Bio: Youngest of 4, the age gap between him and his siblings is a bit...extensive. His sister is three years older than him, but his two brothers are seven and ten years older than him. Kevin spent a lot of time feeling like the forgotten youngest, the child that his siblings hated having to play with as he got older because they were well outpacing him. It left him figuring out his own games and interests and developing a healthy imagination to go with it.
Going into school, he kept mostly to himself and never really tried to make friends. He did okay in school, but it was clear he never was really pushing himself - maintaining a B average with little problem. So his parents decided to ship him to Aistri Academy, in hopes it might help him find a drive. It only helped him find a place he fits in more - where he doesn't have to really socialize with anyone and can just be left to his own devices.

As he grew, his mother took care of him and his sister to the best of her ability. As later on, when Ismael was 6 his mother met Freddie, and married quite quickly. With both of them being working class people they worked hard, so their kids wouldn't need to struggle.
As when Ismael first entered school he had a hard time making friends so he found himself enthralled with books. Creeping towards fantasy genres as they allowed him to see adventures and worlds he would never see. Meet friends in a book that he would have never met and become anything he wishes.
As Ismael grew he became more out going, wishing to expand his horizons and wanting to see more, read more, and eventually a spark came to his heart. He wished to write a story that he is proud of. So he dedicated himself to his work, learning from mythologies, why they worked. Then from folk tales, why did they survived. Then from the idea of fantasy. He learned quickly of his love for language, as within language hides deeper complexity and understanding translations don't give you.
As Ismael grew he found himself spreading his love to others, now having it leech into his normal life as he began his journey to become a writer. As he worked his ass of to just get the ability to just have his family accept him and his path. All he has to do is take those steps forward.

History: Going from a large school in a densely packed city to an academy in the middle of a tiny island was far from what Hyun-woo predicted when he first thought about what he wanted for his future. Though his parents had already chosen a rigorous academy known for the best research programs conveniently located a short distance away from home, Hyun-woo's own personal search for other options continued behind their backs. The idea of staying put in one spot seemed suffocating beyond belief. Granted, going to an island probably seemed counter-intuitive, but the freedom that Aistri Academy's curriculum was far too tempting to pass up. Drawn to the reputation the academy had, Hyun-woo sent in an application, got accepted, and consequently suffered through several lectures from his parents before leaving to fulfill his constant need for a challenge.
After quite a bit of deliberation that ultimately led him in circles, Hyun-woo ended up impulsively joining the first club he saw. In hindsight, this decision probably wasn't one of his smartest since his future at the academy essentially depended on the club he chose, but it seemed to work out perfectly fine at first. After all, he quickly made friends with the some of the newer members, tolerated the older ones, and surprisingly enjoyed his time there a lot more than he'd expected. Alas, it was only once the excitement of being in the club wore off and he'd been there long enough to actually truly get to know some of the members that he realized he'd made a terrible mistake. Frequent bickering eventually leading to a blown fuse resulted in Hyun-woo's rather dramatic departure from the club which, should anyone bring the incident up, would most likely cause him to blush in embarrassment. Left only with burnt bridges, Hyun-woo set out to look for another club to. In a split-second decision similar to the one he'd made while deciding which club to join when he first came to Aistri, Hyun-woo found himself signing up for the Writing Club without a second thought after a flyer caught his eye, determined to find a new home to settle into.
Dream: Rather than having a goal to strive towards, Hyun-woo's spurred on more by the thought of failing, whether in something as simple as a game or in his future career. Hyun-woo craves acknowledgement, believing that any efforts that go unnoticed are ultimately wasted.
Name: Micha Corinson (Call him Mike and he'll probably deck you)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Genre: Poetry and Flash Fiction
Likes: -Butterscotch -Pens -Thunderstorms -Sleeping under a shady tree -His little brother
Dislikes: -Being here -His adoptive parents -People who thrive off drama -People who try to have a monopoly on attention -Entitled people.
Fears: -Losing his brother -Being stuck here -Enclosed spaces -Fire.
History: Born to two parent in a low-rent neighborhood, Micha lived what he would call a normal life: His parents were always working so he got left with the neighbor kid next door, and school was boring and full of bullies. But he always showed them that he wasn't the one to get bullied; by the time his brother Boaz was born when he was thirteen, Micha had been home more often on suspension than he had been at school. He was fine with that though, because it meant he could now stay home with his baby brother and his parents- who were never much one for the idea of school in the first place- could keep working so they wouldn't get evicted. Boaz was now his everything and he couldn't be happier.
It worked well for a little over a year and half until he was woken to his own coughing, smoke filling his lungs. He didn't think, just grabbed his baby brother from his side of the small bedroom and went right out his window. His neighbors were out and checking on them, asking where their parents were, but he couldn't say. Turns out they never made it out and by the time the police and fire department arrived he heard his older neighbors whispering, talking about what a shame it was the brothers would be broken up by the system. So..he ran.
He spent two and a half years on the street fending for him and his brother before they were caught. Their co-dependency at that point was more than obvious and the social worker declared it detrimental to their mental health to split them up, so they were adopted off as a package deal. Too bad the rich couple that adopted them only really wanted the cute four year old Boaz and not the reserved, keen eyed seventeen year old that got lumped in.
He spent the next year or so being locked in the smallest bedroom and writing poems and stories to pass the time while his adoptive parents took Boaz out to flaunt to the world. Whenever they returned he was let out to entertain his brother and he would read him his short stories and poems.
When Boaz began to get unruly upon realizing how his big brother was getting treated, suddenly Micha was enlisted in a special private school far away where he could work on his talents. Both boys threw a fit over this, not wanting to be any more separated than the parents were already making them, but against his wishes Micha was shipped off to Aistri.
Dream: To get enough done here that once he gets out he can just grab Boaz and get the fuck out.
"Last night I got ab-so-lute-ly nothing done! Totally chuffed about that, really."
Name: Yvonne Shen
Color: 00a651
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Height: 154cm
Genre: Her proclivities make her a good fit for tragicomedy or magical realism, but she does want to one day write her own epic fantasy novel.
Likes: - Supposedly writing - Baseball (she's surprisingly skilled at it, for somebody who only plays irregularly) - Greek cuisine - Explicit deadlines - Pop music - Casual games - "Procrastination"
Fear(s): - Abandonment - Lack of success - Disappointing others and letting them down - Being forgotten
History: For quite a few years, Yvonne had been nothing more than a listless, aimless teenager - little more than somebody going through the motions of living (no matter how upbeat her demeanor appeared). She had lost sight of most of her goals from her childhood, and had little motivation to really pursue any of her passions, if she remembered what they were. She wanted to chase them, she really did, but she just couldn't find the energy or the will to do more than the bare minimum. She found herself abandoning so much that she once loved, leaving it by the wayside so she could concentrate on the things that everybody told her were more important.
Go to school. Study hard. Get into a good university. Get a good job. Settle down.
Things like that. Task after task. Responsibility after responsibility. Vague goals instilled in her by her environment, goals that she barely had any idea on how to achieve. But she blindly followed after them, day after day working towards these arbitrary expectations, and everything she really was passionate about ... she simply just gave up on. On the surface, Yvonne may not have seemed particularly apathetic to her life, but inside, there was little in the way of things to smile about. She didn't hate her life, but she just ... didn't care enough.
And she told herself that she simply couldn't do anything about it.
It was really Aistri Academy that changed that. She applied on a whim, maybe because somebody mentioned it briefly, or because she simply saw its name online somewhere. But it was just enough to shake her out of her funk ... just a little. The idea of focusing simply on a club that interested her ... it was appealing, and soon she found herself shipped out to the isolated island. And of course, she joined the Writing Club. Because even as she gave up on so much that she loved, she at least continued to write.
Or at least, tried to write. Her folders were full of half-finished WIPs. Half-baked plans scattered across her social media. But it was something she had honestly tried to stick with (likely because of the lower barrier of entry). And so, she dropped herself into the Writing Club, hoping that it would be the panacea - or at least enough motivation - for her to overcome her woes.
If she were to be honest with herself, her expectations for such are rather low. She was a chronic procrastinator, after all. Yet, she would try anyway. The tiniest rebellion against the self-imposed apathy, done with a bright smile.
Because it was better than doing nothing.
Dream: Asking Yvonne to state her dream is easier said than done, given how lost and untethered she's become in recent years. She only has vague ideas of her future - once, she wanted to be a famous author, but these days she has little faith in her ability to do so (even as she continues to cling hopelessly to the few things she enjoys). Thus, she finds her dream to be uncertain and out of reach, but at the same time ... it can be quite clear that she enjoys being able to entertain people, at least.
Maybe one day she can do something interesting for others. Something entirely hers. Something that they won't forget.

Name: Naoko Kobayashi Age: 18 Gender: Female Genre: "Uhhhh... I don't think I have any, but I do have experience in summarizing stuff into a report! I used to handle paperwork when I was in my previous high school, so I know how to write an article, or a report..."
Likes:
Dairy Products: Naoko has a noticeable preference towards dairy products, namely Carupisu sodas, UHT milk, and yogurts.
Music: Whenever she needs to do paperwork, or writing an article, music is Naoko's best friend. She prefers the mellow tunes from citypop, and instrumentals. Naoko listens her music through a 2006 Aiwa HP-MH170 wired earbud, driven from her ELG V40 smartphone. Noise leak-free assured, as she is not the type to tune herself out from the world.
Technology: Naoko is somewhat a geek, as one can see from her mechanical keyboard that she constantly lugs around, the smartphone that she uses, and the pair of earbuds which can be considered as ancient for today's standards.
Windowshopping: She spends an absurd amount of time windowshopping, where half of the time was spent researching on the products Naoko was windowshopping on.
Pen Spinning: Naoko does it quite often whenever she needs to stop and think. It is also a way for her to focus, and to entertain herself, if she is not in a mood for music.
Dislikes:
Cheap keyboards: Naoko usually brings her own 60% mechanical keyboard for work, as she is unable to stand the low grade membrane keyboards on her laptop, and anywhere else unless otherwise.
Cheap stationery: "Using cheap stationery is just plain asking to get yourself in a trouble. All those 'Oh no, my pen ink went out during an exam!' can be avoided if you use a good, refillable pen, and of course, bring extra pens! What can go wrong, will go wrong!"
Being pranked on: Naoko joining the Writing Club is one of the solid reasons that she disliked being pranked upon.
People picking on her stature: "Would you please stop calling me short? I already drank a lot of milk!"
Fear(s):
Losing her mechanical keyboard: Naoko's custom sakura Tofu DZ60 with Silent Sky switches is her livelihood, her tool to survive in Aistri Academy. Take that away from her, and she will do whatever it takes to get it back. Or fixed.
History:
Born in a middle class family with 2 other siblings, Naoko is the youngest one in the family. She inherited her siblings' geekiness when it comes to technology, as they are computer science graduates. She was not interested in programming or anything related to software development, however.
Her life was mostly smooth sailing, or even peaceful compared to the other group members in the Writing Club. When Naoko reached high school, a series of events (and dares) landed her a role in the Fujioka Senior High Student Council as the secretary. As a result, she was forced to learn on writing formal letters, drafting reports, and jotting down meeting minutes, either with a keyboard or a pen.
It was a hectic life, save for summer holidays and the Golden Week. Naoko's hard work was finally paid off, as she scored high in her extracurricular activities. Unfortunately, her academics were on the average side. Despite her mixed academic results, Naoko enrolled to both national, and private colleges.
Unfortunately, Aistri Academy was the only one that accepted her submission. At first, she was skeptical of this institution. Who is on their right mind studying on an island of nowhere? Then again, Naoko could not bear the thoughts of retaking the national college entrance exam, just to get another shot on famous institutions like Waseda University.
She eventually took the Aistri offer, thinking on the grounds that she can leave once she was done with their associate's degree, and back into her hometown to pursue a bachelor's degree of her choice. As for how Naoko joined the Writing Club, it was a prank by her fellow coursemates by wrongly submitting her form to Jing. It was speculated that her typing speed was the cause of the prank, thinking that she is more suitable to be in the Writing Club, compared to the other clubs.
Dream: To graduate from Aistri Academy, get a bachelor's degree back home, and finally get a decent job. Well, Naoko is not the ambitious type, y'know?

Full Name: Annette Lea Fournier Nickname(s): Annie Gender: Female
Age: 17 years old Birthday: February 2nd
Height: 160 cm (or 5'3). Weight: 54 kg (or roughly 118 lbs).
Nationality: Canadian Hometown: Carlyle, Saskatchewan, Canada. Language(s): English, very little French.
Color Hex: #82CAFA (Light Sky Blue)
Genre: Dystopian, horror, crime, thrillers. Annie enjoys any literature that contains some level of violence and/or psychological exploration into the human psyche. Although she has only ever completed short stories that have never seen the light of publication, Annie hopes to someday finish a novel of her own. She once partook in NaNoWriMo only to fall short by several thousand words.
Biography: Annette has always struggled with words. Poor literacy and communication skills as a child left her susceptible to many taunts from classmates. Spite later pushed her to new heights of improvement. Instead of simply settling for "good enough" through personal tutoring sessions, Annie was determined to stomp her tormentors into the ground through her own very own weakness: waxing words. She eventually found solace online through various online writing communities while raising her grades at the same time.
Her acceptance into Aistri Academy came not too long after. It took considerable effort to convince her parents, however, they folded with enough consistent begging persuasion. For someone who had found so much self-worth through literature, it should have been a surprise to none that Annette was eventually drawn towards the Writing Club. This is where she hopes to spend the remainder of her school years jotting away horrific short stories and possibly bonding with others over it.
Likes:
Fanfiction of her favorite fandoms. She reads these as her "guilty pleasure".
Food. Annie hates sharing food and prefers either sweet or slightly spicy meals.
Coffee. Black, some milk, a little sugar. She usually needs it for early mornings.
Video games. She's a fan of JRPGs, turn-based strategy games, and farming simulations.
Anime and manga. Her preferred genres are dystopian, mystery, horror, and the occasional shounen.
Movies. Her favorite genres include "so bad that it's good", mysteries, and cliché slasher films that were released in the 1980s.
Dislikes:
Astrology. She finds it to be childish, unrealistic, and holds little belief in it.
Poetry. She dabbled with it once out of curiosity only to abandon it almost immediately.
Hot weather. Summer tends to be Annie's least favorite season thanks to her hatred of humidity and the heat.
Her own handwriting. She prefers to write through computers as she finds her own writing to be sloppy and incomprehensible.
The end of any good story. Annie is always disappointed whenever she finishes anything whether it be an anime, video game, or book.
Fear(s):
Confrontation. She hates approaching people regardless her reasoning.
Procrastination. The idea of failure and missing deadlines frightens Annie.
Public speaking. Who enjoys that? Annie is too much of a shut-in to speak in front of an audience.
Cockroaches. Not only does Annie find them to be disgusting, she also finds them to be difficult to kill.
Ghosts. Annie considers herself to be a somewhat practical and realistic person that only really fears "the unknown".
Dream(s):
To travel the world. Living in a small town for the first sixteen years of your life leaves a lot to be desired.
Rule the world. This probably isn't realistic, however, so she supposes that she'll just settle for getting married instead.
To publish a novel. Annie would prefer to push out one related to horror or dystopia, but she'll settle for anything at this point.
I walk the streets at night, With monsters in my mind. They say, "You best be quiet", I like it, I like it, No, I won't shut my mouth. That's not what I'm about, You know I built this house. I like it, like it, So boom, check one, check one, two, three. Is anybody here listening? Hear me now, hear me now, Ooh-la-la, the world's on fire.
Other:
Annie has dyslexia and ADD to some degree.
Annie prefers to use pens or mechanical pencils.
Annie's favorite holiday is Halloween though she rarely has an opportunity to celebrate.
Name: Alexander Kardashev Aliases: Sasha, Lemons, Kardashian, Sleepyhead, Coffee Maniac, Food Source, Comrade Height: 5'9" Weight: 76 kgs Birthday: September 8 Blood Type: O Languages: English, Russian, Finnish, Kartvelian Birth Place: Moscow, Russia
Age: 18
Gender: A Man
Genre: Science Fiction/Documentary
Habits: > When writing out dialogues he often talks to himself. > He laughs loudly. And then cackles, and then gasps and coughs. > Alexander almost always has a cup of Starbucks while writing. > Likes to cuddle. Quite a bit. > He's a hand holder. So...
Likes: > Fluffy animals (cats, dogs, foxes, ferrets, minks, otters) > Pizza > Pasta > Starbucks Coffee > Boba > Your love > Your affection > The cold
Dislikes: > Pineapple on pizza > Degeneracy > Insectoid things > Communism > Being labeled with stereotypes
Fear(s): > The desert > Heart attack > Blood
History: Alexander's origins are very sketchy, as it is not something he really tells anyone else in the school. He was an abandoned infant when his "parents" found him. Sasha was left on the side of a street in the downtown area of Moscow during a rather bad winter, seemingly abandoned to the cold embrace of death by whoever had decided that he was not worth raising. However, it just happened that he was placed at the doorstep of a childless couple that were desperate for a kid at the time. Katyuha and Andrey Kardashev found this crying child upon returning home from a grocery run. He was cold, but other than that, Sasha was unharmed.
He was, as his adopted parents said, a blessing. Sasha grew up with the same passions as his mother, who was a journalist for the Moscow Times, and took upon himself to be an avid reader. He would have a younger sister named Shatalina, who was also adopted as Katyusha was infertile. Alexander treasured his sister very much and they are quite close to this day.
At school, he was known to have a delicate balance in personality. Sure, he was a little awkward when talking with someone for the first time, but he opens up pretty quickly and has no shortage of friends, though he always had this inner circle that he trusted the most.
The time soon came when he would come to the same school that his mother graduated from. How grand indeed were her stories of their club. The glory that the Writing Club possessed was some of the greatest since those halcyon days… and now, the shock of finding the club in utter disrepair in direct contrast to his mom's stories. Still, Sasha will not give up just because of this. If anything, this is a challenge to overcome, and he likes challenges!
Dream: > To make a living out of writing > Be a respectable journalist > Find love

History: Haruka is pretty much a normal girl born within a rather normal family of athletes. Her mom was a tracks athlete that won some good medals in the Olympics while her father is a popular wrestler touring all over the world. Which is pretty much why Haruka seems to have a natural affinity in athletics. She even involved in managing her school's Football club during her Junior High and Senior High days. She really does seems like a normal sporty girl who seems to be popular with the dudes and such.
But she actually wants to join her father. She can do any sports but her heart is on Wrestling. But despite her stellar sports achievement, apparently her academic scores are less than appealing for prestigious colleges to put her on scholarship. In exception to Aistri, which Haruka felt not so inclined on going to since it's so far in some random island that she don't even know where. But her parents are cheapskates, so they easily encourages Haruka to take that scholarship.
As she came onto Aistri however, most of the sports clubs wouldn't take her in since there's some other girls more popular or more knowledgeable than her to be the club's manager. Then Haruka came on to see the Writing club, she guessed she could sharpen up her writing skills to write up good wrestling story or what not. Despite how unappealing the club looks... Haruka chose to join the Writing Club, wondering what sorts of shenanigans she'd be facing going on forward.
