Is it ok if I literally know NOTHING about my hero academia? I’m also unsure how the quirks work. Time to consult my weeb friends on that (also off to Wikipedia) I might join if there is still available space and you’re ok with my character!
Walter stands at 178 centimeters and weighs 77 kilograms. While he lacks defining facial features, he is clearly not Japanese, something that makes him stand out in a crowd. He typically wears heavier, functional clothing that gives him a hobo-look, and his voice is usually monotone. He speaks very formally.
The only difference between his civilian and villain identity is that he usually covers his mouth with a bandanna or piece of cloth.
Personality: Walter has lived almost all of his life on a military base, and it shows. Walter treats the people around him with immense respect, especially if they display traits that he recognizes as leadership/command. Subservience is natural to him, and he will follow the orders of those around him without question (although he may grow angry if these orders are not given politely). Respect is incredibly important for him, as is team cohesion - he will almost always follow the path of least resistance if it means preventing an argument in the group.
His months of freedom on the streets, however, have eroded his once ironclad moral code. While he once would abhor stealing or violence, he now is a hoarder of resources and money and is no longer constrained by morality - he is simply able to twist it in some way as to appear absolutely necessary.
Walter needs people to accept and offer him companionship - he is willing to do immense amounts of work in order to keep his 'friends' around and will be almost oppressively clingy and obedient around them. He is incredibly aggressive towards people who threaten those he thinks of as friends and will go to comical lengths to deliver 'justice' to even moderate insults.
Background: Walter was born and raised in Okinawa, Japan on an American military base. His father spent the vast majority of Walter's life absent, either stationed in another base temporarily or simply only coming back to base to sleep. His mother, while physically present, was emotionally distant and neglected Walter most of his developmental years, leading to his need for constant approval from peers.
Walter spent most of his youth around the other soldiers on base, who allowed him to participate in the physical training and work routine. Most of his childhood memories include doing menial labor alongside others or working out in the base's gym. However, the constant grunt labor he performed in order to help his other soldiers slowly wore him down, especially with the 'No quirk use' policy that covered the entire base. Walter grew to resent this aspect of military life, as he believes using his quirk would allow him to massively increase the work he could do.
When he was 17, Walter's father passed away in a car accident - the event was a happy one, as Walter barely knew his father and he received a staggering amount of attention and condolences from the other soldiers and families on base. It was only a few months after the funeral when the soldiers would stop including him in their games and work routines that Walter realized the truth - they let him join in solely because they knew his father. At least, this was the conclusion that Walter came to. In response, he stole a crowbar using his quirk, and ran away from the base, leaving the island of Okinawa as fast as possible.
Walter continued to steal via his quirk, a technique he perfected over four months living on the streets of various cities he visited. It was only recently that he found what he was looking for all along - a group that would accept a high school dropout like him, and allowed him free use of his quirk whenever he wanted. The chance to make actual friends his age was all the more enticing.
Aspiration: Companionship. Walter simply seeks a community that will accept and treat him as part of a group, and that the group he joins allows him free use of his quirk.
Strengths:
Long-Range Combat: A combination of his experience with firearms and the nature of his quirk allow Walter to excel at ranged combat.
Manpower: Whether it is grunt labor or suicide tactics, Walter's quirk excels at providing disposable bodies to work with.
No Conscience: Walter lacks a major form of conscience or remorse and is thus able to do many underhanded and deplorable acts without a second thought. This is partially genetic, partially from his neglected and generally negative childhood.
Weaknesses:
Support: Walter will always resort to being a follower - if anyone in his team is present, he will rarely take any initiative on his own, instead doing his best to support them. While he can somewhat act alone, if any form of communication with his team is possible, he will always resort to this to ask for instructions.
Loyalty: The few times Walter does take initiative, it is to follow up on his loyalty to others - if a teammate is in danger or is slighted, he will almost always resort to violence, usually of the reckless variety. In addition, he cannot accept debts and will go to great lengths to pay others back - even if they are enemies.
Quirk: Soldier
Walter can secrete black dust from his skin at will, which will rapidly condense into a humanoid figure that he controls. He can make several of these 'Soldiers,' and shares their senses via a hivemind.
Skills/Talents:
Discipline: Walter is able to endure far more than the average person while keeping the mission objective in mind and is especially stubborn in anything he sets his mind for.
Fitness: Significantly stronger than the average man his age, Walter was very focused on getting physically fit.
Marksmanship: One of the few things that Walter remembers fondly from his teenage years on the base, he managed to score very high in marksmanship competitions for his age group.
Inventory:
Heavy Clothes: Stolen from a thrift store when he left Okinawa, these clothes are extremely used and give Walter a homeless look.
Crowbar: The only thing that he took with him from the base, the crowbar was mainly intended as a means of protection while living on the streets.
Akari is fairly short, at 5'3 (if you round up, which she does). Her hair colour is in no way natural, and the nature of her eye colour is also up for debate. What were they originally? Why did she change them? It's none of your business.
Personality: At a first glance, Haze doesn't have a particularly villainous personality. She's playful and has a real soft spot for kids, something that can be a bit of a hindrance in doing what she does. She likes flowers and she likes the colour pink. Normal, normal things.
There's just a few things. First of all, her temper. It takes very little to agitate her, and her anger manifests itself in many unpredictable ways. It isn't as if she'll get a little miffed, when she gets angry, she gets furious, and paired with her impatience, the results can be disastrous. Anything from a dirty look to hitting her toe will set her off, and it isn't uncommon for her to get a little violent when she gets especially riled up.
Second, she's a bit of a control freak. She can be a real pain - comply, willingly or otherwise and she'll never stop, or refuse and she'll get angry. From time to time, Haze can be self-aware, but these moments are few and far between.
Background: Akari remembers lots of things. She remembers a room with a fan. She remembers silence. She remembers hunger. She remembers pain. She does not remember her father.
She remembers her mother, though. Dresses that showed a little too much and perfume they still couldn't afford. It didn't matter though, because she could always save money by skipping dinner. Akari's dinner, that was. But kids are such a pain. When children whine, they're so annoying. Leave it in the room with the fan, and maybe it'll learn to shut up. Maybe it'll cry, but at least it'll cry quietly.
She remembers her quirk manifesting. It was like a whole new door was opened for her. Well, not a new door, but an old one that had been closed for far too long. She had even dreamed of being a hero, but only for a minute. It was never going to happen, and it never did. Life was good, but as they say, you can seal off your doors for $20. So it was her, the room, the fan, and the beam of light that wasn't there anymore.
She remembers holding a funeral for it. She also remembers another funeral, one for her mother. Two people went to that. Akari, and the devil, collecting her mother's soul. He looked her right in the eye and said "I'll see you soon." She told him to fuck right off. So far, he's complied.
She remembers the streets, and how they treated her. Her quirk proved to be useful, getting in and out of places she wasn't supposed to be in. Taking things that weren't hers. She made enemies, with an explosive personality like her own, it was inevitable, but she also made a life for herself. She was free.
Haze remembers the day Akari stopped existing, and she smiles to herself.
Aspiration: Haze's entire life has been out of her control. Bad things happen, and they cause more bad things. Even with the freedom she gained, she still had so little influence over the world and that things that happened to her. Now, with the chance to take control of so much more, and do everything the way she wants it, she simply cannot resist.
Strengths: Eye for Detail: Small details, useless information, things that are otherwise insignificant. Haze sees it all, and it comes in handy quite often.
Concealed: Haze's quirk makes her a master of stealth, providing her discreet movement or a get-out-of-jail card if things turn sour.
Agile: Haze is nimble and graceful, moving quickly and quietly. Small, too.
Weaknesses: Claustrophobia: Haze can't stand small spaces. They make her nervous, angry, anything you can think of. The smaller, the worse.
Impatient: Alongside her short temper, Haze has a short attention span, and will get agitated, rush off, or both if anything is taking longer than she wants it to.
Noodle Arms: She isn't very strong. Haze's strengths lie in stealth, and even with weapons, she can struggle to take down larger opponents.
Quirk: Smoke: Haze can turn herself and objects of a certain size into smoke, which then moves freely. She can then reform.
Skills/Talents:Read Me: Body language is the name of the game, and Haze can pick up the smallest of twitches. Her interpretations aren't always completely accurate, but she gets pretty damn close.
Memory: Haze's memory is excellent, and anything from the elephant in the room to the ants of the floor she will remember.
Hit or Hit: She isn't fond of throwing her knives, but when she does, she can usually hit.
Inventory: Outfit: It stays on when she transforms. Knives, lots of them: Shiny, aren't they?
Personality: Vitaliy is exceedingly vain and incredibly arrogant. He views himself with complete and pure pride. He is fond of running his mouth about those around him, easily turning cruel and vindictive if he spots a mental weak spot which he feels he can exploit. Building on this, he is very easy to anger, the smallest slight against him perceived as an attack on his entire being. He is extremely committed to a crime once he decides to carry it out, and derives great pleasure from its completion. He doesn't exactly gain satisfaction from causing people pain directly, but he delights in leaving mental scars, people talking about him after the act.
Background: Vitaliy is half Japanese and half Ukrainian. His father was a minor Japanese bureaucrat, who met his mother while accompanying a Japanese minister on a diplomatic trip to Kiev. His father eventually moved to the city to be with his mother, and Vitaliy spent the formative years of his childhood in an elegant apartment overlooking a park in Kiev's city center. Certainly a privileged upbringing, with parents who consistently doted on him and provided him with only the best.
His quirk manifested fairly early on, and he immediately found a penchant for mischief, using it to pull pranks, some of which were decidedly cruel - a particularly large cockroach shooting up the neck of a particularly squeamish girl, burrowing itself into her frizzy hair. Vitaliy adored the feeling of his classmates looking at him with rage or fear whenever he stepped onto the playground. However, soon others quirks began to manifest and he found himself needing more and more extreme material each time.
This happened to coincide with the breaking point of his parents marriage issues - which culminated in a divorce, and his father whisking him away to Japan. Life here was not so privileged, as his father had quit his bureaucrat role in order to move to Ukraine in the first place. Vitaliy resented his father for pulling him out of his privileged life. He began to fall in with the wrong sorts of people, as his quirk grew in strength as he got older.
The first time a crime he committed made the local news, Vitaliy was positively thrilled. He began to try and up his game, to experience that feeling again. He left home after a heated argument with his father, where calling the police was used as a threat. Vitaliy never saw his father again after that, and he didn't really care. He used his quirk to steal things to make himself appear privileged, selling things he stole on the black market. He became faux-wealthy eventually.
He soon turned his attention back to crime, and has been committing a spree of random crimes across his area in order to try and stamp his mark and his legacy on it.
Aspiration: Vitaliy has one clear goal - recognition. He wants to leave a legacy, for his crimes to embed themselves in the public conscious, where they will never be forgotten. He wants his name plasted throughout the media, people to talk about him for years to come. Whether that's through dismantling the system, or burning out in a truly horrific or memorable crime doesn't really matter.
Strength & Weakness:Strengths: -Thanks to his privileged upbringing with a fine education, Vitaliy is a quick learner and a very adept criminal mind -His quirk can provide extremely effective distractions or be very dangerous in its own right, depending on the species used -His commitment to criminal acts, and his capacity for sheer malice mean that very few acts turn out as failures - so far.
Weaknesses -As his quirk never really called for it, Vitaliy is not at all adept at hand to hand combat or battles of pure strength -His quick to anger nature and vanity can lead to instability and infighting if somebody slights him -As he gained his moderate wealth himself, he has a lack of connections to criminal underworlds, having totally broken ties with his old gangs
Quirk: Volukinesis - Vitaliy has the ability to control insects. He can make them form into great swarms, them becoming completely under his control as a collective. It is important to note that this power only applies to insects - not arachnids like spiders, or millipedes or centipedes etc.
Skills/Talents: -Vitaliy is an extremely adept problem solver, easily being able to think outside of the box -He can speak 4 languages - Ukrainian, Japanese Russian and English, in descending order of fluency - although Ukrainian and Japanese are virtually at the same level -He is a fair shot, having taken firearm classes in his youth
Inventory: His apartment a lot of things. Perhaps the most relevant are: -His villain outfit - a modified formal suit with insectoid legs and other features creepily worked into the design -A small collection of some very dangerous insects, which serve as a form of home energy defence system -A modest collection of firearms
Shifumi is slender and over two meters tall with sickly, pale skin. Due to metabolic stress and age, she has white streaks in her hair, which she styles to look reminiscent of horns. She normally wears an apathetic poker face, but when she smiles, it is gentle and sinister. She exudes an oppressive aura and pins people with black, lusterless eyes. She hunches often to listen to people shorter than her speak.
Like most Yakuza, she has tattoos, the most prominent being on her back, hidden from view, of her namesake.
Due to the nature of her quirk, Shifumi's muscles are embedded with special staples, but the accrued bio-toxicity has caused a blackening discoloration of the skin around the staples.
On the field, she tends to wear a set of black metallic armor with white trimmings.
Personality:
The spine, the foundation, Ushiyama Shifumi presents a facade of immovable strength. She speaks softly, but with weight, keeping her expression placid and her thoughts and emotions close to her chest. During confrontations, however, she is brutal and relentless, preferring to end the confrontation swiftly. To those close to her, she can be motherly in a tough love sort of way, but for the most part, she doesn't let people get close emotionally because she knows that she has too much to lose if such weaknesses ever got exploited.
Background:
Shifumi and her mother grew up in destitution. While heroes protected people from physical dangers, like natural disasters and villains, nobody was going to save anyone from financial inequality. In the dark, seedy underbelly of society, overlooked by humanity's 'saviours', Shifumi had to fight to protect what was hers. It wasn't long before she joined a small street gang to protect her neighborhood, moving from one organization to the next based on the perceived strength of the organization. Soon she found herself as the local enforcer of her current Yakuza group. As long as she continued to serve with distinction, Shifumi and her mother's lives were decent, some might even consider luxurious. But in addition to being just muscle, Shifumi was a fast learner, and demonstrated the 'heart' of a Yakuza with her loyalty and dedication. Eventually, leadership of the local group passed to her. At some point, Shifumi's mother passed away, but she passed away in comfort. But now Shifumi had a bigger family to take care of.
Aspiration:
Shifumi's loyalty, first and foremost, is to her Yakuza group. She desires to keep them and their families safe and well-fed, even if that means going up against heroes, and other villains. Due to the rise in heroism and villainy, the Yakuza has seen tough times, and Shifumi hopes that the villain who has contacted her, and the challenges he has presented her with, will give her and her group legitimacy in the eyes of other villains so that they can cooperate against the forces that seek to suppress their collective ambitions.
Strength & Weakness:
Besides her quirk, Shifumi's greatest strength is her organizational leadership and willingness to negotiate, a rare trait in a world of egotistical, self-important villains. She can take a step back and consider what the more pragmatic options are, instead of letting her pride take the reins. Her greatest weaknesses are actually her ties to her Yakuza group. Members getting taken hostage is not something she can ignore.
Quirk:
Do You Even Lymph, Bro? - When Shifumi has an immune reaction, her white blood cells release a strength-enhancing chemical. By embedding bio-reactive staples into her musculature, she ensures that her body is in a perpetual state of bio-rejection, and thus operating at maximum strength all the time. She also regularly draws her own blood and, using her Yakuza group's medical facilities, extracted the serum, which her allies can consume as a temporary strength boost.
Skills/Talents:
As the leader of a Yakuza group, Shifumi has management, leadership, and diplomacy skills. She also has quite a bit of capital to back her up. Being a bit of a traditionalist, Shifumi has exposure to various forms of Japanese martial arts, though her forte is jiujitsu.
Inventory:
Armor - As shown above.
Vials of Strength Serum - For ally use during emergencies.
EpiPen - Since her quirk is a burden on her immune system, it helps to have an EpiPen ready to stave off anaphylactic shock.
