- Item: Description
History:Ladicius was born into a wealthy minor noble house in Hallowreach. His household consisted of his father, mother and older sister. From a young age he was groomed to be the warrior of the household, a departure from the family of mages that came before. The Praemorscis' nobility were well known for their ruination mages, his father came from a long line of battle mages and he had many artefacts that that he held sacred and many he often donates to the college. He was previously a professor and thus has many contacts there and holds them in very high regard, leading Ladicius to respect and hold them in high regard also.
His mother, on the other hand, was a wicked woman. She emotionally and physically abused him since he was a young boy and he has many scars thanks to her. His whole life she has told him how worthless he was due to his lack of magical ability and how he didn't attend the college, even though he had no say in the matter.
He wasn't allowed to join the palace guard until 16, however his mother had him sent with his to clean up the bandits in the country side with his uncle at 14. He spent two years with his uncle, spending months on the road and only two weeks home when he finally returned. It hardened him up and he lost a lot of friends, many whom had died in his place to protect the noble boy who shouldn't have been there in the first place.
The time came for him to join the palace guard, due to his nobility he squired under Sir Richard Harrington. A veteran knight in the service of Lord Wallace Driskard. Sir Richard was an honourable and good man who taught Ladicius about knighthood and many advanced combat lessons that his uncle had been unable to teach him.
A few years later, just as Ladicius began to get noticed, the treasury was robbed and he was framed for the act under the accusation of his own mother. This was treason, and he was thrown in the dungeons and tortured for 6 months. The dungeon master didn't get a word out of him, but he did cover most of his torso in scar tissue.
Ladicius' older sister eventually stepped forward and confessed that their mother had lied, and that it had nothing to do with her brother. This led to her execution at Ladicius' own hands. Lady Driskard gave him the choice, and he chose to behead her. Wallace Driskard, Richard Harrington, and just about everybody else tried to dissuade him but the hate filled man would not have it.
This gave him a reputation as The Kinslayer, and also as the man who didn't break in the dungeons. He was quickly promoted after this and one time whilst on duty a rival noble challenged House Driskard to a duel. Being the next heir, Gerard was expected to take up the challenge. However Ladicius stepped forward, saying that shall he lose his death will be less significant and that he shouldn't risk dying for a noble so trivial.
In the end, Ladicius won the duel. He won so violently, and bloody, that he earned the nickname "The Bloodmime." He had created a blood fountain out between his neck and shoulder blade, decapitated and amputated the feller. This earned the gratification of Gerard, and the dismay of the rivalling house.
Ladicius began to work closely with the Driskard's, mostly as their enforcer and bodyguard. This helped him improve his rank and his reputation. He attained the rank of knight, and began to form a brotherhood with Gerard, Lukas and Gabriel. Wanting to see more strength in the house he propose he initiated a training schedule, especially considering they had enemies. Lukas was less than thrilled, but Gerard made sure he always showed up on time.
Having a soft spot for the youngest of the three, Ladicius always tried to bring back something for Gabriel when he had a contract or mission outside the city. Curiosities, trinkets or toys. When he could spare the time he tried to get the sheltered Lukas out horseback riding, as the 16 year old rather enjoyed that, he took him outside the city and to places where he might not usually be able to go. However, due to his work, and occasionally being sent on contracts to eradicate rogues and bandits, this doesn't happen as often as he'd like.
Whilst a contract to wipe out a pesky bandit, he encountered the witch known as the Snow Queen they used a weapon against him that was alive. It was an ancient species of being known as the Draiochta. In some cases, this species will kill and consume the soul of whomever it comes into contact with, but having grown tired of being prisoner it utilised Ladicius' body to escape.
The witches didn't understand the power they were using, nor the intelligence of the creature, its unsure if they even understood it was a creature and not just some form of poison gas. But now, Ladicius has recently been plagued with an entity he doesn't understand. Ladicius introduction will start shortly after this encounter.
