Good to see you're interested from the int check post.
I think what you say is about right- your approach will help though for sure. It's more game-like and if anything, takes inspiration from DnD and plays it a little more loose. It's a bit more action film absurdity and allows for even a few ideas from spy-fi, sci-fi and technology that allow basically things to go to the next level than a regular silly military RP- upping the stakes and the characters that have to follow that level of bravado. It's fairly real though- and while not being critical in the geopolitical sense, it "feels" familiar that it would be close enough to our world, and the places aren't totally science fiction.
Happy to have you take another medium- you're welcome to take it how you like, the class description is a rough starting point but you can do a lot with it.
CS accepted- just finish up Likes/Dislikes and it's rock and roll.
IC post is incoming in 30 minutes! It's a long one so don't feel the need to mirror me- I've got to start with the world building and giving you all an idea of Raven Squad's home, though of course that will get developed out over time.
I've put Skye in the rec room (kinda set it up as the team having food together and maybe some drinks after a job well done) - and Laura in the gym doing what heavies do best- being complete gym bros. Pick one of those and it should roll into a setting where the team comes together. Alternatively- have them do something really silly, I mean if they want to skydive in or do something wild, be my guest.
It's a heavier post but it's a nice opportunity to let the banter flow- our team knows each other a little but not deeply, so they're getting to know the quirks and weird-ities of each other (and very much what they are pulled to and not so much...)
As I hint there, there's a lot of room for what you want
Appearance: Mazi is built lean, but muscular. She puts in hours at the gym and is quite focused in her training. She has been training in Krav Maga since the day she first joined the Israeli Defense Force at age 18. At 5’ 7” she is average height, but tall enough to provide her decent strength, balance, and agility.
Her photos do not do her justice as most of her muscular gains have been acquired in the past two or three years. She prefers to wear comfortable clothing like sweatpants, T-shirts and running shoes. She knows how to dress up for a night in a major city using her natural beauty to garner favor with men when necessary. Her hazel eyes and dirty blonde hair can be difficult for some men to resist.
Nationality: Israeli
Callsign: Ha-ze'ev (Grey Wolf)
Skills:
Translator. Mazi was born speaking Hebrew and English. Due to their proximity to Arabs, she learned to speak the Arabic language as well. After joining the IDF, she learned to speak Farsi and has been studying Russian and Mandarin Chinese as well. She knows a smattering of French, German and Italian.
Small Arms Specialist. Due to her time in the IDF and more importantly, the Sayeret Matkal AKA: General Staff Reconnaissance Unit 262 she is familiar with just about all small arms weapons on the planet. Her expertise lies more with Israeli and Russian built weapons.
Explosives Specialist. Mazi received specialized training in the use of various explosives including their detonation devices, detonation cord and fuse cord. She has learned how to establish and use various flame field expedient techniques. Her training included visually evaluating physical structures from a civil engineering perspective to determine how much C4 or other form of explosives would be needed to either weaken, disable, or destroy a structure. Her training included the manufacture of handheld devices containing booby traps concealed to appear like harmless tools in our daily lives.
Close Quarters Battle / Close Quarters Combat. Krav Maga is taught to every member of the IDF. They are introduced to this hand-to-hand combat system during Basic Combat Training. The elite units are taught more advanced techniques used to help them disarm and disable a potential opponent and multiple opponents at once. The Krav Maga principle of always advancing into a fight has become second nature for Mazi Zamiyr.
Sniper. Mazi attended the IDF sniper school, excelling at hitting targets at a distance. Her preferred weapon is the Israeli built Dan .338 caliber bolt action rifle. She can perform the role of spotter, sniper or surveillance using her optics.
History: Born in the seaside city of Haifa to parents who have been employed in government work for most of their lives. Her father maintains a reserve commission in the IDF as a Colonel. Her mother had at one time been a member of a Mossad intelligence gathering squad but is now a legal secretary in the Haifa District Courts.
At age 18, Mazi was conscripted into the Israeli Defense Force. She excelled in academics in school and had the personality to fit in with new situations. She has a very flexible mindset, choosing Infantry for her occupational specialty initially. Mazi loves the challenge of physical training, instructions on various weapons, and the conduct of small unit tactics. She is knowledgeable of both squad and platoon level operations.
After her obligatory conscription time in service ended, she asked for training in the special forces and became a permanent member of the IDF. She completed this training providing a familiarization to every weapon used on the planet, how to use explosives, physical assessments of Civil Engineering structures, as well as how to speak Farsi. She has been learning Russian and Chinese due to her time with General Staff Reconnaissance Unit 262 or more commonly known as Sayeret Matkal.
Her time in Sayeret Matkal helped to improve her language arts, small arms knowledge, tactical proficiency, CQB/CQC, hand to hand combat and sniper training. In this unit she has also received training in how to call indirect fire from artillery and close air support aircraft.
Mazi has enjoyed her time in the IDF, but two years ago decided she wanted to leave the IDF and head in a different direction. She left the IDF at the rank of Samal Rishon (Staff Sergeant). After 10 years with the Israeli army, Mazi was tested for and joined Raven Squad where she was introduced to some intriguing futuristic technology that completely thrilled her.
Mazi was always someone to think outside the box. For her, doing things in a traditional manner or the way things have always been done was not challenging enough. She always looked for more creative ways to complete a task. It helped to create a sense of accomplishment and ownership. It provided her with self-esteem; an unshakeable confidence that motivated her to work efficiently and effectively.
Personality: Mazi has both an active and adaptable personality. She does not get fixed on one thing; her mind does wander with creative ideas which for some, this appears wishy-washy. Mazi is very amiable, friendly to all, and some find her charm captivating. Mazi is both charismatic, drawing others to her and discreet, remaining silent about issues when necessary. Good judgement is necessary in making these determinations. Mazi is optimistic about the future and has low tolerance for pessimistic people. She can be fun loving and may appear to have a “bad” attitude from time to time operating in a less than careful manner. So far, her reckless attitude has not killed herself or any of her colleagues. She refers to them as acceptable risks.
Tactical Suit: Mazi wears the camouflage uniform worn by the IDF when in the appropriate climate. She has other uniforms available for various climates as well as an all-black uniform for urban operations. Mazi chooses the Yakeda Phantom Modular Tactical Vest Plate Carrier Vest for her use along with the Blackhawk Tactical holster along the right side of her thigh. When she wears a helmet, it is the High Cut Ballistic Combat Helmet with Night Observation Device (NOD) mounted on the front.
Weapons: Mazi has a large collection of weapons at her disposal and will carry only those weapons (3) she needs for a specific operation. The following is a list of weapons in her personal arsenal.

Hobbies: When Mazi is not participating in training or exercise, she enjoys going to parties, out to clubs, get togethers with friends, bike riding, hiking, sunbathing in the nude, reading mysteries and mountain climbing.
Likes: Mazi likes cherry cheesecake, swimming in the ocean, being with friends, puzzles, polite people—good manners (at least when they are new to her), fun people (friends she has known for a while and don’t need to be polite anymore), comedy shows—funny people, magic shows, American music (soft rock, pop, r&b & some country), German automobiles, puppies, the beach, and more…
Dislikes: Mazi does not like rude people, unless she has known them for a while. She is loyal. She does not care for rap music, heavy metal, most country music or classic rock. Excessive waiting, people who do not live up to their promises, liars and carnies (carnival barkers). Having grown up in the middle east, she does not like cold or snowy weather. She is OK with rain, but not the subzero weather of Scandinavia.
I just read Skye over. She doesn't appear to be too different. There are obvious differences; at least in taste of music, but some areas are similar. I forgot about the exoskeletal suit. I guess these are similar to the ones used by Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt's characters in Edge of Tomorrow.
Shit, totally forgot to mention something about the staffing on the island - I've added it into the IC! (TLDR there's a few support staff NPCs on the other side of the isle including an engineering, vehicle maintainance, logistics and general purpose signal intel team, stuff gets brought in periodically- that includes everything the team needs.)
I'd put them more a blend of the "Pilots" from Titanfall 2 (whose setup for combat/lore I fucking adore) - and perhaps the exos from COD Advanced Warfare on top of what you mention. Pretty much the idea of a character that can carry a fuckload of momentum but still carry a decent arsenal- the exo basically just helping to lift the weight that comes with taking a versatile loadout.
Bit of a filler post to get Skye to interact with everyone coming in- there's no real post order so feel free for the moment to keep it free-flowing. I'll let everyone get a shout in before posting again :)
