Reya was born and raised in Sanctuary along with her identical twin sister, Riley. Up until about their 17th birthday, Reya and Riley had a fairly normal life with their two loving parents. They were raised by a stay-at-home mother who originally came from the big city, and their hard-working father who spent much of his time taking care of the family owned tavern. Things shifted dramatically when their mother was diagnosed with cancer and given only a few months to live. Their mother tried to make the best of it while their father began to spiral into a depression he would never be able to pull himself out of. Riley had always been more reckless than her minutes younger sister, Reya, but began to grow more and more rebellious as time went on. By the time their mother succumbed to her illness, their father had already been deep into drinking his life away. Months later, Reya's twin sister Riley would disappear in the night. She left a note, stating that she had to find something better than this town and their life. Suddenly, Reya was alone.
Although she often dreamt of expanding her horizons, a sense of duty to her family kept her here. While her father fell apart, Reya would step up and take care of their family legacy - The Fox Hole Tavern. Generations of Parker's had lived in Sanctuary and kept their legacy alive through the Fox Hole Tavern, having kept it under family ownership from the very first day of its opening. Reya didn't have the heart to let it fall apart before her eyes as well.
One year ago, Reya's father took his own life. It had been a shock, but Reya had felt that she lost her father long ago. Now, Reya is in full control of the tavern and does her best with it. She loves it and this town, despite everything, and intends to make the best of the cards that life has dealt her.

Lily grew up in upstate New York living an aristocratic sort of life style. Both of her parents were highly successful business people and provided Lily with everything material that she could have ever needed. Although her life was incredibly stable, her emotionally and physically unavailable parents didn't do much in the way of raising her. Her parental figures were often maids, nannies, and other staff that helped around the massive mansion they lived in.
After taking a year off of school and exploring Europe, Lily went to college at the age of 20. This is where she would meet Nathan Tucker, who would eventually become her fiancé. He was everything her parents could have hoped for. Had a good head on his shoulders, came from a reasonably well-off family, and had plans for the future. They were smitten with each other from the beginning and became engaged four years later, after they both graduated. Their engagement turned out to be extremely long, as Nathan was more focused on his business than starting a family. He had a tech company to create before he could think about anything else, which Lily tried to understand.
Five years later, at 29, they were still not married and Nathan was still focused on work. His business was successful, and Lily worked there with him. However, Lily had become increasingly unhappy over the years. Nathan ignored her much of the time and once again she felt that she was isolated and alone, as it had been with her parents. This eventually leaded to a detrimental decision on Lily's part - she cheated on him with his close business partner.
This affair didn't last long; Nathan quickly discovered the betrayal only a month later. This erupted in a fight that rapidly escalated. Nathan became aggressive and showed a side of himself that Lily had never seen before. Nathan became physically abusive after an hour or more of screaming at each other. He broke two of Lily's ribs and eventually would take a few stabs at her, connecting once along her left inner arm and side of her torso. The final moment was when he got his hands around her throat and began to strangle her.
In a panic, Lily grabbed the knife that had been dropped next to her and stabbed him several times. When he slumped to the ground, bleeding out, she went to the ground with him and stared at his lifeless body - numb. She doesn't remember how long she sat there with him, but after some time she called the police.
The trial over his death took about a month. Her parents paid the best lawyers for the case, and eventually she would be let go on the account of self defense. However, she was required to go to a psychiatric hospital for a 30 day minimum. Since the event, Lily had severe PTSD and began to exhibit delusions, paranoia, panic attacks, and occasional hallucinations. After 30 days, the psychiatric hospital prescribed her anti-psychotic meds and sent her on her way to reintegrate with the world.
Without a word to anyone, Lily impulsively packed up everything that was important to her and took a one way flight to Colorado. Nathan had talked about a small town called Sanctuary before and she had always intended to visit the place that he had once called home for a small time. Something within her told her she had to go, and so she did.

Levi was born in raised in Denver, Colorado which is about a 5 and a half hour drive from Sanctuary. He had a normal life - two loving, middle-class parents who worked their ass off for every dime. He is the eldest of four children; one brother, and two younger sisters. His parents bickered a lot, but nothing was ever a true argument - they had been high school sweethearts and still loved each other dearly. Levi and his family were very blessed, even if life had been difficult at times to keep a roof over their heads.
After college Levi went into the police academy and would graduate at the top of his class there. He got a job at the police station soon after graduation and in about two years he got invited to mentor under their lead detective. He jumped at the opportunity, excited to begin his new path in life.
Somewhere down the line Levi developed a drinking habit, partially due to all the messed up crime scenes he had to witness with his own eyes. One day, he woke up in the drunk tank without a memory of what had happened to him. Turns out he blacked out at a bar and ended up fighting one of the lead police officers on the force. His boss gave him an ultimatum: either he gets fired, or they move him to another unit. He opted for the latter and got assigned to a unit in Sanctuary, which was in need of expansion due to the increase in population recently, which always brought along an increase in crime.
To his dismay he packed up his life, sold his house in Denver, and moved out to Sanctuary - the middle of nowhere. He hated it, but he'd have to learn to love it. After all, he was the one who got himself here.

Micah Ruben Dotson grew up in Sanctuary, Colorado. He had a simple life with being an only child of a married couple. Growing up and participating in most of the events, Ruben went to summer camp at Camp Bearfoot which was cut short for him when he tried to attempt a stunt that resulted in a broken arm.
His family moved out of Sanctuary, Colorado the summer before his freshman year of high school. This caused a tunnel of bad things to happen, his parents divorced, he got a slap in the wrist from his mother, and he wasn't getting his act together till everything fell apart. Once the flood gates broke, Brenda Dotson knew she had to move her and Ruben back to Sanctuary and she did for his last year of high school.
Instantly after graduation, Ruben moved off to college. Succeeded in getting a bachelor's degree in the culinary arts and an associate's in baking and pastry work.
After graduating from university, he moved to New York because of a high-end job offer as an apprentice in the kitchen. Climbing the ladder and becoming a Deputy chef, he lived life to the fullest for a few years. He then got into a bad crowd around twenty-six and disappeared from everyone he had contact with for one and a half years. Most think he went to prison for substance abuse, his mother does, but he reappeared after that time pretty safe and healthy-looking.
Right before his twenty-eight birthday, he decided to start working at Fox Hole Tavern where he began as a full-timer. He would do anything the boss needed, cooking, busboy work, waiting on guests, etc...
Since late May of 2021, he has been the head chef at the place he works and he is loving it. Some people even comment how he smiles more which makes him smile even more.

They explained it would be a wonderful experience, and he would make many new amazing friends. They tried their best to sugarcoat the whole process and get their family to another city without issues.
Experiencing such a different place for the first time, Ruben was known as a good kid back home, but that changed in his teenage years. His parents ended up divorcing in his early teen years after the move, and he decided to live full time with his mother after his father got right into a new relationship. Ruben could be more upset than his mother at this fault, and his mother started going to church even more because of it.
His mother being single and working harder than ever, Ruben got into bad crowds and wanted to help his mother, but she wouldn't allow him to get a job. This outcome gave the young man the bright idea of selling illegal products in alleyways, parties, and anywhere he could not get caught. Being a dealer went on for months; he even would gaslight his mom and make her believe she miscounted her tip money at work.
Emotionally, he knew his mother was suffering from the divorce, the betrayal, and finances all the time. She wouldn't get out, treat herself, or make new friends. She always would say that 'God has a plan for everyone, and he's testing me' or 'I need to focus on you more than anything right now.'
She was in denial, and her son lying to her was probably not the best. Ruben ended up getting dropped off at his doorstep one night after being caught with illegal substances on him, tears in his eyes, and he was only seventeen at the time.
The cop was a lifesaver in Ruben's mother's eyes since he came in and talked to the woman for two hours about it. He ended up explaining to Ruben that if he saw him selling anything on the streets again, he wouldn't hesitate to put him behind bars.
Ruben's mother was keeping her emotions bottled up when the officer was in the home, but he left, and the watergates opened. Everything from cursing, asking God where she went wrong, and bringing up his father cheating, his mother needed answers on why her son was doing illegal things. This experience got Ruben to stop since he didn't want to disappoint his mother.
They ended up moving back to Sanctuary, Colorado. Ruben lived there till he graduated high school at 18. He instantly went to university, moving away, and trying to discover himself.
During his four years of debt building, Ruben found himself with a bachelor's in culinary and an associate's in baking and pastry. Deciding not to move home right away, Ruben stayed away from Sanctuary since he didn't want to face his mother or the rest of his family from his mess up in his teen years. He was scared of his grandparent's opinion of him, so he stayed away.

This house was built sometime in the early 1800s and has been in the Dotson family's name since. Ruben inherited the house when the divorce hit, but he didn't receive full ownership till twenty, but he had no plans for it since he was in college.
This abandonment didn't leave the house in any harsh condition, since his mother's parents would keep up on it when they could (fixing major damages.) Because they believed Ruben would move back one day, which he did. Ruben decided he liked the look of the overgrowth and never took it off, he doesn't really bring anyone here anyways and he lives in the middle of nowhere in the mountains.
Ruben will only say that he has one pet, Dingo, the german shepherd. If anyone went to his property, he has multiple stray cats that he feeds. He has even gone so far as to build tiny insulated houses that he put on the side-to-back yard of the house.
He will say that none of the animals around his place are his except Dingo, but he allows the animals to come in and out as they please through the doggy doors and has multiple occasions where he has fallen asleep on his couch petting the kittens and stray cats.
There have been occasions where stray dogs will arrive at his place. Ruben allows the dogs to stay around till missing posters appear or they leave by themselves. He might not show it or even admit it, but he feels too guilty to send them to the pound.
Technically, Ruben has three dogs, including Dingo and a dozen cats.

Louis "Lou" Dotson is officially the youngest member of the Dotson family. He tends to be a quiet kid and skeptical about new people. This behavior could have formed from being raised in a big city and having extremely busy parents that had no time for him or his brother. This caused the youngster to listen to music, especially his brother's homemade productions.
They were forcing Marcus to go to Sanctuary to get away from the city life; they decided to offload Lou onto his cousin Micah as well. Their parents were beginning to think Lou might have mental issues or development issues since he doesn't talk or care to socialize. He will sit there for hours listening to music - In reality, this behavior is because both parents don't give him enough attention. Louis "Lou" Dotson is officially the youngest member of the Dotson family. He tends to be a quiet kid and skeptical about new people. This behavior could have formed from being raised in a big city and having extremely busy parents that had no time for him or his brother. This caused the youngster to listen to music, especially his brother's homemade productions.
They were forcing Marcus to go to Sanctuary to get away from the city life; they decided to offload Lou onto his cousin Micah as well. Their parents were beginning to think Lou might have mental issues or development issues since he doesn't talk or care to socialize. He will sit there for hours listening to music - In reality, this behavior is because both parents don't give him enough attention. The Matthews have been around Sanctuary, Colorado for generations. Born and raised in Sanctuary, Jason does not know much of life outside the town. Jason seemed content with staying in the quaint, small town. His parents wanted him to move with them as multiple opportunities arose abroad; the boy resisted, pleading to be allowed to stay in Sanctuary. Eventually they acquiesced with some conditions- he was to keep the familial house clean, and to continue his education and attain a job. The boy agreed. In the years by himself, the boy has learned to clean, cook, and laundry- making him a very self-dependent individual. While he had part-time jobs, his parents sent him money for expenses.
Recently, the boy has been accepted into the Sheriff Office of Sanctuary as one of the officer trainees. With 'recent' changes coming to Sanctuary, Jacob believed in pouring assistance to the Sheriff's Office to be his plan.

Beth has only been residing in Sanctuary for the past year. She originally came from Bristol, UK. She lived a relatively well off life, with her family owning a farm. Both her parents, who are both physicians themselves decided to settle down just a year before she was born.
Though most of her childhood was a relatively normal one, a very significant turning point in her life happened at the age 13. During a family trip that she herself coaxed her parents to go to, they got into a violent accident. Beth luckily survived, sadly her parents did not. She missed the funeral after being in a 2 week coma. Just the thought of losing her parents and missing the funeral after had, and still, tormented Beth. The tragedy became one of her ultimate regrets.
A few months later while being attended to by a relative, Beth found out that she was adopted. Though this added to the pain of the recent tragedy, the news mostly left her wondering for years. At the back of her mind she was mainly curious; about what they were like, what they thought of her and wondered if she could seek them out. Probably as a way to get closure and maybe, get to know more about this other life she would've had.
At 26, Beth graduated in UCL, and for a time worked as a physician in UK. Around August 2020, Beth got a call from a woman from Colorado claiming to have knowledge of her real family, which in the years prior Beth deliberately looked for and sought out for. She waited five years to get a call and now here it was.
It turns out this woman was her aunt, and just wanted to let her know her mother was still alive. Apparently she made attempts to contact her for years but her adopted parents hid that from her. According to her aunt, her mother actively sought her out for years, kept most of her info and did some researching herself just to find out how she was doing.
Beth flew to Sanctuary, Colorado to see her biological mother, Linda, but was heartbroken to learn how terribly ill she was. She had been suffering a severe case of dementia, and have been living as a recluse for years. Their initial reunion was bittersweet but with no one to watch out for her, Beth decided to stay and live in Sanctuary, leaving her life in the UK, to care for the only family she have left, even though most of her life she was never there.

Standing tall at 6’3 even without his boots, Francis cuts a lanky, slender figure—what muscle he has is lean, the product of a once regimental but now very on again-off again exercise routine.
From his unusual style, one could easily mistake Francis for a newcomer to Sanctuary: His eclectic style of variously coloured denim jackets, chunky combat boots and all manner of flashy graphic t-shirts—most often accompanied by a pair of plain jeans, for some mundanity—conveys a distinct inability to properly assimilate, rather jarringly melding traditional Coloradoan attire with urban street fashion.
Occupation: Begrudging bartender at the Bandits’ Bar: it’s money, and that’s all Francis really cares about—something he reminds himself of whenever the local rabble get so drunk they start calling him a girl and stop actually aiming the spout of their beer bottles at their mouths.
Short Bio:
The illegitimate son of a Jewish German man and a Protestant Georgian woman, raised secular in a Colorado household, it should be of little surprise that Francis has struggled with identity since he was old enough to comprehend it.
His childhood was a troubled one: Despite his booksmarts, he was reckless and immature and often ended up in trouble with teachers for tardiness or missing homework. Like his mother when she was young, he showed a great aptitude for mathematics and science—however he rarely, if ever, applied these skills in class.
Spending much of his time in detention to make up on work incompleted, Fran had little time to connect with his peers and make friends: There were a few distant acquaintances in class, but he was seldom afforded the time to socialise further during recess. In an attempt to compensate for this, Francis quickly became the ‘class clown’, often butting heads with those in authority simply to be contrarian—and though it succeeded in garnering him attention from his peers, it simply meant he was punished more often, and ultimately kept further away from them.
At home, his relationship with his parents was strained: His mother was frequently tired and emotionally fraught for seemingly no reason, and often withdrew herself away from her husband and child. On the opposite end, Fran’s father was a constant presence in his life—though very rarely a positive one. He pressured Francis into more traditional masculinity, shunning his interests in technology and music pushing sports and working with his hands.
This, of course, had the opposite effect that Fran’s father had hoped for: The child became further atomised from his family, distrusting them and withdrawing into introversion. Alone, and bearing witness to the far more functional families of his peers, a resentment stewed in Francis: For his parents moving away from the bright lights of the city to some dying hick town and shutting him out, and for himself—after all, no one just decides to block a person out like that. What if it was his fault? The flames of misanthropy scorched his self-esteem, further damaging his ability to socialise: It was difficult to make friends when he thought so lowly of himself, and expected others to strike for his perceived imperfections.
Now a young teenager, Fran frequently snuck out of the house to entertain himself—and not always through legal means, as his parents would learn when he was escorted home by a police officer after being suspected of shoplifting. He had been hanging around with local gangs of rabble, from home more broken than his own—sons and daughters of ex-convicts reluctant to change. In the moment, he didn’t care what they were doing: He just belonged somewhere, for once, and that was enough.
Until he was caught, and they sold him out to save their own skin.
Many regrettable things were said that night, and many breaking points reached—chiefly among them was Francis learning that his father was, in reality, his stepfather: He was conceived illegitimately by his mother and another man who abandoned her. Coming from a locally famous conservative Christian household in Georgia, she had no choice but to flee when her parents found out—running off with someone she could trust—that being Fran’s stepfather—to a quiet town where she wouldn’t be recognised.
The morning after, Francis’ parents realised their mistake: Over the coming weeks, they attempted to mend their relationships with him, and over the coming months, they realised they had been neglecting his emotional needs. Their efforts were first in vain, though showed some tenuous success as he got older—but Fran had made his decision: He was going to stop sitting around and wasting his potential, and start learning. He was going to seize the opportunity his parents never could, and get the hell out of Colorado—a city, he thought, like California or Minneapolis, or even New York—the city his parents had left behind.
Part of it was anger at them. Part of it was an inability to face the guilt being a burden on them brought, ruining their lives over his mere existence—but Francis chose not to think about that, and began working.
Now in his early 20’s, Fran (barely) holds down a job to make some money on the side while he pursues his passions—computer science and engineering—at home, hoping to break out of Sanctuary and head off to university. But something’s holding him back: A part of him is missing, and though he longs for it, he can’t quite bring himself to leave the town that has been his home for so long.
Despite appearances, or preconceived notions those in Sanctuary might have of the ruffian Francis was (and, in little ways, is), he is surprisingly affable: Residents around his age may remember him being particularly easy to talk to in school, and that certainly hasn’t changed. Ever the charmer, he revels in entertaining and making others laugh, but can also prove an excellent listener when someone—usually a customer at Bandits’—needs to vent or complain.
Beyond simple social interactions, however, it can be difficult to get Francis to trust you: Though he may not be open about it, he tends to prepare for the worst and thus struggles with unintentionally putting up walls around himself. Short Bio
Nia was born and raised in a small rural town in Canada as an only child to a loving mother and father. Nia’s mother struggled constantly with an illness that caused her chronic pain, and as a result, Nia was not often afforded the luxury of the quality time a child typically spends with their parents. Nia filled this void herself with literature, diving into story after story in an effort to remove herself from the situation when things became too grim to bear, although she always put on a happy face and did her best for her parents. This instilled in Nia a dream of becoming a novelist, her primary goal in life, in an attempt to become one of the idols she looked up to in her youth.
Nia was a somewhat reclusive, unorthodox type in her schooling days, often treated poorly by her peers and taking solace all the same in literature, passing her exams with flying colours in any subject where essay writing was concerned. She scarcely made much of an effort to make friends due to her poor treatment at her peers’ hands, ruthlessly bullied for her love of reading amongst other things, sticking out like a sore thumb and spending many lunch periods secluded in a teacher’s classroom or the library, the teachers being some of the few who showed her kindness.
Nia struggled with the idea of leaving her hometown for university, but saw no other option, her life at home weighing on her despite her persistent optimism. As a result, she departed from the United States, getting her degree in English and going on to move to a small town in Colorado by the name of Sanctuary, perhaps against her best interests. Having now been a teacher in Sanctuary for just under a year, Nia realises that she has neglected her true dream of becoming an author somewhere along the way, and now seeks to balance a backbreaking work life with her deepest aspiration, both for herself, her family, and children just like she once was the whole world over.
