Makes sense in a story-wise. Your character certainly has been on the outs too throughout the entire RP. Hmmm... @Jerkchicken would you mind if Chres takes Octavio up on the offer for the first shift? That would leave you with Karina and Týfurkh for some one on one on one. well... at least until @13org has Karina report to the Nation of Touch. :)

It'll probably take a while though. They're in a pretty tough situation, being basically isolated inside the city.

The only way I can see for Karina to be able to get in contact with the military of touch is either if she gets out of the city, if enough time passes without her entering in contact with the military to justify them sending a small team to rendezvous with her or (the easiest option, but the most taxing to her body) to make something akin to a spotlight with a few of the Jade candles by making something to amplify their light with her ice (and break the distortion enough so ppl can see it from the outside.

That's a pretty clever idea with the spotlight.

What about a lone firework, since fireworks do exist in this world? The way I see it, they must have provided you with some way to signal them should something go wrong.

I see a small bit of an issue with any kind of light-based signaling: It's more or less visible to the cult too. If jade candles are involved the subsequent 'blackout' in the distortion would put them on even higher alert and betray the group's current hideout rather prominently. So whatever kind of fireworks is going to be launched maybe it would be a better idea to do so at an offset location? Close enough to inform the outside world but far away enough to leave enough of that protective uncertainty. Once, if, help arrives it can still be guided in with more precision then.

I does not. Now if we were dealing with the Discarded of Hearing, well that distortion would certainly have some interesting effects.

So I think now is a good time to do some Crystal Jade 101.

Crystal Jade has the following properties:

-It sparkles in the light.
-It gives off a greenish glow in the dark.
-If you shatter it, it will give off a burst of lingering light.
-This light will make you go blind if you are exposed to it enough. So it should be used sparingly.
-if two pieces of crystal jade are touching one another, they will slowly fuse together to form one crystal.

Other things to know:

-Crystal Jade is mined from a multiple mines located around the vicinity of the capital of the Nation of Sight.
-This is the only place it is found. Thus making it abundant in the capital.
-Crystal Jade is probably on of the The Nation of Sight's biggest exports. Their biggest buyer is The Nation of Hearing.
-Crystal Jade has been in short supply for other Nations since the war started. This is especially true for the Nation of Touch since the war started.
-Crystal Jade is some what pricey. Most common people stick with normal candles, however inns will often have a supply of them available.

@Fetzen brought up an interesting idea, to use Týfurkh's directional wave ability from a high location to possibly contact scouts from the military of touch or something.

Unlike my previous idea, it is certainly much more discreet, as using jade candles would basically erect a pillar of 'nothingness' to the sightless, basically telling everyone where they are.

The questions I have regarding this new plan are: is it possible to know their exact location (north, south etc.) while inside the distortion? If yes, then Karina could easily tell Týfurkh where the forward base is located so he can send an SOS to that direction.

We were talking about this too, but if the distortion doesn't block hearing, it would be easy for them to receive some type of acoustic confirmation from the FOB that their message was received, right? Again, it wouldn't be exactly discreet, unlike Týfurkh's ability. but it should be enough.

It sounds (no pun intended) like a solid plan for me. What about you two?

In regards to your first question about how to tell the direction you are facing. The answer is yes and no. In the morning, the sun will always rise in the North, however it will alternate each day in regards to which direction the sun will set in. For example, one day the sun will set in the east, and during the next day it will set in the West.

That being said, there's a much more consistent way to tell which direction is north while in Shimmer Town. That is done by the positioning of the nearby lake. Lake Shimmer borders the north side of Shimmer Town.

As for your second question, yes. Sound is completely unaffected by the distortion. I think the plan is a solid idea. I'm definitely down for it.

On a side note, I've been considering having the innkeeper interrupt and mention that he is aware of some people who have been plotting a resistance against the Cult for a while now. That way we don't have to orchestrate an entire riot from the ground up. I'll probably do this whenever I post next.

It's an interesting idea. Although I do believe the best course of action right now is trying to get out as soon and discreetly as possible.

Týfurkh's ability might be exactly what we need for that. Even if we don't receive an answer from the military of touch, as long as they hear, it'll be enough for them to come. Especially if Karina tells Týfurkh exactly what to say... Not only because she is the daughter of the general, but because she is an important member and has really valuable information.

@Pezz570 Are there any towers in the vicinity that still stand and with staircases or ladders intact ? Otherwise we'll have to climb XD (though that would be fun!)

I'll probably be doing a Tayla post at some point soon to show what happened to her, along with a plot point to show what's going on with the sightless. Those two maybe combined, but probably now. After you all have done some chitchat, I'll do another plot point to progress the story to the next day along with an interlude plot point.
