Trainer Name:
Basil RivensAppearance: 5'9 and he got his piercings and dyed his brown hair white when he left home. He is told quite often that he looks anxious constantly. He paints his own tattoos though they aren't real so they will fade over time.
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Personality: At first glance one would think that Basil is a timid, anxious person and that's because he is. People make him feel uneasy and is really only relaxed when he is with Pokemon or is drawing, unless someone is watching him draw. Aside from that, he is actually quite a friendly, amicable person once they get past the awkwardness. Still, he's not exactly a ladies man and will flop about like a Magikarp if placed in situations involving flirting with the opposite sex.
However, he is strangely rebellious; he hates being told what to do and hates having things decided for him. After all, he is trying to improve himself as a person and wants to be someone who can take charge of his own life and live it with confidence.
To say he dislikes the nobility would be putting it lightly.
Hometown: Isson, Worldedge City
Background: You would think being born to nobility to would be a ticket to an easy life, but it is as they say; all that glitters is not gold. In his case, Basil was born as youngest of three children to the owner and CEO one of the region's highest grossing Pokemon pharmaceutical company and the heir to a shipping conglomerate. The moment he was born everything from what hobbies he would have to what profession he would have to even who he would marry. Expectations to be great and hold his family name up were placed upon him, but things did not turn out as they wanted for their son. Basil was a painfully timid, clumsy child that failed every goal that his parents set for him despite his best efforts. He was not nearly as athletic and charismatic as his eldest brother and he certainly did not have the business savvy, absurd intelligence, and confidence that the second eldest had.
What he did have was a natural artistic ability and an affinity towards Pokemon, neither which his family cared for, ironic considering that they made medicine for the latter. It was not just his family he did not fit in with, but the rest of high society as well, find it nauseating dealing with these kinds of people. It was just a game of one upping and gossiping, not talking to each other as if they were friends, but more like they were trying to impress and get something out of each other. It was a strange world that he could not break into nor did he want to. Believe it or not, he would actually sneak out of his family's estate to go and mingle with the regular folk of Worldedge City, finding that he had more in common with them. It would be odd to think a noble would be jealous of normal people, but that was the strangeness that he found himself in.
Years and years of this cliche would drive anyone up the wall. He was sick of it; the entitlement, the pretentious self-importance, the expectations that he could never reach for his parents set for him while his brothers could with ease. There had to be something more to this caged life and sure enough, it came to him in the news of Professor Kalmia scouting for new trainers to complete the Pokedex. Of course, every child and their Growlithe wanted to get a piece of this so what were the odds of her giving him a Pokedex? Well, apparently she must root for the underdog because she decided he would be one of the few to receive a Pokedex. His parents gave him their permission, mainly because they did not care what he did anymore after years of disappointment.
For the first time in his life, he was actually free. The world was wide open for him now, but with freedom comes responsibility and grit, especially for a journey to face the Pokemon League.
