I'm relatively new to DM'ing, but I've been playing Pathfinder for three or four years now, and I'm fairly comfortable with it. I've been working on an original setting for a bit now, and I'd like to play it out. The specifics of race detail, and other mechanical information that is changed, as well as a spreadsheet-CS link on google drive will be sent via PM.
As you can see in the tags, this will be a Medieval Fantasy setting, with a few unique elements. Namely, this setting will feature "weird sky" elements, as well as a strong presence in both fae and creatures-of-the-night. Not to say there aren't dragons and dwarves and other more ubiquitous fantasy elements, but at the same time, it's not exactly going to be widely magical. Mainly, I mean that the average world citizen will know magic is a thing that exists, but not how it works, and this will cause most average folk to harbor anywhere between mild to major mistrust of magic. And don't think that means Clerics are safe from this. They still do magic, and magic pushes the boundaries of what's 'normal', and that can make most people uncomfortable. But you're not most people. You're adventurers!
This RP will be more character driven, rather than me driving you guys through a series of dungeons or plots. Not that there won't be caves to explore or plots to unravel, but it'll be more-or-less your guys' choice. You'll be rolling your ability scores, particularly:
4d6 drop the lowest
Re-roll 1's once per 4d6
Roll 4 sets
Choose your ability scores from one of the sets and assign them as you desire

Now, you'll be starting at first level. I'll likely allow most classes, specifically core and hybrid classes, so just ask me about most options. Now, races will be detailed in a document that you will be sent, as listed above. Each race available has little touches to meld them into the world, and the flavor of a few classes may be tweaked. For instance, goblins are respectable folk, druids are dark- don't really assume too much off the bat. I won't restrict race/class combinations, but for certain classes, you may have to have certain elements of backstory to learn it in the first place.
You'll likely enter into an adventurer's guild (I'll make that an option, at least. Not going to force you, but it will be an option early on) from whence various adventures will unfold.
And here's your shorthand character sheet for now, with the more narrative pertinent information.

Edit: We will be using Roll20 to handle dice rolls (though you are free to use real dice for character generation, and if you feel the need to use real dice, just have some way to probe the timeliness of the roll.), and using an IC thread here on roleplayerguild for play-by-post progression. We will be using the OOC to resolve rolls and damage, while the IC is for the narrative resolution and descriptions of attempts and intent.
Let's say, for example, that you're attacking a zombie. In your post, you will describe your character's attempt at attack, while you post your roll for attack and damage (just to make it smoother,) in the OOC. I will then resolve the hits and damage in an IC post of my own in initiative order,
The reason we're not using the built in roller here is because it doesn't archive, and I can't really figure it out myself.

Edit Mk II: And just so you know, I'm not big on the whole extraplanar stuff. So expect (at least the flavor) of summoning and such to be changed. (Also don't even ask for summoner that isn't Unchained Summoner.)
Edit Mk III: Updated Narrative Character Sheet

Any questions, comments, or concerns? Feel free to ask me! I will try to be as newbie friendly as I possibly can.

I've been looking for somewhere to do Pathfinder recently! I think I may attempt to go the path of the Rage Prophet, so some sot of Barbarian into Oracle as we progress. What level do we plan on starting?

@Demonic Face As I mentioned (though I understand if you may have missed it, I didn't make it super obvious) you'll be starting at first level. I'll have to read Oracle and Rage Prophet though.
Edit: Oracle and Rage Prophet work out mechanically, but taking Oracle at later levels may come with some narrative requirements, based on its nature. There is a homebrew class that I've been tinkering with that could function in a way that would benefit you.

I'd be down for some Pathfinder. Would you allow the Samsaran Race? And are you doing favored class bonuses and/or traits? I plan on being a Chaotic Good Cleric of Milani.

Ah, I'm sorry for being blind ;w;

And yeah, I plan to start out as an Oracle. I am kinda curious what this new class is, though~

Awesome. Samsaran? Hm... I'm going to have to say that it doesn't really fit the world, sorry. Reincarnation spits in the face of the god of death, who's kind of a big deal in this world, so that wouldn't really fly.
I do so love favored class bonuses, so yes. Yes we will. Traits- sure, but they'll have to be justified. More gifts/boons from me for good writing, rather than things you pick yourself.
Chaotic Good Cleric works, but we're not playing in Pathfinder world, so it wouldn't be exactly Milani. I hope this is okay. I'll PM you the pertinent setting information shortly.

It's okay. It happens.
I thought you were starting barbarian. Either way is fine. And I PM'd you what I have so far. It's basically mapped out except for all the options that you can choose starting at 5th level. If you don't want it, that's fine. If you want to take it in place of Rage Prophet, that's also fine.

I will say we're getting a lot of divine classes through. I already have a friend who wants to be a paladin, and now we have people hopping in for cleric and oracle. This is an interesting turn.

Edit:
You already know I’m in.

Well speak of- there's our paladin.

@tobiaxI'm interested, but quick question or two? Thoughts on 3rd party content and the Kineticist class in general? The later has been something I've wanted to play forever and the fprmer is in regards to dome books i bought to further fiddle with the class in neat ways.

Haha. You'll have to be very persuasive to convince me to allow inquisitors, but I adore war priests.

Oh, hey dude! Thanks for the interest. Let me look that up-
Third party elements will be subject to case-by-case and element-by-element review. As such, I may OK individual archetypes or classes from a book, but not the entire book itself.

Solid. If you're okay with the class, then I'll send ya the pdf's for the books I'm hoping to use for the 3rd party stuff.

@Raijinslayer To be honest, Keneticist is pretty busy. On one hand, I like the concept, sort of. On the other hand, the planar influence stuff(though I didn't read the wild talents to see how deeply that's knit into the class) doesn't work with the worldview entirely, and it has too many ways to cover its weaknesses. I'm going to have to say no to it, sorry.

Fair nuff. I feel the planar thing can be written around because it's only flavor, but I can't say much for balance stuff. I will say that Burn is definitely a bigger issue in order make use of ur wild talents and other stuff, but yeah, I'll try to see if there's anything else I wanna try.

@Raijinslayer I do agree, but the class gives you a bit too many ways around Burn, and the compound attacks build damage too quickly. I may allow the class without the double element thing, and maybe some of the other things, because it seems to have an answer for every situation and not much of a limitation.

I'd say the burn work arounds are needed because Burn basically makes you easy to take out the more you take on. I've never been able to play the class, so I can't truly comment on how effective any of its abilities are since my own TTRPG knowledge isn't great.

Okay, to be fair- I like the gather power thing. It's cool. It has some shonen-anime elements a 'la Dragon Ball Z, which is neat. Though it does, in my opinion, seem to need a bit of, say, trimming. It just seems a bit all over the place.
That being said, maybe some of the archetypes smooth it out.

UNsure, but I do have a guide that I used to get me into the class. Maybe I could send ya the link to that to see if it gives you a better idea of how it's all supposed to function. It also covers the content of the 3rd party books I was looking into, though I might not use them since it mucks with the base class stuff.

Hey, I'm interested, though I'd of course like to know a bit more about the setting before committing to anything. Also, would a gunslinger be fine with you?
