when i was a little kid, i had a friend who ended our friendship with the excuse 'i have too many friends'. in truth, i believe it was so she could be with the popular kids.

memories, right?

In elementary school my best and only friend ended our friendship because I told him politely to not tell the new kid why I didn't have video games.

I have an… odd affinity for female characters with parental issues (ie- Asuka from Evangelion).

Tell me about it. There is just something about such character that triggers my paternal instincts. Like I was watching that Japanese horror movie about the little girl that comes out of your TV and murders you because she was drowned in a well as a kid. Something like that. I can't recall the name right now and the details are fuzzy. Anyway the entire time I just couldn't be scared by it at all. All I kept feeling was sorry for the girl and how nobody ever just tries being nice to her instead of trying to escape.

In school I used to eat my food before lunch and ate a notoriously large lunch in like a lunch bag 3 ft wide and 6 iches tall. Once a girl commented "I would kill you for your metabolism" as I am skinny but eat less than I did 3 years ago.

I had a close friend in kindergarten that I insisted was my girlfriend. My mom always told me that she thought it was really cute, but I don't remember the friend very much. Despite that, I still occasionally wonder what she's up to.

Back in my day I actually had to go to school uphill both ways. You young people laugh all you want but it's true!

When I went to school, I had to walk alone in the boonies a third mile to get to my bus stop. No sidewalks, up and down hills. Since Kindergarten. Miserable in the winter time. I also would explore the woods and climb trees all alone...

I remember walking to school some days during a normal New England winter. The mucus in my nostrils would often freeze, leaving small thin layers of ice keeping my nose plugged. Oh what a wonderful life! :D

Speaking of winters one thing I newer understood in cartoons was the concept of a snow day. Like do american children really get a day off just because of a little snow? Where I am from you can have snow up to your armpits and a blizzard and you are still expected to attend.

It depends on where the school is located. If the school is located in the deep south, for instance, then they'll cancel school if it starts to snow even the slightest bit since snow in a place where it rarely - and I mean rarely - snows can cause serious problems for people/communities not used to snow. Where I live, though, that kind of snow wouldn't cancel school at all. Here it needs to be nearly a blizzard and/or double digit negative temperature/wind chill to cancel school.

i have slipped and fallen on black ice before. The first incident was when i was in eight grade, in front of a public library. I could not get up because of my left leg and my dad had to help me up. I could not even bend it it was in so much pain. It was hours before i could even at least limp on that leg. a day or so after that it was finally back to normal, completely i mean.

My (Russian) boyfriend's family is well off, to include himself. Their jobs are good, but not amazing enough to imo, earn them the kind of money they have. Could they be spies? Sure. Have I jokingly brought this up to him? Yes. Is there a chance I disappear one of these days because of my insatiable curiosity? Absolutely.

I am not sure who you are supposed to sue. God? If your buss goes of the road due to ice it's an unpreventable accident. At least where I am from.

Thing is TV always depicts this as children going to play outside in the snow. And that's the WTF for me. Like I can understand it happening if houses are literally snowed in to the point where you can't even get the door open. But if you can go out of your house at all, let alone play outside safely than you can walk to school just fine. And sure, you might need to get walking a hour earlier than you normally would. But that's just life for you. Deal with it.

I literally had weeks where I would go uphill both ways (I had to cross a hill) to reach public transport in snow up to my knees as a kid. And it was completely normal. Just put on warm socks, get up early and trudge those extra hours.

(Wow I sparked a couple school stories then...)

Alright here goes: I up until grade 5 was bullied by my classmates and the older grades, I was a weird kid cause I'm disabled but nobody knew (Not even me) until grade 6. I was with a friend after school in the field when a couple of grade 6 boys came talking crap about me and etc and after 5 years of verbal abuse I punched the kid in the nose and said.

"Go f*** yourself"

And 11 year old me walked off into the sunset, scot-free and all the older kids feared me and the younger kids came to revere me like a prophet.

I'm so sorry to hear that, I was one of those people in school who would often stand up for people getting bullied and my family taught me to stand up for myself and others. I knew a kid with autism in high school who was bullied because of his autism and it pissed me off, like he was also the smartest kid I knew and these people made him cry because he was 'different' and public schools are shit at dealing with bullys.

I hate people who mistreat others.

I got held back in Kindergarten "because I wasn't emotionally ready." In reality, it was because I was a tiny(about the size of a 3year old), sensitive little girl and the others were all bigger and meaner than me.
