Interesting. I was expecting to see savage tribesmen and barbarian tribes. It will be interesting to see how they'll fair in this last alliance of Etherean people.

Thanks. The note I'm hoping to strike with this is the dissonance of a giant flaming elephant-man turning your entire body into mist with a warhammer, and then reciting weird poetry a moment later.

Would probably catch a lot of elves off guard and would amuse dwarves...

Question. It seems like magic is highly common in this setting. But still, How many mages are too many in a regiment?

And is this more in the age of classical myth, like greco-roman/ turn of the bronze age? or traditional european medieval 'Ala holy Roman empire, 100 years war, etc.'

Mages in this world are common, but rarely are they regular soldiers. During the events of the roleplay they are even fewer. Any mages that come into your regiments are either the last of the elite battle mages you have or are fresh faced recruits that have been drawn up from your citizens to fight or die in the face of the growing darkness.

The age of this isn't exactly uniform, however I did envision the roleplay to be closer to the Greco-Roman like era. It's hard to say what would and wouldn't be possible for a fantasy setting and I don't really want to bother too much as I primarily focus more on everyone's narratives rather than the tech. So I say, you're free to make it either I suppose.

I'm asking g because I don't want to do something that grinds against the intended theme. I was originally thinking of something in the style of wfb empire.pire troops/ RL Swiss mercenaries. But that is more firmly medieval style and not classical. If the theme is classical I'll think of something else.

I'd say then that classical is more in line with what I had imagined. Ranks of heavy infantry arrayed into Macedonian style phalanxes or perhaps Roman-esque legionaries holding a shield wall throwing javelins before beginning their slow push into the enemy ranks cutting down everything in their path. This is what I had envisioned, of course with a more fantastical element in play.
