If anyone would like to collaborate on a post, I am game. We could spar or conduct training or just have conversation. IRL, I have a black belt in Krav Maga. I probably own a dozen Krav T-shirts.

Honestly it might not be bad to get a docs up for a more fluid back and forth in convo or something similar like say a battle between David and goliath. :3

My Creative Writing teacher in High School used to tell us to write about what you know. When I was 17, I thought to myself, 'I don't know anything that I want to write about.' So, I wrote up a list of things I want to do in order to acquire experiences I could someday write about.

Goals Accomplished
- spent 21 years in the US Army / Army National Guard retiring as an infantry officer.
- worked as a Police Officer for 12 years.
- earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science / AS in Criminal Justice.
- earned a black belt in Krav Maga. I was planning to go for 2nd Degree but was injured just before the
train up. I dropped out and then the Pandemic hit.

So here I am writing about chit I know something about. ;)

@Gunther I'm interested, some part of the story I'll post might involve my character to have some bouts with a simulated AI robot in the training room (or NPC, or even minor character I'm controlling, I don't know if I can add one @FourtyTwo); but maybe we can have some exchange of practice bout with our characters. Su-Cheong will be the one learning, or rather dominated lol.

How do you think the narrative structure gonna work for that? I mean, our characters will move in sequence based on the response of the opposing party. Su-Cheong might gonna jab and hook in three parts at once, followed by a knee strike, then a throw and maybe a submission, but that won't work if in mid-combo, her opponent manages to counter or evade.

There are two ways to set up the structure. The first way, traditional writing method, opponent 1 throws a punch or a kick. opponent 2 defends the thrown punch and decides whether it lands or not. This method relies on honesty and integrity on the participants. The second way, gaming method, both writers agree on a method of determining advantages in rolling dice. I prefer to use the FATE dice systems simply because most of the outcomes are near average. Only during extreme (lucky/unlucky) situations do the dice favor or unfavor the person rolling the dice. Both writers designate certain abilities with Die Roll Modifiers (DRMs) to weight certain abilities.
Take a look at my gaming rules in this post here. The combat rules are just over halfway down the post.

Not really too worried- but I do want to move things along into the first op after the first few back-and forths in the rec room (keeping maybe to one or two scenes of what you guys have just discussed may be wise). With any PVE I'll sort out balancing, but safe to say, I will throw plenty of curveballs into the mix- you guys between yourselves can manage yourselves, play fair :)

We don't have to take time for a sparring match or training session. You set the pace. If you have a job for us, let's rock it!

I'd say hold back on it for the moment if that's okay - don't want to kill the vibe but just as everyone's melding together I'll put something in :)

btw, how long does it usually take for one without military background to get qualified as a special force operator and assigned for missions in such nature? Maybe also what's the youngest age ever had such degree of qualification?

yea, I'm asking about the non-classified ones, of course :D

IRL? Years and years, and a hell of a lot of training (to put it lightly!)

Su-Cheong would be different in regards to the fact that she probably had gangland experience before, and you seem to have played that in the way she can behave and work as a quieter operative- to get into the team she's probably fairly exceptional at what she does, even if the experience of years may not be there Skye has a recognition of talent.

I can only speak for the US Army. In order to enter the Special Forces, you must already be at the rank of Sergeant (E5). Depending on your Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), this could be anywhere from 3-6 years. Once you are an E5, you attend the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQ) at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center (JFK-SWC) at Ft. Bragg, NC. Depending on which MOS you choose, your training will take 56 - 95 weeks before you are qualified in SF. Take a read of this.

If you wanted to go through Ranger School, you can enlist as an 11B Infantryman at Ft. Benning, GA. 11B course is 14 Weeks long. Once you graduate from Basic Combat Training and Infantry School, you then go to Airborne School. For enlisted soldiers this is 4 weeks (0 Week, Ground Week, Tower Week and Jump Week). Once you qualify as a parachutist, you would then attend Ranger school which is roughly 9 weeks long. There are four phases; Camp Darby, Dahlonega, GA (Mountain); Ft. Bliss or Ft. Hood, TX (Desert) and Eglin AFB, FL (Jungle). Graduate from Ranger and get sent to one of the three Ranger Battalions. From the time you enter the Army to the time you are qualified as an Airborne Ranger is about 30 weeks if you add in the time spent waiting around for training to begin.

Rangers are the masters of patrolling
SF serves two missions: Direct action (combat raids and surveillance) and training Host nation troops or rebel troops of a nation the US has good relations with or poor relations with.

I'm writing for my IC at the moment, another background exploration for the readers and maybe add a little more interaction with other characters; not going that far from the current set

@FourtyTwoHow long has this crew been together? I may have written Mazi joined Raven two or three years ago. Do they know each other? How familiar are we with one another?

@Gunther

I've said that Mexico was their second op- so they're fairly new but built on the back of a team that has existed for a while. They're fairly well gelled, but this RP will probably contain them gelling in closer, going from a group of oddballs to a tight-knit family.
