Raiders and Ruins
In a world of orcs and elves, dragons and magic, you've got to evolve past the medieval period at some point. And for our world, we did just that. All the way up to the creation of the Atomic Bomb, at which point we bombed ourselves back to the stone age. (Metaphorically). Now mutants roam irradiated cities and bands of raiders, cultists and other psychopaths roam the wasteland in packs. The only settlements that survive for long are ones who can defend themselves from such threats, but most people are out wandering along the roads.
In this rp, we will be playing as a group of survivors, struggling to get by in a world of chaos, raiders, radiation, mutants, monsters and magic. It's basically a combination of whatever fantasy tropes you enjoy and whatever post-apocalyptic tropes you enjoy. We can work together to decide what exactly our setting is like, the names of various settlements and details about the pre-war world, as GM I'll have final say over whether or not something can fit in to the world we've built so far, but I'm pretty happy for anything at this point.
OOC will be used to discuss details about the world and about various plot points, I can make a discord or we can just use pm on here to discuss plot points and character interactions if people want, you guys let me know.
Character Creation rules:
- Players are limited to 2 characters max
- If you're playing a race that isn't common knowledge and hasn't been established already, post a brief description of what they're like.
- Obvious stuff like no OP characters and the sort applies, as always.
Magic Rules:
- It does rule
- It's also very easy to make overpowered, so I'm going to have to limit what wizards and the like are able to do with magic
- To perform magic you need a staff or wand, if you try to do magic without one you'll blow your hand off
- Magic cannot be used to create food or water, or get rid of radiation
- Transmutation, transfiguration, alteration, alchemy, whatever you want to call it, it's not to be abused. You can transform things into other things but it's not easy and will take a lot of time and energy to get right.
- Conjuration magic, similarly, is very dangerous and requires a lot of time to do. If you wanna summon a demon or other magical being, you need a summoning circle and risk the summoned creature getting loose if the circle isn't handled properly.
- Damaging spells like fireballs and lightning bolts are there, but you're not gonna be able to take out a whole gang of raiders with one spell. That would require a tremendous level of power.
- Basically, any spell that is powerful enough to potentially be OP is gonna either require a lot of time and resources or is gonna be straight-up impossible. You can still do lots of little things with magic (making illusions, shooting individual enemies, making things fly, etc) but I don't want it to become a game that's just how much can spellcasters outdo each other.
