I guess Ari would be extremely unusual by Atlantean standards then, being a black haired telepath in human form. If it's a hard and fast rule for the humanoid denizens of Atlantis, I could go with my original idea of her having golden hair then incorporate gold somewhere in the seal. If not, it'd be one more way she could surprise people who only look at her surface appearance.

The 'curse of blonde hair' came from Kordax, a villain and ancestor of Aquaman. The Curse of Kordax is why Aquaman was supposedly abandoned as an infant (post- Crisis on Infinite Earths). In this version of Aquaman's origin his mother, Atlanna, has red hair and not listed as having telepathic abilities.

The more current (Rebirth) version of Aquaman mentions nothing of the curse nor Kordax. Atlanna now also has blonde hair and the ability to control sea creatures telepathically. Her son and Aquaman's half-brother, Ocean Master, also has this ability yet has black hair.

@Omega Man I plan on applying for a surface born daughter of an Aquatic/Fish God. A demigoddess with similar powers to Aquaman in possession of the Trident and with blessings of Poseidon yet on a lower scale.

I hope to get the CS up tomorrow night.

I had a character in another RP that floundered that I wouldn't mind trying out here.

Also the demigod child of an ocean deity but a bit... different. Turns out being the child of a dead god makes your DNA go screwy.

“…Child of dark! Herald of void!
First-born of the gods, or else their elder!
We know the truth: the world above the waves is nought but wan reflection of thy realm,
and we merely its fragile custodians.
O! Drown the world! Snuff out the stars!
We beseech thee, Great Mother, that all might hear thy song
Borne endless ‘cross the sable deeps!"

Don't apology for trying to add to roleplay =P

Do we need to discuss our characters a bit in PM so we don't build them too similar?

@Red X If your character is similar to Aquaman there shouldn't be too much overlap.

Besides minor super strength and durability along with being amphibious, I'm looking at other powers such as: Hydrokinesis, Magic Resistance, and/or Weather Manipulation.

I'll likely finish developing the Sub Diego native with metahuman giant growth I started working on a couple years back when I tried this concept for an iCheck....

@Red X To be succinct, I'm going for an underwater Martian Manhunter sort of thing. Shapshifting and Telepathy as primary powers.

My character will be a member of the Drift and protege of Murk that was handpicked by Mera to join Arthur. He'll be the teams combat specialist.

Sounds fantastic. With all the backline fighters and rouges we have, a solid person who can survive frontline duties would be a blessing. Hope to see the cs soon. Depending on how you play him, he and Ari might have some fun bouncing off each other.

I’m working on a deep sea diver version of Blue Devil who got stuck in his super tough diving suit. Think Luke Cage with a trident with a dash of Marvel’s Box.

Name: Leonard Winfield

Codename: None, really. His friends call him Lenny.

Age: 43

Home: Originally Providence, Rhode Island. However, he has been bumming around the Seven Kingdoms for the last year.

Powers/Abilities: Leonard is changing into... something. Whatever it is, it's enormously more powerful than a human. His sheer physicality is superhuman, easily on par with most Atlanteans. In particular, he is especially resistant to extreme cold and pressure, and attacks of psychic and magical natures have little effect on him. Leonard's regenerative ability is frankly shocking, able to heal from flesh wounds at a visible rate, and even regrow entire limbs if needed.

Beyond its superhuman qualities, Leonard's biology is highly adaptable. One could even describe it as amorphous. As needed, he can reshape and mutate himself into a variety of new forms or to possess new adaptations or abilities. These transformations typically resemble aquatic, usually picine, creatures in nature. However, as Leonard's body continues to change, he find that he is unable to reverse certain transformations. The gills running along his neck and chest, for instance, as well as several patches of scales across his body, and his left eye.

Additionally, Leonard is a powerful psychic. Capable of telepathy at an enormous range, he can enter the mind of just about any living creature to commune with them, assault them with painful psychic feedback, influence them hypnotically, or attempt to overpower them and assume control of their bodies. Additionally, Leonard is capable of viewing and entering the dreams of others, where they are usually more susceptible to psychic suggestion, and is beginning to take control of the astral projection he performs in his own dreams. Leonard also possesses a passive psychic aura that he has little control over, which he calls his "Wake." People around him subconsciously treat him with a mix of deference and revulsion; crowds part at his passing, people find him difficult to look in the eye, and will quickly acquiesce to his demands, if only to get away from him. Powerful supernatural entities are immune to his Wake, a change Leonard finds refreshing.

Weaknesses: More extreme and esoteric uses of Leonard's powers extract a literal physical toll from him, as it expends portions of his potent, black blood, which gradually regenerates over time. Using his powers on land is far more taxing, increasing in its physical costs the further he is from water.

As well, electricity is unusually harmful to Leonard, and stunts his regenerative abilities. Man-made sources of electricity, such as power lines, are more damaging to him than lightning and other natural sources.

Equipment: Unfortunately none of Leonard's books or equipment are very effective underwater.

Experience: He's spent about a year under the waves, far less time accompanying Aquaman.

Reason For Joining: Aquaman and Leonard worked out a deal of sorts; if he lent the JLA his considerable powers for the betterment of the oceans, Aquaman would assist Leonard in finding out what was happening to him and why.

Appearance: Leonard is a small, bookish fellow, with a thin frame the belies his strength. He has curly, sandy-blond hair that hangs to about his ears, and a short beard. He used to wear glasses, but now has an eyepatch over his left eye to hide his "disformity." A wetsuit is his usual underwater getup, which hides most of his other irregularities.

BRIEF Bio: Possessed by an unusual fascination with the sea from a young age, Leonard Winfield grew up with aspirations of studying the ocean. Initially an oceanographer, the advent of Aquaman and the sinking of San Diego changed his field of study to the oceanic cultures that have predated and lived alongside humanity in secret; a burgeoning field as the Atlanteans seem loathe to share their secrets with the surface world.

However, a boating accident in the Pacific during an archeological expedition cast Leonard overboard during a storm, and his shipmates swore that they saw him drown. Despite this, Leonard awoke on the Northeastern coast of Australia three months later. He had no memory of the missing months but found that he had changed in ways beyond his understanding, neither human nor Atlantean. He retreated to the world beneath the waves, entreating the Atlanteans to aid him. None considered him worthy of notice save for their former King, who inducted him into his newly-formed League in exchange for helping him understand himself and what he was becoming.

Notes: The best lead Arthur and Leonard have found so far regarding his condition was a cult of Atlanteans known as the "Esoteric Order of Dagon," which worshiped an entity with powers somewhat similar to Leonard's. The cult attempted an invasion of the surface world over a century ago, but were pushed back by human military forces, and their underwater refuge was purged by the rest of their kind, the creature known as Dagon killed. This incident was covered up by human and Atlantean governments alike, and only Arthur's royal privilege granted access to the records concerning it.
