The year is 2019, and the world is akin to the real world. Except for one difference in the month of January. "The Incident" otherwise known as "The Event" occured, a massive global disaster that struck the world at the beginning of the year. A disaster so unprecedented it united the entire global populace against one common tragedy. 200 million residents of planet earth were instantly disintegrated in a manner reminiscent of Thano's somber snap at the end Avengers Infinity War.

Without any form of warning or reason millions of people were disintegrated around the globe. Several explanations were given to explain the horrific nightmare that engulfed the world at large. Numerous theories had been thrown around in a vain effort to make sense of this calamity. Some of which included the christian end times rapture, alien invasions, advanced biochemical terrorism, but in the end nothing was confirmed. The most horrid part of all of this that kept those who were left on earth was their was no definitive answer. With so many people wiped out of existence in but a moment there was even more lives lost as collateral damage from the unfortunate applications of this atrocity.

Vehicles without drivers running off the road or crashing into ones still manned by the remnants. Planes without pilots plummeting to the ground, ships without captains left roaming in the depths of the ocean, larger vehicles such as trucks & bus's spiraling out of control without drivers to control them, homes engulfed in flames where residents had been cooking when they were evaporated. As if that wasn't enough, a global blackout lasting four days took place simultaneously at the same time of the mass human incineration. The following month another unprecedented occurrence followed one which would lead humanity even further down the rabbit hole.

What sort of follow-up event could be as alarming & devious as the one that stripped so many lives from civilization? The Return of those very same people that had been whisked away in the blink of an eye forty days later. Many were embraced by relatives, friends & other loved ones they'd left behind, while some where met with a well earned suspicion. To some that rematerialized a mere speculation that they were not who they claimed to be was the least of their worries. The saddest of them all must have been those who returned to find their lives in shambles. The very people they cared for most in the world slain as collateral damage in "The Incident" itself or who took their own lives as result of being unable to cope with the morbid reality of those they cherished being vaporized. The Vanished have no memories of their absence whatsoever unable to recall anything except their final moments before being wiped off the face of the earth. Within the next four months the world quickly comes to find out those who've returned have came with mysterious gifts. Abilities that could only be described as superhuman powers the likes of X Men mutants or DC's own league of heroes.

Set five months after the initial incident,four months after the Return. The world is reeling fracutred over the populace that vanished without a trace, and returned 40 days later with superhuman abilities. Many of the Fractured as they were called have tried to integrate back into their real lives, many have not manifested powers as of yet, and many think they wont. Regardless as you can imagine while not nearly as serious as the chaotic incineration of millions, the manifestion of superhuman powers has caused destruction and even the loss of some lives. The world is racing to figure out what to do, how to handle their superhuman populace, the validity of these powers, how powerful are they, what people have them, do any who were not incinerated have them, who allwas incinerated, who was behind the event, what does it mean for the world and the future of humanity? Find out in the world known as Fractured that we build together, a real life copy with small difference's such as politicians, major events, and how everything pulls together.

Premise
People can play as regular humans and/or those dubbed as "Empowered. Some who returned manifested their powers right away, some are just now discovering them, and their are others whose powers remain dormant. The storyline revolves around how those with superhuman powers affect the real world, as well as the aftermath of "The Incidents". The Government coalition responsible for the incident have formed a secretive multi-national paramilitary agency known as Legion to capture & kill those empowered. Also people with superhuman abilities have become public knowledge in the past month of the RP.

Rules:
1. Fairness, want everyone to be fair and remember this is a story powers can grow over the story. But I'd prefer you remember that powers are GROWING, so do not start off with any sort of mastery of your ability.
2. You can have as many characters as you can keep up with.
3. Stay as active as your life allows you to, and if you foresee an extended duration of unavailability try to free up any plots/characters you have interactions with.
4. Minimum post length at least one to two paragraphs
5. Set in the "Real" world so keep that in mind, this not Marvel or DC comics. So the current year is 2019, everything that happened in the Real World/Reality happened up until January 2019 where the storyline begins/takes place.
6. Powers are first come first serve, a power can be reserved if you PM me, and let me know. :) I'll keep a record of reserved powers, as a result of this it's advisable to ask and see if a power is available. Duplicate powers are allowed IF THE ORIGINAL person who picked the power doesn't mind, but try to have a creative difference for how you use the power.
7. Due to the nature of how they got their powers, no characters under 14 have powers.
8. Reality Ensues, to make this a unique & fun experience in this RP reality takes precedent over emotional attachment to characters. Meaning for exmaple if your character is waltzing around Manhattan and Manhattan is hit by a Nuclear Missile, your character is deceased. Unless of course your character has means to teleport out of the way or such etc. There will be situations in the RP that may cost your characters their lives, but alas you can have multiple characters.
9. Most importantly, have fun.

Only reason I even said that is cause the RP is set in the "Real World". Basically the world we have today, only difference being the plot ie people getting vaporized a few months ago in 2018 and people now having powers.

BACKGROUND

Haley was born and raised in a middle-class family in Toronto. She was the youngest of two kids, her older brother, Benjamin, being 2 years her senior. Given her privileged upbringing, Haley never got into trouble as a teenager. In fact, compared to her brother, her parents would say she was a saint. Haley got along with her classmates and was never involved in any fights. She was the soft spoken type, and family members adored being around her since the time she was a little girl.

Once she graduated high school, Haley felt like she needed to get away from her home town for a while. She went away to attend the University of British Columbia to pursue a teaching degree. The girl had always been smart, and the fact that she loved teaching others meant she had chosen the right career path. Her four years in school went by quick, and it only took a couple of applications before she was called in for an interview and offered a teaching position at a high school. Haley gladly accepted, and she knew she was going to love her new position.

When she was 25, Haley met her boyfriend, Zach. The two got along splendidly, though as of late they had been getting into some intense fights. The day the incident occurred, Haley was waiting to have a conversation with Zach. When he got home, the conversation was civil for a minute or two before it turned into a shouting contest. Both Haley and Zach reached a point where they were nearly seeing red, and the last thing Haley remembers is announcing their relationship was over before she vanished from existence.

Ability: Viris/Position Shift: A supernatural eye ability, enabling ocular insight for the user. The irises colour does not change when activated, enabling a bit of deception. It’s sole tell, is brief twinkling like little stars upon activation. When Lorna activates Viris, she manifests cat ears and a cat tail for the duration of Viris’ use. Viris compliments these by showing her the telegraphing more clearly. If she focuses while Viris is activated, she can gain a full two seconds of slowed down perception of these movements. Even with targets moving at high speeds. It helps with reading lips too, as she can pick up more subtle details when Viris is activated, along with clarity from a further distance than she can when Viris is dormant.

Position Shift is a ability that allows for the user to switch places with a target. When utilized with Viris, the user only has to see the target once, to activate the power and cause the shift. This is fine for objects and other inorganic matter. When Position Shift is used on organic things, particularly sentient beings, then they feel a tingling sensation, as if there is an aura of energy around them. It is not visible to the naked eye, unless they have the ability to see energies but the user can feel it, smell it, and hear it. This is the only indication they have that they’re being targeted for a Position Shift. If the opponent is moving about too quickly, then the ability will be unable to lock on and allow for the shift.

In this way, Viris is the perfect companion ability for Position Shift. As the eye can discern fast movements, slowing the perception of the target down by approximately two seconds. Thanks to this additive capability, it becomes easier for Lorna to predict where the target is moving and attempt a Position Shift. Though it is by no means guaranteed. When using Position Shift, if Lorna is bound or has foreign objects within her body, she will leave those behind when using Position Shift.

The range of this ability is about fifteen meters when done by sight. However, Position Shift has a more advanced application. Known as Position Marking, Lorna inscribes a mark, composed of runes onto up to five targets at a time.Using this, even if Lorna does not have a visual on it, Lorna’s intuition allows her to see where the target is. All she needs to do is position shift with one of her marked targets after, in order to pull off more advanced maneuvers. The range using Position Marking, is 50M radius. Lastly, Lorna can switch with a living target twice per round, while objects she can switch with can be done up to four times per round. Once this is used up, Position Shift is unavailable for two rounds.

Vibration Manipulation: Vibrations are in all things, from water to mechanical structre, even people. Lorna can tap into those frequencies and allow herself to manipulate those vibrations. However, this does come with a drawback, for when she is trying to manipulate vibrations due to the power coming from her body and not externally, this can often leave Lorna with painful bones, if used for too long, can and will bruise or shatter her bones although this can't be negated, it can be lessened with protective gear. The full force of Lorna's power with Vibration Manipulation is not known, because she doesn't like to go too big with her powers. She prefers hand to hand fighting along with her other abilities.

Background: Born in the outback, no place specifically to mention, Lorna was born into the Olwyn family. The Cataclysmic Event happenened and most the population simply vanished. Four months ago, something extraordinary happened. Only two members of the Olwyn Family survived, the Child and Father of the Olwyn Family: Lorna Olwyn and Gavin Olwyn. Her abilities are sort of the same as her dads, but a lot different if you examine them both. She didn’t get her eye until naturally awakening it later in life as a 16 year old during one of her Volleyball games.. Specifically the left one. It allowed her to get her team to the finals and ultimately won. However, she never was able to use this eye again for some reason, it was almost as if it activated during very specific scenarios where something was on the line. She didn’t realize until later that she could actually use this eye for other things as well. She uses this eye in very few occasions because she doesn’t like to abuse such important and very powerful things, it was never in her to do so along with the fact that her parents never taught her that way.

In the case of her right eye, this occurred only because she wanted to protect her friends from a rival bloodline that always tried to take her and her family out because of the powerful eyes that they had. Long story short, her right eye awakened during a small battle between Lorna and her friends and being outnumbered by the rival bloodline, Yashigara. She never wanted to fight, but this was at least good for her because it allowed for her to get familiar with her powers and know of at least something that they can do. This all happened a full year after the first eye’s incident. After asking her father why this was all happening, it was explained to her that it happened because it was fate playing by her side which seemed like a stretch to Lorna, but in reality, this was common in her bloodline. Some people even thought of their bloodline being able to control fate itself since almost all members of it went through similar scenarios which is why they seemed so unstoppable. Her powers then mutated into something stronger, she was able to control vibrations with her hands, this was the first time that the Bloodline power had adapted and evolved and she was classed as an abomination even to those who had had powers as well...

In Lorna’s case, she never cared about being of a special bloodline.. In fact, she didn’t really enjoy it since she was always targeted for it and somewhat picked on for “growing up with special privileges.” She wishes none of this happened to her, but honestly is grateful for it since it gives her the ability to protect those in need along with handling things easier. Other than this, she grew up normally, going to a private school and on her way to become something that she always wanted to be, which was a professional volleyball player along with drawing great art for people and getting paid for it. Yeah, drawing was a secret talent of hers that she, for some odd reason, never decided to show someone and kind of went under a different artist name because she thinks her art is somewhat embarrassing to draw because her requests get outrageous.
