I'm not even REMOTELY happy with the length or quality of my post, but if I don't force myself to type something up now I'm probably never going to be able to keep motivated.

I know the feeling. For me, after forcing the first time the posts get better as I got more stuff to react to and such.

The character I am using was written with one assumption in mind; that due to the setting and description given, EVERYONE was gonna be fielding OTT edgy characters.

I made an Edge Lord Character for a Mass Effect Rp... and funny enough, everyone loved him. I'm sure that's the case here as well. ^-^

I figured I make conversation at least. This OC has been pretty quiet for a while and activity helps it. What's been your favorite character in a rp that you've played?

PS: anyone can answer that btw. I love hearing everyone's thoughts, stories, etc.

Tough call, I've used so many...

I think it's probably one of my RWBY characters, Chunlan Zhu. She's a girl with a lemur tail, whose Semblance (a power unique to each person) made it so she didn't need to sleep. She was just slightly off-kilter. Not really crazy, but her extended span of full consciousness has caused her to act in strange ways at times. She often daydreams and gets distracted in the middle of a fight on a regular basis and comes off as stalker-ish because she has developed a habit of memorizing other people's schedules (to figure out when they go to sleep and wake up, she she can leave them alone at night and start bothering them first thing in the morning.)

She fights using a modified monk's spade which houses a motorized spool of high tensile-strength mono-filament wire, and her constant state of conciousness has allowed her to learn so neat tricks she can use that wire for in combat situations. Everything from creating tripwires to garroting enemies or entangling them.

@Phantomlink959 Lmao! Asche didn't come off as an edgelord to me, it just seemed like you were really invested in the setting! Which is great, I'm just not as experienced in it so I tend to take a backseat til I get a feel for stuff.

@Fallenreaper Oh man, faves! I joined a D&D game where I rped a young swordsman-in-training who borrowed his teacher's swords without asking, then was kidnapped and sold into slavery. He lived at sea for three years then finally got free. When I started rp, he was looking for his teacher's lost swords. His worst flaw was that he totally lived in the moment, just couldn't understand that there were consequences for his actions (good or bad.) He actually was a legitimately good/selfless person, but he used that fact to justify bad things that happened to him as just being random. Like, he'd spontaneously just give his whole wallet to an orphan and later he'd fortuitously find some rare treasure, so it'd never came back around to haunt him. He was like a living incarnation of good karma. Super good/lucky dude, but he just couldn't get past his big mistake in the beginning. Totally in denial that being a slave had screwed him up.

I mean, it's both really. I actively tried to make him as edgy as possible but I spent so many of my skill points on character writing that it still turned out pretty good.

Been known to literally ramble about some of my characters for hours, though, so I'll try not to get started into that mode.

Come to think of it I probably should've put some of my skill points into more marketable things like tech support or mathematics; or at the very least balanced character writing with world building...

Noice, I'll get back into things and kick my ass into high gear once Canadian Thanksgiving is over.

My favorite was probably a dude I made for a RWBY rp that was an ex-soldier that was almost an icon of the nation he fought for. He was ordered to kill his wife for her being a traitor, so he did. However, once they tried to prevent him from burying her, he murdered his officer and any soldiers that resisted. Since he became wanted for desertion, he left and then blew up a checkpoint by overloading a reactor. He accidentally killed civilians in the process. From there, he entered into a deep depression and essentially drank himself into a stupor every night, reliving the killing of both his wife and the civilians. A Hunter took pity on him since he was obviously capable and dried him out. From there, he became a Hunter and utilized his exosuit combined with his blunted two handed sword that could turn into an emplaced HMG. His Semblance was that he designated an area as his domain and thus could not be moved from it and also took less damage to his aura in it.

He was interesting to play, especially since he was one of the only non-edgy characters and also the only one not based on hyper mobility or anime powers. It was also funny since he was able to take on the other characters since they were fast but squishy and he could plink them with bullets. His suit was bulky and like a Big Daddy met an EVA suit.

That... sounds SUPER edgy, dude. Like, absurdly edgy. This is coming from somebody who is obsessed with RWBY.

Within the setting, it was a war torn form of RWBY's world. As for his daily life, he was actually a generally happy and grounded guy, but he fought the PTSD sometimes. So, while the past was "edgy", his actual play was not. He is hard to explain in a paragraph blurb.

And to be fair, he looked like the animated Tony Stark and drew inspiration from him.

I'm not gonna delve too deep because if I do I'll go into hyper-critical OCD mode over stuff.

I actually have a RWBY character designed after Nikola Tesla who takes a few design cues from Tony.

Mostly in the personality area, though he also iterates improved versions of his weapon in Mk versions like Tony does the Iron Man suits.

His weapon btw started off as a pair of gauntlets that shoot lightning, he has a ton of different versions that he keeps in a sort of armory/vault in his house. He isn't actually a Huntsman (flunked out of combat school) but he keeps building new versions of his old weapon as a hobby.
