Do you need help putting a unit together?

I'm still somewhat undecided on which two options I am leaning more towards, what time frame to start are we looking at?

Don't worry about the time frame too much. If you want to go thematic, you could Berkut/other MVD troops banded together and riding on BTRs and still keep a distinct identity through that. Red berets and telnyashkas, maybe a fitting nom de guerre for a commander or the unit as a whole. Go crazy :p

I wanted to include a set of movement rules similar to the one used for Assault. With this said, each round is 5 minutes long. Each hex is 250 meters across.
We will use the T, W, & L columns only.

T = Tracked Vehicles which have four (4) movement factors (MF).
W = Wheeled Vehicles which have three (3) movement factors (MF).
L = Leg which has only one (1) movement factor (MF).

As examples, wheeled BTRs traveling along hardball paved roads use 1/4 of a MF per hex. With 3 MFs, the BTR can travel along 12 hexes in one five minute turn. But if they enter a hex adjacent to an enemy unit, they must halt.

A tracked Main Battle Tank traveling along open terrain costs 1 MF to move through. With 4 MFs, the MBT can travel through 4 hexes in one five minute turn.

Dismounted infantry through any terrain type except lakes and marshes will always move 1 hex and 1 hex only.

Welcome @Andreyich

I recall those movement factors from the Spearhead in the Gap Roleplay. I had T80s and BMPs for that RP. I could move them 8 hexes on the roads.

I was finishing up something but then I realized I should have asked this before: traditional foot infantry is not allowed I take it, but what about motorized?

Oh they're both allowed as far as I'm concerned, but going in without vehicles is something you don't want to do to yourself :p Choose whichever vehicles you like, I'd say. My reasoning is that there are a lot of BTRs, BMPs, and everything being pulled out of storage in this scenario so you can have however many you want. But if you want to go with trucks or even requisitioned civilian vehicles, be my guest

You can have motorized, mech, airborne or air assault. If you choose AA, you will get a defensive mission west of the city. Think of US 101st Airborne in the Ardennes in December, 1944. Armor v. Light infantry.

At the moment my composition is men mostly on acquired cars and trucks including civilian yes, along with seized heavy weaponry. Not the armour of IFV/APC/MBTs but much more liquidity of assets. Like former Berkut troops did around 2014-present they also make use of their aluminum riot armour for light but effective frag suits. They are very well trained but not prepared for this sort of fighting.

I need to resume writing the Brigade Operations Order. @Andreyich Do you have a designation for your unit?

Dutchbag: II./34th Motorized Rifle Regiment (MRR)
Gunther: I./34th MRR
Landain: I./37th Tank Regiment

I reminded myself of when Dutchbag and I were talking about this in PM. I started with a Regimental organization and strength of three battalions and then reduced it to one battalion.

I'll chime in by pointing out we all have roughly a battalion sized unit, with some manner of supporting elements. Gunther's bat is a consolidation of the remains of his brigade's three battalion into one, mine is a bottom-up gathering of militias. If you want to have two battalions, I'm not going to stop you, but in order not to overextend I'd suggest having Sokol group around the strength of a (reinforced) battalion, with nine to twelve infantry platoons.

2nd & 3rd Battalions, Sokol Group.

The thing is that Berkut battallions are traditionally much smaller than actual military ones, so there has to be more than one to achieve something like numeric parity with the other applications in this game.

I'm going to treat it as one battalion. Sokol Group
The unit I have was at one time three battalions, but reduced to one due to desertions and vehicle malfunctions.
