Unfortunately, no.

While two successes isn't terrible, keeping a man alive after a gun shot wound isn't a simple task. Elizabeth does her job, going through the full routine, keeping her beast in check despite all the blood pooling around her. Luckily she wasn't hungry, or she may have given in.

The man is still alive when they get to the hospital, but it's obvious that he's not going to be long. The shot resulted in blood in the lungs, and you simply did not get to him in time. While you managed to get him breathing again, the brain damage from lack of oxygen had already started, and the machines in the bus were the only thing keeping him alive. Of course, the doctors do their best, but by the time all the shrapnel from the bullet is found, it's too late. He dies on the operating table.

A review happens, as it always does when someone dies. But, Elizabeth did her job well. Kept calm, and really pushed to keep him from slipping away. It wasn't enough to save the man, but it was enough to keep her out of a drug test, and the physical that comes with it.

Honestly that's a lot better than I was assuming a fail was going to be. I'm happy with that. I'll probably start writing that out later.

Strictly speaking, you didn't fail. You didn't meet the threshold for a complete win, but you did get two successes. Additional successes could have meant an even better result. As it stands, though, there was an investigation. It's on the books that someone died after a ride in her bus. That happens too often, and Elizabeth will need to submit for testing. The blush of life can go far, but a full medical review would risk the masquerade.

On a brighter note; I finally found a good image for Jesse! I'll get a full description up tomorrow, and post his opener then. Jesse's going to be in a race.

@Dark Cloud Normally, smoking would require a blush of life. However, Jose is only thin-blood trash, so he doesn't have to rouse his beast to enjoy a smoke.

Oh, everyone please mark your character's current hunger on your CS in the CS section. Everyone should be at minimum 1 at the start of this.

Luckily, he got six successes for his drive check, so he did quite well. 4 , 2 , 1 , 8 , 5 , 9 , 8 , 4 , 6 , 10 , 6, with the first two being the hunger dice means he escaped without a bestial response. Which is good.

My next post will be the contents of the manila envelope he received, which each of your characters will be receiving a copy of in your next posts. Feel free to post now with the results of your initial posts, as well as including your characters receiving the envelope from a source that ensures they will respond to it and take it seriously.

So just to clarify my understanding a bit. With a 'rouse check' the action you're trying to do will always succeed (unless of course as a GM you wish to override it for any reason) but what the check does is actually see if it costs any Hunger points to actually do the action, correct? And with Hunger, is 1 fully sated and the other end ravenous?

@Limey Essentially, yes. The rouse check isn't to see if you fail to activate the ability, so much as it is to see if your hunger increases for doing it.
Also, 1 is the minimum hunger you can be at without killing a human. It's not fully sated, but it's as close as you can get without taking a life. 5 would be ravenous to the point of entering a hunger frenzy.
