Mayhew is a master of the arcane arts. As such, Mayhew is able to manipulate the arcane forces through a few various conduits. Most commonly he carries a pair of twin oak wands which are grafted into silver hilts. Using these wands, Mayhew can cast a wide variety of spells ranging from manipulating the world around him to the various elements and even exhibit control over life ad death. Outside of casting spells, Mayhew is knowledgeable in potion brewing, rune carving and enchanting allowing him to make a wide variety of magical weapons and aids.

The most obvious weakness of Mayhew's is that without a wand or other enchanted conduit, Mayhew is unable to manipulate the arcane forces. Further more, Mayhew has to limit the amount of time he opens himself up to supernatural forces as he risks possession by spirits far more powerful than he is. Beyond this, Mayhew has no superhuman abilities and is still vulnerable to bodily harm if he doesn't magically protect himself.

Born in the early 1500's, Mayhew grew up in poverty always seeking a better life. He found that better life after stumbling upon an ancient Warlock. The Warlock took Mayhew on as his apprentice seeing potential in the boy, unfortunately this was his undoing as Mayhew ultimately killed the Warlock in his sleep in order to siphon the elder man's power for himself. Over the years, Mayhew has constantly grown in power whether through deals, murder or simply the possession of arcane items. Having reached a pinnacle point in his life, Mayhew now has more wealth than he could possibly ever spend but yet is in more debt than he could ever pay off. Owing his soul to forces from beyond, Mayhew constantly barters for one more day by offering other souls in his stead. Somedays a single soul is enough to satisfy the hunger from beyond but at other times, the hunger has sought for hundreds of souls. As such, Mayhew has tethered his store to a Hellmouth in order to feed the hunger the victims of his crimes and amusement. Now residing in a vast metropolis, Mayhew keeps his debt and boredom at bay through causing chaos on its numerous streets.

Arch-enemy is a rival sorcerer named Spindleshanks. Unlike Mayhew, Spindleshanks focuses heavily in the art of Necromancy, often raising the dead as puppets and enslaving the weak of mind to carry out his bidding and will.
Having lived for so long, Xander has no interest in relationships, merely seeking gratification when he desires it. He also has no distinct preference in partner.
Xander enjoys chaos and often sell cursed items to customers just to revel in the madness they cause.
Mayhew's shop is built upon a Hellmouth giving him a limitless connection to arcane sources. He's able to summon demons and other otherworldly creatures to act as minions and underlings when needed. Mayhew's shop also doubles as a seal however, preventing the creatures from freely roaming the city and should the shop be compromised it could cause an invasion from the otherside.
Mayhew's shop, The Grimoire is protected by numerous spells including ones that have animated the decorative gargoyles. These gargoyles act as Mayhew's guardians and are also used to perform errands for Mayhew when need be.

It's kind of funny the stories we tell ourselves just to make it through another bitter day. We give each other hope despite the overwhelming odd always being stacked against us. We were always taught good would triumph over evil, the plucky hero would topple the evil empire and the knight in shining armor would show up one day to sweep the princess off her feet before riding off to their happily ever after.

But this hope, in many cases at least, is false.

Happy endings seem to be as much of a relic, an artifact of a long forgotten past, just like the knights which appear in the stories from before out time. Instead of allowing hope to encourage us to new heights, to explore new frontiers and to keep pushing on, we use hope as a shield. It merely protects us as we keep our overwhelming fear at bay. The fear we've allowed to rule over our lives. We work jobs that we hate, and that make us sick because we're too afraid to take a chance on a job that would make us happy but comes with less pay. We constantly settle in our lives, too scared to take a risk or face rejection despite the possible outcome being one of the best moments we could ever have. And when we witness each other coming into harm, we don't try to stop it because we fear harm coming upon us.

For this reason, the crooks, thieves, thugs and murderers prey on your fear. They savour it's smell as they feed upon you and where there is fear they are quickly drawn to it. Their kinds spreads faster than any known cancer as they corrupt every system they come up against, wearing it down and bringing it to its knees.

Such is the story of Santa Celia, a towering monument to progress, a city literally caught between moving forward and in the echoes of times gone by. A city that could easily be one of the most beautiful cities in all of America and yet, instead it lies infested and rotting. Helpless to stop the infection as it grows worse every day. The criminals run this city, they have their hands in every pocket, every industry and every home. But change is coming, the winds are shifting, something new has come to town. Their reckoning will soon be upon them. Eventually the people will push back as leaders rise up to guide them. Heroes will come forth to lead the revolution and evil will know what it means to feel fear as they are banished.

Perhaps it's because the world is changing, twenty years ago no one would have thought of putting on a mask and taking the law into their own hands and yet now, in this West Coast city that is exactly what has happened. People gifted with unique abilities have begun to emerge from within the crowds, people capable of changing the course of mankind. For no darkness can exist where the light shines, and the light will soon fall upon the city.

A large metropolitan center, the city of Santa Celia is found on the Western Coast of the United States of America in the state of California. Spanning a long history, Santa Celia is a diverse city and home to numerous ethnicities and cultures. The city spans over a large area, consisting of the major city of Santa Celia and a smaller rural community known as the Árido Valley. Árido Valley lies two miles to the East of the main city and is home to Tlaloc Falls, one of the largest natural waterfalls in the world.

Two rivers run off these falls, the first of which is the Dorado Rapids which runs along the Southern edge of a small community known as Paraíso El Agua or simply Paradise on the Water. The rapids flow west, past the small community where they empty into the Pacific Ocean. Paradise on the Water is Santa Celia’s southernmost and richest district while the second river, the Del Vida River divides the Árido Valley from the city and continues to flow due South.

This span is crossed by a giant suspension bridge known as the Rook Bridge due to the giant turrets which rise up on either side of it. It's an impressive sight even to those who live in Santa Celia and has been featured in many Hollywood blockbusters. The city's architecture ranges from Colonial influenced Baroque to neighborhoods filled with Victorian and Edwardian styled homes to a modern downtown filled with buildings that are modeled on futuristic styles that wouldn’t look out of place in a science fiction film.

The city’s crime rates have been low in the past but have been on a steady increase over the last five years. Santa Celia has a Mediterranean climate that is sometimes classified, owing to its high rainfall, as an oceanic climate. It is one of the wettest places in California: the annual rainfall is 67 in (1,700 mm). The wettest months are from October to March; the wettest month is December with 11 inches (280 mm) and the driest month is July with less than 0.5 in (13 mm). The average high and low temperatures in January are 54 °F (12 °C) and 41 °F (5 °C). The average high and low temperatures in August are 66 °F (19 °C) and 51 °F (11 °C). Average number of days below 32 °F (0 °C) is 15 days. The highest temperature recorded in Santa Celia was 93 °F (34 °C), observed on 24 September 1964, 1 June 1970, and 10 October 1991. The lowest temperature on record was 19 °F (−7 °C) on 21 December 1990. The maximum monthly precipitation was 31.25 inches (794 mm) in November 1973. The maximum 24-hour precipitation was 7.73 inches (196 mm) on 9 January 1995. The highest snowfall recorded for any period in 24 hours was 6.0 inches (15 cm) occurring on 6 January 1972.

Additionally, the topography of the sea floor surrounding Crescent City has the effect of focusing tsunamis. According to researchers at Humboldt State University and the University of Southern California, the city experienced tsunami conditions 31 times between the years 1933 and 2008. Although many of these incidents were barely perceptible, eleven events included wave measurements exceeding one meter, four events caused damage, and one event in particular is commonly cited as "the largest and most destructive recorded tsunami to ever strike the United States Pacific Coast.

Standing at roughly five feet and three inches tall (5'-3"), Ellara is a woman slightly below average height for her sex. As such, she doesn't cut an overly intimidating figure, at least until she locks eyes with you. It's Ellara's eyes which cause many would be suitors to second guess approaching the otherwise stunning woman.

Ellara is especially known for her keen piercing emerald eyes. Her fierce green eyes give away the fact there's something wild and untamed behind them. Piercing and keen, it's almost as though her eyes can't stop moving as they swish from side to side, taking in their surroundings constantly. Ellara's eyes are known for being able to look right through someone as though she is staring into their soul.

Possessing naturally deep brown hair with strands of gold and auburn acting as natural highlights which are most visible in bright light. In dim and barely lit places, Ellara's hair can appear to be nearly black. Almost keeping her hair on the longer side, Charlie is known for tying back her hair on one side of her head, giving it a 'punk rock' look. She'll often wear a pony either tied behind her head or to the opposite side of her side braids.

Ellara possesses numerous piercings. In her left ear is one small silver cross, while her right ear has a small round stud in the lobe while a hoop is placed halfway up the outer arch with a second resting at the top. She has a tongue stud which she often plays with when bored or flirting. Both of Ellara's nipples are pierced, in addition to her navel and a pair of industrial bar piercings, on opposite sides of her pelvis. Ellara has one other piercing that she got on a drunken dare and often leaves as a surprise for her 'lovers'.

In addition to her piercings, Rose has five various tattoos on her body, the first of which is a lower back tattoo followed by another on her right forearm. In addition to these two, she has one beneath her breasts, sitting over top of her diaphragm. Another sits on the left side of her pelvis and the final is on the back of her left calf.

In terms of fashion, Ellara's general attire ranges from long sleeve shirts to hoodies usually, often cropped depending on her mood or weather. It's not uncommon to find Ellara in a sports bra and comfortable track pants. When out, her top is almost always paired with tight dark-wash jeans or leggings. Ellara will often wear t-shirts paired with a hoodie and jacket, or a long-sleeved shirt adorned with a hood and a jacket. No matter the weather or outfit, Ellara is never found without her leather jacket.

Truth be told, Ellara is a little girl scared of a world which she believes is out to kill her. As such, she puts on the bravado of a tough chick with a chip on her shoulder who only looks out for herself. Ellara comes across as flirtatious, confident and powerful. She loves to act as a proud rebel. Ellara disobeys orders often and enjoys communicating in sarcastic comments. Whenever she's caught in a bout of verbal sparring, Ellara ensures she gets the last words in.

Ellara isn’t afraid to speak her mind and makes it obvious when she doesn’t like someone. But Ellara hides her insecurity. She loves to act as a heartbreaker and will attract the attention of males to ensure she's 'well-protected' only to use her powers to run when the situation starts to look bleak. As such, she is highly manipulative and often not trustworthy.

When backed into a corner, confronted or challenged, Ellara can become brutal and harsh. Often going for the proverbial throat. Ellara shows no mercy and usually runs after everything is said and done. Due to being abandoned by her parents, Ellara has abandonment and commitment issues. She rarely trusts people and often only feigns loyalty until something better comes along. Never really knowing her place, Ellara has moved around a lot during the course of her relatively short life. The only place she is really comfortable is with a weapon in her hand.

That's not to say Ellara is a bad person. She is ever hopeful of a day where she won't have to run. When Ellara allows her facade to drop, she will stand up for what she believes in and will fight side by side with any allies she has left. Though she's scared, Ellara will always stand defiant and one day that might even develop into true bravery.

Ellara can be a little psychotic when caught off guard but does not actually suffer from any form of insanity. She knows her limits, she is intelligent and also reacts quickly, sometimes before the situation is fully thought through. The one thing she wants most is to be accepted for who she is, but Ellara refuses to change her ways.

Character Synopsis

Ellara Charlotte Van Abrams was born late into the evening on one fateful Wednesday in September of 1993. During her infant years, the young Ellara moved around from place to place as her parents, primarily her father, were on what was known to the Jäger as the 'Path'. While walking the path, the Van Abrams lived as grifters funding their trips through fraud and petty theft while the new family moved from town to town. Ellara's memories of these days are few and far between due in part both to her young age and the trauma surrounding the events of the death of her mother Sofia. The one thing she knew for certain was that her mother was murdered by something that scared even her father which prompted Jonathan Van Abrams to leave Ellara in the care of her Aunt.

It would only last two years until Ellara learned that death followed her no matter where she went. At the age of seven, her Aunt's house was broken into, her Aunt Diana was subsequently killed during the home invasion. Ellara arrived home after school to find Diana's body impaled in a broken piece of the banister. The police were never able to find those responsible and so Ellara was transferred into the custody of child services as the whereabouts of her birth father were unknown.

Going through foster home after foster home for the next nine years, Ellara kept her head down and avoided getting attached to any of her foster parents or siblings. Neither her biological parents or Aunt had ever taken the time to explain to Ellara what she was or how her abilities would work. Instead, Ellara grew up afraid of her own shadow as she began to see things she couldn't explain. Faces would change in front of her and a sick feeling would form in the pit of her stomach whenever she was in large crowds of people. It made Ellara prefer solitude to the company of others.

Maintaining decent grades throughout school, Ellara held down several various afterschool jobs, eventually saving the money required to attend college. But like most things in her life, college didn't work out for Ellara and she soon dropped out when she was offered a full-time position from her current employer.

Working at a bar called the 'Tír na nÓg', Ellara expressed her 'Activation' while off from work, celebrating her twenty-first birthday. Since that point, Ellara has experienced numerous vivid dreams and more commonly nightmares due to the memories of her ancestor. Continuing to work at the bar, Ellara is slowly beginning to understand what she had been seeing all of her life due to the new memories now in her head. Although, she realizes to explain any of this to anyone would likely end with her in a padded room.

Ancestral Activation | At the age of twenty-one, Ellara's eyes were opened to an entirely new world, one that had been hiding in plain sight before her eyes. When an elder Jäger passes on, their memories and skills are passed along to their closest heir. In this case, the heir was Ellara, and the elder Jäger unbeknownst to her was her late father. When this happened, the memories and training of Ellara's ancestors were passed onto their living descendant, 'activating' Ellara as a Jäger.

It is for this reason that, Ellara has a natural aptitude for fighting as it is her ancestors' memories imprinting themselves on her reflexes and reactions which acts as a sort of instinctual intuition. She gained their knowledge of fighting against the supernatural, and with it their weapons' skills and preferences. As part of her heritage, Ellara also possesses incredible observational abilities and keen instincts.

Perhaps the most valuable, though underutilized skill that Ellara gain upon being activated is her 'Divine Tongue'. Through her ancestors, Ellara has become something of an omniglot, capable of speaking and reading languages she has never heard of. The additional cones in her retinas allow Ellara to view written language in a way most humans can't, and to see messages under the letters left by others like her. In addition to the modern language, Ellara possesses the gift of a 'Nightingale Tongue' and has an innate, almost imprinted understanding of 'Divine Languages' such as Latin, Gothic, Enochian and most notably, the 'Language of the Birds'. This is a significant contributor to Ellara's natural connection to the supernatural and therefore affinity for performing mystic arts if given the correct direction or training.

Jäger Physiology | Ellara has a unique physiology gained from a long ancestry dating back most famously to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. While her abilities are underdeveloped, Ellara still possesses several differences from a base human. The first of these differences is nearly undetectable, Ellara possesses two additional cones in her eyes' photoreceptor cells which allows her to see things that escape detection from the average human eye. Predominantly, this allows Ellara to see and detect the presence of the supernatural whether those around her want to seen or not. Ellara's sense of smell and her sense of hearing are also enhanced and with the proper training could be honed to the point where Ellara's hearing or sense of smell alone could compensate entirely for the loss of her sight. Additionally, Ellara possesses a sixth sense, a sort of supernatural 'radar' that provides her with an overwhelming 'gut feeling' whenever she's in the vicinity of something belonging to the supernatural.

The most notable aspect of Ellara's Jäger Physiology is her resilience to physical harm. As a Jäger, Ellara's body is substantially more durable and resistant to blunt force trauma than that of an ordinary human's and she possesses an incredibly high pain tolerance. It is difficult, though not impossible, to bruise Ellara and even more difficult to create strain on her joints or break her bones. Ellara possesses a sort of metaphysical strength that is not related to her physical mass and thus is hard to fully gauge. At best, it puts her above a trained strongman but not on a level that one would consider superhuman. Likewise, her physical speed, agility, and reflexes are also enhanced and while impressive to an average human, anyone one of these attributes would be rapidly outpaced by an individual possessing a superhuman trait of the aforementioned.

While a regular person may require eight to ten hours of sleep, Ellara requires considerably less but still needs rest to function. Ellara herself is capable of staying awake for days but this will result in her 'crashing' and her body forcing her to sleep for half a day. Provided Ellara is left undisturbed while she recuperates, there will be no lingering disabilities. When sleeping, Ellara can recover from most non-lethal injuries, the severity of which will determine how long she requires rest. Likewise, her body can sustain itself on very little food and water, having nearly double the threshold for dehydration or starvation that a human has, which leads to Ellara eating relatively lightly on an average day but capable of putting away large amounts of food after a long fought battle.

Tongue of the Nightingale | The tongue of the Nightingale, or 'Divine Tongue' is a Jäger's unique gift that gives them the ability to command and understand language in a way more humans can't. Considered to be 'Priority Speakers', when casting incantations or banishing beings from this plane, a Jäger's words take precedence over those of a rival caster or opponent. In addition to this, Jäger's are able to see messages hidden behind words and characters especially in the cast of rune or glyph based writing. Due to their 'Divine Tongue' and enhanced sight, new messages can appear on a page that wasn't present before due to the Jäger's mind being able to extrapolate the hidden text.

Combined with her ancestral knowledge, Ellara possesses a high degree of mastery over language and the longer she remains 'activated', the more ingrained her knowledge of Earth's various tongues will become. As a side effect, all Jäger speak in perfect pitch and share a natural talent for singing, storytelling and other vocal forms of communication.

Due to the overwhelming amount of information unlocked in her mind upon 'activation' and her 'Divine Tongue', Ellara can suffer from bouts of glossolalia, or 'Speaking in Tongues' which makes it near impossible to communicate with others unless they're familiar with the tongue or a translator is provided.

Ellara's inexperience as a Jäger is her biggest limitation despite having grown up seeing the Supernatural, Ellara never had anyone to guide her nor train her despite her 'Ancestral Activation'. As such, while she can survive on instinct alone, if Ellara ever starts actively pursuing her heritage, she will quickly find herself outgunned and outmaneuvered by beings who have centuries more experience in confronting and defeating Jäger.

The Jäger's sixth sense for the Supernatural is not accurate, it can only inform the Jäger that there is a being of supernatural origin within a fifty-foot radius. It cannot determine who is the supernatural being or even what kind of supernatural being it is. Additionally, Ellara's Jäger Physiology does nothing to alert her of the presence of enhanced beings outside of the supernatural spectrum.

Ellara is also something of a technophobe, preferring to do things by hand whenever possible and using computers and cellphones sparingly. Furthermore, a lifetime of seeing what others can't has left Ellara in poor mental health and quite damaged. This has led to Ellara often refusing friends, help or aid even when in need of any of the aforementioned.


Weakness(es) | There are several noticeable weaknesses to Ellara's Jäger Physiology. The first of which is that in the same way Ellara can see the Supernatural, they too can see what she is. When her abilities see through the disguise of a supernatural, her own nature is revealed to them. Despite their resounding resilience against blunt force, a Jäger can be injured by conventional bullets, bladed weapons, and more advanced weaponry just as easily as an ordinary human can. Likewise, despite being able to perform it, Jäger's are not immune to magic and can be harmed or even killed from offensive spells.

All Jägers suffer from a weakness to 'Witch Blood' which is a literal term and refers to blood belonging to a living practitioner of magic. Weapons or objects laced with Witch Blood have a toxic reaction with a Jäger, causing burns upon contact and preventing wounds from closing. Ingestion of Witch Blood can lead to a Jäger being reduced to human levels if not outright killing them pending the quantity of dosage.

As a Jäger's primary method of recovery is through sleep, this leaves them with only two choices while injured requiring them to either continue fighting while wounded or to retreat in order to sleep. Either way, this decision could lead to the Jäger's untimely death due to falling in battle or being discovered while unable to defend themselves.

//Skills:
Mixologist | One of the more popular bartenders at the 'Tír na nÓg', Ellara is responsible for maintaining the supplies and inventory of the bar. Outside of this, she serves customers, generally working in the evening and leaving before midnight. As a bartender, Ellara is very familiar with the preparation of classic cocktails and is responsible not only serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks but also for formulating new, themed or seasonal drinks for the bar's various events.

Pragmatic Combatant | As Ellara's 'Ancestral Activation' is far from consistent or reliant and as it has only occurred in a very recent part of her life, she can't count on it in a fight. As her true nature has always been with her, the supernatural have been attacking her the majority of her life and because of this, Ellara has become accustomed to fighting with whatever is at hand. Capable of thinking quickly on her feet and making the best use of her surroundings, Ellara has become an accomplished pragmatist.

Street Smart | Living her life in the manner that she has, Ellara has learned how to listen to the rhythm of the city's heart, finding its beat and discovering the way in which it moves. She knows how to evade the police, where to find a hookup and can tell which storefronts are legitimate business and which are hiding a backroom filled with suspicious activity.

When a Jäger is activated, they inherit the skills and knowledge necessary to leave the safety of their ancestral home and begin to walk the Path. The Path refers to a Jäger's mission to protect the mundane world from the evils that lurk in the darkness and beyond the veil the separates our world from another. This has been the sacred duty of the Jäger since time immemorial and so upon the passing of his own father, Jonathan Van Abrams began his own Path. But unfortunately, he made one mistake.

Jonathan fell in love.

While Jäger are encouraged to start a family, it is heavily advised against doing so while walking the Path. For this reason, female Jäger often marry young and bear children before walking the Path while males generally prefer to wait, marrying late into their prime and taking a younger bride to ensure an heir. Jonathan was not one for tradition however and while walking his Path encountered Sofia.

Working a case in the Northern Region of British Columbia, Jonathan was tracking a particularly malicious gancanagh when he determined Sofia to be its next victim. Intercepting the gancanagh at a local ski cabin, Jonathan bought Sofia a drink, baiting the jealous fae. During the course of the night, the two fell in love and together laid a trap for the gancanagh. From that night on, the pair were inseparable and Sofia quickly accepting the world that had been hidden from her previously, eagerly learning everything she could from Jonathan.

Over the next few months, the pair made their way down the Western coast. With nary a job between them, Jonathan and Sofia got by the same way Jäger had for centuries, grifting and petty theft. Jonathan's talents were within the casinos, a sucker for a card table, he had an 'unnatural' lucky streak when it came to blackjack. Sofia's skills, however, were a tad more diverse, in no small part due to her rather deft hands. Between various 'borrowed' cars, hotel rooms and dive bars, the pair kept moving until one night, Sofie emerged excitedly from the bathroom.

She was with child.

Ellara Charlotte Van Abrams was born late into the evening on one fateful Wednesday in September of 1993. Despite their original plans to head South, Jonathan routed his new family back East believing it to be the safer Path. Staying put for no more than a year at a time, Ellara's earliest memories revolve around the family's many moves as Jonathan uprooted the family in order both to appease the Jäger Council and to keep his family from being discovered by the monsters he swore to hunt.

As soon as Ellara was old enough to talk, her mother began to involve her in helping fund the family. By the age of five, Ellara could size up a mark and was capable of picking the pocket of an unsuspecting adult. Aside from learning to aid the family, Ellara was also home-schooled by her mother. Though her learning was behind that of other children her age, Ellara was sharp and possessed a keen mind for learning.

Despite this, Ellara was never let in on the family secret as her mother wanted to shield her until she and Jonathan both felt she was old enough. Unfortunately for her, Sofia wouldn't live to see that day nor Ellara's eighth birthday. Returning home from a day out with her father, Ellara entered their Memphis home before running upstairs to greet her mother. What she found, however, would remain in her nightmares for the rest of her life.

Entering into the bedroom, Ellara came to a halt in the middle of the empty room only for a drop of something warm to fall from the ceiling, landing on her forehead as she looked up into the silently screaming face of her mother. Running into the bedroom, Jonathan quickly grabbed Ellara before rushing her into his car. Her father never retrieved Sofia's body, instead, burning the house to the ground as it became nothing but smoke in the rearview mirror.

Driving Ellara across the country, Jonathan left the young girl in the care of his sister, Diana, and her husband, Thomas Roy. As Jonathan's younger sister, Diana was never 'activated' and as such was able to live out a fairly normal life. Despite this, she never had any children of her own, though not for lack of trying and was more than happy to help when Jonathan showed up on her doorstep with her niece in tow.

Ellara's eighth birthday was the first birthday she celebrated without either of her biological parents. Though her father would occasionally visit in the years that follow, the pair eventually grew estranged. Living with her Aunt and Uncle, her Aunt quickly realized that due to living on the Path, Ellara was too far behind on her academics to be enrolled in a public school. Instead, Diana enrolled Ellara in a private home group and enlisted the help of a tutor to bring her up to speed. By the age of twelve, Ellara was enrolled into a public junior high school where she was forced to adjust to the transition of going from homeschooling to the public education system at one of the more awkward times in a young woman's life.

If junior high was the worst two years of Ellara's life, then high school was the ninth circle of hell. During her freshman year, Ellara's Jäger abilities began to fully manifest. While she had seen glimpses of things she couldn't explain in her younger years, now walking down the hallway of her high school, Ellara could clearly see which of her classmates were not what they seemed.

Unfortunately, they could see her too.

Like most teenagers, Ellara was no stranger to breaking the rules, particularly when it came to her curfew. During her sophomore year of high school, Ellara snuck out of her bedroom in order to attend a party late one Friday evening. Stumbling home in the wee hours of the morning, Ellara froze when she saw flashes of red and blue illuminating her neighborhood street. Outside of her Aunt's and Uncle house was a pair of cruisers and an ambulance pulled in the driveway. Running home, Ellara was prevented from entering the house, her Uncle coming to comfort her outside, but her aunt was nowhere to be found. It was only after Ellara saw the covered body wheeled out of the house that she realized the extent of the events that had transpired during her absence.

With the death of her Aunt, the relationship between Ellara and her Uncle became strained. The two may have shared a house, but that was about all as he withdrew completely from Ellara, blaming her and her father for the untimely death of his wife. Though he allowed Ellara to finish her secondary education, Thomas refused to legally adopt the girl and the moment she graduated high school, Ellara returned home to find her room packed, she belongs loaded into a rented truck.

Leaving behind her home in Seattle, Ellara headed South, driving through parts of Washington, Oregon, and California before eventually arriving in the golden city of Santa Celia. With only enough money to secure a small apartment and minimal experience to acquire a job, Ellara fell up the skills she had learned from her father and mother. Unfortunately for Ellara, it didn't take long until she found herself in the back of a police cruiser.

Sentenced to fifty hours of community service due in part both to her offense and due to her disruptive behavior in court. Ellara was put to work in a soup kitchen where she met pub owner, Patrick O'Sullivan, who took a liking to the young woman, eventually offering her a part-time position at her pub, the Tír na nÓg. While Ellara's personable skills didn't exactly make her a great waitress, Patrick was patient with the young girl and eventually found her a place behind the bar.

Working in the bar, Ellara began to see more and more things that she couldn't explain. It seemed as though the supernatural were as drawn to her as she was to them and for Ellara, that was terrifying. One thing it did do, however, began to shed light on various parts of her life as Ellara began to realize why her father had kept their family on the move in her early years.

Realizing she needed to provide herself with more options in life, Ellara began to attend the Dorado Community College for business during the day while spending her evenings at the bar. Impressed by Ellara's new drive, O'Sullivan promoted the young woman, putting her in charge of the managing and stocking the bar.

In the midst of all these changes, Ellara became activated which could only mean her father was killed while continuing to walk the Path. Devastated at the realization, Ellara lost focus and eventually fell too far behind in her studies which led to her abandoning her pursuit of a secondary education. Falling into a depression-like slump, Ellara is now living paycheque to paycheque, barely getting by as she spends the money she earns by slinging alcohol on bottle after bottle for herself. Surrendering to a life of slinging drinks at the Tír na nÓg, Ellara spends each night expecting it to be her last, the night when something finally comes for her.

Standing at roughly five feet and four inches tall (5'-4"), Ellara is a woman slightly below average height for her sex. As such, she doesn't cut an overly intimidating figure, at least until she locks eyes with you. It's Ellara's eyes which cause many would be suitors to second guess approaching the otherwise stunning woman.

Ellara is especially known for her keen piercing emerald eyes. Her fierce green eyes give away the fact there's something wild and untamed behind them. Piercing and keen, it's almost as though her eyes can't stop moving as they swish from side to side, taking in their surroundings constantly. Ellara's eyes are known for being able to look right through someone as though she is staring into their soul.

Possessing naturally deep brown hair with strands of gold and auburn acting as natural highlights which are most visible in bright light. In dim and barely lit places, Ellara's hair can appear to be nearly black. Almost keeping her hair on the longer side, Charlie is known for tying back her hair on one side of her head, giving it a 'punk rock' look. She'll often wear a pony either tied behind her head or to the opposite side of her side braids.

Ellara possesses numerous piercings. In her left ear is one small silver cross, while her right ear has a small round stud in the lobe while a hoop is placed halfway up the outer arch with a second resting at the top. She has a tongue stud which she often plays with when bored or flirting. Both of Ellara's nipples are pierced, in addition to her navel and a pair of industrial bar piercings, on opposite sides of her pelvis. Ellara has one other piercing that she got on a drunken dare and often leaves as a surprise for her 'lovers'.

In addition to her piercings, Rose has five various tattoos on her body, the first of which is a lower back tattoo followed by another on her right forearm. In addition to these two, she has one beneath her breasts, sitting over top of her diaphragm. Another sits on the left side of her pelvis and the final is on the back of her left calf.

In terms of fashion, Ellara's general attire ranges from long sleeve shirts to hoodies usually, often cropped depending on her mood or weather. It's not uncommon to find Ellara in a sports bra and comfortable track pants. When out, her top is almost always paired with tight dark-wash jeans or leggings. Ellara will often wear t-shirts paired with a hoodie and jacket, or a long-sleeved shirt adorned with a hood and a jacket. No matter the weather or outfit, Ellara is never found without her leather jacket.

Truth be told, Ellara is a little girl who grew up scared of a world which she believed was out to kill her. As such, she developed a defense by putting on the bravado of a tough chick with a chip on her shoulder, one who only looks out for herself. On a first impression, Ellara comes across as flirtatious, confident and powerful. She loves to act the part of a proud rebel. Often the first to disobey an order, Ellara enjoys communicating in fluent sarcastic comments, especially to those who try to belittle or act superior to her. Whenever she's caught in a bout of verbal sparring, Ellara ensures she gets the last words in, no matter the consequence.

She isn’t afraid to speak her mind and doesn't mince her words when she doesn't agree with another's words or actions. Ellara is the last person to hide her feelings about someone but will always deflect any attention that comes too close to discovering her own insecurities. She loves to act as a heartbreaker and will attract the attention of males to ensure she's 'well-protected' only to use her powers to run when the situation starts to look bleak. As such, she is highly manipulative and often not trustworthy.

When backed into a corner, confronted or challenged, Ellara can become brutal and harsh, often going for the proverbial throat. She can be described as borderline psychotic when caught off guard but does Ellara not actually suffer from any form of insanity despite the mental strain her abilities have brought upon her. Ellara is merciless but also knows her limits, she is intelligent and also reacts quickly, sometimes before the situation at hand is fully realized.

Due to being abandoned by her parents, Ellara has deep-rooted abandonment issues which have crept into other areas of her life. This has notably created problems with her sense of commitment, especially when it comes to other people. Ellara rarely trusts those around her and more often than not, only feigns loyalty until it is no longer to her advantage to do so. Having never really known her place in the world, Ellara has moved around a lot during the course of her relatively short life. The only place she is really comfortable is with the wind at her back.

That's not to say Ellara is a bad person. She is ever hopeful of a day where she won't have to keep moving when she can find somewhere she can feel safe. When Ellara allows her facade to drop, she will stand up for what she believes in and will fight side by side with any allies she has left. Though she's scared, Ellara will always stand defiant and one day that might even develop into true bravery.

Running home, Ellara was prevented from entering the house, her Uncle coming to comfort her outside, but her aunt was nowhere to be found. It was only after Ellara saw the covered body wheeled out of the house that she realized the extent of the events that had transpired during her absence.

With the death of her Aunt, the relationship between Ellara and her Uncle became strained. The two may have shared a house, but that was about all as he withdrew completely from Ellara, blaming her and her father for the untimely death of his wife. Though he allowed Ellara to finish her secondary education, Thomas refused to legally adopt the girl and the moment she graduated high school, Ellara returned home to find her room packed, she belongs loaded into a rented truck.

Leaving behind her home in Seattle, Ellara headed South, driving through parts of Washington, Oregon, and California before eventually arriving in the golden city of Santa Celia. With only enough money to secure a small apartment and minimal experience to acquire a job, Ellara fell up the skills she had learned from her father and mother. Unfortunately for Ellara, it didn't take long until she found herself in the back of a police cruiser.

Sentenced to fifty hours of community service due in part both to her offense and due to her disruptive behavior in court. Ellara was put to work in a soup kitchen where she met pub owner, Patrick O'Sullivan, who took a liking to the young woman, eventually offering her a part-time position at her pub, the Tír na nÓg. While Ellara's personable skills didn't exactly make her a great waitress, Patrick was patient with the young girl and eventually found her a place behind the bar.

Working in the bar, Ellara began to see more and more things that she couldn't explain. It seemed as though the supernatural were as drawn to her as she was to them and for Ellara, that was terrifying. One thing it did do, however, began to shed light on various parts of her life as Ellara began to realize why her father had kept their family on the move in her early years.

Realizing she needed to provide herself with more options in life, Ellara began to attend the Dorado Community College for business during the day while spending her evenings at the bar. Impressed by Ellara's new drive, O'Sullivan promoted the young woman, putting her in charge of the managing and stocking the bar.

In the midst of all these changes, Ellara became activated which could only mean her father was killed while continuing to walk the Path. Devastated at the realization, Ellara lost focus and eventually fell too far behind in her studies which led to her abandoning her pursuit of a secondary education. Falling into a depression-like slump, Ellara is now living paycheque to paycheque, barely getting by as she spends the money she earns by slinging alcohol on bottle after bottle for herself. Surrendering to a life of slinging drinks at the Tír na nÓg, Ellara spends each night expecting it to be her last, the night when something finally comes for her.

Ancestral Activation
At the age of twenty-five, Ellara's eyes were opened to an entirely new world, one that had been hiding in plain sight before her eyes. When an elder Jäger passes on, their memories and skills are passed along to their closest heir. In this case, the heir was Ellara, and the elder Jäger unbeknownst to her was her late father. When this happened, the memories and training of Ellara's ancestors were passed onto their living descendant, 'activating' Ellara as a Jäger.

It is for this reason that, Ellara has a natural aptitude for fighting as it is her ancestors' memories imprinting themselves on her reflexes and reactions which acts as a sort of instinctual intuition. She gained their knowledge of fighting against the supernatural, and with it their weapons' skills and preferences. As part of her heritage, Ellara also possesses incredible observational abilities and keen instincts.

Perhaps the most valuable, though underutilized skill that Ellara gain upon being activated is her 'Divine Tongue'. Through her ancestors, Ellara has become something of an omniglot, capable of speaking and reading languages she has never heard of. The additional cones in her retinas allow Ellara to view written language in a way most humans can't, and to see messages under the letters left by others like her. In addition to the modern language, Ellara possesses the gift of a 'Nightingale Tongue' and has an innate, almost imprinted understanding of 'Divine Languages' such as Latin, Gothic, Enochian and most notably, the 'Language of the Birds'. This is a significant contributor to Ellara's natural connection to the supernatural and therefore affinity for performing mystic arts if given the correct direction or training.


Limitation(s)
Ellara's inexperience as a Jäger is her biggest limitation despite having grown up seeing the supernatural, Ellara never had anyone to guide her nor train her despite her 'Ancestral Activation'. As such, while she can survive on instinct alone, if Ellara ever starts actively pursuing her heritage, she will quickly find herself outgunned and outmaneuvered by beings who have centuries more experience in confronting and defeating Jäger.

Additionally, due to the overwhelming amount of information unlocked in her mind upon 'activation' and her 'Divine Tongue', Ellara can suffer from bouts of glossolalia, or 'Speaking in Tongues' which makes it near impossible to communicate with others unless they're familiar with the tongue or a translator is provided.

Weakness(es)
The greatest drawback to being an 'activated' Jäger is the numerous memories and personalities that cloud the mind of the new hunter. The mental strain alone has left Jäger in the past institutionalized upon being activated and not everyone survives the ordeal. Some Jäger have even had their personalities and sense of identity completely overwritten upon activation creating a loss of self and almost a reincarnated form for the previous Jäger.

While activation can aid a Jäger in combat, it is not a suitable replacement for actual training and over-reliance upon inherited memories can lead to a Jäger's downfall. Additionally, the memories provided by her 'activation' are limited to just that, being memories. If Ellara encounters anything new or unfamiliar, she has no aid from her 'activation' and must resolve the situation on her own.

Application(s)
The primary application of the Jäger's ancestral activation is to preserve their knowledge and skills through each subsequent generation. This method also allows for accelerated training and avoiding learning curbs due to being able to draw upon the experience of those who came before.

Jäger Physiology
Ellara has a unique physiology gained from a long ancestry dating back most famously to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. While her abilities are underdeveloped, Ellara still possesses several differences from a base human. The first of these differences is nearly undetectable, Ellara possesses two additional cones in her eyes' photoreceptor cells which allows her to see things that escape detection from the average human eye. Predominantly, this allows Ellara to see and detect the presence of the supernatural whether those around her want to seen or not. Ellara's sense of smell and her sense of hearing are also enhanced and with the proper training could be honed to the point where Ellara's hearing or sense of smell alone could compensate entirely for the loss of her sight. Additionally, Ellara possesses a sixth sense, a sort of supernatural 'radar' that provides her with an overwhelming 'gut feeling' whenever she's in the vicinity of something belonging to the supernatural.

The most notable aspect of Ellara's Jäger Physiology is her resilience to physical harm. As a Jäger, Ellara's body is substantially more durable and resistant to blunt force trauma than that of an ordinary human's and she possesses an incredibly high pain tolerance. It is difficult, though not impossible, to bruise Ellara and even more difficult to create strain on her joints or break her bones. Ellara possesses a sort of metaphysical strength that is not related to her physical mass and thus is hard to fully gauge. At best, it puts her above a trained strongman but not on a level that one would consider superhuman. Likewise, her physical speed, agility, and reflexes are also enhanced and while impressive to an average human, anyone one of these attributes would be rapidly outpaced by an individual possessing a superhuman trait of the aforementioned.

While a regular person may require eight to ten hours of sleep, Ellara requires considerably less but still needs rest to function. Ellara herself is capable of staying awake for days but this will result in her 'crashing' and her body forcing her to sleep for half a day. Provided Ellara is left undisturbed while she recuperates, there will be no lingering disabilities. When sleeping, Ellara can recover from most non-lethal injuries, the severity of which will determine how long she requires rest. Likewise, her body can sustain itself on very little food and water, having nearly double the threshold for dehydration or starvation that a human has, which leads to Ellara eating relatively lightly on an average day but capable of putting away large amounts of food after a long fought battle.


Limitation(s)
The Jäger's sixth sense for the supernatural is not accurate, it can only inform the Jäger that there is a being of supernatural origin within a fifty-foot radius. It cannot determine who is the supernatural being or even what kind of supernatural being it is. A Jäger who is not accustomed to the sensation of their 'sixth sense' may also feel nauseous, even violently ill which would do them more harm than good. Additionally, Ellara's Jäger Physiology does nothing to alert her of the presence of enhanced beings outside of the supernatural spectrum.

Ellara is also something of a technophobe, preferring to do things by hand whenever possible and using computers and cellphones sparingly. Furthermore, a lifetime of seeing what others can't has left Ellara in poor mental health and quite damaged. This has led to Ellara often refusing friends, help or aid even when in need of any of the aforementioned.

Weakness(es)
There are several noticeable weaknesses to Ellara's Jäger Physiology. The first of which is that in the same way Ellara can see the Supernatural, they too can see what she is. When her abilities see through the disguise of a supernatural, her own nature is revealed to them. Despite their resounding resilience against blunt force, a Jäger can be injured by conventional bullets, bladed weapons, and more advanced weaponry just as easily as an ordinary human can. Likewise, despite being able to perform it, Jäger's are not immune to magic and can be harmed or even killed from offensive spells.

All Jäger suffer from a weakness to 'Witch Blood' which is a literal term and refers to blood belonging to a living practitioner of magic. Weapons or objects laced with Witch Blood have a toxic reaction with a Jäger, causing burns upon contact and preventing wounds from closing. Ingestion of Witch Blood can lead to a Jäger being reduced to human levels if not outright killing them pending the quantity of dosage.

As a Jäger's primary method of recovery is through sleep, this leaves them with only two choices while injured requiring them to either continue fighting while wounded or to retreat in order to sleep. Either way, this decision could lead to the Jäger's untimely death due to falling in battle or being discovered while unable to defend themselves.

Application(s)
A Jäger is designed to do one thing, and one thing very well, protect the world from the threats of the supernatural. As such, they equipped to seek out, discovery and destroy any supernatural threats, possessing the natural tools to survive and overcome any encounter especially when trained to do so.

Runic Markings
While a Jäger's Physiology provides a significant boon against the forces of the supernatural, when faced with overwhelming odds, Jäger are known to mark their skin with arcane runes. This practice traces back to their Germanic origins and often is done using Germainc Runes however some Jäger are known to favour Enochian instead. The actual rune itself is mostly ceremonial and it is the magic sealed within the symbol that has the greatest influence on the effect of the rune.

Application of a rune requires a skilled practitioner of magic, specifically one skilled in alchemy due to the process involved in the mixing of the ink. No two runes require the same combination of ingredients and almost every mixture contains an ingredient of a magical origin. For this reason, runes are sparingly used and only applied in dire circumstances. Amongst the Jäger, there are specific members who dedicate their lives to learning how to craft and draw runes, those who walk the path often bring tribute to these 'Scribes' as compensation for their services.

While these runes are almost exclusively used by the Jäger, they could be applied to a mundane however the detrimental effects would be accelerated without the Jäger's constitution to stand up to the toxicity of the runic concoction. Outside of ritualistic body modifications, runes are also used on weapons in order to create specific effects and enchantments. If applied during the forging process, the rune is more stable and often has a longer period of use than a rune added to a pre-existing weapon.


Limitation(s)
Each rune can only contain one effect and the use of multiple runes accelerates the risk of poisoning within a host or degradation of a weapon. Damage to the rune can render it unstable and any sort of breaking of the symbol will render it useless to the host or user. In the event of a damaged rune, pending the extent of the damage, a Scribe may be able to touch it up and stabilize the magic but a ruined rune will need to be removed and reapplied.

Weakness(es)
Runic Markings are exceptional volatile both to apply and to the host. Ingredients need to be measured precisely and mixed exactly otherwise the rune will fail or worst, backfire in horrific ways. The rune itself will fade with each use but must also be cleansed from the host system using a purification concoction. Failing to cleanse the rune from the host after it has been extinguished, will result in a form of arcane blood poisoning to the host. Continued neglect will eventually lead to madness and a mindless, feral state turning the afflicted Jäger into a zombie-like creature.

Much like the rune itself, the purification process requires the correct alchemical concoction and depending on the state of blood poisoning and the rune that caused it may require a stronger blend or specific ingredients. If prepared incorrectly, the purification concoction can lead to severe side effects if not outright killing the consumer.

Application(s)
Runes are used to compliment a Jäger in any area they're lacking or to specifically target a known weakness. They can be used not only to bolster both offense or defense but also create specific situational effects if given the time to prepare.

Tongue of the Nightingale
The tongue of the Nightingale or 'Divine Tongue' is a Jäger's unique gift that gives them the ability to command and understand both written and spoken language in a way more humans can't. Considered to be 'Priority Speakers' when casting incantations or banishing beings from this plane, a Jäger's words take precedence over those of a rival caster or opponent. In addition to this, Jäger's are able to see messages hidden behind words and characters especially in the cast of rune or glyph based writing. Due to their 'Divine Tongue' and enhanced sight, new messages can appear on a page that wasn't present before due to the Jäger's mind being able to extrapolate the hidden text.

Combined with her ancestral knowledge, Ellara possesses a high degree of mastery over language and the longer she remains 'activated', the more ingrained her knowledge of Earth's various tongues will become. As a side effect, all Jäger speak in perfect pitch and share a natural talent for singing, storytelling and other vocal forms of communication.


Limitation(s)
The Divine Tongue, while granting a Jäger a mastery over language, does not allow for instantaneous learning of foreign tongues. Pronunciation may come easier to a Jäger but they will still need to learn the ins and outs of a new language if they wish to speak it correctly. The only exceptions to this rule are the Divine Languages which are ingrained within a Jäger's subconscious.

Weakness(es)
The Divine Tongue is not a universal translator and when confronted with a foreign language not in their repertoire whether, through their ancestral memories or their own learned, a Jäger will be as lost as those also involved in the conversation. This goes both ways in that a Jäger will not automatically begin speaking the foreign language in order to communicate when necessary. Languages not of Earth or based on other forms of communication such as pheromones or even sign language will present as much difficulty to understand to a Jäger as anyone else.

Application(s)
The greatest application of the Divine Tongue is casting or countering magic. Due to being a 'Priority Speaker' the Jäger will be able to overcome most lesser practitioners as well as being able to unleash a powerful offensive of their own.

Gambling
One of the numerous ways that Jäger make money, Ellara, like her father, favours gambling over grifting. Traditionally Jäger have used runes and magic to rig slot machines for an easy buck, but those who enjoy the challenge like Jonathan and Ellara favour card tables. Learning to count cards from a young age and to read people, Ellara has excellent 'luck' at a table.

Grifting
Due to their given lifestyle, most Jäger cannot hold down a job and must rely on less savory methods to get by. Due to this, Ellara has learned how to con people out of their money using a variety of cheap tricks, stacked bets and otherwise false pretenses.

Mixologist
One of the more popular bartenders at the 'Tír na nÓg', Ellara is responsible for maintaining the supplies and inventory of the bar. Outside of this, she serves customers, generally working in the evening and leaving before midnight. As a bartender, Ellara is very familiar with the preparation of classic cocktails and is responsible not only serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks but also for formulating new, themed or seasonal drinks for the bar's various events.

Pickpocket
From a young age, Ellara was taught by her mother to blend into a crowd, but she was encouraged to let her hands wander. Training on a coat rigged with bells, Ellara learned how to deftly snake her hands in and out of pockets, purses and anything else that could hold a plump wallet. While she has gotten rusty, desperate times have pushed for her to try again.

Pragmatic Combatant
As Ellara's 'Ancestral Activation' is far from consistent or reliant and as it has only occurred in a very recent part of her life, she can't count on it in a fight. As her true nature has always been with her, the supernatural have been attacking her the majority of her life and because of this, Ellara has become accustomed to fighting with whatever is at hand. Capable of thinking quickly on her feet and making the best use of her surroundings, Ellara has become an accomplished pragmatist.

Street Smart
Ellara has the experience and knowledge necessary to deal with any potential difficulties or dangers of living in a modern urban environment. Raised on the road, Ellara's parents never shyed away from letting Ellara see the world for what it was. She knows how to get what she wants and she's aware that money and sex appeal go a lot further than manners or hardwork. Ellara can figuratively listen to the rhythm of a city's heart to locate whatever service she desires whether legal or illegal.

Diana Roy (neé Van Abrams) (Deceased)
When her sister and law was found murdered, Diana's brother Jonathan turned up on her doorstep with his young daughter in tow asking his sister to keep her safe. As an unactivated Jäger, Jonathan assumed nothing would come looking for Diana but unfortunately all Jäger, activated or not are at risk. Raising Ellara from the age of seven until her death during Ellara's sophomore year of high school, Diana never tried to be Ellara's mom, something that the young woman never had a chance to properly thank her for.

Jonathan Van Abrams (Deceased)
Originally a young, cocky, Jäger, Ellara's father was immediately sobered to the realities of the Path after the death of his wife Sofia. Traditionally trained by the Council, Jonathan had always seen rules more as guidelines that applied to other people and so he took a wife while on the Path despite the Council's obvious displeasure. It was only after Sofia's death that Jonathan realized the wisdom in the council's rules. Leaving his daughter in the arms of his sister, Jonathan went off in search of vengeance for Sofia only to die himself seventeen years later from the same unknown foe.

Thomas Roy
The husband of the late Diana Roy, Thomas Roy is Ellara's estranged Uncle and as far as she knows, her last surviving family member. The pair had never been particularly close but the distance between them became notable following Diana's death. As he was aware of both Diana and Jonathan's lineage, Thomas holds Ellara responsible for Diana's death and so when the girl graduated high school, he cut all ties with her out of fear and a selfish need for self-preservation.

Sofia Van Abrams (neé Castell) (Deceased)
A young free-spirited woman, Ellara's mother met Jonathan while the latter was walking the Path, having taken a detour into Whistler in pursuit a particularly malevolent gancanagh who had been preying on tourists. Upon meeting Jonathan, Sofia fell head over heels and became enamored with the ruggedly handsome Jäger. The two enjoyed a whirlwind romance which culminated in the birth of their daughter, Ellara. Traveling the Path as a family, Sofia was rarely away from her daughter, imparting everything she could onto the girl until her unfortunate death eighteen years ago.

Jäger Council of Elders
During the height of the Jäger's history, a council of their wisest was put together to train and govern over the others to ensure the survive of the order. While the Jäger themselves have diminished greatly over the course of the last couple centuries, the Council still exists, reaching out to newly activated Jäger in order to try and maintain some semblance of their order.

Ellara's roommate for the past eight months, the pair moved in together after Ellara was evicted from her apartment in downtown Santa Celia for missing rent due to her spiraling behavior following the death of her father. While Natalie and Ellara aren't close by any means, the pair is civil and friendly on the times when they do converse with one another. At this point, however, neither knows anything about the other's past or abilities.

Patrick O'Sullivan
Patrick 'Paddy' O'Sullivan is a kindly older man who owns and operates the Tír na nÓg pub on Milk Street. Having met Ellara while she was serving out her community service, Paddy took an immediate liking to the girl and her attitude and offered her a job at his pub to help the young woman get on her feet. Since then, the two have bonded with Paddy acting as a surrogate grandfather to the girl who never knew her own. Paddy has a soft spot for Ellara that doesn't go unnoticed by his other staff and as of lately has become something of a tense issue due to Ellara's spiraling behaviour.

6th Street Blood Cult
The 6th Street Blood Cult is a gang specializing in the creation and distribution of designer drugs. The trafficking of the drugs is often done in conjunction with prostitution, the prostitutes giving their clients a free hit in order to get them hooked, coupling two repeat businesses together. That all said, the price for the Blood Cult's services is quite high, given that the majority of the gang's members are also vampires. It's not uncommon for a customer to turn up deceased and completely drained of blood.

Wodan's Clan Motorcycle Club
A motorcycle gang that frequents Santa Celia's West Side, the Clan often comes to blows with the Blood Cult due to both groups heavily dealing in the drug trade. In addition to trafficking, the Clan also takes under the table work, often in the form of hired muscle. Violent crime tends to follow the gang where ever they go, though convictions rarely stick as their victims' cause of death is almost always found to an animal attack. This is because the Clan is predominantly made up of werewolves meaning they're the last group of bikers you want to run into under a full moon.

121b Stoker Street, Ruthven Heights, Unit 814
An office building converted into a thirteen story apartment complex, Ruthven Heights is located in Santa Celia's former bottling district, Milk Street. For the time being, is where Ellara calls home after being evicted from her previous residence in the city's ritzy downtown. Down on her luck and spiraling, Ellara was forced to look for a roommate to split costs in order to keep her living expenses down. As such, Ellara lives in a modest two-bedroom apartment that she shares with Natalie Ellis. The pair began living together after Ellara's downward spiral forced her to abandon her own apartment and seek out a roommate to make the costs of living more manageable. Both girls keep to themselves, communicating often only when necessary.

Ellara's room is spartan and unkempt, piles of both clean and discarded clothes fill the corners of the room. A disorganized closet sits open, the doors nearly falling off their hinges while its contents hang loosely from mismatched hangers. Ellara's bed is never made, and often the sheets and comforter too lay upon the floor instead of atop the mattress. Empty bottles and cans often litter her bedroom floor though Ellara does at least make an effort to remove them every few days least the smell offend Natalie.

The Tír na nÓg
The Tír na nÓg, or simply the 'Nog' is a pub located on Milk Street and was among the first of a new wave of development that spread to the district during the tail end of the Nineties. Modeled after a traditional Irish Pub, the interior is often dimly lit and is decorated in dark colours with oak based moldings, wooden plank floors, and black leather accents. The bar itself is made of solid white oak and covered in a dark varnish. Behind it are mirror-backed, lightly illuminated shelves which are always fully stocked with just about every poison on the market to quench any thirst.

The pub is split between two levels, with the bottom floor having a private dining room, a raised stage and dance floor and of course numerous booths all centered around the bar which sits three steps below the rest of the bar. The kitchen and facilities are also hidden away on the lower level, with the kitchen tucked away behind the bar while the restrooms are towards the exit.

The upper floor is a mezzanine, providing additional viewing for the stage along with several booths and small tables. There's also a second, smaller bar towards the back of the upper level which is only used over the weekend and for special events. A pair of offices also sit on the upper floor, the larger of the two belonging to Patrick O'Suliven, the Nog's first and only owner, while the smaller is a rotating office used by the front of house, kitchen and bar managers including Ellara herself.

Milk Street Bottling District
Once home to the city's milk bottling factory, the Milk Street District has become known as something of a 'hipster' neighborhood with old factories converted into unique housing, clubs, and dive-bar concert halls. A common alternative for the mature students and young working class of Santa Celia, the Milk District offers a completely different feel, being much more down to earth than some of the city's other neighborhoods. Due to its slight distance from the center of the city and the old bottling factory, the neighborhood is filled with its own sights, sounds, and tastes. Milk Street is considered an ideal location for underground concerts and raves due to the large, abandoned factories which sit empty. The area seems to tailor itself in particular to alternative acts and indie artists.

Noah looks like someone who has yet to grow into his own body. Thin and lanky, his arms and, legs both appear over-sized to his torso. Although his left leg is shorter than the right due to his hip dysplasia. Thick, heavy framed glasses sit firmly on his nose, several pieces of scotch, duct and electrical tape placed at various points to hold the damaged frame together. His hair is quiffed, a dark brown colour with various streaks of lighter brown and blonde throughout due to time spent outside. His skin likewise holds a healthy sun-kissed tan, with several freckles starting on the bridge of his nose and spreading across his cheeks under either eye. A light five o'clock shadow can be seen growing in although around his cheeks and often kept shaven.

In terms of style, Noah prefers loose fitting clothing which hides his lithe build. Due to time spent running in his animal forms, he has built up his muscles his physique being more akin to that of a runner or swimmer than his style leads one to believe. Noah is never without his messenger bag or his crutch, and can often be seen heavily on it.

Character Synopsis

Born and raised in Crestwood Hollow, Noah William Gallagher Jr. lived his entire life in the Southern portion of the city, growing up amidst the ever-expanding suburbs. His parents were high school sweethearts, meeting during their sophomore year and falling quickly and madly in love. Noah's mother, Sophia discovered she was pregnant the night of their prom and announced it to Noah's father, his namesake after the pair was crowned the Prom's King and Queen. In his excitement, Noah Gallagher Sr. accidentally revealed his Hyperhuman Ability, a shower of sparks emitting from his hands, gathering the attention of the graduating class.

Taking Sophia home, Noah was jumped by his former teammates, the Mather Memorial Ravens. Noah had been the school's quarterback, one of the most popular men in school and by extension, Sophia had been fallen into the cliché of being the head cheerleader. She was the definition of the 'It Girl' and for her to have not only laid with but also to have been impregnated by a Hyperhuman was salt to the wound. Unskilled with his abilities, Noah was unable to defend himself as he was beaten to death by the school's football team.

The local police swept the hate crime under the rug, pinning the blame on a local drunk. Sophia meanwhile died during childbirth, the strain creating tears in her heart that ultimately led to her death. Her last breath was used to name the child after his father. Alone in the world, Noah Jr. was taken in by Sophia's parents, William and Sydney, his grandparents who raised him and his Aunt Danielle, Sophia's younger sister.

Growing up next door to the Harpers, young Noah and Ivy were near inseparable. Noah filled Ivy's want of a sibling and even from a young age, Noah was smitten with the older girl. As they aged though, the pair drifted apart and by the time they reached high school the pair were little more than familiar acquaintances.

During his youth, Noah was scarcely seen without the accompaniment of a large black Shiloh Shepherd owned by his grandparents. Outside of Ivy Harper, the dog, Achilles, was Noah's only friend while he was growing up. The pair went everywhere together and on one such occasion found themselves in Mather Park. Cornered by a mugger, Achilles sprung to Noah's defense attacking the man but in the struggle, the mugger's gun fired and Achilles died before he could make it to the veterinary hospital.

In his grief, Noah's powers manifested and his body began to mimic Achilles' appearance. The pain of his body warping caused immense strain on Noah's body and the transformation failed but not without causing irreparable damage. Noah was left with a permanent limp, walking with the assistance of a crutch. Eventually learning to control his transformations, Noah began to enjoy running in the form of a dog and during on his adventures stumbled across Ivy.

The girl was out for a walk by herself and so, in the form of a dog dubbed 'Shadow', Noah began to walk with her. He listened as the girl talked about her problems, her interests, whatever else came to mind. Despite the fact that the two had grown apart, Noah's feelings for Ivy had never changed. Due to his injury and the distance between them since their childhood, Noah lacked the confidence to approach Ivy as himself, but as 'Shadow' he could be a friend to her as Achilles had to him.

Despite being unable to participate in the more athletic extracurriculars at Mather Memorial, Noah stays involved by volunteering with the student council, school paper, radio and acting as the assistant editor for the school's yearbook. When word of Dr. Lehrer's Hyperhuman Program reached him, Noah took pause as attending would essentially out him as a Hyperhuman, the same act that led to the death of his father. Deciding instead that he'd attend as a Student Council member, Noah has decided to no out himself and keep his gifts a secret.

Personality

Noah is an insecure young man who hides behind a smile. He's aware of how off-putting his injuries can be to some people and loathes people looking down on him, hiding behind false sympathy. But he's also scared due to the realization he is a Hyperhuman, the same thing that led to his father being killed.

Due to this, Noah puts on a friendly outgoing facade which led to his numerous extracurriculars in order to compensate for his physical appearance. Noah's involvement allows him to blend into the crowd of the Mather Memorial, being memorable for what he does and not who he is. Above all else, Noah does not want to be known as 'the kid with the crutch' or worse, 'the Hyperhuman'.

However, Noah has another side. Something of a pessimist, he often jumps to the worst case scenario and is not quick to trust due to seeing the worst in people long before he ever starts to see the good in them. Despite this, he's something of a hopeless romantic and wears his heart on his sleeve, thus leading to his near-stalkerish behaviour towards Ivy Harper over the past couple of years.

A fragment of the Knight’s Templar, Constantine’s Guard are a group of extremists dedicated to exterminating anything on Earth that is not human. Despite being small in numbers, Constantine’s Guard are highly efficient at taking down beings much more powerful than themselves using stolen or recovered prototype technologies. Constantine’s Guard has been linked to numerous biomedical organizations over the years and it’s theorized that they may be experimenting with bioweapons to diminish the growing superhuman population.​

It should be noted that the Guard's bias extends to far beyond superhumans and originates in the supernatural, primarily those possessing Witch Blood. The Guard will hunt down and destroy anything that even remotely meets their perceived definition of 'dangerous', doing so with extreme prejudice. It is not publically known how the Guard recruits new members to its ranks but it is believed they have been doing so over the past two years through weapon contracts created with both the U.S. Military and numerous local law enforcement agencies. In addition to recruitment, these contracts have been used for an underground arms race, aiming to close the gap between humans and superhumans alike.

Jäger Physiology
Ellara has a unique physiology gained from a long ancestry dating back most famously to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. While her abilities are underdeveloped, Ellara still possesses several differences from a base human. The first of these differences is nearly undetectable, Ellara possesses two additional cones in her eyes' photoreceptor cells which allows her to see things that escape detection from the average human eye. Predominantly, this allows Ellara to see and detect the presence of the supernatural whether those around her want to seen or not. Ellara's sense of smell and her sense of hearing are also enhanced and with the proper training could be honed to the point where Ellara's hearing or sense of smell alone could compensate entirely for the loss of her sight. Additionally, Ellara possesses a sixth sense, a sort of supernatural 'radar' that provides her with an overwhelming 'gut feeling' whenever she's in the vicinity of something belonging to the supernatural.

The most notable aspect of Ellara's Jäger Physiology is her resilience to physical harm. As a Jäger, Ellara's body is substantially more durable and resistant to blunt force trauma than that of an ordinary human's and she possesses an incredibly high pain tolerance. It is difficult, though not impossible, to bruise Ellara and even more difficult to create strain on her joints or break her bones. Ellara possesses a sort of metaphysical strength that is not related to her physical mass and thus is hard to fully gauge. At best, it puts her above a trained strongman but not on a level that one would consider superhuman. Likewise, her physical speed, agility, and reflexes are also enhanced and while impressive to an average human, anyone one of these attributes would be rapidly outpaced by an individual possessing a superhuman trait of the aforementioned.

While a regular person may require eight to ten hours of sleep, Ellara requires considerably less but still needs rest to function. Ellara herself is capable of staying awake for days but this will result in her 'crashing' and her body forcing her to sleep for half a day. Provided Ellara is left undisturbed while she recuperates, there will be no lingering disabilities. When sleeping, Ellara can recover from most non-lethal injuries, the severity of which will determine how long she requires rest. Likewise, her body can sustain itself on very little food and water, having nearly double the threshold for dehydration or starvation that a human has, which leads to Ellara eating relatively lightly on an average day but capable of putting away large amounts of food after a long fought battle.

Limitation(s)
The Jäger's sixth sense for the supernatural is not accurate, it can only inform the Jäger that there is a being of supernatural origin within a fifty-foot radius. It cannot determine who is the supernatural being or even what kind of supernatural being it is. A Jäger who is not accustomed to the sensation of their 'sixth sense' may also feel nauseous, even violently ill which would do them more harm than good. Additionally, Ellara's Jäger Physiology does nothing to alert her of the presence of enhanced beings outside of the supernatural spectrum.

Ellara is also something of a technophobe, preferring to do things by hand whenever possible and using computers and cellphones sparingly. Furthermore, a lifetime of seeing what others can't has left Ellara in poor mental health and quite damaged. This has led to Ellara often refusing friends, help or aid even when in need of any of the aforementioned.

Weakness(es)
There are several noticeable weaknesses to Ellara's Jäger Physiology. The first of which is that in the same way Ellara can see the Supernatural, they too can see what she is. When her abilities see through the disguise of a supernatural, her own nature is revealed to them. Despite their resounding resilience against blunt force, a Jäger can be injured by conventional bullets, bladed weapons, and more advanced weaponry just as easily as an ordinary human can. Likewise, despite being able to perform it, Jäger's are not immune to magic and can be harmed or even killed from offensive spells.

All Jäger suffer from a weakness to 'Witch Blood' which is a literal term and refers to blood belonging to a living practitioner of magic. Weapons or objects laced with Witch Blood have a toxic reaction with a Jäger, causing burns upon contact and preventing wounds from closing. Ingestion of Witch Blood can lead to a Jäger being reduced to human levels if not outright killing them pending the quantity of dosage.

As a Jäger's primary method of recovery is through sleep, this leaves them with only two choices while injured requiring them to either continue fighting while wounded or to retreat in order to sleep. Either way, this decision could lead to the Jäger's untimely death due to falling in battle or being discovered while unable to defend themselves.

Like the Einherjar of lore were said to be brought to Valhalla by the Valkyrie, so the Jäger were brought to Earth through their creation at the hands of the Seraphim.

Ellara has a unique physiology gained from a long ancestry dating back most famously to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. A form of Nephilim, the Jäger are a near-human subspecies created by the Seraphim to guard the Earth following their dwindling number of both Erelim and Hishim in the aftermath of the War of Fallen. Due to this, they have an enhanced physiology, possessing several subtle supernatural traits.

All Jäger possess two additional cones in their eyes' photoreceptor cells that can be seen using modern optometry equipment. These two additional cones, allow the Jäger to see a world that is completely hidden to the human eye. The primary use of these additional cones is the detection of supernatural creatures and beings which hide among the human population.

-Denser bone and muscle structure allowing for higher thresholds in strength, speed and pain tolerance than natural humans. Skin cells are designed and layered in such away to distrubute force and blast more evenly across the surface, reducing damage from blunt force impact.
