I realise I kind of mixed the two of these things.. So, edit?
I've never played a Young (Hero) character, I've never played a Legacy Character and I've never done an Origin Story. So why do one of these things, when I can do all three at once! Jaime is such a great character, he's relatable and goes through very real struggles. In my eyes he's the (underappreciated or fucked up) Peter Parker of DC, he's just an average kid who gets an alien relic fused with his spine granting him superpowers and a voice in his head that always wants to go for the quick lethal option rather than the way that would reduce casualties. That's a story I want to write. This Jaime is one that's growing up in a world that's all over the Metahumans. Quite a few are sick of the heroes, and its a changing climate for them. Is this a good time for a young new hero with an alien artificial intelligence bonded to his spine that secretly wants to kill and enslave everyone? Probably not.
Jaime is going to be a struggling teen, his entire world is going to change. He's moved to a new city, leaving his close friends Brenda and Paco behind in El Paso and taking on life in a recently devastated New York city. I will literally be starting this thing off at day one, I mean. At least nothing bad can happen right?
Once he gets the Scarab, he's going to want it off. While also having some control over it so he can still have his normal life, over time he'll likely come to accept the burden, and who he has now become. Will the world view him as a hero though? Especially after whats coming?
"Santa mierda!" Jaime slapped the palm of his free hand against his forehead as he held his cellphone against his other ear. It wasn't easy navigating the streets of New York with a phone up against his ear but he was making it work. On the other line was his two best friends back home an El Paso, Brenda and Paco. When his family had moved here to be closer to his grandmother he felt like his whole life had been left behind. Then the whole world had turned to hell, more recently culminating in the battle of New York and the Empire State building being destroyed. "How many times do I need to tell you Paco? No. I didn't see Wonder Woman in person."
"Oh come on Jaime! You mean to tell me you didn't try to take a peek?"
Jaime sighed. "No I was busy looking after Milagro when it all went down."
"Come on Jaime, live a little! You want to see that sweet hero -"
"-ow-" Jaime didn't have to be present to know that Brenda had punched, kicked or elbowed Paco in the stomach.
"You don't want anything to do with that super-hero business anyway Jaime. It's safer to stay away."
"Yeah I know Brenda, I have to head now. Hasta Luego." He hit the button on his phone to lock it before sliding it back into his pocket. Sighing he raked his hand through his hair as he walked through the nicer streets of New York. That's when the unusual happened. Some form of blue scarab fell out of the sky, landing on the sidewalk right in front of him. "¿Qué?
Jaime leant down and picked it up, raising it in his hand and letting the light reflect off it as he tried to figure out what it was. Then it started to glow, legs extending from its main body. He shook his hand trying to get it to fall off, however, it seemed to be stuck to his hand. It crawled across his arm, he was starting to shake more as he panicked. "¡Quítatelo! ¡Quítatelo! Santa mierda, que alguien ayude!"
He reached his arms over his back as it crawled over his shoulder. Then his body erupted in pain as it latched itself into his flesh. He fell to his knees, people starting to take note of him as he screamed, as a voice filled his head.

Jaime felt as if a thousand insects were crawling over his skin, biting every inch of his body as the blue and black chitin armour extended outwards from where the scarab had burrowed into his skin. People began to run away as they saw the armour begin to form and take hold off his body. He screamed, face-up in the sky as his face was encased in the metallic chitin. Then everything was dark for a moment, he could hear his breath heavy against the faceplate of the armour.

He could hear the whirr of engines as the armour clacked and changed shape, two wings forming beside him as an engine formed on his back shooting him into the air. Jaime screamed as he was thrown into the air, he could feel his stomach almost flip itself. How was this possible? He couldn't fly, he wasn't a superhero. Was this Stark Tech? What was going on?

"Then land right now!" Jaime poured all of his thought and concentration into it, forced his arms and legs to move. Head down, willing himself to head down towards the ground. He saw the ground turn towards him for a second as he flew through New York, before the Scarab resumed control and pulled him up again.

He groaned and doubled over in pain as the armour retracted into the scarab. He opened his eyes once the pain subsided, to find himself still easily forty stories high above the streets of New York.
