Name:
Aewien
Age:
48
Gender:
Female
Race:
High Elf
Personality:
Aewien is a quiet and reserved woman, often taking a decent amount of time for someone to earn enough of her trust for her to start opening herself to them. Often preferring to keep her own thoughts and opinions to herself, she rarely will tell them to others unless asked to. These aspects of her personality, often give her quite a mysterious aura. That said, to those who earned enough of her trust for her to open herself, they will realize that she has quite a pleasant personality, being calm, kind and easy to approach. Loving knowledge, Aewien often shows curiosity to learn about both about the ones whom conquered her trust, their homelands, magic and enjoys having a good conversation.
When hunting or in battle, Aewien is calculating, serious and does not hesitate to strike down her target. Most of the times speaking almost nothing or just what is strictly necessary, her mind and actions are true and accurate as her arrows.
Background:
Aewien was born and raised amongst High Elves, which always were very recluse and isolated. Since a young age, she showed notable skill with a bow and a few, very specific fields of magic. Runic Writing and Manipulation. What made her widely known as one of the best in these fields was not only her natural talent, but the fact that she, strangely enough, was drawn towards them since she was small. She always loved hunting and had a unique understanding of runic writing, being able to even write complex enchantments as easily as she could talk when she got older. While many positions, on the most varied parts of the Elven society were offered to her, ranging from being an assassin to a scholar and researcher, Aewien never accepted them. One of the main reasons for that was that, unlike most of the other High Elves, she had a free spirit and was beginning to feel suffocated in living only inside the High Elf kingdom.
After decades learning everything she could from the place she was born, Aewien, much like her name, knew it was time for her to stretch her wings and fly, both to honor her own skills and to learn more about the world and the magic that hides within it. With that objective in mind, even though Aewien didn't have a specific destination in mind, she would eventually find herself in the city of Volstryggr, a grand city created after the peace between nations was established. Being almost the central hub for every nation, Volstryggr is teeming with magic and scientific knowledge coming from all parts of the world. After a bit of consideration, Aewien realized that there was no better place for her to learn more about the world than that city and decided to stay.
Once established in the city, Aewien slowly became known, not only for being a High Elf, which was already rare, but thanks due to her skill with a bow and magic. Even though it took quite a while due to her being quite quiet and reserved regarding strangers, due to her unique use of Runic Writing, she attracted the attention of scholars and important people, who took notice of her skills and gave her an opportunity to study some of the artifacts that were kept by the Volstryggr family itself. It did take some time until the Volstryggr family trusted her enough for her to have the opportunity to study a sentinel, but when she was able to, she found herself being chosen as a handler, much to her surprise.
Strengths:
Marksmanship: Aewien is an accomplished archer. Thanks to her experience and skill, she is able to hit targets farther than almost any archer, no matter how small they are. The long bow she uses was made by herself, using a variety of different, unique materials and enchanted with a series of runes written by herself. Due to it's size and draw weight, it would be almost impossible for anyone to use it reliably, but thanks to the complex runes she used when making the bow, engraving them inside the bow in order to protect them, it is easy enough to draw that even a High Elf, which lacks strength, would be able to use it without any effort. It's power and range are far more than what would be expected, even for such a long bow due to the enchantments, making it quite a deadly weapon in the hands of a master such as herself.
Runic Writing Aewien has a unique understanding and usage of Runic Writing, using it both to make her equipment and imbue her arrows with the most varied of effects, ranging from elemental effects to arrows that can penetrate even a stone wall.
Agility and Dexterity Being a High Elf means that what Aewien lacks in raw strength, she more than makes it up with agility and dexterity. Thanks to her training, not only these natural capabilities were enhanced even further, but she has a remarkable stamina, being able to keep running at full speed without tiring for quite a good time.
Manipulation Aewien uses Manipulation magic for quite a few things. Most notably, she uses it to misdirect her enemies or targets, hide her own position with spells that are able to camouflage her and turn her almost invisible and a number of other things.
Weaknesses:
Low Endurance and lack of raw strength: Even though Aewien can easily take an unaware target with her dagger if its necessary, being a High Elf means that she has much less raw strength than most other races and has a low resistance to physical damage. When in close combat against one or more targets that are aware of her position, she is in a severe disadvantage, not being able to compete with them in either endurance or strength.
Quiet: The fact that Aewien will often keep her own thoughts and opinions about situations to herself unless asked means that many times, positive or even important things she might have to suggest, warn or say often won't be told to others.
Not suited to closed, narrow or small battlefields: Her effectiveness in a battle is highly dependent on her positioning and the location itself. When in narrow corridors or in a location where her movements are restricted she will be much less efficient than she would be if she was able to freely move herself and make full use of her agility.
