Rose hadn't noticed how much she had missed her mate Shareen until she had a sit down with Luna Lovegood. The witch while older and a bit odd, was good company. Rose had missed talking with someone and Luna was pretty receptive to her, unlike most of the people Rose had come across at Hogwarts. Luna seemed to be genuinely interested in what Rose had to say and she missed that, having someone she could rely on. Rose and Luna ended up getting a pot of tea and a tray of cookies while they chatted and perused the endless bookshelves of the library. Soon it was time for dinner but they didn't budge. It wasn't until the night completely fell upon them that they had a visitor. Rose had been expecting to see Mr. Smith or maybe Harry and Hermione but instead it was the Doctor. Her expression darkened slightly as she was still cross with him. But she and Luna and the Doctor chatted before Luna went off to get to bed.
That left Rose and the Doctor alone together. They talked and she accepted his apology though she was still bothered. She could put that aside though as it seemed like something was coming, as the Doctor could only predict. "Why can't I just open it for him? Does he really gotta do it?" She asked. Though it was decided upon that it would be more productive if the man willingly opened it himself and allowed the memories to come back to him, rather than forcing it to happen. Rose nodded with a bit of a sigh. If something was coming, they needed to be prepared. And from the sounds of it, it sounded like it was worse than plastic things coming to life. As much as she wanted to make a Voldemort reference, she refrained from doing so. They had matters to discuss. Rose agreed to try and get close to Mr. Smith so whenever something happened, she could at least look out for him as best she could.
They parted ways and Rose headed back to the Gryffindor Common Room. When she got there, no one else appeared to be up so she continued to the dorms. She quickly headed to bed and found herself up bright and early for some reason. Still feeling a bit emotionally drained, she got dressed and headed down to see Harry and Hermione talking between themselves. "Hello." Rose waved sleepily and walked over to the duo. They greeted her and said they'd be leaving soon for the muggle world. "Fun fun." Rose frowned. She wasn't sure if she wanted to tell Harry and Hermione about what might happen, even though she didn't even know what could happen. She decided to keep them out of the loop for now and hoped that they'd be gone if anything went horribly wrong. "You two go on and enjoy yourselves." She grinned a little, unable to stop herself from pushing the two teens together.
After that, Rose carried on and went down for breakfast. She wasn't sure if she wanted to hang around Mr. Smith anymore. It was difficult. And she was sure he was getting tired of being pushed to do something he didn't want to do. But Rose said all that she needed to say to the guy, that he should just do it instead of puttering around the topic. The idea that the Doctor was worried about something was pretty bad, sure they just met but if an alien from the future was worried, then she was sure something big was gonna happen. After breakfast, the girl decided to try and amuse herself. It was snowing outside and most of the people were gone, the ones remaining at the school were off doing their own thing and Rose wished she at least had her laptop or something. Even Mickey would be entertaining.
"Bloody hell, I almost feel like doing my homework." Rose ran a hand through her hair as she wandered along one of the many wide but barren corridors of the castle. "I wonder if I can find the Room of Requirement." She frowned. Of course if she got there and thought about going home, would anything even appear? It was worth a try. As she wandered, the day morphed into dusk and the perils of skipping lunch were beginning to tire her. The blond didn't feel like going into a large hall and sitting by herself so she decided to just keep wandering, even if it meant being unproductive. Her mind was still unsure about the Doctor and the other Doctor. It was all so weird and very sketchy. Even now, while walking around a magical school, Rose couldn't help but question her sanity and the possibilities in the universe. In the end, she knew so little, even less than what she thought previously. As she turned a corner, she saw Mr. Smith and she froze, unsure if she should go or follow him or what.
Instead though, he seemed like he had been looking for her as well as something else. He mentioned having opened the watch and that things were flooding back to him. Even so, he was hoping for her help to find the TARDIS since she had been in it before. "Um yeah sure, I can help you look...in this massive castle that hides things and moves staircases." She shrugged, more out of her depth now than she was five minutes ago. "D'you have anything to eat on you?" She asked the man. "I am starvin'."

While Luna was sure the Doctor and Rose could and would patch things up, she couldn't help but feel sorry for both of them in different ways. Yes, bridges had to be mended but she couldn't help but worry about her two friends. Sure, the Doctor should have helped Rose more since she was helping him in the first place. And Rose should have...well actually Rose wasn't at as much fault as the Time Lord. Even so, she was sure they would get better. It wasn't as if she knew some fragment of time had been ripped.
So her dreams that night were less frantic than the night before, she attributed that to being around the Doctor. He was so nice and smart and actually cared about her. It was sudden, yes, but it felt good. Luna knew she had to be careful though, not just because things could be dangerous but because she was still in a mentally and emotionally fragile state. Anything could set her off but she was doing her best to make long useful strides in recovery. When she woke up, she found a note from her father waiting for her on her night stand. She nervously opened it and read it. He was as odd as she was but his message was clear, he loved her no matter what and would welcome her home for the holidays and they would work her future out. Luna wasn't sure how to respond though. Her future was in front of her, closer than ever before but she didn't know if she really would be happy working with the Quibbler or something along those lines.
While she loved her father dearly, Luna just wasn't sure where she would be happiest. The girl set the letter down and got dressed for the day. It made her feel a bit more relieved to know that the vast majority of the school had left so there weren't too many eyes on her. She stepped out of her quarters and found herself inching her way towards the Great Hall. To her surprise and relief, she hadn't run into a single student or professor while in route. She entered and found a handful of children in total and none of them even looked over at her. For once, she enjoyed not being noticed. Luna found her table and began to fix herself a plate of breakfast. Truth be told, it felt good to be back in familiar territory. Of course the outing with the Doctor before had been around the ground and surrounding woods but this felt warmer and safer, even if it didn't hold too many happy memories for the woman.
Hogwarts and those in it still meant a great deal to her and she was ready to take steps forward in making better progress. Yesterday she had been inside the TARDIS and it was wonderful but Luna was torn between a life she knew and a life she was beginning to know. She had changed and now her goals may need to be adjusted. After breakfast was over, she saw Harry and Hermione leaving the school. They didn't see her but she wasn't too surprised at that. Luna could tell when they were together, no one else was really around, at least in their mind. It was cute. Luna had never experienced love but even then, she had read stories of it and from what she knew, Harry and Hermione were in love. She had no one with her now that the school was empty. Well, she had the Doctor but she wasn't sure if she should be with him, even just hanging out. Rose and Luna had talked it over but Luna still felt like she was in the middle of a mess, on accident of course.
And Rose had been kind to her, Luna didn't want to betray that. At the same time, she did find herself missing the tall lanky alien from outer space. Luna decided to see if he was busy. If he was, she would glady give him space to handle whatever he was doing. Still, she hoped he wasn't busy or upset because she wanted to spend time with him and try to help in any way she could. Finding his office empty, she wasn't sure where he would be. Luna spent another hour wandering and watching snow fall from the sky outside the windows. It was lunch time when she finally ran into the Doctor who said they could have lunch in his office if she liked. "I'd like that." She smiled to him and they headed off to go back and regain some fuel. As she sat down and brushed her long hair around to one side of her neck, draping it over her chest, the Doctor mentioned he had spoken to the Headmaster about finding a place for her.
Sitting up more, she gave him her attention as he said he had gotten her a spot by his side as a T.A. "Thank you so much." She said but then looked off. "I did receive a letter from my father this morning. He said I can come home any time and work with him and that offer was always going to be there for me when I did graduate but now..." Luna licked her lips. "I don't know what I want anymore, I've missed so much but gained even more." She paused. "And while your offer to help teach others is also thoughtful I don't know if I can accept it." She confessed. "I don't mean to offend but, I can't stay here forever and teach. I love Hogwarts but I don't think I could stay." She slouched her in seat as an elf brought them some food and quickly vanished. "And you mentioned taking me someplace amazing and that's all I can really think about. I don't know how long you do plan on staying but should you go, I'd rather go with you, if you'd take me." She bowed her head and quickly grabbed a sandwich. "I mean until then, I don't mind helping you out."

With the bright promise of a great Christmas break, the girl could barely sleep with so many thoughts buzzing around inside of her head. Hermione ended up packing, unpacking and then repacking her things before she forced herself to try and get some rest. When morning did come, she was up early and had her things in the Common Room by the time Harry joined her. Their things would be taken to the train for them so now they could get some breakfast and hurry along. Rose came down and they all said their goodbyes. Hermione could tell something was weighing on Rose's mind but she had no idea what it could be or why for that matter. And by now, Hermione was smart enough to not ask questions to a time traveler. It was all so complicated. "Have a good break. Merry Christmas." She could only say to the blond girl before she and Harry headed off to get breakfast.
Rose soon joined them and soon it was time to go. Hermione and Harry headed out of the Great Hall and hurried to tackle the snow falling outside. Due to the weather, Hermione wanted them to go down early and be careful. The train pulled up and they hurried on to escape the cold grasp of winter's fist. Once aboard, they found a compartment and seated themselves in it, ready to dash back home.
"I hope the weather isn't too awful." She noted as they watched the scenery flash by. The green hills and trees and lakes were all so breath taking. Hermione never grew tired to the train ride, it was always so magical. There was no other means of transport in her, except for cars of course. Unlike her best friends, she wasn't fond of flying perhaps because of her difficulty in the subject. Hermione didn't like struggling or failing for that matter. No matter the cause, personal or simply mental, she just didn't like flying on brooms. Of course while she wasn't interested or excited about it, she always went and supported the Quidditch games the boys became involved in. The sport was alright but she wasn't great with conflict or competition. Yes, she did like to be the best and know the most but she didn't like fighting or harboring bad blood toward people. That's what sports were all about.
The hours ticked by with Harry and Hermione talking, reading and eating snacks from the trolly. As noon rolled around, the train pulled into the station, its one and only destination. Hermione got to her feet but was unable to wait any longer for Harry. She darted off the train and found her parents waiting for her with the others. She hugged them both tightly. Being in such rubbish conditions at school had really put things into perspective. She was lucky and never would forget it but she just missed her mum and dad. Hermione turned to see Harry. "Oh sorry. I didn't mean to leave you." She said and stepped aside to give introductions. "These are my parents, clearly. And this is Harry." She then gestured to her friend with the scar on his forehead. They greeted one another and then everyone headed back through the bricks to go to the car which had been parked outside.
Only a light rain was there to greet them as they headed out into the parking lot. They packed up the car and hurried off towards home. Hermione spoke to her parents most of the way, filling them in. Her parents of course asked Harry questions and assured him that he would have a great time while on holiday. Once home, Hermione and Harry got their things inside and Hermione offered to show Harry around before anything else. "You saw the living room, kitchen downstairs and then this is my room." She said as she led him up to her room which was the first on the right. She opened it. It was a basic room, walls painting very light blue. She had a cozy bed, large desk and book cases. She saw Crookshanks sleeping on the bed and decided not to disturb him. "This is your room." Hermione pointed to the one across from her. It had the same inviting but simplistic tone to it. "It's not much but it's home." She smiled softly.
For the rest of the day, they unpacked and all talked over tea and cookies. Hermione's parents then made them a great stew for everyone. They ate and Hermione's parents turned in for the night since they had to work the following day, even though it would be Saturday. "I know they're not the most interesting sort." She said, trying to get comfortable with her magic side meeting her muggle side. But Harry was raised in a muggle family so she was sure he wasn't as uncomfortable as she was making him out to be. "How about a walk?" It wasn't too late even though they had finished supper. "Maybe we can see a movie or check out the park I mentioned." Hermione offered. This was his break as much as it was hers and she wanted him to have some input as well. And even though she was worried about him, she was sure they'd be able to find something they could both enjoy. If Ron was with them, that would be a lot harder.
That left Rose and the Doctor alone together. They talked and she accepted his apology though she was still bothered.
