I was super nervous that my post didn't make any sense, but I'm glad to see that the two posts so far have completely nailed what I was going for X3

I really, REALLY liked both posts, I kinda felt like a kid in the candy shop, almost too excited to read them because I wanted more for later

I hope everyone is just as excited as I am to see a bunch of primitives begin trying things out and meeting other races, with literally 0 ideas about how to communicate or deal with their differences. I am so glad I made that interest check haha

I'm glad I managed to post before leaving for vacation tomorrow.
@6slyboy6 I will be away for two weeks. I will try to keep up with other people's posts (mostly because I'm very curious) but most likely wont have time to post anything myself. How long will it take to move to the next turn?

@Raylah Depends on how fast everyone responds to the IC! We'll see how fast it goes, but you won't miss out if you make a posts for both turns when you get back :D

Also, heh, lot of action in that first post. Reea is a lowkey genius for a cavewoman, or cavefrog if you will. But since you'll be gone for so long I think that makes perfect sense ^^

I've decided what I want to do. For these first entries into their civilization, there will be no sense of 'self' yet. Communally they will exist, creating rapid advancement and development. The first examples of 'individualism' will eventually start to appear which will spur the first sparks of inner-conflict and stagnation in the species.

I also went with a more 'broad strokes' style of writing. I hope this is effective.

No problem with that. Though I do enjoy seeing in these very early times how the individual interacts with the tribe, for communal people it might make more sense to just ignore that part and focus on their combined activities.

Just to clarify, did they map sharp wooden sticks and expect fish to run into it, or are the using them as fishing spears?

They mapped out sharp wooden sticks, expecting the fish to run into ti due to the water flowing down stream, forcing the fish into the traps.

This shit but with an additional 'dome' on top to prevent them from swimming out, I think?

EDIT: wait the dome is there I'm just blind

@Odin Woah, slow down buddy. You might as well have sent the blueprints of a two stroke diesel engine for these primitives, it's about the same difficulty XD

Well, we know that the frgs are already good with materials. I would not be surprised if they mastered making proper houses first. And art. And speech. Hmmm... the frogs are OP, plz nerf

@6slyboy6 that fish trap was used by the most primitive humans as far as I know, so I don't think it's an unreasonable technology to have if we put it under basic tools, . Some also worked like this: behind small waterfalls, using sticks to force them into a trap or just literally a fucking maze for fish because they're idiots.

I mean yeah! I'm just always looking for some form of a causation in the posts to "justify" the invention of the wheel, if you know what I mean. Like, for the frogs it made sense that they know mud would stick and can draw with it, but for others making a dirt and mud shelter might take a while. Of course, even a 5 year old can come up with that on their own, but remember: though similar to what modern specimens of your race will be, these guys are still stupid, with a much lower IQ.

But I mean, I'm having a ton of fun reading all the posts. So far everybody has nailed it imo, which is great because now I don't feel like an idiot with a weird and clunky idea XD

No, it's literally a row of spikes jutting out of the sand diagonally.

The force of the river forces the larger fish to go down it. With no way to go back up, they are forced into the spikes, where they die.

The smaller fish are able to swim through, but the large fish are impaled.

Wait, I completely misread the post. I thought they were standard traps you were talking about but I just now noticed impalement pikes. No idea on that one

EDIT: Jesus christ @Caelum can I commission you to draw all the artwork for my race?

@Caelum We are witnessing the birth of our generation's new Picasso

Spikes in the river, sounds like a good idea to me. I don't know about them being pushed down or whatever, but BIG STICK HURT FISH

True art comes from the soul.

And MS Paint.

And yes, the idea is, big spikes hurt fish that swim. Get fish. Eat fish. Survive. I figured with only 4 weeks under their belt, they'd get the basics of survival down first before they went on to culture and technology.

Petition for Caelum's art to be the actual art that later Artias' used to showcase to their young in school how primitive Artias caught fish?

The idea is that you can just keep focusing on lore and story for your guys and manage them with what you have, and if you keep building huts, fishing, etc then I will assign you all the technologies that you can achieve. Of course if you take that into your own hands, the only times I will intervene if it seems highly unprobable (which I doubt you will all do), or when something big happens that isn't in your control, like discovering that some rocks can be melted into metal, etc

I feel that the Civ V tech tree is pretty good and streamlined, good for a basic look at tech tree.

I think that that's fine for a basic one, but if we get say, one tech per turn or whatever you come up with, it'd be a very strange way of evolution. Like oh yeah we can sail using ships but we haven't figured out how to work wood effectively or how to get the material we need to make sails or make ships worthy. It's basically missing large gaps that we can't really cover on our own in the IC, I think?
