I'd be interested in this, so I'm making a character for you to look at.
Age:22 Gender:Female Appearance:5'3 with short blonde hair, usually wearing jean shorts, a blue v-neck, and a gray hoodie. Face changes a lot due to a skill in makeup. Para category/Threat level:Beta 3 usually, 4 when control is lost.
Powers: Strong Telekinesis - Can control many things at once with her mind, crushing and lifting anything from a can to a train. She can even make weapons out of normaly safe objects, crushing them to a hard point and throwing it at a target. Her telekinesis also has a defensive property, in the form of a shield around her whole body. Using this shield takes concentration, though, so she can't use it all the time. Burst - With a small amount of control of fire, and with the help of her stronger power, she can make something flammable explode. The more flammable, the bigger the explosion; if it was just something like dense wood, it'll be more like ripping it to pieces forcefully.
Skills: Quiet - Can move silently. She always could as long as she wasn't stepping on anything noisy, but after the explosion she gained the ability to walk and run silently on anything. Accurate - Due to an interest in bows and throwing-knives pre-para, her aim is on-point when using telekinesis for ranged attacks. Almost perfect disguise - Because she used to be a makeup artist for a small movie studio, she can disguise herself to hide from those who hunt her. It takes a close look to recognize her.
Weaknesses: Needs sight - If she can't see for any reason, she can't use her kinesis powers. She also panicks a bit and freezes due to an old fear of becoming blind. Crazy - The Tower's explosion threw her emotions into chaos. One moment she may be laughing with you, the next she may want to rip your head off. She also kills random pedestrians for fun when she loses control. Wanted - Because she sometimes kills at random, she is seen as a threat and is actively hunted.
Backstory:
After getting her senses back (mostly) after the explosion, she played around with her strange new abilities. Independent of the factions that arose, and fending for herself, she has made a couple hideouts in alleys that she blocked off from anyone who can't move a pile of cars. Anyone who comes too near gets pushed back if she sees them through the cars, cautious of anyone who might be a threat. Even though she could easily kill them, since an encounter with a flash bomb which hindered her powers for a few seconds too long, (which was carried by someone who looked like a normal person) she keeps people at a distance and uses disguises. Her hiding places are usually only for sleeping and stashing food; she's usually out causing trouble while in disguise. She hasn't been captured only because she was able to hide and disguise herself.
As for before becoming a Para, she worked at a small movie studio as a makeup artist. She enjoyed that job, as it allowed her to be creative. She always loved watching movies, loved the realistic effects and everything that happens behind the scenes which people don't acknowledge as much. She used to wander the city around the studio and her appartment a lot, and has mostly stayed in that area even after her change.
She used to like painting, reading, using her bow and throwing knives. But now she messes with people. She causes trouble, tripping people, crushing property, scaring people with small explosions. Though these are bad enough, sometimes she loses control, and instead kills or traps people. When in control of her emotions, she usually hates killing, but mostly because it brings attention to her, and she doesn't want to get captured.
Rachel walks down the street, watching the cars zoom by. She has her hood up, helping her disguise. The cars' solar panels reflect the sky beautifully, but the sun was also reflected. Rachel looked away from the cars, not wanting to ruin her eyes. The memory of the bright flash and the resulting fail of her powers still haunted her.
Silently ducking into an alleyway, she watched from the shadows, bored. She wanted to mess with people, perhaps make a car do a backflip. Yeah, that would be fun. As she was deciding what to do to cure her boredom, she saw a cop walk out of the donut shop across the street with a donut box. Curious, she shielded her eyes from the cars' brightness and watched. Maybe something simple first, then make a car backflip. Looking around, she saw a bunch of trash further in the alley. Finding a small wrapper piece, she carefully sent it over to the cop, making it hover behind him. When he opened the box and took out a donut, Rachel quickly placed the piece of wrapper on the donut. When he bit into it, a confused look came over his face. Spitting out the bite, he looked down at the soggy paper mixed in with the chewed bits of the donut. He angrily threw the rest of the donut on the ground, and stomped into the shop and gestured with the rest of the box. As the door slowly closed, Rachel could her him yell, "I warned you, NO MORE MISTAKES, YOU STUPID - " Rachel couldn't hear the rest, as the door closed. She giggled. Now, time for some backflipping cars...
She didn't know how or why it happened again, but it did. One minute she was giving people a crazy unexpected ride by making cars flip, the next she angrily started crushing them, with the people still inside. It was a short burst of anger, luckily, so she ran as soon as she could, dodging shots from stun bullets, using her shield when needed. Running through alleys, around cars, silently gaining speed. Turning a corner, she looked back and saw she lost the cops that were chasing her. Running faster, almost tripping, she threw herself into one of two deadend alleys she made into her safe spots. Running towards the cars roughly disguised as the walls, she moved them up slightly and dove through, placing them back as quietly as possible. Peeking through a small gap, she watched as most of the cops ran past, but a few stopped and looked around. She covered her mouth, quieting her heavy breathing. They walked away, looking around. Rachel had made sure that her hideouts were almost impossible to see, unless you knew what to look for. Her painting skill as a normal human really came in handy. The thermal hiding tech she stole is also useful. She walked to the back wall and grabbed some chips. That run was exhausting.
3) The world is Scifi, there is no hardlight yet, it's in the works. There is minor kinetic shielding, limited to the Factory faction.
If you can come up with a good reason for an odd ability, it's fine. The tower gave birth to amalgamates so as far as body mods go, it's all within reason.
Due to my laptop deciding to crash harder than Eden when it hit earth and made the moon, deadlier the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs, I have to push back the start date as it yeeted my OS into the Singularity.
Should be Friday night or Saturday. Greatest apologies.
0502782 can cause extreme migraines to one target within eyesight of 0502782. 0502782 can also cause heavy mental trauma (hallucinations, headaches, random/unnecessary pain, fogged eyesight, e.g) to 1-5 targets. It can create horrifying illusion "fields" that make who or whatever is inside these "fields" hallucinate, seeing horrors, monsters, and general human fears within these areas. These areas can only be seen when someone enters them and can range from 3-10 feet in size, and there can only be 2 of these fields active at one time. 0502782 can "phase" through non-physical matter to get from point A to point B in seconds. 0502782 can "teleport" up to 10 feet in a straight direction that is not blocked by physical matter (glass, walls, doors, e.g).
Once, this creature was a scientist before the explosion. After the event, it had lost all of its memories and skills it had once had as a human.
0502782 is extremely powerful with its psionic power, but lacks in physical power. It is frail and weak, and can lift no more than 5 kg. It is also slow in movement speed and small, hovering 2 feet off the ground. It is easily hurt and has little to no endurance and armor. Additionally, it can only consume the fear and hate of others minds. If 0502782 cannot receive its food source, its psionic power weakens, and if exposed to gas-form lead, it instantaneously falls unconscious and will not awake until it is removed from the environment and given 5-10 hours to retain consciousness, and if exposed to gas-form iron, its psionic power is disabled entirely until it is removed from the environment. Additionally, mechanical entities/objects (drones, droids, mechs, e.g) are immune to the effects of 0502782's abilities.
Brief History: Once a scientist in the tower. It was Jace Kane. After the blast, he had been thrown out of the tower on the lower levels and into the city. He hid in the sewer system as his painful and gruesome transformation began. After, he had become what he is now. A tall, strange, fleshy horror with odd abilities. It lost all of its memories of what he was before the transformation, believing it was born inside the sewers. When it resurfaced to explore, it was quickly found and caught by enforcement and brought into the tower for testing and containment.
I fixed it up a bit. Some changes were made and its looking pretty good right now. Is it good, or does it need more improvements?
Appearance: Machai stands at 7' 4", usually head and shoulders above it's human comrades. It's armor is a mix of blue and silver, with highlights of yellow. The visor on it's helmet is tinted black, hiding a lot of the wiring inside. Over the chest is a thin bullet vest.
Armaments: Machai can use a variety of weapons, usually equipped before being deployed. However, it's most effective weapon is an Daedalus pulse rifle, capable of delivering five-round energy bursts with a single pull of the trigger. It also carries a Desert Eagle 50. Cal which is kept in a secret holster within it's right thigh.
Defences: Machai's skeleton is made out of Reisiligr Plate Armor. Having rediscovered Damascus Steel, Daedalus created an alloy several times stronger than carbon nanofiber with the downside of being a bit heavier. The weight of the skeleton and armor plating is roughly 273kg and can withstand 57,521.10 newtons(5 story drop) before destruction. The method of creating the alloy has been kept unknown outside the Factory, which allows them to keep their edge.
Skills: With Daedalus's cutting edge AI, Machai is more than capable of handling operations. It's ocular systems aids Machai's accuracy and can be switched to night-vision. It also has a comprehensive database of weapons and equipment. Being a robot, it possesses higher than average strength and it isn't deterred by much. However, it's most impressive feature is it's ability to call in the Aegis Suit (colored like Machai).
The Aegis Suit is a 10ft tall exoskeleton that is used primarily for combating high level Para threats. After a bit of wait time, Machai receives the suit via airdrop and pilots it like a mech suit. It's bulwark armor can withstand 172,563.3 newtons of force. It's armaments include a full-auto Gauss machine gun and a shoulder mounted [REDACTED]
Weaknesses: Machai's AI right now is... simple. While within combat it is a force to be reckoned with, Machai lacks free-will and is limited within it's orders. It requires maintenance and repairs, especially when damaged. As a one of a kind bot, this can be difficult. Machai must also be recharged as it runs on a power supply, though it has a long battery life of 12 days, and 10 hours to fully recharge. It is also vulnerable to EMPs and high level hacks, although it has an untested failsafe meant to stop a complete hijack.
The Aegis Suit, while comparatively stronger than Machai, has a very limited power supply. Unlike Machai, who can enter one combat situation into another, the Aegis Suit is usually limited to one confrontation depending on how much it's been taxed. It also takes time to be deployed, anywhere between two to six minutes. This leaves a window where Machai is vulnerable to stronger opponents.
Brief History: Machai is a unique robot created by the mysterious Daedalus. After the MPD bought the contract, Machai has only ever known the police service after it's initial testing. With it's strong body and capable combat capabilities, Machai became the spearhead of many SWAT-like Operations. Over it's year of service, Machai has operated within 350 missions and has proved it's worth. Within the MPD, Machai has shown it is a loyal, effective tool with many more operations to carry out.
[07/08/2049] //INITIATE ACTIVATION //MACHAI POWER SUPPLY... ONLINE //MACHAI MOTOR FUNCTIONS... ONLINE //MACHAI OCULAR VISION... ONLINE The camera whirred to life within Machai's headpiece as it's vision flickered for a brief moment. Machai found itself being activated within the halls of the Fortress, the MPD's base of operations located in the northwest of Marlon. Checking it's readings, Machai was operating at one hundred percent power. In front of it stood Detective Commander Chrysander Ingvald, leader of Task Force Ibis. "Machai, run diagnostics." He ordered.
It took a few moments before the robot responded. "All systems nominal, Sir." Machai announced before stepping out of his charging container, which was tubular kind of case. The Commander nodded before ushering the bot to follow him, which Machai obeyed, the mechanical whirring echoing behind Ingvald as they made their way to the shooting gallery where the rest of Ibis was stationed. Upon entering, Machai noted that a couple of the squadmates were talking about a triple homicide that happened yesterday in the Exclusion Zone but their conversation was cut short with the arrival of Ingvald and Machai. The three that were waiting stood up and saluted the Commander who put them at ease. He handed Machai a pistol, one that was a bit smaller than what Machai usually uses. "Run Course 5." Ingvald called out, making the digital holograms flutter into existence. "Machai, do your thing."
"Copy that." Machai simply replied as it calmly took the pistol with two hands, scanning the area in front of it. One red target pops up suddenly and is almost immediately dispatched, the bullet hitting centre-mass as Machai squeezed the trigger. Two more targets appeared on Machai's right hand side, making the robot lock on and taking out the closer hostile before quickly hitting the second in rapid succession. Next, a blue target slid across the firing range, which represented a friendly or civilian, and Machai rightly did not shoot it. Three more hostiles appeared with a friendly sliding the other way. Machai buried three bullets with almost pinpoint accuracy into the targets.
The final test was a civilian target sliding just in front of a hostile target that moved behind it. It took Machai a few moments as it calculated the probability of hitting the innocent and identifying the exposed parts of the target it could reasonably hit to efficiently take it down. With five bullets left, Machai pulled the trigger two times. The first glanced into the side of the hostile target, which caused it to slow down and create separation between itself and the friendly target. A second later, the final bullet caused the target to dissipate into nothing as the course was completed. Being the first robot officer, Machai has broken almost every single record in the Force.
Ingvald nodded and shut off the shooting range as the rest of the squad looked on. "Alright Squad. Keep on standby. We could be deployed at anytime."
Jace can cause extreme migraines to one target within eyesight of him. Jace can also cause heavy mental trauma (hallucinations, headaches, random/unnecessary pain, fogged eyesight, e.g) to 1-5 targets. Jace can also sense other living creatures within a 20 foot radius and telepathically communicate to them, regardless if they are blocked by any kind of matter except for gas form lead. He can create horrifying illusion "fields" that make who or whatever is inside these "fields" hallucinate, seeing horrors, monsters, and general human fears within these areas. These areas can only be seen when someone enters them and can range from 3-10 feet in size, and there can only be 2 of these fields active at one time. Jace can "phase" through non-physical matter to get from point A to point B in seconds, allowing him to "teleport" up to 10 feet in a straight direction that is not blocked by physical matter (glass, walls, doors, e.g).
Skills:
- Diplomacy - Motivation - Problem solving - Strategic thinking - Coordinating - Observation - Critical thinking - Research
Weaknesses:
Jace has powerful psionic power, but he lacks in physical power. He is frail and weak, and can lift no more than 5 kg. He is also slow in movement speed, hovering 2 feet off the ground. He is easily hurt and has little to no endurance and armor. Additionally, he can only consume the fear and hate of others minds. Additionally, mechanical entities/objects (drones, droids, mechs, e.g) are immune to his abilities. Lastly, Jace is contained in a controlled environment for studying and is occasionally locked in Cyrostasis.
Brief History: Jace Kane was once a scientist in the tower. He had a mother, a dying father, a wife, and two kids. He filed papers, conducted research, and delivered files, messages, and notes to other co-workers. He was transporting some files from his office to the board, as they requested, but something wasn't right. He decided to investigate. Suddenly, as he turned around the corner, a massive explosion blasted him out a window and onto the street. In the confusion, he hid in the sewers in hopes of seeking shelter from the debris. After he hid, he began to change. His body in massive pain and a headache that felt like his mind was being torn out of his head. His hands suddenly shaking, changing, mutating. His fingers turned into claws, his hands into talons, his legs dissipated and a tail sprouted behind him. His mouth, ears, and nose fused with his face and his eyes... his eyes fell out of his head. After such a horrific change, he couldn't recall who he was, or even what he was. His memory quickly fading until nothing was left. His mind an empty desert. He was left alone in the sewers with no memory of who he was and a body he didn't know.
Whatever or whoever Jace was, was gone. He had turned into something entirely new. A strange creature that seemed to enjoy watching people suffer and causing fear, trauma, and mischief. He had stalked people through the sewer vents and manhole covers, tricking people here and there and occasionally making one or two run for the hills. His playful nature made him a little ambitious and curious, so he decided to leave the safety of the sewers, just for a few moments. He lifted the manhole cover and slipped outside. He could feel the cold city air brush past him. He felt happy, for a few moments. A scream echoed nearby. Jace turned towards the noise to find a human civilian standing there with a look of horror. The civilian quickly pulled out their phone to dial a number and fled. What a welcome... Jace thought. He took a look around, curious to find out what was around. Some shop stalls littered the alleyway, a dumpster was lined nicely in the corner of the two buildings, and a news TV was on a street post, the news reading: "Triple Homicide by an unknown Para in the Exclusion Zone. MPD still investigating and reminds civilians that that area is dangerous and off limits as the buildings are deemed unstable..." Jace inspected the nearest stall. It was unoccupied, but it had a few goods lying on the table. Before Jace could search further, he heard something behind him. "This is the police! Stand dow.... what the hell?". Jace turned around slowly to find a man in a suit holding a gun pointed directly at him. What makes you think I should? Jace thought telepathically to the man. Before the man could respond, Jace used an imaginary hand and grabbed the mans brain and began to squeeze. The man dropped down to his knees holding his head and screamed. More police arrived right after and one of the men shot Jace with a taser. Jace yelled out in pain and released the other police officer, trying to find the will to stop the others. But he couldn't. Couldn't move, couldn't do anything, couldn't stop the pain. He started to falter, screaming and screaming until he went limp, the world fading around him. He heard trucks pull up, and in his last moments of consciousness, he heard someone. "Pack it up, bring it to containment".
My apologies for the late sheet. Had to attend a training course for work that my manager failed to tell me about xD
Not sure if you class Gravity Manipulation as a 'Universal Power' but I hope I've managed to balance it enough for you.
D A R I U S B L A C K | 2 6 | B E T A T H R E E
GRAVITY MANIPULATION: Darius possesses the ability to control and manipulate the fundamental force of Gravity within a 30 meter radius. The true extent of his control allows him to alter the direction and intensity of the pre-existing gravitational force within that radius to suit his needs, as well as create and manipulate entirely new sources of gravity from within various inanimate objects that may enter or be already situated within his vicinity of control. This ability to create and control gravity also extends to living organisms too, although Darius is far more limited in his range of applications with regards to this aspect.
By manipulating how his own body responds to the gravitational pull of the Earth, Darius can effectively grant himself the ability to fly. He may also create a new source of gravity within himself to attract and repel objects to and from his own being, provided they remain within his control radius. In order to be able to directly affect how other living beings respond to his Gravity Manipulation, Darius must be touching and remain in continuous contact with that being.
LIMITATIONS:
Whilst manipulating existing Gravity, or creating an entirely new source, Darius remains almost immobile, only being capable of moving his body at a significantly reduced speed until he has finished.
The intensity of g-force used against living beings, other than himself, can not exceed 9Gs (Fighter Pilots may experience up to 8/9Gs with special suits to prevent fainting). In other words, Darius couldn't use his ability to force someone to implode or explode. The most he could do is force them to pass out with the chance of internal hemorrhaging, depending on how long he is able to maintain contact. (The effects of g-force don't actually affect Darius due to his proficiency of self-manipulation)
Objects that enter Darius' vicinity of control, at a velocity that any normal Human Being couldn't possibly register - Bullets, mostly - are unable to be directly affected by his Gravity Manipulation, unless he was notified of the object beforehand and fully concentrating on it during entry. (There's no way he could stop a hail of bullets. Maybe one or two, if someone were to literally point a gun at his head)
Darius may only concentrate on one aspect of his Gravity Manipulation at a time. Be it, altering the existing Gravity around him, creating/manipulating a new source within an inanimate object, creating/manipulating a new source within himself or creating/manipulating a new source within another living being via direct contact.
SKILLS:
Highly trained in C.Q.C. i.e. Proximity hand-to-hand combat, close-quarter target negotiation with short-range firearms & various forms of Swordsmanship including, but not limited to; Fencing, Kenjutsu & Taijijian.
Extensively schooled in the art of Corporate Warfare, mostly leaning towards Security, Sabotage and Assassinations with limited experience in Cyber Systems.
Exceptional aptitude for evasion and subterfuge gained from his time as a Lorne Corporation Security Officer/Consultant (Corporate Spy).
WEAKNESSES:
Standard Human Physiology, aside from Cybernetic Arms.
Official Lorne Corp Status: AWOL - Contain & Capture. Unofficial Lorne Corp Status: Excommunicado - Shoot on Sight.
Socially handicapped due to his previous position and conditioning to become a Corporate Spy. Often works alone, has difficulty working in groups.
Often motivated by money, struggles to empathize with those who stand to fight behind true causes.
FACTION: Lorne Corporation
HISTORY: Darius' life prior to his personal involvement with the Lorne Corporation was a rather mundane one. The only child to a pair of Lorne Corp. Scientists until he was very suddenly and rather surprisingly orphaned after a 'freak' lab accident that caused both of his parents to fall severely ill and continue to deteriorate rapidly until their deaths, which occurred only days apart. Barely past the age of 6, Darius was thrust into a world of unknown but not before it was decided by a Corp. Executive to formally adopt him through the Corporation itself in order to re-home, educate and train him as an in-house Security Officer. This would secure him as a very capable asset many years later and placate the various media outlets, who had attempted to used the deaths of Darius' parents, as well as his subsequent orphaning, as a means to attack the Lorne Corporation, which the Mainstream Media were wont to do at the time.
Several years later, at the age of 18, Darius had proven himself as an exceptionally skilled Security Officer for the Corporation and was swiftly promoted to Consultant, where he was given far greater autonomy for his assignments aimed outside of the Company and often left to his own devices. This would lead Darius down an irrevocable path to finding the truth behind his Parents' deaths, although that wouldn't happen until some years later. Before then he would infiltrate several tech companies, to whom Lorne Corporations would consider either rivals or some promising start-up, in order to enable them to stifle new technological discoveries due to be unveiled by their competitors or initiate in a hostile takeover once certain scandals or calamities had been well-fabricated.
By the time he'd turned 26, Darius was well on track to becoming Deputy Chief of Security. However, with the sudden explosion at the top of the Tower and a certain truth revealed with regards to his parents during this event, Darius found himself inexplicably thrust into a world of unknown yet again as he was now considered 'Excommunicado.'
"No more Para's! No more Para's! No more Para's!"
Darius stood amongst the crowd of angry protesters, who had occupied the park outside Lorne Corporation's Tower for some hours now, baying for blood after news spread of the most recent 'Para Attack' within the Exclusion Zone. A triple homicide if the reports were to be believed, just one shy of a mass murder. Not that any of it particularly bothered him, he wasn't here to protest. He'd simply kept his silence and watched, feigning being part of them, as members of the MPD tried to contain the reckless mob and news reporters scurried onto the scene to be the first ones to narrate over the current events taking place.
But none of this concerned Darius in the slightest. He was only here as part of an impromptu reconnaissance mission. Once he'd heard about the initial protests, Darius had rushed across town to join them. This would be the perfect opportunity for him to gain some insight on the Tower's upgraded external security systems. He wasn't going miss a chance to gain some easy information. It had been just over 4 months since the explosion that had rocked the Tower and changed the lives of thousands, his own especially. Though not merely due to his new-found abilities but also due to a secret truth he'd unearthed that same night amidst the Tower. The real reason behind his parent's death. It had broken him and, at the time, his world had come crashing down around him, before the Tower itself followed suit.
Darius didn't remember much after the explosion, only that he had used the opportunity to escape the Tower and the Lorne Corporation entirely. But it wasn't long before they sent out an All-points Bulletin to the MPD, clarifying his status as AWOL and designating him as a Parahuman. How could they have known? He himself had only become aware of the fact after he'd escaped from the Tower. He tried not to dwell on it too much. Darius' mind was pulled back into the present by the growing rowdiness of the crowd. People had begun jostling each other more violently now that the MPD had arrived and began attempting to corral them away from Tower as much as possible. 'It's time to go.' He thought to himself.
Darius took one last look around, confirming the information he'd gleaned from this visit and then plotting his exit from the protests so that he wouldn't raise any suspicion from the MPD units who were growing in number by the minute. He'd covered the bottom half of his face as he usually did. Fortunately enough there were some protesters who had thought to do the same. Darius could tell things were bound to grow out of control the longer he stayed. He began slinking his way towards the back of the crowd, heading for an alleyway to the south-west of the park grounds. After that he'd have to take a random route to lose any potential tails before heading back to his rundown studio apartment located in the middle of an industrial estate on the southside of the city. The Lorne Corporation had eyes everywhere, a fact he knew well from the years spent working as one of their lap dogs.
This had been the first time he'd visited the Tower since the explosion, but he was sure it certainly wouldn't be his last.
- Jace can cause mental trauma to any one target he chooses within a 5 foot radius as long as the target is not blocked by physical matter.
- Jace can "phase" through non-physical matter within a 10 foot radius, allowing him to "Teleport", however, "Phasing" takes a few seconds to minuets (depending on the distance the target area is), and he is still a physical object that can be hit. It is just moving faster.
- Jace can connect himself to other beings he can see, allowing him to have very minor influence over the target. The effect lasts for 1-3 hours. The effects can be fought however, and any damage (physical or mental) dealt to ether the influenced target or Jace will damage both. If Jace is damaged, normal damage will be dealt to the influenced target. Any damage dealt to the influenced target will cause twice as much harm to Jace (pain only, not physical damage).

Due to Jace's memory loss, he currently has no skills

He heard trucks pull up, and in his last moments of consciousness, he heard someone. "Pack it up, bring it to containment".
