Gender: They are often referred to as males, but technically they have no gender. They are robots.

Powers: Both androids have the same power set. They have a link, HIVEMIND, that lets them communicate with each other quickly, silently, and efficiently. This communication link can be tapped into by their human partners via standard issue comm devices. Both bots are fitted with plasma blasters with adjustable intensity. The highest setting can blast a hole through a brick wall, the lowest can leave some ouchies on skin. Both androids have a deadlift limit of 3000 pounds. They can both run at 40 MPH for up to 10 minutes before they must slow down to cool. Both are equipped with night vision, enhanced vision up to 6 miles, both units are waterproof, internet connection to pull data from, and an advanced AI system that is capable of continual learning. Lastly, being that they are machines with their entire identity backed up on hard drives, they are technically immortal.

Weaknesses: Being a machine is all well and good, but machines do have limits. TANDEM's main drawback in their ability to overheat. If a unit exerts too much energy in a short amount of time, it will begin to overheat and be forced into its cool down protocol, which basically consists of "hide until you are cooled off". Another weakness is water. While TANDEM's hulls are waterproof, if they get torn open and exposed to water, they can be severely damaged. Lastly, each unit weighs 312 pounds. This limits their agility and can make transportation difficult.

Personality: This is where the TANDEM units get interesting. Being that they are robots, they shouldn't technically have personalities. They were not programmed to have personalities. But their AI systems have self evolved over the last six months, and lately, the units have been showing signs of having preferences, ideas, and even opinions. The implications of this have not been fully realized. What happens if they suddenly decide they don't agree with their handlers?

Appearance: The twin units are almost completely identical. Both are 6 feet even, have a silver outer hull, humanoid shape, and are marked with a big T1 and T2. Both units are fitted with indication lights to help their handlers access their health from a distance. These lights are red (T1) and blue (T2), which also helps to tell the units apart.

Other: TANDEM is kept in two sleep chambers in the lab when they aren't in use. These sleep chambers help them power down, do updates, run background programs, ect. The other day, T1 showed signs of irritation when it's sleep chamber was down for repairs and it had to use T2's. Diagnostics were run to for any signs of malfunction, but none were found.

History: The androids themselves don't have much of a history. They're only six months old, after all. But the TANDEM program has been in the works for decades. It originated as a way to replace human soldiers with robots. These days, the focus is replacing superhuman recovery agents with more androids like TANDEM. TANDEM are the first of their kind, and are currently doing a 2 year trial run to ensure that they are up to the task.
