Oh shoot wait, we can't roll in another person's rolling list? Dang, I should have figured as much. Unless I'm missing something here xD In retrospect, I'm not really sure why I expected that to work. I guess I'll just make my own separate one then?
Here's my Starting Wealth roll. Got pretty good luck with this one. Hope I didn't use all my luck on my starting gear xD
Unfortunatey, it seems like you can't. I kind of thought we'd be able to do that, but apparently not? That's why I ended up just making a new one specifically for me to roll on for this campaign to keep everything in order. And that's the one I linked above.
On his own, Ferrin stands at around 5'9" and weighs about 190 lbs. When traveling for work or when he thinks he might go into battle, he is often wearing his armor, but when battle isn't the main goal, he will often travel lighter, preferring more casual attire for ease of travel and comfort, and will often just wear clothing over his chain shirt.
Personality: + Cheerful, always attempting to look at the bright side of things + Loves to fight in hand to hand/unarmed combat, and actively seeks new brawling partners at every opportunity. He also believes that finding and fighting strong opponents really helps him hone his skills and improve himself! + Strives to put his best foot forward and be a role model, like the Knights of Meridell were for him as a child. + Bold and willing to stand up to anybody, no matter how strong or terrifying they might be, if it means saving the lives of innocents. + Honest and always tries to keep his promises, no matter what they are. + Has a secret fondness for plushies and actually looks to start a collection one day, although this is extremely embarrassing for him and he would never admit it. - Extremely overconfident in his own abilities. - Riddled with prejudice against the Darigan race and the citadel above, especially soldiers, due to his experiences and knowledge of the War on Meridell. - Extremely easy to anger and frustrate through insulting his honor or fighting abilities. Especially if you're a noble doing it. - Ferrin sometimes lashes out violently when his rage or frustration is pushed to his limit. Though he would still never use a weapon against somebody who didn't truly deserve it.
Backstory: Seemingly born on the outskirts of the village surrounding Meridell Castle, Ferrin's heritage is a mystery even to him. He's been on his own for as long as he can remember, unable to recall even the family that he must have had at some point in his life. All he can recall is that he lived on the streets of Meridell, getting by doing mundane tasks around the village for meager payment. He would often receive offers to take care of him more properly, but he would always shake his head and respond that he was fine. He was a tough guy, he could handle himself. That was, of course, unless the local bullies were messing with him. Most of them he could handle on his own; he taught himself how to brawl from an early age, finding it necessary now and again to defend himself.
However, one in particular got to him above all others: a Darigan Draik named Corrin Ritter. The Draik was evidently born from a family that had seemingly supported Meridell financially during the War and thus granted noble status as a token of good faith upon the peace treaty between the two kingdoms. Corrin, as was the case with most noble children, was receiving a formal education...and formal training for knighthood into the order of Knights that defended Meridell. Due to this formal training, Ferrin could never match Corrin. Every time he and Corrin crossed paths, it would inevitably end up in an argument, Ferrin would throw a punch, only to get beaten in response. He would easily get away with it by saying he was simply defending himself, despite the fact that he was always manipulating Ferrin's anger and instigating the fight himself. This ultimately led to Ferrin distrusting the Knights, hating that they were going to let just any noble brat into their ranks.
One day, however, as Corrin was giving him a beatdown just like any other, who should step in to put a stop to it but a Knight, who happened to be in the area on some mission. Expecting to be told off for attacking a noble, the Scorchio was about to shout back. However, the Knight surprised him by reprimanding Corrin instead, and telling him that that wasn't how a noble and future knight should carry himself. This moment changed everything for the young Scorchio. From that day forward, Corrin never again set foot in the area and his bouts with Ferrin stopped completely. Ferrin knew then that he had been mistaken about everything. Perhaps the Knights, and maybe even the nobility itself wasn't so bad after all! In fact, Ferrin even began to idolize the Knights for their actions, and would go out of his way to visit or observe the way the knights acted, or sometimes, even watched them fight as they took down a criminal here and there.
Ferrin had decided: He was going to prove himself. He was going to become a Knight of Meridell, noble blood or no!
And thus, years of training began. Starting with a wooden sword and eventually saving up enough money to have a blade made for him. He was largely self-taught, but on occasion, a passing knight would chuckle at him and offer some pointers. And then, one day, it happened. There was an incident in the marketplace, and Ferrin was able to stop a thief and retrieve the stolen goods. A knight, who had apparently been tracking that thief, was impressed with Ferrin's work and offered to allow him a chance to join them. Thus, he visited the Castle for the first time in his life, on an invitation from one of the Knights he so idolized! When he showed up, they had him spar with one of the newly recruited knights for the year, and if they could impress the superiors enough in the match, then he would be granted honorary knighthood. He agreed without a moment's hesitation. But when he finally stepped into the sparring circle, he laid eyes upon his opponent.
A Darigan Draik.
Ferrin, now more determined than ever, fought with his rival from years ago, Corrin. And while he ultimately lost the contest, he had made it a close fight. The higher ranked knights that watched were impressed how close it had been, despite his lack of formal training. And thus, they inducted him, and Ferrin began his training as a Knight of Meridell. And over the year he worked, he was even beginning to befriend Corrin, who had begun to admit that there was a slight chance that he had some level of talent. The two trained together and even occasionally would be partnered for missions together. Ferrin even became particularly close to one other rookie Knight in particular.
However, this all began to fly when Ferrin uncovered something big.
On one of his missions, Ferrin had befriended a Faerie Cybunny who had been victimized in town. One day, however, she went missing, and Ferrin began to investigate. Eventually, he followed a lead from a shady pub and found himself tracking some suspicious characters driving a covered wagon into the castle grounds, and discovered the cargo of unconscious Faerie Neopians! However, as he was trying to help them, he was discovered and began to fight them off. But then, who should reveal themselves but Corrin, who easily took him down once all the Faerie-colored Neopians were carted off. To make things worse, Corrin called the guards on him, and he was arrested on the spot for assaulting nobles and a fellow knight. But when Ferrin tried to explain himself, he was silenced by Duke Ritter, who assured him that no such Neopians were found anywhere near his property. In the end, he was discharged from service. When his other Knight friend tried to appeal to the king regarding his character, he was denied, and was even reprimanded for speaking out against the king's orders.
Of course, Ferrin knew what was going on. They were no doubt protecting the Ritter family, since they were so important to the political relationship with the Darigan Citadel.
Since that day, Ferrin has travelled around the lands owned by Meridell and Brightvale both, still brandishing the colors of his homeland. He may not be a knight, and he may despise the nobility for what he viewed as cowardice, but that didn't mean the Knights didn't have value or virtue. And that didn't mean he was wrong to idolize them. He still fancies himself a Knight to this day, even if it's not in formal title. So, when he heard the call for adventurers for some important task from none other than King Hagan himself, Ferrin had to admit, he was tempted to see what the fuss was about. He had his distrust of nobility, but he'd heard nothing but good about Hagan, and maybe this was worth a try. Besides, if the King himself was looking for recruits, it had to be important. The noble Knight in him couldn't resist the draw to this new task....
@Digizel I would go ahead. I've skimmed over the character sheet and can tell you're definately more experienced with the lore amd have a great character with an interesting antagonist. I'd like to actually sit down and read the whole thing before I continue on to actually posting a starter.
Haha. Oh yeah, Ferrin is perhaps my most well developed character, and after loads of practice and research, I am well-versed in the lore of the land. Although I admit that some of it was kind of my own personal headcanon? Perhaps unsurprisingly, the actual website doesn't go into great detail about the politics of Neopia or anything like that. xD And of course, any characters mentioned in that story are my own creation, outside of King Skarl.
But yeah, I like to weave a bit of plot into my backstories with GM permission whenever I play a TTRPG. I feel it can sometimes give the GM a story arc they can play out later if they so desire, or it can just stay background detail as well.
But yeah, if you need Neo lore, I'm your man~ I've done LOADS of Neopets RP over forums and chat messages before, so I've got a handful of fleshed out characters. Though Ferrin and Oki are by far my most, hence why they're my favorites~
He seems like an outlier against the group, which is good! To patient and giving people and one brash forward thinker! let's hope his allies will help temper his rage. I'll also mention that plushies were going to be something the players come across so it's interesting that he wants to collect them!
As for Corrin, he seems like a wonderful NPC to integrate. If you are willing to allow me to try playing them of course. You seem fairly talented in terms of dnd so feel free to pitch any ideas to me about how I could build a good stat block for him or better roleplay them! I can certainly fit them into the story, as it fits with my campaign's general theme.
I believe we are just waiting on a reply from @Moon Man . I am very excited, and nervous, to get this show on the road!

It's all good! Ferrin is very selfless himself, but is very anger prone when somebody gets under his skin...which isn't too difficult~ xP But yeah, neat that that was going to be a thing anyway~
Oh definitely, I'd love Corrin to get brought into the game at some point. As for a stat block, I suppose it just kind of depends on what kind of a CR you'd want for him. He's not an elite knight or anything, but he's certainly well trained in armed and unarmed combat, so he'd definitely be decently strong. At the party's current level, I'd say a CR of 4 would be most appropriate? But if they level up more by the time he shows up, it'd probably be more than that?
In any case, I believe we now have every CS up for now? Does this mean we're just about ready to get things started?~
Yup! Get the starting post ready as we speak! I'll look into making Corrin. Perhaps I will design him with a lot of ways to escape combat and have him be more of a commander-style figure.
First, post up. Basically, feel free to do as you please in Meridell city before you enter the castle but I had planned on the game starting with your group entering the castle as to keep things in order.
