The Occult Investigations Agency
The World
The year is 2028, supernatural entities and knowledge of them has become public knowledge for almost a decade now. Elves, vampires, ghosts, almost eveything we once considered fantasy has become reality. With this new reality came the need to enforce law and order as the world came to terms with the fact that humanity was no longer alone in this world...if it ever was to begin with. Today these supernatural entities are protected by a international law enforcement group known officially as "The Agency for Occult Investigations and Law Enforcement" or more commonly referred to as "The Occult Investigations Agency"-the OIA. You are a member of this organization, spending most of your days investigating cases that were common before the arrival of our new neighbors. There are the odd curious cases that take you for a short spin but most agents dont see anything too out of the ordinary. At least, thats what most agents say. There's always been rumors of a higher echelon of investigators within The Agency. Detectives assigned to close cases too high-risk or too classified for public eyes.
Our story begins in the city of New Carcosa, a booming metropolis situated on the northeast coast of the United States. The city is amongst the most developed and heavily populated cities in the country, with the highest racial diversity in the nation. As like any other city of its kind, you'll find its appearance to be that of a city between modern and cyberpunk fantasy in its aesthetic. Just barely getting into the realm of science fiction as magic begins to entwine itself in our society. What sets New Carcosa apart from other cities is the location of the United Occult Nations building, where representatives of each of the Occult Races gather to put forth legislation alongside members of the human U.N. as well as it being the HQ for the OIA.
But we're getting off topic, today your precinct is celebrating the retirement of one Captain Leon Navarro. Most of your precinct is there, so the usual banter between the various departments fills the precinct. Right now you've got time to mingle, catch up with some of the folks at the station, enjoy the little break while you can. Its about mid-day so you've probably got enough time in the day to pick up another case when your break ends. Good luck out there, agent.
The Rules
1.Your character can be almost any race from any civilization of your design or a pre-existing one. As long as it isn't some overpowered being from a demigod race residing in another dimension it will most likely be allowed. Usually if your idea fits into the theme of the RP I'll allow it. If you aren't sure then PM me and I'll work with you.
2.Unless its in the IC, no fighting.
3.Posts need to be at least a paragraph or two.
3.There isn't a posting order, but try to leave character interactions open to the possibility of another character joining you if at all possible.
4.Don't control another player's character without their permission.
5.If you have an idea for a story arc or something, ask me first before starting it. Don't set it all up and force it to happen because then everything gets derailed.
OIA Divisions
There is the R&D Department who research occult items and anomalies to gain intel and possibly engineer new tech for the OIA.
Occult Tactics Operatives who act as SWAT in high risk situations like magical ordinance disposal, hostile occult anomaly neutralization, etc. Basically if its too magical and too dangerous for regular SWAT or agents, OTOs get sent.
Violent Occult Crimes who deal with mostly homicides and other violent crimes of an occult nature. Things like an orc gang shootout dont count. If it is a type of violent crime that existed before the occult arrived, its not VOC's business. They get involved when things get weird.
