Name: Jorge Lore (Lor-Ay)
Nicknames/Alias: Paine (What they go by)
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Nationality: American
Hometown: Tombsville, Arizona
Date of Birth: July 1st
Appearance:
Paine’s face is covered all over in long black and messy hair. It sometimes gets in the way of his eyes and face but he never takes the time to clean it at all. The hair is full of all kinds of curl bangs and messes but is never messed with. His eyes underneath are a deep dark brown to the point of nearly appearing black, with various bags layered under his eye. His chin is round and smooth. At center of his head is an ‘evil eye ‘that’s been painted on from an obsessive night of warding aiming to ward off evil from entering his mind, and to cover up a bullet hole in the center of his head.
Paine’s tan frame is slender and short. Given an inhale on any day it could easily make his rips viewable under the skin. His arms are scrawny and so are his legs. None the less he tries to push his body as far as it will allow, and even further. The physique is mostly due to low levels of nourishment and not enough physical training.
When it comes to clothing Paine’s style is often on casual brand unless it serves some kind of defensive purpose. He’s easily caught walking around in heavily padded pajamas with butterflies all over them or the outfit of robes. These robes are a dark green, with a large hood and baggy sleeves. In the center of the robes covering the chest is a brown leather padded spot with a black insignia of an ‘evil eye’ upon it. Underneath that he’ll basically be wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt at most. The baggy sleeves are useful for hiding all sorts of small items inside them.
Height: 5’1”
Weight: 95 lbs.
Status: Scion
Weapon of Choice: Paine has yet to undergo any form of formal weapons training. He knows a few hands to hand combat skills borrowed from Aikido and Jiu-jitsu based on locks or toppling an opponent over with their own weight but nothing particular outside that. He focused more on the ability to move his barriers and use them as weapons instead.
Magic:
Barrier magic is rather a simple one, that creates sheets of energy to form barriers that can be moved or manipulated. In this case the barriers are transparent and hardly noticeable until touched or interacted with. The barriers can be sensed by the creator and manipulated like any other. These barriers cover both the material and metaphysical as the creator had found out by entrapping their mind inside their own head. At the most without preparation the creator can form a cube using barriers 3 feet in diameter at this time. The properties of these barriers, as in where they are, along with how thick they are van be adjusted by the creator. The edges of these barriers can be incredibly sharp, due to adjusting their properties. His current record is 20 feet in diameter away from him and he can typically create up 6 barriers excluding the ones surrounding his mind. Any strain beyond that causes headaches and even migraines causing other barriers to weaken and shatter.
The barriers each require level of low concentration that increases to create accordingly to their strength. If the barrier is placed or attempted to be placed through something, the concentration has to be strong enough to separate the matter.
There is a strong mental barrier in the creator’s mind that keeps their mind from being read or interfered with.

Personality:
Paine has a hero complex in the sense that if there is ever a single person in trouble, he will quite eagerly rush into to help them. He desires to quickly help and defend others to the best of his own abilities and push beyond that. On the other hand, he feels the need to save absolutely everybody possible and will quickly deteriorate or drive himself beyond his limits to do so or feel an immense regret in leaving anyone behind. He has less empathy for the aggressors or attackers despite his desire to act heroically he may very well inflict an unnecessary amount of harm to a target if they come his way. He often has a hard time distinguishing the inflicted damage or payback as going overboard.
He even has a hard time to figure out when he himself is pushing himself overboard both physically and mentally. He pushes to the upper bounds of his limits and beyond if at all necessary or even possible. The very feeling of being tired and even being in pain to a certain degree bring about a twisted delight and joy in him. The pain and soreness of either his mind or body makes him feel truly alive and as if he’s truly achieving something. Which is why he also hates when his body entirely fails on him, when it can no longer give and when everything turns numb instead.
His mind has well adopted to look at everything, especially his own favored studies with a wide curiosity and inspection. He often wants to know why something is a certain way, the methods of how it works and how it can be employed and beyond. He often can’t stop himself when he discovers a new possibility to be pursue. In truth he’s somewhat curious as to how to obtain more power or even a diverse set of magic.
One of his favorite subjects to study or look at is creatures of the dark, particularly demons and devils. He delves into history books, recorded reports, mythologies and more to study them, to understand them, to investigate their weakness and their desires. He has a bit of unhealthy obsession when it comes to the like, and has no particular fear of them but a twisted interest and desire to know as much about them as possible. He maintains the common sense to keep himself alive, but is easily tempted to investigate or view more, and even capture some.
It does not help for Paine’s outlook socially along with his desires for knowledge on darker subjects he has trouble talking. In particular, he has trouble to stop talking at all. It may give an outlook of a mad person but it is often that it seems he can’t help but continuously talk to himself and to an imaginary friend that he knows is fake but constantly refers to as ‘Raziel’. It helps him think, he claims.

Backstory:
Paine or as his new name is Jorge. He did not always bear this name and used to go by Ellie in his young years. When he was rather too young to remember his parents used to be a pair of demon researchers who would conduct all manner of ungodly experimentation, almost all of which went wrong to their dismay. The experiments went on and became increasingly wicked. Paine’s older sister apparently had left the household after completing her own training and took him with.
He mostly knew about life with his older sister which was nice when things were quiet in the area. They lived in a nice little apartment and managed to get by with nothing particularly fancy. She specialized in telekinesis and would often train and aim to influence his skill in defense tactics in case something every went awry. She also made sure to train him more or less to be able to run away from dangers or even harm them to a degree using his abilities. The dangers particular demons and devils were used to try and scare him a little, even used as bed time stories on occasion but it simply increased his interest. He was supposed to officially start weapons training when he was 11 since his sister was reluctant to teach him and get him further involved in dangerous affairs. She mostly wanted to keep him at home, and safe, but he had other ideas.
He had developed a desire to go save people with his abilities and defenses, like his older sister. One day this went particularly awry. He was ten, and foolish. He had saw someone in an alleyway in trouble on the way from school and interfered. The victim did manage to get away, though during the tussle, Paine got shot in the head from a gun misfiring. He had barely enough time to throw up barriers but made a mistake, as the barriers wrapped around his mind instead. The bullet put him down for a while.
Paine had managed to trap himself in his own mind for roughly four long years. He could barely hear the outside world around him on occasion, but was always trapped inside his own head. In order to keep himself from going mad he practiced messing with constructing, barriers inside his own mind in an imaginary void to keep himself busy. He would practice, over and over again, and form all sorts of movement challenges for himself. In the mean time he began talk to ‘Raziel’ a figure that more or less formed in his head one day. He talked to them to keep sane and pretended they were the protector of this place keeping any ‘bad guys’ from getting in. Oddly enough, the feeling that was hardest to replicate in this space, was pain itself.
It wasn’t until four years later that Paine was able to weaken the barriers around his mind to permit himself freedom back into reality. He claims Raziel helped a little too. He awoken in a hospital bed, with robing similar to his sister’s when she went off on duty and with his body weakened and changed. He has yet to see her, but vaguely hears she’s off working some place or other and hopes she’s fine.
