: Morian is cruel, and humorless. He has little room for pity in his mind, seeing it as a weakness that will lead him and his people to ruin. He is a solitary figure, rarely speaking to those around him, but demanding their respect with his mere presence. In combat, he is a military genius in naval engagements, and has been known to take no prisoners.
Weaknesses: Morian is a Cyclops, he lost his right eye when he was younger under mysterious circumstances. When he is not raiding, or ruling, Morian often finds himself at the bottom of a tankard of ale. As well, Morian is quick to anger, and many unfortunate souls bringing bad information have lost their lives to their lords fury. This has sometimes led to fighting wars of retribution against other Deliverance Houses, all of which Antherion ends with ruthless efficiency.
Skills: Morian is an excellent close combat warrior. Due to the loss of his right eye, Morian has come to excel at fencing, since it allows him to face his opponent in one way. As well, Morian is a master captain, able to navigate his ship through waters no other man would dare to even look at. This has allowed him to leading raids from unsuspecting fronts, and bring in vast wealth to Deliverance.
