We have a topic for music, books, videogames, but I didn't see one for what shows or movies you're watching.

So yeah! Feel free to discuss your fave films or series that you have on your list.

I just finished watching this anime called "keep your hands off eizouken" and it was a really cute, wholesome anime about 3 high school friends who make an anime. I would recommend it if you're looking for a slice of life anime to watch, and if you're a fan of the animation process or learning about it. I'm also rewatching Bojack Horseman (netflix) and it's as enjoyable as ever. It's a show about this washed up, Hollywoo celebrity who has an ongoing battle with addiction. It's well written and funny, but it really hits you in gut with some of the darker themes. I would def recommend.

On my list: "I am not okay with this" (Netflix), the half of it (netflix), 1922 (netflix), and a couple others I can't recall right now. I love horror, so I'm always on the lookout for something creepy or unsettling. It's much harder for me to get into animes now-- I'll always like anime but I feel really picky about it. I love thrillers and themes of existentialism as well.

Wouldn't recommend: I tried watching this show called ID: invaded that a close friend of mine said I would like. While it was intruguing at some points, I found it to be convoluted as the plot went on. I kept falling asleep in later episodes because I just grew more and more disinterested so yeah.

Share your faves, your disappointments, and your reccomendations!

@vaguely We have had threads for cinema and anime discussion in the past, but I'm guessing they died off as they hadn't been as popular as the video game thread.

As for the topic at hand, I Am Not Okay With This is something I would definitely recommend even if you're hesitant to watch Netflix branded shows. You can watch the entire season in the span of a movie's worth of time, and for me, at least, it was a mindblowing experience.

@Kuro Agreed! I Am Not Okay With This is so very awesome.

@Vaguely, you might like Castlevania, if you haven't seen it already - it is anime, horror, and really, really good... if you like mildly graphic violence, an amazing soundtrack, and dark subject matter with witty repartee. A recent disappointment: the most recent season of Black Mirror. <_<; I only liked one episode, as the other two felt like flat filler material.

I love horror so much, and wish there was more done in the genre.

I watched Big Little Lies 1&2 recently and that was an incredibly fun show. Stellar cast as well.

@Zyshioooh, you like horror too?! So there's a Spanish horror movie on Netflix right now called "The Platform." Its based on people who live in a tower, and the people at the top get the first choice of food while the people on the lower floors get leftovers. Def seems to have some themes on capitalism and seems very unsettling in general. I havent watched it yet but omggggg it looks so intriguing.

Yeah; IANOWT is great. A breath of fresh air compared to most Netflix shows as I tend to dislike or absolutely hate nearly anything they create. I had to have people convince me to continue with Daybreak and The Rain, and even then I didn't finish the latter.

Watched The Witcher on Netflix. Maybe the worst eight hours of television I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing. I imagine my viewing experience was analogous to what it feels like to stick a rusty nail in your eyeball.

The Last Kingdom, on the other hand, is delightful.

On My Block.
That show, while sometimes a little eye-worthy, is definitely in the vein of what I like from shows like it: real and a little over-the-top. Given it is co-created by the creator of MTV's Awkward, which was one of my favorite early-2010s teen dramas, it's no wonder I am enjoying On My Block.

So I decided to check it out and the first two minutes convinced me that this show is going to be something special. I love the dexter/you-styled inner thoughts. I know some don't like it but man it's great if done well.

I've been watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and I saw a show that gave up on itself but it would of been fun: Deadly Class.

Yes, I do! I haven't watched The Platform yet, but I have watched Veronica - another Spanish horror movie on Netflix - and it was an absolute treat.

I also tried Daybreak and could not finish even one episode... Netflix seems to have the same issues with quality control as most mainstream content. I always feel like I am sifting through a bayou's worth of murky water looking for lost diamonds...

I've been watching Elementary which I don't know why I slept on for so long since it has two of my favorite things: police procedural mysteries and Lucy Liu in killer fashion.
