@Fabricant451 Yeah, you could say that. So how about Jaffle/Pocket sandwich that is Jaffle/Pocket Sandwich in every other way, except it has pastry instead of traditional leavened bread?

@Strange Rodent An Oreo cookie is a sandwich. Ice cream sandwiches don't have bread. The sandwich is a food delivery service and it has many variants, the most traditional of which is the two bread, meatstuffs inbetween. So pastry could probably serve as the 'bread' in that regard.

@Strange Rodent Ravioli is a dumpling. Pie is a pie. Just because some foods also technically meet the specifications of what a sandwich is doesn't make them a sandwich.

Because different foods have different names. Wolves and dogs are both canines but you don't typically keep wolves as a pet. Ravioli is a dumpling, not a sandwich. Pie isn't a sandwich. If someone asks you for a sandwich and you bring them ravioli they're going to look at you like an idiot. If you want to get super technical, pie isn't sliced nor is ravioli and moreover pie doesn't have the leavening agent of yeast that is vital to the bread component of a traditional sandwich.

This is one step away from being "An ice cream cone is a sandwich!"

I don't know about an ice cream cone being a sandwich but a popsicle is a wood sandwich.

@Fabricant451 So the bread does have to be leavened, and the sandwich has to be sliced? If you choose to not slice an unleavened bread sandwich?

And yes, I do want to get super technical, that's the whole point of this thread. Well that, and assigning totally arbitrary definitions to different foods because it's fun.
