An adventure roleplay in the vein of Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones and the Librarian. The roleplay follows a small group of knowledge seekers, adventurers, grave robbers and the foolish as they search for the lost treasures of Avalon, including the legendary sword Excalibur. Their adventure begins in the United Kingdom but will extend across the world from the deserts of Syria to the Chateaus of France and ancient coastal castles in Portugal and the Mediterranian. Alliances will shift, friendships will be made and broken, and the balance of the world will be put into question as the heroes fight against and are tempted by an evil group aiming to use the ancient treasure for their own means.

After all, who doesn't want to be a Nathan Drake or Laura Croft?

The setting begins in modern times, somewhere in the 2010s-2020s. I'm not too much of a stickler on the "present year" since so much setup has gone more in the "what-if" historical piece of the roleplay. The roleplay begins in the United Kingdom with a research expedition that claims to have found the island of Avalon and a set of ruins that may hold treasures dating back to the 6th century. What follows is a globe-trotting adventure to the deserts of Syria, the Chateaus of France, castles of Portugal, and the jungles of South America, all in a race to find the legendary sword which may give the power to defeat any army.

While any Drew roleplay is focused first on character, action, and adventure rank extremely high on this roleplay as well. Gunfights, chases, dangerous climbs, ancient traps, and more await the team, as does betrayal, capture, death, and destruction. If you've ever watched a film based on the adventure genre or played an adventure game like Uncharted, you know that there are lots of near-fatal moments, crazy jumps, and constant spikes in action and exploration, something I hope to have in this RP. Fair warning about politics as well, the villains of the RP will be a mix of hired mercenaries, enemy treasure hunters, and a secretive group of neo-fascists. Literally modern-day Indiana Joneses battling modern-day Nazis.

Your character has been chosen for this expedition to Avalon for a reason. Perhaps you're a security expert, a wily thief well known for breaking into any cage, a brilliant academic who speaks twenty languages...your character has some sort of hook on why they have joined the team. The group should all bring different strengths and weaknesses for the group, after all, even Indiana Jones had allies assisting him in his adventure. No Short Rounds this time though, unless you can create a darn good reason why a teenager is working alongside rough and tumble archeologists, linguists, soldiers, thieves, and con-men.

The other big focus I want the characters to have revolves around a Character Flaw. Every character will need to have some form of character flaw that they battle throughout the adventure. It could be an Obsession with finding the treasure, and they would be willing to put the others in danger to get their hands on it. It could be Greed for more money, something that would force them to reach for gold coins on a weight-trap or sell out their allies for a quick buck. Whatever this flaw is, it is secret to all the other characters and will be secret to all the other players as well. I will okay your flaw via PM as to keep it hidden from the rest of the cast.

Mayata Dagmar

Name
Mayata Dagmar

24

Personality Traits
May is a curious type who loves to explore her surroundings when she gets the chance. She's extremely overconfident in her abilities and has no problem letting others know just how awesome she is. She's more about showing, not telling and the more dangerous, the better. Underneath it all, she's greedy, and wants her pay day above all else.

Backstory
May was four when her mother disappeared without a word, leaving her with her father, who was a genuinely good guy who did his best to raise his daughter. Four years later, her father grew ill and incapable of working and the starvation threatened to kill both of them. At eight, May was too young to find a job, herself, and eventually grew desperate enough to steal the few things she needed to keep the two of them alive. Unfortunately, her father did not survive, leaving May without a home and caring for herself. Over the years May grew more and more capable, while also growing into her looks. She found herself able to fool men quite easily into giving her what she wanted, before leaving them behind with nothing more than the clothes on their back. Eventually, May garnered a reputation, making it far more difficult for her to get away with much of anything aside from stealing from street vendors. This was hardly enough to keep her fed, let alone maintain a standard of living she would have preferred.

At eighteen she captured the eye of a wealthy man, who fell in love her, despite being told of her reputation. He vowed that he could change her and began to pursue. May pretended to play coy and disinterested and allowed him to believe that he was winning her over. Learning from her past, she chose not to steal from him immediately, but instead agreed to move in with him. In the mean time she began setting her sights for much larger and more expensive targets, museums, arts, jewelry - of which she would sell at a spectacular price. Her reputation began to grow in a much more unexpected way. Collectors of fine artifacts, those who had the disposable income and the desperate desire to own that of which was not theirs, but didn't have the skills necessary to procure those items themselves, tracked her down and offered her exorbitant amounts of money for her to track these items down and bring them back for them.

She, at long last, found her truest love of life; Travel and adventure. She lived for the life of adventure, accepting any reason to go to new and exciting places, honing her abilities along the way and applying them to tracking down rare artifacts. Eventually the man she had created her life with bored her, and she no longer needed him to maintain her livelihood - She emptied his bank account and used the money to escape her mundane life and rebuild her reputation in another part of the world, where she continues to track down rare and priceless artifacts for rich collectors.

Other Info
May is particularly talented with daggers, and has quite the collection. She always carries several on her person, in case she needs them. She keeps up fairly decently with the supplies she needs for most basic adventures.
Pet - A small bat - Name: Kiwi (She always has Kiwi with her)

Delphinium "Delphi" Penrose

Name
Delphinium "Delphi" Penrose

Age
29

Personality Traits
Delphi is a social butterfly, finding friends in every sort of place. She is often one to fill silence with chatter, and finds no topic off limits. She laughs loudly and often, and is generally a curious soul, particularly when it comes to details about other people. However, while she does talk a lot, she rarely speaks about herself, and when she does, often in vagaries and deflections.

Backstory
Delphi grew up as a military brat, constantly globetrotting the world as her parents moved from base to base. Her mother was an intelligence officer specializing in linguistics, her father a professor in ancient literature. Even at a young age, Delphi showed a talent in learning new languages which was fostered by her parents. She was homeschooled by both of her parents, but was also pushed to spend a lot of time with the natives in whatever area they were currently living in. However, they never managed to stay in one place for longer than 6 months, and so Delphi was quick to establish friendships and bonds within the limited time. This often led her to do reckless and careless things in order to garner attention and be memorable in the eye of potential new friends.

And that tendency often worked for her. She established good friends around the world constantly maintaining the relationships even at a distance via letters and rare phone calls. As she entered her highschool years, preparing to apply to colleges (a couple years early at her parents' behest), the family moved to a peaceful village on the east end of the Mediterranean Sea. But the peace was short lived, for the region went into a religious revolt against the democratic government. Her mother had to stay to do her work for her military, but made moves to smuggle her husband and daughter out of the country.

It failed and she was betrayed. Delphi's mother was publicly beheaded as a spy, with Delphi and her father thrown into prison. It was a grim time in the prison, the pair having to face many difficulties until Delphi managed to befriend one of the younger guards and convince him to free her in exchange for her hand in marriage. He could not free her father though, and Delphi was forced to leave him behind. As soon as she was freed, and in the home of her would-be husband, she sliced his throat and slipped out of the country.

She disappeared off the grid for a few years before reemerging in England, applying to a linguistics program at Oxford which she completed ahead of schedule. Now she travels the world, taking odd jobs in translation work, continuing to build her network of friends.

Other Info
Delphi carries a utility knife and while she is capable of defending herself, she is by no means especially skilled with it.
Delphi maintains a vast knowledge of languages, linguistics, and knowledge of many cultures.
Delphi maintains a network of contacts around the globe.

It's awesome seeing sheets already being made for the RP! I'm very excited to see how many people are interested in the story. I went ahead and made my GM-PC sheet, so folks could see how I tend to format my character sheets and also have a rough estimate on what I'm looking for in terms of style and length.

@Qitcat As far as the party size goes, I want around 4-5 characters in total. As far as the timeline goes, when I see how many people have an interest and how much time they'll need to devise their sheets, I'll probably put a deadline out for having a finished sheet.

Sorry for the wait on my character. I'm still having trouble coming up with a solid character idea. Haven't forgot about it though!

It's all good! Glad to see there's still interest in the RP! My suggestion is to just think of what kinds of skills would be needed for a large scale archeological dig, and build a character around that archetype.

I'm still trying to pound away at a character. I'm real sorry and I'm fine if you guys go ahead without me, I'd rather see this thing happen without me than not at all.

It's still on my plans to do this RP, but I'm really just waiting for my Co-GM to get their character together before moving forward. I'm juggling a bunch of RPs at the moment, and I feel it would be impossible for me to pull a solo-GM for this one along with several others.

Oh no, I'm perfectly fine waiting, I just wanted to check in on it and make sure - It's been awhile since I've been this into an idea and I would hate to see it fall by the wayside. No worries, as long as it's not been forgotten ^.^
