I'm fine with either. Will the stats add anything to the RP or be relevant beyond being a baseline for our character's abilities? If they would just serve to show how good the characters are at certain tasks, I think a simple letter grade would work. For example...

Piloting: B
Magic: C
Combat: A

That way it's not complicated for no reason.

Basically go D&D style but minus the dice stats. I'm gonna omit any backstory for characters and leave that for stuff that gets revealed and developed in story. Basically it'll include the following:

  • Name
  • Age
  • Gender
  • Race
  • Strength, Dexterity, etc.
  • Weapons & Equipment
  • Armor
  • Skills & Knowledge
  • Detailed Appearance Stats (Height, Weight, etc)
  • Personality

@LordOfTheNight Can we choose to omit some things, like specific height/weight? I think those hard numbers harder to conceptualize personally and rather just say "this person is tall and thicc" or something.

I'm fine with D&D stats if they'll be changing/affect the RP in some way. I don't really see the point in assigning a number if the number will be unchanged through the story - sorry if that comes off kind of harsh, just giving my two cents. I'm still in either way.

By all means offer your 2 cents. I want this to work for everyone

I agree with Yank. Having just a letter grade would be perfect if the numbers won't actually affect the story.

I’m in agreement with the graded stat system for attributes/abilities.

Also, will there be a map or locations description of major cities/areas?

Hmm. I see the dilemma. Alright, so a sliding scale works then as well? Simple 1-10 with 1 being sickly and 10 being inhuman?

I think it would be better that each is assumed to be average in every aspect unless told otherwise. So average intelligence, stamina, etc. of a new recruit is assumed. That could be like a C. And then go from there?

Pretty much, though some stats will naturally start at a different grade. Dwarves for instance being naturally stronger then men or fae being naturally more agile

I'd also prefer a grade system as opposed to hard numbers. It gives a bit more freedom to what you can attempt to do.

It goes from "You can't bash that door in because you don't have 15 strength" to "You're a pretty beefy guy/girl. Go ahead and give it a shot."

I also forgot to mention, there is a way to navigate but maps are kinda useless. The sands are continually shifting so the best way to navigate is by the stars themselves

If this has already been asked @LordOfTheNight, let me know, but....

Factions? Kingdoms? Overruling powers?

Oh sorry, my question was about whether you’ll have information in the OOC that will detail geographic areas like cities or factions and kingdoms like Scrivener mentioned, you know like a map or layout for players to get a better sense of the area.

It has not been asked yet. As far as ruling powers, there really isn't any. Power will be centralized by the settlements and tribes of the deserts. Faction wise, we have more then a few. There is the Servants of Light, a religious sect based out of the city of Frey. They are an anti-magic group that serve the will of the Lord of Light; believing that the Makers have turned their backs on their subjects because the masses use magic recklessly as though they are gods. They are mostly seen as crackpots though.

The Sunrunners operate as a faction of sorts, they are a power recognized by all and when someone needs help or has a job that they need done; they call on the Sunrunners guild.

The dwarves have the Iron Army of Kun Borimm, largest of the dwarven cities and considered by many to be the most advanced army to set foot in the desert. The dwarves mostly keep to themselves and don't concern themself with problems that aren't their own. They have enough on their plates with the constant attacks by gleekon war bands. There are plenty of dwarves who have left the Iron Army in search of adventure and profit, bringing with them the weapons and tools they used.

The fae have many nomadic tribes but no one truly knows how many their are or their names due to the simple fact no one has truly seen these tribes, merely heard stories.

I will likely incorporate city names and geographical locations in comparison to the starting settlement of Sando. For instance, "Crescent Moon Canyon: 3 Days Ride Northeast of Sando"

Hi! I've been curious with this RP for a good minute and I'd like to join.

I have a few character ideas - at least 2 being human (A dark-magic sorceress, and a Mercenary/ex-guardsman), 1 fae (Magic utilizer), and a dwarf (Inventor/weapon-tinkerer) that I need to choose.

I've also been diving into the tomb of other potential races that might work well in a desert environment (unless only the three selected are valid) but allow me to at least suggest one.

One such race could be within a sub-group of fae - or part of an overlapping animal/anthro-based race - where there could be a tribe of lizardman/draco/reptilian-based entities. Perhaps these lizardmen too are also tribal but more barbaric in their practices. There may be tribes who attempt to be the exception to the rule, but generally these creatures are both feared and respected by the inhabitants.

And maybe there could be a sub-species of lizardman that resemble more like crocodiles, those who live by rivers and large body of waters, where they could also represent a tribe that just wants to be left alone.

What do you think of this as a fair addition to the world?
