✾ Lᴀᴅʏ Aʙꜱɪɴᴛʜɪᴀ'ꜱ Mausoleum Of Machinations ۩❃ The Basics ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ This is my little personal hide away for plot ideas that are for 1x1 Rps. Now many 1x1's are just simple vague ideas: I would like to play 'this' while you play 'that' and we will see where it goes and that is fine and dandy. I am usually open to hear ideas and if I feel it sure, I'll rp it. Thing is, it takes a lot for me to feel an rp idea so I don't go knocking on a lot of doors searching for a 1x1 RP partner. Usually I get a rather specific idea in mind, flesh it out, and then hit up a person I think would be good to partner up with. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Like with most 1x1 things, it can be hit or miss. Here I am not posting just general things. I am posting more specific cravings or ideas that went through my mind at least enough to flesh out a starter idea, put the time in to code the thing, and post it here. I might not even be open for taking on more Rp's. I might just type it up and drop it off here for later. Might want to pick it up when I have time, or fleshing it out might cleanse my system of the idea. Who knows. Right now I am just using this as an organization of thoughts, desires, and requirements. If it goes somewhere great. Oᴘᴇʀᴀᴛɪᴏɴ Aʟᴛᴇʀɴᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ "Welcome to Task Force South" - General Lindsay, Fort Clayton ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ In a post-Vietnam America the U.S. Military isn't looked at like it was at the end of WWII. There is no clear cut line and politics cloud the issue. It is harder and harder to get new recruits and many of the older career soldiers are retiring, which is creating a large void in personnel for most branches, but the Army seems to be taking the greatest hit. What is a nation to do if they cannot get enough men willing to stand the line? In this world - they decide to try something new, allow women in combat. It isn't a popular vote but it seems to be the last resort. It isn't cut and dry though. Women are recognized yet for the most part, having to fly under the radar of some until they can prove themselves. There is no difference on the requirements in this time frame. It doesn't matter if you are woman or man, your physical requirements are the same. There are no female quarters, separation because of gender. If you are a woman and you want in, you better be prepared to be tossed right into the fire. A few women have stepped forward and are now the guinea pigs despite the odds stacked against them and people gunning for them. One such is Major T.J. 'The Sparrow' Martin. The daughter of a Marine and the granddaughter of a General, T is trying to make her way in This Mans Army as an Aviator. It has been hard fought and she has hidden who her family is so those above her cannot claim she only has risen to where she is because of family connections. Currently the Commanding Officer of the 18th Aviation Brigade, Special Designation: Black Barons, Major Martin is recently back from the Middle East and being deployed to Panama for the upcoming invasion. She must work along side other Commanding Officers, in a war zone, and not only stay alive but prove herself if she wishes her career to continue. One step out of line or report from another Commanding Officer could end everything. Can 2 C.O.'s work together and be able to keep the line between personal and professional from being crossed? Land in the Wyoming Territory is being given away and gold awaits. Out in the mountains men are striking it rich or at least rich enough to enjoy more than they once had. The law of the land is what you make it for now, Uncle Sam hasn't come calling fully as of yet. Everything is at a mans finger tips - save one thing - women. While former soldiers of both the Confederacy and the Union, wanted men, young men, old men, bosses, tyrants, and more are all making for the Claim Towns; not so many women are willing to make the journey. In a lawless land anything goes. So what is a man to do when in the best of towns men out number women 10 to 1? And in the worst of towns 200 to 1? He can either keep trekking to the local brothel and keep shelling out a kings ransom, but she ain't gonna shine yer boots or bake yer biscuits. Can either pray you strike it lucky with the local dentists daughter or you can write back East and see if you can't get yourself a Mail-Order Bride. Sounds crazy right? Well in a pre-tinder world, sometimes a man could only hope to find a wife in the classifieds right between Employment and For Sale. Océane is younger; the daughter of French Immigrants who is in the East doing what women try to do - survive with hope intact. She took shelter at the Hearst House after a particularly dark period in her life. With no money, no inheritance, and her family dead there is not much left for her in the east that she cares about and plenty she wants to get away from, including several in the very place she has taken shelter in. In order to do that she has to have a way out. So she did the only thing she could think of, she agreed to be a Picture-Bride. A photograph take, a small blurb written, to print it went out in the territories. She could only sit and wait, see what if anything would happen. Something did in-fact happen - the ad was answered; by several. Lady Daventry has been enjoying the lavish life her much older husband has provided for her over the last twenty years. Something that can be changed out as easily as a light-bulb or traded in for a down payment on something newer and better, like you would a cell phone. Little by little, piece by piece, more and more of your skin, flesh, bone, and blood are taken away and replaced with wire, circuits, dermaskin, and lubricants. At what point does man stop being man and become machine? If all that remains is a memory chip can one really even be considered human anymore? If the only thing pumping now is a mechanical heart where does humanity lay? It has been ten years since the team was together. They trained, grew up, worked together for two decades. Then, one run, one very bad run and everything changed. You lose people, everyone does in this line of work. Sometimes it isn't so much that you lost someone but how they were lost that forever breaks what was once a unit that was unshakable. In the end you part ways and don't look back. Everyone has to make a new path, alone. Some stay in the business, some change completely, some just go underground and haven't been a blip on the radar in all these years. Something going on though and it's time to get the team back together. That is if you can find each other. One person is on the radar though. Those on the Island Nation of Japan know it isn't for the reasons said. Publicly the nation is calm, at peace, without war. The nation if prospering and does not want interference or to be tainted by western culture. Isolation is to keep their people safe, without influence, or even illness from other suffering nations only wishing a piece of what the Pearl Of The Orient can provide. If only that were the truth, if only the land of the rising sun were as calm and prosperous as they claimed to be. Their shores may be off limits but it only to protect others while they try to save themselves. Military rule is law and it must be for these are dark times. Daimyō and Samurai rule these lands, fighting not one another but more supernatural forces. Demons, wild and savage, beings are constantly causing havoc both in the larger cities and along the country side. And when the demons are out to play, so shall they draw out the evil in many. Bandits are coming together and clans are forming, rushing villages to burn and plunder and leave death in their wake. No social class is safe and the higher you are the further you have to fall. You can fight, you can flee. Either way you must survive to see another day. Kikuya grew up in a small farming village outside of Edo. It wasn't a grand life but it was pleasant and happy. Her parents were kind and loving, teaching their daughter well. While she did not marry rich, she married contently. Everything seemed like it would be fine. Farm and family in peace. Yet her husband was called a way to war, her village was attacked. Only herself and a few other survived, quickly going to Edo for safety. Rejected by city their village had fed, one does what she must. Just survive until he returns. Yet there was no return, the entire regiment was slaughtered in the north. When one is left to turn to or survive for one must look inwardly. Fear profits a man nothing." - Herger The Joyous ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ In the middle of winter there is not much pillaging that can go on, at least not in in some of the more inland areas. A harsh winter in Scandinavia is a common occurrence and people expect it. Villages stock up as best they can and preparing for the long dark months ahead, sacrifice to the gods and pray that they are in Odins favor. Seers try to predict how long or short the season will be but in the end, no one saw this winter coming. No one, not even the elders can remember a winter with snow as deep or winds as high as this one. It came in early, cutting off the time they had to prepare by more than a month. Those precious days may mean the end for many families. Villages are barely getting by and sickness is setting in. What about those who live further inland? Away from the coast and the fjords, away from the people. What about those who are trying to make it on their own for one reason or another? Not having as many people to work and stock can make the food stores even more meager. Though, maybe, just maybe... Less is better. Perhaps not having as many mouths to feed will be the key to survival. If you only have to fend for yourself maybe you can get through the white night. That is, if no problems come knocking at your door. Or perhaps worse, you end up going insane because of the solitude; which is a very real possibility considering you swear you just saw someone with red hair walk by. Yeah, you're loosing it. Astra Eriksdotter maybe that very problem. Caught out in the middle of the storm for days now, she is weak, starving, and injured. Burning with fever she doesn't know if anything she is seeing is real anymore or if it is just a hallucination; including a house that looks to be nearly fully buried in the snow. Does she dare try knocking? Will she even make it to the front door, where the hell is the front door? What if someone is there? If they are, would they dare let her in? Another mouth to feed. One that is injured, burning with fever. Cʀʏꜱᴛᴀʟʟɪɴᴇ Sʏᴍʙɪᴏꜱɪꜱ "Ten days: You will fully adapt, partially adapt, or die." - Exploration and Evaluation Corps ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ In an age of space travel one no longer has to stay Earth Bound. In fact, many have set off with their eyes on the stars in search of new destinations and adventure. Travel through out the galaxy abounds thanks mostly to a crystalline rock, that when skillfully cut, is the key to advanced power and communications systems at the heart of interstellar civilization. This rock can only be mined on one planet. Deep within the Federal Sentient Planets lays the planet Ballybran. The Heptite Guild is in control and this planet is on a permanent travel ban. No one is aloud in or out if they are not a member of the Guild and even then, being a member isn't enough to get you fully planet side. Somethings are fully left up to fate and luck. Crystal Singers, a skilled set of people with perfect pitch, mine and the rest of the planet supports them: from admin to medical to farmer to security. Yet before you can get to that stage you must first adapt. The Spore, as the locals call it, is a microbe that forms a symbiotic relationship with any carbon or silicon based life forms that enter the planets gravitational pull. The formation is a traumatic experience known as "Transition Sickness." One of three things happen. You fully adapt: gaining an extended life and perhaps an amplified sense. You partially adapt: one sense could be enhanced to painful levels or one could enhance and you could lose the another completely. The third option? You die. There is no way of knowing before you step onto the planet and once you do and if you live you can only leave for short periods. Being away from the planet and its unique environment for too long causes sickness and eventual coma thanks to the Spore. Due to this unique environment and high chance of death the Federal Sentient Planets forbids the Guild from actively recruiting but that doesn't stop people from applying. The pay is better than most anything earth side and even support staff live well above average means. Compared to the Earth, which is collapsing in on itself: Death seems like a fair gamble. There are no ticket tape parades with hundreds and thousands of grateful citizens praising the valiant efforts of the American Soldier. There are no songs singing of valor and victory. No Rosie with her sleeves rolled up ready to do her duty while the boys are over there. No, this war is brutal, wavering on the edge of a blade. Over in Vietnam the war seems never ending. More and more troops are drafted and sent over each day. The Tet Offensive has just ended and Operation Rolling Thunder is coming to an end. More and more soldiers are giving their all overseas but for what purpose? Many of them don't even know. What they do know is while some of them will give everything, including their very lives: all of them will give something. Sometimes death is better than the hell of memory and having to rebuild once you are sent home. Can you even do that? Who knows. Where you do start even if you wanted to try? To start rebuilding one has to go home. Yet how can you when you are sent to one of the worst and most horrid VA hospitals in the country? When it is wall to wall over crowding, lack of funding, lack of resources. When everyone around you if still fighting the war but now the war isn't all around, it is inside. You are fighting it still within your mind and in your body; both racked and wrecked by what you saw and what you lived through over there. You are left wondering what the hell they were singing about. Not only do you have a war within you it seems the war is outside the door. Protests nonstop, calling you a killer. Are they wrong? Do you even know where you stand anymore? Could it get any worse? Of course it could and you find out just how worse when you are assigned a healthcare worker that is only there by court order. Punishment for disturbing the peace and various other charges received when your nurse was protesting the very war you were injured in.
