I'm going to leave before the thread implodes in true Inkarnate fashion. You guys have fun.

This discussion and its content is interesting; just remember to keep it civil. There's merit to looking at writing as both a personal art form and expression, along with writing being a medium that can be optimized to broaden its appeal or tweaked toward a target audience.

Knowing RPG this is not going to be interesting for much longer. Unless screeching and finger-pointing is interesting. I'm sure its interesting to someone!

Anyway, one of the worse writing advice that I ever saw was:

"Keep politics out of your writing."

I guess that person hates 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. lol

you were asking a question in a general chat specifically related to something you were writing. and you didnt tell me i was wrong (i wasnt), you called it a "jab". to paraphrase you, the point im making is being stingy and obnoxious over grammar while not being grammatical yourself isnt wise. roleplaying is a hobby and its really not the end of the world if people make mistakes, it doesnt warrant trying to rewrite their work. if it is really that offputting, leave the roleplay and find a new one. having an "im a better writer than you" attitude is the least productive attitude you could have.

Probably not, as I'd have the self awareness to know when the fuck to walk away.


Glad I dipped out when I did. No ragrets.

Now what's the next writing advice to discuss? People who say semi-colons are bad but don't know how to use them?

Come on, we're all simply bored and killing time. Why else would we be here? (And my roommate gets a kick out of reading my hate fan club.)

Like, if my friend just showed up on time, I'd be playing on the Switch and everyone else would have to find another stranger to harass on the internet. ^-^'

It's not harassment, pal. You have this uncanny ability to put yourself through shit and then have the audacity to insist you smell like roses. It's almost impressive.
