Ari Reina Caladis(Theresa)

Was there any reason for hesitation? Aside from dropping into a gunk filled sewage river and having her nose shrivel up and fall off her face?

Looking around, and noting the direction of where she came from, and the alignment of the drain, Ari used the few feet of rope she had to wedge the monkey's fist into a deformation on the sidewalk. With a confidence reserved only for the foolhardy, she didn't so much jump as turn around and pushed herself out from the edge, using the rope to hopefully swing into the opening.

Lady of the Alabaster Scales? Lew stroked his chin as he thought of the ramifications of joining an in-game religion. He didn't think too much of it in the end, however. If this way of life should inhibit his time in the game, the easiest thing to do is to just not play it anymore. That said, there is one thing he needed to know before he joined this group in full...

"Lugh Dysphoria." Lew stated his in-game name aloud. "I must ask, though, before we begin... What does the Lady of the Alabaster Scales think about monstrous beings, those both near and far from human?"

In any case, Lew awaited the beginning of his training as well as any purchases he needed to make. A staff and possibly some sort of talisman would be ideal, although Lew wondered if talismans worked like ammunition. Would he only be able to buy a few single-use ones, or is it like Raymond's crossbow, capable of being utilized in a generic matter indefinitely?

Amulak al Acturus (Stanislaw)
HP:173/200 MP:214/250 SP: 50/50

Oh god, oh fuck, Raime just got annihilated. Ames and Klein got practically shoved out of the way, and now the frogman was coming for Amulak-

Oh, whew. Another superpower unlocked, and just in time to save his ass. Hopefully, Amulak would get his soon. But for now, he was content simply not getting his shit kicked in by a pissed-off bipedal frog. Really, he couldn't keep getting away with it.

Unfortunately, that meant the boss was now making a beeline straight for an already-injured Mags. Still, that gave him an idea. Internally bemoaning his lack of spells and variety at such a low level, Amulak pumped his Magic Bolt with Mana Control yet fucking again, aiming straight for the frogman's back and firing it off. If it got his attention, hopefully it'd result in some sort of aggro ping-pong as people kept continually assaulting the boss from behind from every direction. Or it'd just piss the boss AI off and train all the aggro onto Amulak himself. He didn't know how threat worked yet in this game, after all. But hell, he'd take the risk. Shit wasn't fun without going balls-deep in chances.

Klein

He needs to breathe, that is what his brain said to him when Klein felt that kick in his throat. And although it was only happening in mere seconds and in a simulation no less, the suffocation was sudden enough to force Klein to let go of the frogman, dropping his spear in the process while choking for air. Such a weird experience. To both gasp and to scratch your throat. To open your mouth like a fish. To be a fish on dry land.

But still, he had it better than some of his subordinates. Turning to his right side, where a guy with his whole face sunken inside his skull, Klein couldn't help but grimace at how... real the injuries looks like. His broken and lack of cartilage nose. The golfball size eyes. The unnaturalness of his upper jaw, how sunken it is. Even as a fan of gore and blood, Klein couldn't help but shuddered at the sight, the only way he can express his sympathy.

"Take a rest ok?" Klein said, patting his friend's still shoulder before picking up his spear and take another charge at the frogman. This time, he aimed at the wounds he dealt not so long ago.

He is probably gonna fail.

They are probably gonna all die.

But good mental change lives, Klein reminded himself before picking up pace, charging toward the frogman.

Crack! The frogman's rubbery heel connected with the side of Ames' face. The warrior leaned into the blow, letting the momentum spin him out of further harm's way, the fluid action once again the result of the game's settings. Ames swiped her knuckles over her jaw, deeming it to be a glancing blow. Sometimes it was hard to tell with the reduced pain, although after everything that already happened to her in the game she wouldn't dream of raising it even a single percentage higher.

Speaking of pain settings, their ranger looked to be absolutely ass blasted. Where Klein offered the man a sympathetic gesture and quickly moved on, Ames spent a little more time beside Raime who was actually the closest to dying. It was either that, or continue chasing after that damn frog anyway.

"Hey, you alright?" she asked Raime, even though it was pretty clear he wasn't. "Unless one of those weeds can heal your HP, maybe don't stuff your face with them? And - " the redhead paused to check the man's user settings, " - Jesus, you're playing on 100%? Turn it down! At least turn it down for now so you can walk away before you bite the dust! You don't have any broken bones, right?" Besides your nose maybe! Ames prodded at Raime's legs, making sure they were in working order. When first starting the CaCo, Ames had mostly gone in totally blind. She had no idea what happened after death. What if the game forced you to make a new character, building on it's realism? That would totally suck! She didn't want anyone to have to start over, even this early on. "I'm serious, don't let pride make you stupid, okay? You still got your crossbow, so shoot it from a safe distance or something." Yes, the frog could catch bolts, but not every single one, every single time, right?

Ames left the broken scout on the ground to his own devices, only hoping he took her advice as she moved to rejoin the battle. Somehow, Mags summoned shimmering blue waters around herself. The frog was closing in on her from the air, and Magpie was rushing to meet it. That could easily go terribly for her, so the other party members should be around just in case. The group didn't have any strategy whatsoever besides mindlessly wail on the frogman, but it was working at least a little bit. No reason to stop now, not until someone came up with a better idea. So Ames circled the crystal waters, looking for any opening to dive in and strike the enemy.

It was a confidence reserved for the foolhardy and the rational. The drop may have been into sewer water, but the drop itself wasn’t that deep, and none of this would carry over into real life anyways. No pressure, and no problem. With an acrobat’s grace and poise, Ari slipped into the sewers, the residents above her none the wiser.

The smell within the cramped tunnel was of old earth and stone, mold and refuse, tickling her nostrils as she took her bearings. No light shone within; the darkness threatened to swallow her whole if she continued to go down it. The sounds that she heard, however, were rich and many. The flowing of water, the splatting of falling objects, the skittering of insects, the squealing of vermin. She could feel it too, the rushing of air, the hollow echoes of a sewer system that perhaps covered the entirety of Nyu-Taro. And with the wind, carried voices. Human, perhaps. Barely audible, bright notes of laughter bouncing off the old stone walls.

There was a connection, perhaps, amongst the claustrophobic tunnels of the sewers to the den of the Tsi-Lai Gang. But to do so, Ari would have to brave these dark depths alone, blind.

Would she?
@Greengoat

“It is a pleasure to receive your devotion then, Lugh Dysphoria. I am Shirin Bihe, a worshipper and an ordinary woman.” The blue-haired priestess bowed her head once more, her eyes only widening slightly at the curious question he posed. After a couple moments of careful contemplation, she spoke up again. “You Immortals do have some interesting concerns, don’t you? Monsters are not judged by how closely they resemble humankind, but rather whether or not they are capable of the same intellectual processes granted onto us. I cannot speak in place of a deity, but many congregations around Horogi are welcoming of the monstrous devoted. And let it not be left unsaid, that our own Fair Lady oft descends upon this world as a pale scaled serpent.”

With the former warrior seemingly satisfied, Shirin turned to head into the Shin-Yu Temple, taking off her sandals as she stepped up into the building. The interior of the temple smelled of a bright, almost citrus-y aroma, and the polished wood that formed the supporting pillars of the structure was bright yellow, reflecting well the sunlight that diffused from the paper windows. Nightingale floorboards creaked melodically under foot as they moved down the hallway, passing by several rooms filled with chanting adherents. They arrived, finally, at an open-air chamber, the floor transitioning into veinless marble. In the back of the chamber stood the weather-worn statue of a lithe woman. Though a seamless, indisctinct beauty from waist-up, her lower body flowed sinuously into the marbled ground in the image, perhaps, of a flowing river, a twisted tree, a snake’s tail.

Even in perpetual stillness, she embodied motion, an incarnation of the eternal wind and waves.

“Kneel before her,” Shirin instructed, her voice distant in Lugh’s ears even though she stood beside him. There was something different about this room, something consecrated and sacred. “Your tutelage begins when you close your eyes.”

And when he did, lightning scored the synapse of his virtual brain, painfully beautiful.

The dynamics of the spring wind, the ceaseless flow of the mountain streams, the transitioning of all states, like the shimmering of light upon scales so pure, yet containing such myriad of colors within! Was it not invisible light, that transitioned into the shades of color that one’s eyes could glean afterwards? Was it not a millennia of bloodbirth that brought him where he was now? The world was formed of such precious, unseen blessings, each insignificant slice placed together to form a tapestry beyond compare, too large to ever fully appreciate, but awe-inspiring all the same. To eschew from such a cycle was sacrilege. To desire ascendance was mortal ignorance. They were all of the dust of deities, every one of them placed to fulfil their heart’s purpose. Obligations and restraint, duty and law, all the ignorance of man, extolling virtues that turned one’s gaze away from the Lady of the Alabaster Scales.

In one’s freedom, one could truly become themselves, shedding their faults like old skins, transitioning from one form to another like the world around them. Pursue your desires. Walk your own path. Make a mark upon this world, and grant that same courage to others as repressed as you once were.

“Nan seira to men. As the Serpent wills.

When Lugh opened his eyes once more, was he still the same?
@Cu Chulainn

The impact didn’t even phase her.

Even as 57 points of damage tore a chunk into her HP bar, even as her arms felt like someone whipped them with a yard stick, even as a shockwave burst out the other side of her arms, Magpie didn’t move an inch. She was stalwart now, and everything, no matter how brutalized her health points were, was lightweight. And in the position of a flying kick, the frogman had no way to stop what was going to happen next.

The spectral crowds went apeshit as Magpie locked onto the frogman’s arm, slamming him into the waters below. Salty froth burst upwards at the terrific impact, but the frogman protected his own vitals with his arms, transitioning into a handstand. Magpie’s strength wasn’t enough to control his body, but the frogman himself couldn’t bypass the supernatural abilities granted to her by her Nuclei. They were at a standstill, locked in place by incompatible capabilities.

Then, the frogman’s second foot began to glow, a controlled phenomenon that crackled with mystical energies potent enough to send Raime flying even on an indirect hit. If Magpie ceded ground here, she would be out of her Territory, and the frogman would be free to move as he pleased. But if she received such an attack at point blank range…could she even survive that?

Thankfully, good mental changed lives. Just sometimes, it wasn’t your own.

Charging tenaciously towards the frogman, Klein’s agility afforded him a realm of speed that was only human. Even as he saw the webbed foot glow, even as he saw the leg coil back like the hammer of a gun, he couldn’t stop now. It was always all-in, and within the party, he was the only Immortal that was truly undying! Practically skidding on the sandstone dance floor of Magpie’s Territory, the barbaric beefcake slammed his spear as deep into the frogman as he could, before the empowered kick lashed out, inadvertently kicking him in the jaw.

All that energy burst out, not at Magpie, but at Klein instead, a thunderous boom pushing against the charging Ames before a two meter tall, musclebound man of a man flew fifty meters straight up into the air, his form first a silhouette against the sun.
And then, he was a second light in the sky, wreathed once more in brilliant flame, the vengeful spirit that cloaked him granting the Immortal a full 120 HP to shield himself with as he flew down towards the earth.

The frogman chortled, the skin of his jaw expanding outwards into a bemused, or perhaps impressed ribbit. Another Magic Bolt slammed into his body, scoring another mark as Amulak continued to fire away, consistently dealing damage at a safe distance. The impact of this strike, however, was the extra accelerant the frogman needed. Slime secreted from his pores once more as he slipped out of Magpie’s grasp, springing into a full handstand. It was an unstable position still, and the opening that Ames was looking for. The red-haired warrior’s collaborations had been on-point so far, and with fist clenched, he leapt in once more, system-guided movements kicking to go for a low kick on the frogman’s arm.

It was an optimal move. It was also a predictable move.

As Ames moved close, the frogman’s legs swung down, catching him on the shoulders before crossing behind him. With a feat of nigh-impossible physical ability, the warrior was dragged off his feet, his face slammed into the hard stone and buried under the salty water as the frogman formed a bridge with his body. The sudden turnaround dealt 31 damage to Ames, but it was what was coming after that boded worse for him.

Klein, aflame, spear-wielding, and absolutely massive, was falling straight down, after all.

Straight down, from above Ames.

...

Though it was an odd sensation, chewing on something with just your bloodied gums, once again, the pain that terrorized Raime's mind dissipated, leaving only a strange sensation of 'stuffiness'. The scout could rise up again, and he could see again. But after all this pain, was it even worth it to keep going? The tranquility he felt back in Mei Rei Tan seemed like a whole other game, a whole other world, compared to the chaotic, bloody affair before him.

What even drove him on at this point, to shatter his psyche over and over again in the face of such incredible pain?

He would have thanked Klein and Ames for their concern for him but all he could muster while he was chewing the herb was an uneven bob of his head and a weak arm gesture trying to reassure them somewhat. Ames' outburst regarding his settings garnered a rough and strained titter that was rather short-lived as he had to focus on chewing on the herb. He kept chewing for a handful of seconds as the choking pain he felt turned into a feeling of a rather severe case of nasal congestion. Once again, he has been pulled away from the depths of agony by consuming the helpful little herb. Despite it being only temporary relief. He was thankful to have collected the herbs while eating wild corndogs.

Raime stood up from his position and witnessed the party's desperate struggle. Despite the painfully obvious gap in their collective might compared to their opponent's, they still persisted and kept going. Seeing his friends give their one hundred percent and beyond was enough to silence any doubts that whispered in his ear.

Who was he to not give his all while everyone else did? For Chrissake, he was a goddamn Moreno. Persistence and tenacity ran in their fucking blood!

He picks up his crossbow from the bloodied grass and takes an optimal position close enough to the party so the frogman wouldn't single him out again, but not too far for it to have ample time to react to the bolt going over a forty meters a second. The man would also only make opportunity attacks when the frogman is distracted to increase the likelihood of it actually dealing damage and decreasing its chances of dodging or snatching bolt mid-flight even lower.

Ari Reina Caladis(Theresa)

She shook off the monkey fist off the sidewalk above, and rewound it around her arm, squinting into the darkness of the culvert beyond. Ari already knew of the general direction of the hideout, but getting there wouldn't be easy in the darkness. Well, it was sure to become more bearable once her eyes got used to the low light, but she suspected she was going to need to rely on her other senses to determine her directions.

It was exciting enough that fact she might be standing in a rivulet of waste was more bearable to think of. Perhaps not being able to see very well was a blessing in disguise.

She remembered well the atmosphere of the den she was going to infiltrate, the raucous laughter, the jeerings and swears as money changed hands. All she had to do was listen to it to see if she was going in the right direction, keep her sense of direction straight, and not get lost. At least she knew how to escape if she was lost; just stick a hand in the flowing water if it came to that and follow the flow. Ignoring the weird slippery squelchy feeling the floor had, Ari moved briskly towards her goal, careful not to cause more noise than the flow of water did.

Lew nodded as Shirin explained the faith's beliefs surrounding monsters. It was good that this religion wouldn't get in the way of his goals, especially since they-

Wait, did the priestess just say the worship a snakegirl?

As Lew made his way into the chambers with Shirin, his suspicions were truly proven correct. It seems the object of this religion's worship is, in fact, a snakegirl. Such prospects filled Lew with a new excitement for religion that he had never once had before. As he was asked to kneel, he had quickly done so, surrendering himself to this higher power. As he had done so, Lew wondered if this afterlife entailed his bones getting crushed...

Once his indoctrination was complete, Lew opened his eyes slowly. He wasn't entirely sure what he had experienced, although there was one thing that was certain. Lew felt more free, more liberated from the shackles and expectations of life. Lew was almost sure that if he didn't know this was all a game, he would have definitely converted in real life as well. Bowing his head once more to the idol, Lew sat up straight and turned towards Shirin.

"I'm ready for my training, now."

Wherever he would be led to, Lew wondered just how he'll be equipped and, more importantly, if he would receive a uniform more fashionable than whatever it is he started with.

It worked. Not well, but it worked. Mags gave enough time for them to wound the frog with the spear. Unfortunately, that victory was short lived as the man with the spear was sent airborne. Now she was in the danger zone. Less than half her health left. Her virtual body was going to begin to break down. The only respite she took is that she set her own pain to 10%. Judging by the look of their archer, she was still going strong in comparison. This was no time to quit her plan. Not because she cared about her comrades living through this fight. Nah, their lives were meaningless. It was a game after all. No, this was pure sunken cost fallacy.

With every ounce of strength she could gather, she leapt off the ground. She was certain she could hop over Ames with her strength. Her goal was to grab hold of the airborne Klein and, as she met with the ground once more, toss the burning brute at the frog. To hell with the consequences. If he slammed into her territory, it was his own damn fault for not taking the frog down with him. Even if he did practically take a bullet for her, it was entirely useless if they all died to this dumb frog.

Klein

It took Klein's brain a second to process the loss of gravity. A quarter of another second to notice how gradually he is climbing. After that, 2 whole seconds mixed between awe and fear as he freeze mid air, noticing how small his friends has become. If it wasn't because of Magpie's area of control, how insignificant this battle would be in the grand scale of thing? Klein asked himself before staring to presumably where the starting village is. But before he could take anything into details, the gravity slowly dragging him down, increasing faster and faster in velocity and the imminent impact.

This is when he started to notice about Ames's growing head and how fast it is approaching him. And if his Agility was higher, perhaps he could change direction mid air, maybe even move in the air. But... what he can do but to warn Ames from their imminent impacts? But, just as he is about to shout for Ames to watch out, Magpie just grab him mid air, flipping him so he would fall head first, and launch him toward the frog man.

All Klein could do is clutching the spear tightly around his chest, and hope that his passive carry him through this impact.

The battle was a lot more intense up close, on the cusp of Magpie's sandstone and ocean territory. The smell of the salt water met Ames' nose as she continued her lap around the outside of the circular space where Mags, the frogman, and Klein were fighting. The three of them traded uneven blows, and a particularly powerful let out a shock wave and sent Klein flying high. Ames spared her sky bound companion a brief look of concern, but when he burst into a ball of flame she recalled his cool special power and refocused on the enemy. The enemy that was wiggling his way out of Mags' grasp.

The frog slipped away, landing on his hands and - Ames assumed - was about to complete a handspring when the warrior took that chance to move in. Her eyes widened and she moved forward with purpose. There! She lashed out with a kick. If she could get the frog off balance, just give the group more of an opening...

When the frog creature retaliated, it was so quick that Ames didn't know what hit him. Suddenly there was a sensation of limbs behind his head, then a weightless feeling as Ames was lifted off of the ground.

Huh? Huh?

The opponent had been right in front of her, but now all Ames saw was the landscape, upside down, before she was smashed hard into the sandstone. She grunted in pain, the sound quickly turning into panicked sputtering when water rushed into her nose and mouth. She turned her head, lifting it out of the water and squinted her stinging eyes.

"What - what the fuck," she coughed out. She couldn't move, and she couldn't see the frog. Further, there was something warm pressed to her body. Something... slick. Damp. Slimy.

When her brain caught up to her, Ames shrieked and thrashed around in the amphibian's hold with all the strength she could muster. "Groooooooss!" she cried out. Fighting a giant frogman was one thing, but she never wanted to be this close to it! Ames barely even registered Klein or Magpie above, but there was a little voice in the back of her head that said hey girl, that spear is coming in quick. In theory, this could be a good opportunity for the party. If Ames thought she could hold the frog down and escape at the last minute - as she thought was perhaps the frog itself's plan - then maybe the could do some serious damage with Klein's spear.

...but the problem was she didn't think she could escape at the last moment. So the only option was to escape as soon as possible, even if it gave the frog further opportunity for survival.

"Klein if you fucking stab me and I die like this with this frog I - I - !" Ames hissed to herself through clenched teeth, struggling in the frogman's hold.

Shirin blinked, before her cheeks flushed slightly.

“Oh, um, that was the training. For Immortals, at least.”

It appeared that, all things considered, Cacophony Concord’s devs certainly didn’t think that an intensive, realistic training experience was something that players would want to commit their time to. Leave job training and day-long orientation to real life, and all.
@Cu Chulainn
Through his reddened vision, through the thick whistling of his broken mouth as it drew in air, Raime steadied himself and prepared to aim, but neither he, nor Amulak, could find a line. Ames and the frogman were quite literally locked in mortal combat, as the red-haired warrior tried everything in his skillset to break free. But his proficiency laid in weapon use, not in grappling, and straining against the slimy monster’s muscles felt like trying to bend steel. The salt water rippled and rose, as Klein fell faster and faster.

Such a human missile, however, was intercepted by another.

Shooting out from beneath him, Magpie snagged Klein by the arm, having leapt seven feet up into the air to catch him. Still within the realm of her Nuclei, the momentum of the flaming wildman was arrested by the brawler, before she twisted her body and sent him flying towards both frogman and Ames like a bowling ball. And though Klein’s own strength was the lowest of all the frontliners, when combined with the physics of being slingshot from the sky by superhuman strength, even a monster magnitudes mightier than the party would be bowled over.

Ames, freed at last by the great impact, tumbled into the salty waters, system-guided reflexes causing him to roll onto his feet again. Magpie, a step less graceful, ended up falling on her elbow instead, her funny bone striking the sandstone dancefloor and causing an electrifying numbness to shoot up her arm. And what of Klein? Crashing alongside the frogman, monster and immortal tumbled onto the reeds, twenty meters away. The spearhead was lodged deep into the monster’s side, but the rest of the weapon had simply broken from the tremendous impact and the splinters turned to ash before they could lodge themselves in Klein’s skin. Blood, bright and warm, seeped out from the creature, and for three long seconds, it laid upon the ground, unmoving.

Then, it hopped back up on its feet, towering over Klein.

It looked down upon the burning man, then towards the unmovable brawler, before finally settling upon the scout with the smashed-open face, still grasping onto their crossbow. Its lips turned out, exposing its gums in the facsimile of a human smile.

“Respect,” the frogman said, flicking a white disc onto the ground. It clattered, bounced, and settled beside Klein’s face. The image of a tiger, filled with restrained violence, stared back at him.

And in another step, it disappeared once more, leaving the party alone on the riverfields.

"Guh, fuck you gravity."

That was smarts. Her huge play ended up putting her in a bad spot as she collided with the ground. Despite the reduced pain setting, the funny bone still sent shocks. She was now at a disadvantage. A prime picking for a frog's leg to slam into her spine and finally end the fight.

As she turned back to look at the action, she saw his spear firmly lodged into the toad's body, shatter, then turn to ash. Was the frog slain? She began to count to herself as if it were a wrestling match. One... Two... Thr- he kicked out. Rather than choosing to continue the fight, he threw the coin down at Klein. Well, he may have got the coin thrown at him, but Mags was the one that used him as a projectile weapon. She had just as much claim to the loot as him, if not more.

"Mmmind if I roll... need?"

She upgraded her stats as she asked. 6 in Agi, 10 in Dex. She was pretty strong. Better to balance out her martial stats for now. She also removed the baby diaper for now. She didn't want to wear that thing for more than she had to.

As soon as Klein slammed into the sandstone, Ames was free - and never happier to be so. The game righted the warrior after a few tumbles, but once on his feet she wobbled and fell back onto her butt, watching Klein and the frog tussle briefly before - finally - the frogman retreated. Or got bored of them, or was satisfied, whatever. The point was he was gone. Ames let out a great sigh at that. "Jeez."

What a sorry state the party was in, but hey, they did it! And all they got to show for it was a token. At least, all Ames got to show for it. A quick glance at her own status screen plainly showed that number which was quickly becoming her least favorite. 1. Level one. Still.

She didn't stare long at the screen. Once she closed it, Ames stood up and weakly raised her arms over her head in a low effort cheer.

"We did it~ nice job everybody. I can't believe two of you got the cool nucleus-thing already, that's awesome. I'm still level one somehow but whatever." Despite her dismissive words, Ames' tone was a touch annoyed. She brought her arms down and shook them, trying to get some of the creature's residue off of her clothes. "I mean, am I doing something wrong? Did I mess up my character creation? I thought my guy was pretty cute but should I have matched my real life gender? I don't really get what the problem is."

As the redhead mused, she removed her avatar's shoes and carefully peeled off not one, but two of the old beggar's talismans from her person. One of them was always meant to go to Kriz, but he hadn't logged back in yet to her knowledge. With these pieces of equipment removed, Ames strode off towards the river nearby, waving Mags' question off with one hand as she passed the brawler by.

"I feel disgusting," she announced, "We should meet up with Lew and Ari in the city, and maybe like, get a real bath or something... I'm sure all of you smell as bad as I do right now."

Ames wasted no time jumping into the river and washing up just to get the feel of the frogman's slime off of her. When she climbed back out and rejoined the party she was soaking wet, but already seemed to be in a better mood. She glanced at the still bloody Raime. "You need help? Wanna wash your face?"

HP: 180/180 | MP: 189/189 | SP: 198/198

It irritated the scout greatly that he was unable to locate any proper lines of sight to get a shot through, but it was understandable in the chaos of fighting against three individuals at the same instance. Though just as he found an opening, a spear ran through the frogman's body and forced it to collapse. A sense of relief washed over the man but considering how easily it handled them, the amphibious martial artist was likely going on to his next phase. Raime kept his crossbow aimed at its still form and, sure enough, it hopped back up to its feet. Raime was about to pull the weapon's trigger when the creature, seemingly satisfied with what sloppy performance they had shown, just smiles and tosses a token before disappearing just as quickly as it appeared.

Raime was left utterly gobstruck. Despite the vast difference of power between it and them, they still managed to snatch victory in such a bleak situation. The rush of dopamine to his brain as he realized that was beyond rapturous. This rush was beyond any pleasures he'd experienced before. Bold even enough to say that this feeling of attaining victory despite the overwhelming odds was a greater feeling than sex; maybe even better than eating some maple cinnamon rolls after a hard day of working with a warm cup of his favorite tea. God. What a feeling.

The effects of the painkiller herbs were still in effect but the feeling of blood in his eyes was an irritating experience regardless. He holstered his weapon before he crawling towards the river when he overheard Ames talking. "It's only a hunch, but maybe its those talismans you have? I mean both you and Amulak have similar issues but he still levels up sometimes. Maybe because he only has one?" The scout says just as he realized how easy it was for him to articulate words despite having his face caved in. Upon further investigation, he realized that he jumped two levels and had regained all lost HP, MP, SP. Raime thanked God and the devs for that mechanic as he still didn't understand how healing worked other than the white herbs that grew near the river was a natural pain killer. Ames then asked if he wanted some help. "Ah. Thank you for the offer Ames, but I'm fine now." As if to emphasize the point he washes away all his blood staining his face and gargles out the blood inside his mouth before offering the red-haired fighter a winning smile before standing up and reuniting with the rest of the party.

In the meantime, while the party discussed what they wanted to do next, he allocated his points. One point each to his HP, MP, and SP. The remaining ten would be divided between Agi and Dex. Though he decided that once he soft caped them at 60 each, he would focus on developing the rest of his skills so he could be more well-rounded stat wise. But that was for the future Raime to worry about, present Raime was more concerned with finding the faux catgirl and the man who dragged her off. "Finding them would be a good idea. And getting clean would be nice." Raime finishes as he glances down to look at his once pristine grey jinbei, now covered with dirt, grass stains, patches of sweat, and splattered with blood. Mostly his.

HP 110/110 SP 100/100 MP 100/00

Lew nodded once again at Shirin once more, scratching behind his head. It seems that he'll have to do the tried-and-true-method of training that most other games entail. First things first, Lew will go ahead and get one of his prerequisites out of the way. Being lead towards a shrine room just behind the donation box, Lew was told to place his hand on the polished ivory disc, gleaming with a prismatic sheen. A feeling of warmth traveled through Lew's body as he felt the energy being sapped from him as he donated his MP to this relic. The feeling was quite strange, one he was too embarrassed to describe. Once his MP was successfully donated, the next thing to do was to buy new gear...

After going through the process of exchanging his silver coins to Rishi, next on the list was procuring more equipment. In this case, Lew decided to grab himself a staff at first. While Lew cannot cast spells just yet, being comfortable with fighting using a pewter staff would help him out in the long run. Lew also purchased a few player-made talismans, purchasing a couple of basic talismans and a few healing talismans. After a bit of bargaining and budgeting, Lew ended up with 10 basic attack talismans, 5 burst heal talismans, and 5 regeneration talismans,

Happy with his purchases and his jingly jangly staff, Lew finally made his way back to the Keystone, making his queries regarding the classes offered by his faith. After being enlightened as such, Lew decided the best thing to do now was to look for somewhere to solo level. He'd might as well make up for the lost time he spent while his allies were likely doing their own thing. While Lew was a bit worried about Ari, he figured in the end she was probably fine. In the end, he did not have any more catgirls to worry about. He now has a snake girl to simp over.

Amulak al Acturus (Stanislaw)
HP:200/200 MP:250/250 SP: 50/50

Was...was that it? The motherfucker didn't even have the decency to die, he just bowed to them, dropped some loot, and fucked off? At least he got enough xp for another level, though...Mags and Raime were five levels above him now? What? And...Ames still hadn't leveled?

Alright, this was getting ridiculous. Even if there was a class xp penalty for Ames, they'd just beaten a boss. What the actual hell.

And then Raime put it in perspective. Ames was double stacking those talismans? Yeah...okay, that made sense. Hell, he really didn't need that talisman himself after the first few levels of fixing his stats. Amulak immediately unequipped the offending item, shaking his head.

"That make much more sense, yes. Many thanks, Raime. Though I feel is kind of cocktease for big frog boss to just bow to us and run off like bitch." Amulak groused, taking the moment to pump his stats.

+1 DEX
+2 LUK
+5 END

"In any case, what do now? We still had two people who didn't come grind with us, but Ames also need xp points, yes?"

"Huh?" Ames blinked, looking between herself and all the other party members present. Just as Raime said, the only people that had that creepy old man's talismans equipped were herself and Amulak - and the mage was leveling at a much slower rate than the rest of them with just one talisman. Ames had been wearing two. She look at the slips of paper she'd left with her shoes, and after putting those back on she felt an impulse to stomp on the things.

"Really? This whole time it was due to these stupid things?" Ames huffed, barely suppressing said impulse. She couldn't even complain that it was a scam, because they did help. The stat increase had been great. And... well, it was her own fault for equipping two. Her face flushed slightly in embarrassment. It had been her own fault this whole time!

Ames watched Amulak peel his talisman off, and she scooped her own up off the grass and pocketed them. "Yeah, thanks Raime," she sighed. "At this point I'm just kind of tired. I need like, a mental recharge..." The warrior tucked a thumb under her chin, expression morphing into a thoughtful one. "Let's get everyone back together before more grinding. And maybe I'll re-think my class or... or at least get a sword or something. We kinda got thrashed, I'm surprised that thing gave up so easily."

Ames didn't know if she would really swap classes or not, but without the famed gothic lolita MMO healer around, it would be nice for someone to pick that up. Healing was magic, and she did want to wield some kind of magic after all. Regardless of any combat thoughts, the redhead was serious about a bath. A shower at the very least. If possible maybe I'll peddle these talismans too. Sell them for a loss I guess... if Kriz logs back in I'll just repay him the silver.

Klein

Half dead and...

Nah, crossed that. Barely alive and after eating a mouthful of dirt, Klein couldn't help but to feel very conflicted about what the frogman just did. A part of him was so happy just for the fact that he is still here and not himself 3 hours earlier. But on the other hand, there was this greed in the back of his mind, saying that if the group are just a little bit more committed into the frogman, perhaps they could have all gain a set of rare items from this. Speaking of rare items, Klein grabs the tiger plate beside him before handing it to each of the group members to inspect.

"Maybe some kind of rare jobs?" Klein said as he handed out the item. The group theory on the talisman was very interesting. The fact that it could possibly drain xp leaves Klein to wonder why would the talisman owner do it? Or, perhaps, did not give them any warning about it? And to be honest, returning to the village would be the best option for Klein right now, seeing how his passive is barely holding on its own. Perhaps he will rest in the village and go out at night, just before the village close its gate to the outside world. He just need to survive the wilderness for a night to get the mountain men class. To be honest, is it even worth it at this point?

Klein can't imagine a group of newbies, with no class, can kill a kappa, let alone 2 of them. And already, he had lost like 4-5 levels. Kinda huge if you are in here to get some early fame. But he ain't here to voice his opinion about class diff. So, it is whatever. Beside, he is more of a late bloomer anyway.
