Feel free to describe your character's appearance more in-depth. You can include the types of clothes they like or accessories they wear, or stick to physical descriptors like height, it's up to you. If you choose not to include a face claim, this section is mandatory. If you use a face claim, you can delete this section if you want to.

This is not strictly your character's personality, but rather how they come off to others. For example perhaps your character is a big softy at heart and cries easily - but they look like a savage barbarian. In this case your character's reputation is "scary and misunderstood." Feel free to be as brief or as thorough as you please.

You don't have to include your character's entire life's worth of biography here, just a paragraph or two about how and why they decided to go on a journey. If we use the example from "How the RP Works," Grunhilda, we'd write about her recent engagement and her fiance's strange and rigid rules, and also about how Grunhilda feels about the situation especially as she decides to go through with it and travel. A more concrete reason for traveling makes for a better RP.

Definitely doesn't have to be exhaustive. Write about what your character is good at. You can do it in list form if you like. You can include things like navigation or good sense of direction, if they are proficient with a weapon, cooking ability, and if they practice any magic.

This is the most important section! Spend some time talking about your expectations for the RP and your own character's story. Do you want a decidedly happy ending, or just answers? Of course, please also include things you really want to avoid in your own character's story. For example, if you were dead set on not wanting you character to be the victim of a kidnapping, it would be important to let the rest of us know! Thanks.

Anything else you want to include in your sheet

An average looking woman with pale skin and long ginger hair. She's on the short side, but her shoulders are more broad than you'd expect for a woman. Although she works outside often, she enjoys wearing long dresses and skirts. She likes to look elegant, and keeps her clothes clean. It's not unusual to see her in a new ensemble whenever she can get her hands on one.

Always at the center of drama, and yet no one holds it against her - there's little else to do in their small town anyway. She comes off as a very curious and chatty person, and whenever the town gets a traveler, she's quick to get close to them. Very friendly with the male folk, especially out of towners. Her average looks don't help her much in the romance department, but her work ethic does. Grunhilda is always happy to lend a hand to her neighbors, especially if it means a new story to hear.

Grunhilda, a young woman looking forward to her marriage in a few week's time. She'd only know her fiance for a short while, but they both seemed to spark an instant connection. Her groom was very specific about the details of the wedding: including that both man and future-wife make their way separately to the base of Mt. Baben for the ceremony. Although she found this odd, when questioned her fiance only said it was a tradition for his family. With blessings from the village, Grunhilda packed a bag and was off on the road to the mountain.

Gossiping, cleaning, sewing and needlework in general. She can handily clean an animal hide and turn the skin into various things. She is friendly and has a silvertongue, or at least a bronze one. She knows extremely basic water magic and can create small amounts of water.

"Nothing too dark please! Some danger is okay for her but I'd like to avoid maiming hahaha... whether or not she actually ends up with her fiance doesn't matter to me, although I would like Grunhilda to grow into someone who would be fine without a husband. A young independent woman, if you will. I definitely would like her to strike up some friendships with other women, maybe pick up a martial skill? A happy ending definitely though, with or without a husband out of it."

Eliza is taller than most men, standing at around 181cm. Add her armor to the equation to make her the tallest person around. She has long, wavy red hair that she usually braids. Her expression is usually a stern frown or a grimace of disapproval.

Eliza always carries around her weapon of choice, whether it be a mace, axe, or halberd. She is almost always in armor as well.

Eliza embodies the statement "holier-than-thou." Others around her will never be able to reach the level of purity and goodness that she holds within her soul. Why bother taking criminals to prison when the agent of god's will can send them to the Afterrealms?

Born to a loving couple of merchants based in Haydrin's Seat, Eliza's early childhood was blessed with happiness and comfort. Her parents doted on her and her two older sisters. Life was good.

However, there are always people who will trample on the lives of others, for their own personal malice carries them away from the path of good. Those people burned down the Chayre home, killing every member of Eliza's family save herself. She was six years old at the time.

Eliza was taken in by the central church and taught magic by the priests, displaying incredible aptitude from a young age. Furthermore, she received combat training from one of the finest teachers in all of Sedaia. There was nothing more to it-she was just naturally talented at fighting. Before long, she was keeping up with the rest of the knights. Eventually, she surpassed them.

It's too bad that she developed a near-god complex along the way. While she is talented, constant praise and approval from her teachers taught her nothing but conceit. Her interpretations of doctrine are correct–anyone who disagrees with her is a heretic. Her ways of judging crimes are just–her sense of justice is perfectly balanced. After all, if her way of doing things was wrong, why would the gods bless her with such power and talent?

Conveniently, Eliza's temple in the Midlands likes to send her on extremely difficult missions that take a long time. She is currently pursuing a lead on a holy artifact that can supposedly cure any affliction.

I think the primary thing I'm looking for is a chance to do good action writing, which I don't get nearly enough practice on. I need some spicy opportunities for combat–whether they're strategic battles or rowdy brawls doesn't matter. I want to be able to show that Eliza is a capable warrior and paladin–but not much else. Badass moments are perfect for setting up the first part of that.

In terms of character progression/goals, I think Eliza should move towards becoming more self-aware of her shortcomings. HOW she is made aware of them is totally open–it can be the joys of companionship, the depths of despair, betrayal, injury, whatever. She obviously wants to get the artifact as soon as possible, but I am okay with her quest taking a backseat to other characters' storylines.

Eliza herself is willing to take a detour on her journey to assist others–it is, after all, the duty of the enlightened to help those in need. She knows that the search will be long; allies will be essential. Information and/or discovery is her final goal.

Cassius is lithe and fairly well built, standing at just over 6ft tall. His hair is a jet black with silver-blue eyes. He wears a set of well made armor that is a combination of leather and metal: leather at the joints to keep things flexible and metal to protect vitals. He wears a cloak over it that is lined with fur for when he travels to colder regions. He carries his swords in a sheath on his belt and his shield slung over his back, so he can dual wield or use a shield as the situation requires. He has many different pouches and vials on a belt that carry anything he may need for his hunts.

Cassius can come off as cold and unfeeling to those who first meet him, as his job always comes before anything else. He is quick to the point and focused on gathering information. However, if one was to meet him off the job while he's relaxing and having a good time they would see that he's fairly open to meeting new people and is pretty quick to laugh or jump into crazy ideas.

Cassius works as a spellsword all across the whole of Sedaia, mostly working on tracking down monsters that are threatening a city, but he doesn't often turn down any work that happens to come his way. He's done guard jobs, bounty hunting, or traveling to far reaches of the continent for expeditions or otherwise. No part of the continent is off his radar and he will explore all of it if he has the chance.

At present he is working on a job for a wealthy landowner that owns a large estate in The Midlands who has been having some trouble with a magically enhanced beast on one of the large plantations he owns in The Croplands. The beast is more dangerous than others he has tackled previously, or so his employer says. He is in the process of tracking it down, as he is unsure of its exact location, both so he can get paid and to help out the neighboring cities.

Getting to meet up with the other travelers and make connections is going to be a big part of this for him. That being said I'm pretty open to most anything when it comes to drama, complications, etc. I'm mostly in this to make a good story with y'all!

For character progression I think he wants to know that he can be more than just his job, which has kept him traveling for most of his life, and he's never really had a solid connection with anyone for more than a short time. He'd like to know that there's more than just surviving and killing. He loves exploring new lands, but doing it alone isn't always the most enjoyable experience. That being said something else he could probably stand to learn is how to ask for help when a job is too much for one person. I suppose how that comes about is up to you guys!

Cassius worships Palir-mainly for his focus on both danger and safety

Nea stands at 4'11 with the stocky, rounded build of someone who still hasn't fully grown out of childhood yet. Though her hands are callused from long hours in the kitchen and her attire is such that no one could mistake her for anything more than a servant, Nea's sleek hair and pale complexion are her self-declared charm points and she's stupidly confident that she'll grow up to be a jaw-dropping beauty come two or three more years.

Nea's position as apprentice maid in the summer estate of Lord Mildred Karstein down in the Croplands precludes basically any personal reputation she may have. As with any maid in the service of an aristocrat, she can be expected to be quiet, hard-working, and punctual, though some leniency should be given owing to her age and nature as an apprentice.

A letter from her village in the Highlands bade her to come back, with no further clarifications or instructions. After stressing about it for a couple days, Nea asked for leave from the butler, and as Lord Karstein was unlikely to be expected to return to the estate in the next half year, he allowed it, sending the girl off with some extra wages to help with travel expenses. It's unlikely to be enough for the whole trip though.

Having worked at the estate of an affluent lord for the last two years, Nea has become proficient in performing a variety of menial tasks and has trained herself to wake up at the crack of dawn, regardless of when she had slept the night before. It's unlikely that she would ever encounter something she didn't know how to clean, and Nea is especially skilled at butchering animals and cutting vegetables; it's why she had been primarily working the kitchen for the last four months.

Though an inexperienced traveller in that she doesn't spend her life on the road, Nea possesses the sturdiness of any commoner who lived their formulative years in the Highlands, and, in preparation for roadside dangers, has pounded a dozen or two nails through the business end of her travelling stick. Whether she possesses the will to swing it though with full intent of maiming another human being's face, however, is still up for debate.

Nea exists so I can practice writing volatile emotions. She's not a trained badass and she's not smart and she's not going to keep her cool in situations that her job hasn't prepared for her, so hopefully there will be plenty of situations where she wonders what the hell's going on. This, obviously, may exclude her from participating in combat scenes, especially near the start of the RP. I'm not sure where her character arc will go otherwise, but there are two things I'd like to clear up.

Once she reaches her village in the Highlands, Nea will leave the party permanently, no matter whether the situation at the village is tragic (oh no, everyone's dead) or immensely stupid (parents literally just wanted to see her again). As such, I'm open to any plot hijinks, so long as it doesn't take the note of something like "your parents were in another castle, so travel more with us". Partings are also things that I never get to write in RPs.

Ori is around 5'8, with short brown hair and grey eyes that are usually covered by a piece of cloth during the day. His regular attire covers most of his body, mostly a blue colour that is very loose and comfortable.

Ori travels around an awful lot, and he's well known in quite a few cities for being banned from every tavern in the area. For someone who'll be dead in two years, he's incredibly laid back and thoroughly lacking in self preservation. It comes off as a little odd, considering how much time and effort he continues to put into curing himself. He's easy enough to get along with even if he's a bit of a tease and not the best at following instructions.

There's a fairly popular children's story. One of the ones parents tell to scare their children into obedience - to make sure they won't do shouldn't. Here's the abridged version: there was a man, he loved his wife very much, she died, he cried, he used blood magic in a pitiful attempt to bring her back to life which inevitably failed, cursing their children and all of their descendants after them to die early deaths. Fun story, right?

Ori, as fate will have it, is a part of that cursed bloodline. In fact, as far as he knows, he's the only one left. It's not a surprise - the curse, along with extreme light sensitivity, has caused every single member of his family to die before they turned twenty five. Most of them died younger. He's lucky to have held on for this long. He's travelling for the sake of finding some kind of cure before he kicks the bucket - but time is running out.

Ori's journey will be about him trying to remove his curse, so he probably won't be taking massive detours to go kill god. Pretty much anything else goes! Whether or not the cure is found is for you lot to decide. Maybe it exists, maybe it doesn't, maybe he ends up dying, maybe he doesn't. (just don't kill him off too early please t-t)

Even if his situation is a bit grim, I don't expect Ori's story to be 100% serious and dark, since he's not that kind of person. The direction of his development will probably rely a lot on how his journey goes, so I couldn't say that I have a good idea of what I want for him. Surprise me!

• Skilled medic. It's his main source of income.
• Adept with blood magic, mainly in the curse removal department (though he can't figure out his own yet). He hates to use it and hardly ever does. It's illegal after all, so he doesn't tend to tell people about it either.
• Excellent vision at night or in darker/dimly lit environments.

Kendra is about 170 centimeters tall, and rather fit, with some obvious musculature to her, especially in her arms. She has an umber complexion, messy black hair, and dark brown eyes. In terms of adornments, silver cartilage cuffs, woven leather bracelets, and a jewel necklace or two are a staple of hers. Dree used to wear loose, light, linen clothing in combination with scale armour, but has switched to multiple layers of tighter-fighting cloth apparel and leather armour since leaving her home. She has kept her trusty swords though, and keeps one sheathed at each hip. She is currently travelling with a horse, as she prefers to keep enough gear on hand to set up camp just about anywhere.

As a travelling companion, Kendra is fun-loving, reliable, and affable, if on the intensely competitive state. She’s a great drinking buddy, an attentive listener, is fond of the occasional gambling, and doesn’t shy away from bed company given mutual attraction. As a warrior, she is competent and vicious, and can be a terror to behold for friends and enemies alike. Freshly spilled blood seems to invigorate her and drive her into a violence-prone frenzy. Those who looked too closely when she was in a genuine life-or-death battle often became wary of her afterwards.

Kendra is a member of a southern nomadic group in Scorchlands, which used to inhabit and wander around the south-east, right by the border; an area appropriately named Tailend. They faced a greater likelihood of encountering monsters compared to their northern compatriots, but their mines were also richer.

At one point in their history, they found a source of rare precious gems deep within the labyrinthine sprawl of The Sunken Mines – a type of highly mana-absorbent crystal (Dusk Tiedine). These fetched a lofty price, since foreign mages were convinced the mineral’s properties would make it the perfect material for attempting to re-discover the lost art of enchanting.

However, once the whole vein of gems was nearly depleted, strange things began happening in the deepest parts of The Sunken Mines. Knowledgeable natives suddenly began to get lost (or as some would say, were spirited away), there was a spike in accidents (despite proper precautions), and more and more monsters seemed to be drawn to the location. Eventually, the nomadic group decided to move further inland, in between Redpeaks and the Southern Oasis.

Even after settling elsewhere, this stubborn group of Scorchlanders sent expeditions to Tailend often – to scout, to cull the monster population, and to attempt to reclaim their territory. However, The Sunken Mines and its surroundings seemed to be getting worse over time; soil couldn’t be cultivated anymore regardless of efforts, the previously plentiful monsters suddenly all turned to bones and dust, people were sucked dry of their mana if they loitered, and the very sand and earth turned into a sickly gray colour.

Though they were able to contain the disease/curse via blood magic, they were unable to restore the mines or Tailend. After a vision of one of their elders foretold that the answer wouldn’t be found only by seeking within, Kendra has set off to travel without. She is scouring Sedaia, searching high and low for something that could revitalize Tailend. Whether that will be an artifact, a group of skilled magic-users, or something else, as long as it seems like a promising solution, Kendra is willing to take it back home.

Dual-wielding swordsmanship. Her combat style is extremely offensive, evasive, and agile. What she lacks in defense, she makes up in speed and gymnastic-like maneuvers around an enemy. She has a keen eye for an opponent’s weaknesses, and is swift to exploit them. Curiously, the more damage she sustains or deals, the fiercer she becomes.

Riding. Whether camels, horses, donkeys, oxen, or people (wait, what?) as long as it’s an animal that can be ridden, Kendra will be able to do so with ease and grace (after a few tries to get accustomed to an unknown mount, but never mind that). She is proficient at handling beasts of burden in general, and has been known to coax even the most stubborn of specimens to cooperate.

Travelling. Having grown up traversing a homogenous and often desolate wasteland, Dree has learned how to discern the most minimal of environmental cues to figure out where she is or needs to go. Though the exceedingly diverse foreign lands can sometimes confuse her, she is nonetheless not likely to get lost (well, not for so long that she would be worried about it). Kendra knows how to camp, live off nature (though much less so outside of Scorchlands), how to trade, barter, and handle coin.

Blood magic. Though it is a forbidden branch of magic, Kendra has grown up around and with it. She has a solid understanding of it, and knows how to practice it relatively safely. She uses it mainly to heighten her physical capabilities and to heal herself – not that she’d tell as much to outsiders. If asked about it, she’ll say her abilities are an innate bloodline ‘trait’ caused by the misdeeds of her ancestors.

I want this to be a story about the forbidden, forgotten, forsaken, and unfathomable. I’ve made Kendra’s goal and motivation what it is precisely because I want a story and consequences that won’t impact just her, but potentially all her people. How will she seek help while doing her best not to divulge her magical inclinations? Is the observed corruption in Tailend a result of this (rightly?) forbidden branch of magic or a backlash caused by depleting a natural resource? Honestly, as long as the journey is interesting, the answer doesn’t matter too much. Tone wise, I’m fine with both light and dark themes; in fact, I prefer to integrate both into a cohesive whole.

In regards to Kendra’s character arc, I want her to find at least one outsider that she feels like she can trust. Because though she’s very sociable, she has the ‘dark secret’ of being a practitioner of blood magic, and I want that to play a large part of her story, though she’s not primarily a mage. It is just that her beliefs in regards to this forbidden art are most likely to clash with others, which I’d like to explore. I also expect that she will have to face difficult decisions – and will perhaps often have to pick the so-called lesser evil when there are no optimal choices. How far is she willing to go in the mission to help her people? What will she end up doing? How will she avoid being taken advantage of? Or will she have to be the one taking advantage of someone instead? These and more are some of the questions and challenges I wish Kendra to face.

Definitely the thing I’m looking most forward to in this RP is interaction with others and the development of the group-directed story. Also, though I’m crap at worldbuilding, this seems like a great opportunity to try and involve more of that. Mystery, intrigue, drama? Yes, yes, and yes. Conflicts? Sure. An eventual, even if a begrudging resolution? Even better. Combat and monster slaying? Yes, please, I need more experience writing action scenes. Adventure? Duh. Romance? Yeah, though I prefer it to develop organically.

As for things to avoid…Well, I really wouldn’t want my character to die or end up in a situation where she’d be imprisoned/tortured for too long (I’m ok with some of the latter, but it could get stale if it dragged on). I’d prefer that the narrative didn’t result in a war, though if it somehow ends up unavoidable, then I’ll go along with it. Whatever the eventual conclusion, as long as it feels fitting to the developments that led up to it, I’m sure it’ll be a compelling one.

Long-haired woman with a very eccentric dress sense. Wears lots of bells that make little jingling noises wherever she goes. Is rarely seen far from her golden-feathered pet bird, Wicket.

An extremely powerful mage, here meaning ‘someone who was so isolated and friendless for so long that she had nothing better to do than study magic for unhealthy amounts of time.’ She seems nice enough, a kind and optimistic person who likes to dote on others and is starving for any form of positive interaction, but she’s also awkward, overbearing, extremely gullible, and has a bad sense of social boundaries. She does get along extremely well with animals, though, especially her bird. It’s a shame that her bird doesn’t seem to get along with anyone else…

Talanashta (but she likes to be called Tala) was living out a quiet life as a mage and naturalist in a lonely tower near a tiny village in the Croplands when one day a passing caravan of traders decided to stop nearby for the night. This didn’t happen often, and there was a reason it did now: while legitimate merchants favored larger and more well-paved roads, this lot were smugglers dealing in several illegal goods, taking a quiet route to avoid drawing suspicion. Part of their cargo was a collection of several rare and exotic animals and monsters, kept in cages to be sold on the black market as pets, and amongst them huddled a tiny prison housing a sick, shivering ball of feathers no longer than a thumb.

Long story short, the curious Tala ended up investigating, and, well, may have kind of liberated the entire menagerie and caused an incident that ended with a troop of imperial soldiers being called in to deal with all the monsters on the loose… Point was, by the time all that had died down, she’d nursed the tiny bird back to health and named him Wicket and decided that maybe she could keep him for a while.

There was a small problem with this. While Wicket was a very good bird and would definitely never do anything wrong, he was kind of a predator and did start exterminating the local avian population as soon as he was old enough to fly and oh gods did he just shoot fire from his nostrils?! Despite having spent years observing the local wildlife, Tala had never seen anything like him, and had no idea what he might look like as an adult. He grew quite slowly, but he also didn’t seem to ever stop getting larger, and after a year and a half of dealing with a steadily more rambunctious bird Tala decided that she probably couldn’t keep him forever. It was time to go out into the world and find out where he’d really come from, and then release him into the wilds to be with the rest of his kind, or at least somewhere he wouldn’t end up harming or being hunted by humans.

Having trained him as best she could not to ever breathe fire in public, Tala packed her bags, bought a map, and set out into the wider world, where she promptly ended up getting completely lost.

She can cook! Kind of an essential skill for living on one’s own. All her specialties are vegetarian, but they do taste quite good, and she also knows some handy herbal remedies for common ailments.

She can name the plants and animals! Or at least most of them. Except the one she really needs to right now. But anyway, uhhh, she knows many birds and has read many natural history books, so yes please ask her anything about nature if you need her to not stop talking for the next hour or so.

She’s a really good mage! Like, really good. Pretty much entirely stuck to wind element, but when it comes to blowing things she can’t be beat! no wait that came out wrong Her mastery is such that she can effect large-scale changes in the weather given time (about half an hour) and even fly through the air for short intervals with her voluminous sleeves. The bells she carries aren’t anything special on their own, but the sounds they make fall easily within her purview, giving her a catalyst noise that she can alter and amplify to sound like pretty much anything she likes. Though none of her skills are specialized for combat, her raw power and versatility still make her a force to be reckoned with in that respect.

Her bird will murder you! You think Wicket’s just some puffed-up little hawk? Think again. This bad boy can do over 300 kph in the air, and has talons so strong they can rip through plate armor like paper if he hits you at full velocity. Mess with the big W, and I guarantee you he will rip your face off and charbroil your ass, or just shit on your favorite possessions the moment you leave them unattended.

As you can probably tell already, Tala’s best suited for light and/or comedic stories. Ideally she’ll have plenty of opportunities to be an absolute dork and screw things up without doing so much harm that she can’t desperately try and fix everything afterwards. I’m hoping that her quest will bring her more in touch with the natural and supernatural side of Sedaia, with the magic and monsters and hidden wonders that few or no living humans have ever gazed upon before. Exploration is good, as is lore and history and anything that gets us deeper into the less-trodden details of the setting and its flora/fauna, all the parts that exist outside of or on the edges of human knowledge and influence.

Otherwise… I don’t actually mind dark stuff? And not everything can be sunshine and roses. So please feel free to drop the hammer on her at least once or twice along the line, if it fits the occasion. I’d actually prefer a sad or bittersweet ending if we reach that point, though animal stories can be easily mined for pathos so let’s try not to get too cliché in that regard. Romance is also super fun, so if anyone makes characters of a similar age then prepare to have them crushed on by goofy bird lady.

5'8, slender but athletic build, dark brown hair, pale skin, and sullen amber eyes. Wears a mixed set of armor emphasizing mobility and an assortment of dark, natural colors, perfect for skulking around wooded lands and underbrush as well as protecting against the rain. Also carries an assortment of different smaller weapons such as a hatchet, an arming sword, and a light pick. He most notably sports a black mask when hunting, made to protect himself from fungal spores and other inhaled threats common to his homeland. Image for reference. Dos.

A roaming, "ranger"-type mercenary. When one would ask about the "Scourge of the Great Swamp," one would receive a variety of different accounts, many of which are heavily exaggerated. One common theme is that he is a monster slayer of no small renown, a local legend to those living in the more remote regions of the Lowlands and a folk tale to others nearby. All of these accounts are unreliable, however, as he leaves just as fast as he arrives. Those who have traveled with him would describe him as rather reserved and quiet, a soft-spoken expert when consulted in matters he specializes in, and turning into "something else" in the throes of battle.

Simply put, Derrick wishes to become a hero. His mother, a powerful and infamous enchantress, had raised him for such a purpose, sending him off as soon as he came of age, having ingrained the young man with that aimless goal in mind. However, Derrick's opinion of "becoming a hero" is incomplete, as he believes this equates to seeking out stronger monsters and slaying them in battle. His current goals are to find such a monster, having grown unsatisfied with the "smaller" threats he normally faces.

As expected of someone raised in the wilder regions of the Lowlands, Derrick is a skilled survivalist, with proficiency in hunting, tracking, gathering, and other skills expected of a Ranger. Derrick is also gifted in more clandestine acts, taking advantage of his smaller frame and his conformity with the woodlands of his home to hone his skills at hiding and moving silently. Derrick is also a skilled trapper, able to make rudimentary snares out of sticks and vines alone, and more deadly traps if given the proper time and resources. Due to being raised in the Indiga Great Swamp, he has a familiarity with many of its flora and fauna, taught to him by his mother.

That said, while Derrick is trained in many practical skills, his weakness is in magic, as he is incapable of using his mana or casting any spells due to a curse placed on him at a young age. To compensate, Derrick has honed his skills with weapons to a degree that rivals that of a trained knight, specializing in smaller arms to complement his role as a skirmisher. However, when compared to a warrior that has received formal training, Derrick's fighting style seems to be more vicious and destructive in nature. While a knight of similar skill would fight in order to "defeat" their opponent, Derrick fights in order to "annihilate" his opponent. In other words, a professional slaughterer. This method of combat shines fully when up against supernatural beings.

For Derrick, I was looking to do something of a deconstruction of a folk hero, as well as the classic Hero's Journey story, using elements from different classic legends (such as being raised by a powerful magic being, slaying monsters, etc.) and hopefully turning all of it over its head. The conclusion was an aloof young man who was raised with high expectations in mind and doing his best to accomplish them without really knowing the meaning behind them. That said, I do have a desire for Derrick to grow out his shell and hopefully learn that there is more to being a hero than slaying every single monster he comes across. Hopefully in the end, Derrick would have received proper rehabilitation from his dubious upbringing. Of course, I'm a fan of tragic endings as much as I am of happy ones, so we'll see what the story has in store in the future~

There are other, more secretive elements to Derrick's growth I already discussed with Yankee previously for the sake of narrative such as the curse that doesn't allow him to cast spells, but I can say that they may involve Derrick's witchy mother making an appearance, among other things. Hopefully the twists and turns I have planned aren't too obvious from the get-go... And of course, I do also want to have cool monster fights every now and then, as expected from those who know me.

Stands at about 5’8”. Lithe build, with some toned muscle in the arms and legs. Tends to wear typical adventuring gear that doesn’t stand out, favoring hooded cloaks with light armor underneath.

Distant, pragmatic, and calm. Is known in the underground for having worked with various thieving guilds at various points in time over the last half-decade, though never even close to a permanent basis. Has a reputation among those in the know for skilled, professional work in several areas of rogue’s work, including thieving, spying, and the occasional assassination.

Born in the slums of Haydrin’s Seat, Kayliss was a parentless urchin for much of her childhood, quickly learning basic thievery simply to survive. That was, until she’d picked the wrong target. Or the right one, depending on the point of view.

The rich man in question she’d tried to pickpocket turned out to be one of the royal spymasters. Not the Royal Spymaster, but certainly working under him. An adolescent slum orphan with decent stealth skills for someone with no training whatsoever was exactly the right kind of person for him to mold into another sneak for the good of the kingdom, and over the next few years, he did so.

Kayliss served with pride as a royal spy for five years, simply happy to be off the streets and be part of something bigger than herself. However, she’d stumbled upon a piece of intrigue far above her pay grade, one that she wasn’t supposed to realize: her spymaster and mentor was subtly working against the kingdom. She didn’t know why, she still doesn’t know why, but what mattered was that her benefactor knew that she knew. Almost immediately, the man ironically declared Kayliss a traitor to the kingdom and set her fellows against her. Kayliss only narrowly escaped with the barest of forewarning, and is now on the run and in hiding, hoping to disappear among the wanderers of Sedaia and figure out what to do with her life now.

Thief’s Work: Sneaking, lockpicking, pickpocketing, you name it, Kayliss has likely been trained in that area or developed the skill herself over the years.

Underworld Knowledge: Part of Kayliss’s job as a royal spy was to embed herself in Sedaia’s underworld, and she did so without question. She has at least a contact or two in a fair number of major trading cities across the realm, and knows the procedures and code to both fit in among the underworld and seek out more help.

Blades: Adept with both the short sword and dagger, Kayliss prefers to use both in a twin-blade fencing style, though she’s also capable of using either weapon solo, whether it be in straight combat or in less honorable work. Her swordsmanship is above average and certainly better than most bandits’, but she doesn’t quite match up to famed knights and other combat monsters in direct battle without the aid of a dishonorable advantage or two.

Marksmanship: While not exactly adept with an actual bow, her aim with a crossbow is more than adequate. She is capable of using the entire range of crossbow types, from a hand crossbow to a heavier, two-handed one for long-range shots.

Wind Magic: Limited knowledge. Primarily used to make sneak attacks and distractions.

Fantasy CIA agent on the run from being cut loose by her own agency. Her journey would center around survival, intrigue, and action. So basically Jason Bourne but with swords and magic.

For character progression, I’d want Kayliss to basically adapt, learn how to trust people, and find a new purpose in her life now that her old one was blown to pieces. I’m pretty fond of dark content within reason, so long as Kayliss is still able to keep going in the adventure, but light content to balance it out is also needed.

Jason is tall and lean, standing at exactly six feet tall. He does a lot of time doing physical labor on his family’s farm, and while he is not as big as his dad is, he still has a slender build with defined muscles that he is proud to show off. He spends plenty of time out in the sun, and thus has a tanned skin complexion. He has a boyish face, though he still possesses a firm jaw. He has a small nose, and large, expressive almond shaped eyes, which are a bright electric blue color. He has short dirty blonde hair which is always a mess, and frankly he likes it that way.

He dresses fairly simply. His family isn’t rich, so they don’t have nice clothes. Besides, fancy outfits are impractical for farmers anyway. To be honest, he spends most of his time shirtless. He’s seen books with pictures of how mages dress, and adapted the style to suit his own tastes. He wears a sleeveless light blue hooded cloak. He leaves it open all the time revealing his chest and abs. As bottoms he wears a pair of matching blue pants, that are held up by a beige belt. As footwear he wears a pair of sturdy beige boots that are comfortable to walk around and work in.

Jason is a farmer. He is often seen selling stuff at the local market, and does plenty of work on his family’s farm. He actually doesn’t hate farm work. It’s exhausting work yes, but at the end of the day there is nothing more satisfying than a job well done.

Jason has a fascination with magic. He greatly appreciates good displays of magical power. It started as a curiosity about the subject. Ever since the disappearance of his brother, it grew into a desire to gain power for his own needs.

Jason is brave, daring, and extremely determined. He can be very impatient, wanting to get stuff done as soon as possible. As such, he will often charge straight into danger, and often prefers to zap first and ask questions later. As such, he can be reckless and get himself into danger if he thinks he is right. Jason is also very blunt. He says exactly what he thinks no matter who he hurts. He lacks patience for people he deems to be slow.

Jason can be very stubborn, and it’s difficult to get him to admit when he’s wrong about something. He can also be hostile to people who have different opinions than him. He doesn’t like to accept help for things he knows he can do on his own. He’s confident in his own skills, and believes he can handle his own problems himself. The upside to this though, he doesn’t give up easily when things get hard. He also has no problems giving help to others when they need it.

Lightning Magic: Jason has an affinity for Lightning magic. He can summon lightning for various purposes. Including shhoting electricity out of his hands, and delivering lightning punches.

Farmer Skills: Jason is familar with all the ins and outs of running a farm. Planting and tending to crops, raising livestock, etc.

Cooking: Jason has learned how to prepare the food he grows on the farm.

Hoe: When magic doesn’t work, Jason whacks enemies with a farming hoe. Not as potent as an actual weapon, but it does hurt!

Jason was born in to an average family in the croplands. The family worked on a farm. His father did all the physical labor that running a farm involves, his mother sold the stuff they produced on the farm at the market as well as ran the home, and Jason and his twin brother, William were expected to help out around the farm. They lived a fairly average life. Jason and his twin brother were very close. The two played together all the time, and got along great. They rarely fought, and when they did have a disagreement, they made up fairly quickly. Jason’s parents hated magic. They believed that relying on a dangerous and unpredictable force could lead to nothing but trouble. For a while, the brothers shared those feelings.

While the boys were playing one day, away from the eyes of their parents. In their playing, William got hurt. He tried diving into a lake, and ended up cutting himself on a rock. Jason panicked. His brother was hurt, he had no idea how to make him not hurt anymore, and more importantly he didn’t want to have to tell his parents that his sibling got hurt on his watch. Fortunately for them, an older gentleman happened to be passing through. He saw what happened, and helped out. The man was a doctor. He used mysterious magic and his own medical knowledge to fix the boy right up. After that, the boy’s opinions on magic changed.

Life continued on after that, but now something was different. Now Jason was fascinated with magic. It had saved his brother, and now he was curious about what other things it could do. Whenever he had free time away from doing farm chores, Jason did all he could to learn about magic. He read every book on the subject he could get his hands on, and at night would practice spells. He wanted to learn the mysterious magic that man used, but at some point discovered he had more of an affinity for lightning magic, and soon changed course. He wasn’t sure what he was going to do with this power, but it was still cool all the same.

At some point, William left to go on his own journey. He wanted to become a knight, and help out his country. Jason stayed behind to help out on the farm. For a while the brothers exchanged letters. Then, the communication stopped. Now, Jason is going on an adventure to find out what happened to his brother, and possibly learn more about magic in the process.

So spoiler alert, Jason’s brother is dead. No idea how he died, but he’s dead. Eventually Jason will find that out, and be very upset about it.

Jason has spent years studying magic. He learns from reading books on the subject, and practicing himself. He would like to find a teacher to train him however as there is only so much he can do on his own.

Otherwise, all I’m looking for is character development for Jason.

Since you said no bigoted characters, I would like to point out that Jason is Bisexual. :P Unless he develops a crush on a guy in the RP, it probably won’t come up though.
