Back in the old days, they had an ancient pact in which they had their own territory and remained within it with threats of retaliation. It was a shaky peace treaty in which the Gods were constantly overstepping boundaries and territories in small ways to test each other. The era was not a great one for mortals as they were treated as charity cases at best, and cattle at worst. At some point, the peace treaty absolutely shattered and the Gods of each pantheon went to war with each other. It was an enormous, world-spanning, earth-shattering, war in which Gods were killed left and right, and millions of humans were lost in the conflict. It went on for hundreds of years as the planet was ripped to shreds and ironically shaped into what it is now.
However, unbeknownst to the Gods, a new being has risen from the shadows. It was known as the Godslayer and it was a being of immense and inconquerable power... the power to permanently kill Gods. It subtly began killing these Gods until it was too late to stop it, almost all the pantheons were wiped out. In a fit of desperation, the surviving Gods locked away their power and reincarnated themselves into a weaker form in a vain attempt to throw off the Godslayer.
It worked.
The Godslayer vanished without a trace and civilization moved on without the interference of the Gods or other Mythological beings. However, Gods never truly die and the Gods that were deceased in the war were also reincarnated. The Gods reincarnated for centuries without nary a clue of who they are or what their role was. Each life differed from the other... until September, 19th, 2019, when The Return happened. The Return was when the seal finally opened and the Gods' powers returned in albeit far weaker than ever before. These people are coming to grips with their newfound abilities while they are being pulled into a conflict that none of them ever could want or be prepared for.

Welcome to Coil: Pantheon Divided! It's an RP that I wanted to make for a while now in which was kind of inspired by all those "School for Greek God" RPs and I thought "What if we cut out the schools, and not limit it just to Greek Gods". After some planning over the months and some great ideas from @silvermist1116 and @MelodicElement I finally compiled all the ideas and then came up with this RP.
The basic premise of Coil is that it centers around the reincarnations of various Gods, monsters, and other heroes of myths as they come to grips with their new abilities and their newfound roles. The RP will be character-driven and semi-sandbox, in which I will be providing a central plotline - but everyone can do whatever they see fit with their characters and come up with storylines of their own within the world. Just to get across now, these will be original characters who have the souls and abilities of these beings from myth.
The brand new age of Gods is just beginning and it's up to them to decide where they will take it. As well as coming to terms with the memories and personalities of these beings.
