The flight was almost over, and Lucian could barely smile as the team began to talk more. He understood they had been cooped up in a small cabin for the last few hours trying to figure out this unsub before they landed and now, they were ready to burst out the doors and get to work. Agent Stannis began to talk, so he put his attention on her. Somewhat hastily, the agent asked about talking to law enforcement and not having any interest in going through files - glancing over to Agent Aguilar when these words were said. He wanted to catch the mist of her emotions on this if there were any. Though, he noticed quickly that the young woman was sleeping and he couldn’t help that half attempted to smile to grow a bit more - the old days, he thought.
Quickly putting his attention back to dark beauty in the cabin, he shook his head, “You can go talk to law enforcement, but I doubt they have much to say,” he informed the team as a whole even though he was talking directly to Stannis. His main concern about this situation was how law enforcement was trying to deal with it.

Currently, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin only three out of the twenty-two officers they have on the job and call for the local police department was working on this case. The only reason that the sheriff called the Bureau in was that he practically didn’t want to deal with it or waste his men on a wild goose chase. The police department including the head has shown disputes of wanting to deal with such evidence, which Lucian couldn’t blame them, but he was somewhat suspicious that they were already so negative towards the case. “Law enforcement might be difficult to make conversation with. The sheriff practically stated that he was calling us in so he wouldn’t have to waste his time,” Lucian decided to tell Samantha, so she knew what she was getting into.

Lucian was going to try his best to keep an eye on Agent Aguilar since she has never been out of the walls of the government building. This event was her first out-of-town mission, and he was out-of-town going to stand by and watch it go downhill for her. The chief always tried his best to make cases go smoothly for first-timers, not giving them too much pressure, and trying to warm them up to the fieldwork that the job was so graciously entitled to.

When the young agent began to question why Lucian seemed to silently fall into a neutral expression. Why? Why does anyone do anything out of the blue? Running a hand through his hair, he thought before he spoke, and his words were at a lower volume, “Chris, you will realize that asking that question will haunt you more than answer anything in this line of work. Why do you do what you do? To these people, it is the same as waking up in the morning or participating in a family reunion. To you, me, and the majority of others it is murder, pain, and mixed emotions,” he glanced down at the floor while thinking about what he said. Should he say more? This caused him to begin to play with his wedding ring, a common sign that older agents who worked with him a lot knew he was trying to think without overthinking.
Something causes this unsub a great deal of stress, most likely in the past week. It could have been, from what Thoreau said, the maternal figure in his life committed suicide or something bad happened to her. It could be that he is going through a psychotic break,” gesturing with his hand to take it away from his ring, since he was conscious of his habit, “-it could be many different things,” he sighed at the thought. Most of the time, one would not figure out why someone started doing what they did and that was one of the many curses to discover in this line of work.

Clearing his throat, "If you want, I will help you look through files," he offered, so Chris at least felt as if she could ask for help if needed. He didn't need to go to the medical examiner's office, since he knew Thoreau would report back with great details.

"I'm stubborn enough to make anyone talk..." She chuckled and leaned back, crossing her legs casually as she relaxed her posture, thinking a little. "Nothing I haven't handled before is my bet sir." She half smiled at Lucian with a small nod. Sam was confident in her skills, just studying the micro-expressions on their faces and inflections in their tones. Something so simple yet so effective in just telling the locals just enough of what they want to hear to gain cooperation. Beginner techniques but incredibly effective.

"Chris, I hate to sound like this person, but talking yourself out of those lingering questions is what helps keep us a bit sane." She shrugged, looking at her teammate with a slightly sympathetic expression. She had to remind herself on occasion that Chris was still green, she was still learning the ropes around the team, and being in the B.A.U. in general. "I used to ponder over the meaning of life constantly when I first started. I used to question in they were doing it for fun, or seriously disturbed.... I would go over old cases, read interviews about Manson, the Green River Killer, Dahmer- anyone notorious. I wanted to get inside their brain and I started to lose mine in the process. It's..." she paused, thinking of the correct word to explain how bad it can get if you don't let things go after a while.

"Dangerous is the word I want, I think?" She tilted her head, mulling over her words one more time. "Yeah, it can get dangerous if you don't separate work from home. I've seen the Bureau counselor more than once." She admitted, glancing at Lucian as the words came out of her mouth. Her mind began to remember a particularly tough case that they had been on, one involving children and it was back when she and Ben were just thinking about starting a family. She had baby fever- like any woman trying to conceive and this particular case hit her the hardest that year. She had been on cases involving children before, but she wasn't on that family mindset yet and every twist and turn on that case had her rethink everything: even staying a field agent.

Chris Aguilar
Criminal Psychologist

With how Lucian put it, it didn’t seem like the local police forces were going to be of much help. Hopefully, this attitude wasn’t a common occurrence. The records would be a mess, or worse – useless, if that was the case. Chris would be more than grateful if her away-from-home case went smoothly, but the world didn’t revolve around her… not to mention, life has a way of throwing curveballs. She stretched her body as she yawned out the last bits of drowsiness inside her. Sam probably would get the brunt of the uncooperativeness, but knowing her, I’d better to pray for the officers who’ll face her, she thought.

Getting lectured by “mom” and “dad” was the last thing Chris wanted before starting a case, not that it was uncommon, but this was slightly different from the usual. Annoyance was apparent on her face, not that her colleague wouldn’t be able to tell even if she tried to hide it. With how little societal experience Chris had, she had the maturity of a teenager still. She didn’t think her questions would hit a landmine. She knew they’d worked in this line of work long enough to know what’s best, but she couldn’t help but blink away the eyeroll that was threatening to come out. She was a psychologist before an agent. Asking the whys were a main part of how she was trained to think. Of course, she knew to separate her work and life. She wasn’t obsessed. She was just… solving a puzzle.

Lucian offered to accompany her, probably to look after her green ass, especially with the landmine she just triggered. “Only if they have enough files for two people.” Chris really doubted quantity and quality of the administrative work done by a Sheriff who thought investigating murders clearly done by a serial killer was a waste of time.

Chris glanced at Joseph, hoping the old man would refrain from adding on to the lecture. As much as she was irked by Ray’s flamboyant personality, or annoyed with how demure Darin seemed, she wished they were here as well. There was just something about all being new to the team that made her feel closer to them in an odd way. Maybe it was the fact that they still hadn’t been through the worst the job had to offer yet. To be fair, the tech-guy never went out of the office, but Darin… “Hate to change the topic, Chief,” there was as much apology in her voice as there was sugar in black coffee, “but what about our teammates who didn’t catch the flight?”

There were quite a few things that Samantha brought up that he agreed with, but he wasn't going to try to father Chris anymore than what he did by speaking up. Everyone has their way of coping with the realization of how this career works out, and he was not one to judge when it came down to it - he wouldn't be surprised if one of the newer members would have a breakdown sometime in the next couple of cases or weeks. All newcomers have some break sooner or later, not many going past six months without one, especially field agents.

Nodding his head when Chris declared she could handle it unless they had enough files for two people. He understood she wanted to prove herself in the field, and he would let her do so. "If you need help, call me, okay?" leaving it as a question, so he knew she understood that she could call him whenever.
Lucian was maybe known to be more of a father-figure character when it came down to caring for his team. For almost a decade, he has helped past coworkers seek help or resources even before the promotion to Unit Chief.

Along with cases and team members, he remembered this one young field agent that he helped move to a different department in the Bureau. The kid kept trying to pull through all the thick and thin of the job, and it was devolving his mental state. Lucian received multiple late-night phone calls along with the agent showing up at his house to talk about life. He would not be surprised if at least one new agent tried to confide in him or one of the older members of the team.

Fully understanding why the young agent wanted to change the topic, he allowed it without saying anything. She brought up the teammates that missed the flight and shrugged his shoulders. "They are new and not used to the late-night phone calls. Both of them are probably heavy sleepers still," he mentioned in a more joking way at the thought of Darin and Ray not flinching to their phones going off. Though they were younger men, so he would be surprised if they were sleeping around 10 pm.

"In all seriousness, Darin and Ray will probably work together back at headquarters unless Darin wants to catch the next flight, bus, or vehicle out here. There is always the next case," he stated while adjusting himself in his seat.
Thinking about it, "I don't know if I could handle Ray being around that much on a case. He's quite distracting," the chief added, which was not a lie. The young man was flamboyant and constantly distracted himself if there was not a solid goal for him.

As he walked into Quantico, there was only one thing on Darin's mind. "I really screwed the pooch this time...." As he carried his go bag beside him his eyes darted around for any sign of his team being here, and so far he was seeing nothing. He had decided to call it an early night on the last day of the long weekend, as to get a refreshing start back at work as a way to counter the late nights he spent prior in the weekend, and with his meds he managed to do just that. Fifteen minutes before the text from Lucian came in. Talk about rotten luck. He got into the elevator and pressed the button for their floor and would watch the doors close. his mind raced with the possibilities, has he kept them all waiting for him to arrive? Or have they already left to do the job without him? Either way, he was going to beat himself up over it, squeezing the stress ball in his free hand repeatedly as he anxiously waited for the elevator doors to part and let him see the results of his attempted good deed. As he stepped out of the elevator and made his way to the glass doors of the decently sized room where they all worked, he would see the remnants of evidence that his team was here, but have gone. Seeing the ring of water upon Sam's desk, likely condensation from the heat of a hot cup of coffee. He let out a dejected sigh as he moved over to his desk and plopped himself down in his chair, running a hand over his face in annoyance at himself. He then looked over his deck, noticing the case file, he dropped his bag and opened the case file to read it over.

Lacerations on the wrists and ankles of both women, found in their bathtubs filled with water, a dot drawn on the upper lip, along with the similar looks and age range. This unsub certainly had a type.... It got him thinking. Why restraints? If this unsub was male, usually they use their physical strength to subdue their target as a show of power and dominance over them, but using restraints gives off a different impression, at least to him. Before he could delve further into his own thoughts however, he remembered that he should probably call the chief to let him know that he was in fact alive and explain his reasoning for his absence. He put the file down and pulled out his phone and after going into his contact list, he pressed the button to call Lucian. "Please don't be upset and fire me, please don't be upset and fire me....." Darin whispered to himself as he stood up and began pacing, his hand holding the phone to his ear, while his other arm was crossed under his elbow, squeezing the stress ball every few moments. Darin knew Lucian was pretty chill overall, but then again, work is work and if Darin isn't with them for the job then he was worried he wasn't going to last long if he misses stuff like this again.

A sad smile crossed Joseph's lips as Chris was lightly berated by their two colleges in regards to the question of motive. It was rare for the veteran agents to disagree, especially so adamantly, but Joseph was not on the same page as either Lucian or Agent Stannis in this situation. There was a value to determining motive, it could be the difference between continuing to be reactive to the unsub or finally being proactive enough to get ahead of them.

"I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss motive," Joseph warned, winking towards Chris in a manner that communicated he had her back. "I realize, more so than most," Joseph added knowing that his past was well known with both of the agents he had worked with prior to Chris' arrival. "Asking 'why' can haunt a person, but if we can get inside the Unsub's head, see the world as they see it, that could be our ticket to ensuring we don't end up with another body."

"Dr. Auiglar is a trained psychologist, if you have an ace up your sleeve, you use it." If Lucian was 'Team Dad', then Joseph was the 'Cool Grandpa'. If anyone on the team was going to entertain a new idea or technique, it was likely going to be Joseph. While he might have been perfectly content to be rigid and ruled in his personal life, he knew the people they chased often weren't. Any additional insight was always a welcome asset.

Speaking of assets, Joseph was surprised at how lax Lucian was towards their missing agents. While he understood that Ray primarily, and for the benefit of all, worked remotely. There was little excuse for Darin having missed the call. If only all the new agents could follow Chris' example a bit closer.

Uh oh.... Sam struck a bit of a nerve with that one. She didn't mean to but just Chris' evolving body language and tone were enough to make anyone see that she had stepped a little too far. "Chris.... I apologize. I didn't mean to overstep anything. I get a little gung ho about giving new recruits advice, and you are more than free to shut me down if I begin to ever get on my soap box." She apologized quietly, not wanting to make a big show about it. She felt bad that she had overstepped that line, and wanted to rectify her mistake as well as she could manage before really getting this case underway.

With an apologetic smile, Sam turned away from Chris to face the rest of the team, thinking about Ray and Darin. She almost had wanted Ray for this trip- despite his endless energy and fast cadence to his speech- he was a good kid. A kid nonetheless to Sam's eyes but a good one. She breathlessly chuckled to herself thinking about their first meeting when he gave everyone their own personal compliment and she shook her head at the memory, thinking to herself that the kid sure knew how to make an entrance.

"So how bad are we going to troll Darin for this?" she asked the team with a light chuckle. It wasn't like him to miss much, he was also young but a decent part of the team. Sam enjoyed having him along on cases, he provided a fresh perspective sometimes. Like she was sure Chris would as she got used to being out in the field with them. "Or will be he let off the hook since it was Memorial Day weekend?" She arched a brow at Lucian, wanting to hear his perspective in his lack of team this flight. If she was here with a family, then he could've been here as well. Hell Chris came after drinking and she was on time.

Lucian decided it was best to remove himself from the conversation when Thoreau joined and Stannis began to apologize to Chris. He had nothing to apologize for, in his eyes, but he understood that he could have been coming on a bit too strong for the recruit. Though he has seen recruits begin to get into the domino effect of ‘why’ before putting their notice in before passing six months or getting to a year because of this job - he wouldn’t blame Chris if she couldn’t handle this line of work. Sometimes he considered the fact that he couldn’t handle it either and he has been in the business for over a decade.

The team started talking about Darin more, and he seemed to tighten up a bit. Lucian was trying to hide his dissatisfaction with the young man not showing. He understood it was Memorial Day weekend, parties were happening, but Chris came to work on time after a bit of fun. He would be lying if he didn’t say he had a hangover that was bothering him from yesterday. He didn’t find not arriving on time for any reason to be an excuse. The kid could have shown up fifteen, twenty, or 30 minutes late and would have made it.

Lucian gave that known sideways look at Stannis when she asked if he was going to be let go. It was practically a death glare, “I am going to talk to him in my office when we get back to Quantico,” A faint smile appeared which was a sign of him trying to cover up what he was feeling about it. “Forget about Darin right now, focus on the case,” he stated before his phone started to ring.

Staring at the phone, he let it ring about halfway into all of its rings before voicemail and picked the phone up, “Darin,” his voice sounded strict and gruff, similar to how he talked to local police and sheriffs when they were trying to step over him or not cooperative for the victims and their families sake.
What was his plan for this phone call? Lucian was going to get down to the point. “I noticed that you were not on the plane,” he was not going to give Darin much of an option to talk at first but listen. “You will be working alongside Ray on this mission, listen to him, he will be your boss till I get back. Help him do his research and everything else and we will have a talk in my office upon arrival in Quantico. Hopefully, that sounds good?” He left his little paragraph of words with a question at the end to leave it open if Darin had anything to say.
Everyone knew that putting Ray in charge of anything was not the best idea, it would stroke his ego, and be his favorite topic of the week. Along with knowing that putting Ray in charge was most likely a bad idea, everyone knew that it was one simple way that Lucian could punish Darin for missing the call.

As the Unit Chief, he needed to be strict and remind the recruits that this was a job that they were on call for. He understood that it was aggravating, but he has been called in during many difficult, embarrassing, and unforgettable situations throughout his time at the B.A.U. Lucian was trying his best to not scare any of the recruits away before the year was up.

Darin would hear the tone of voice that came through, and his entire complexion paled visibly, even as he wasn't on the plane, he knew he was in deep shit with his superior. He shut his mouth and listed to him carefully as he was instructed to help Ray. And that he was to be his boss for the day.... Well shit. Honestly he wasn't sure what else to expect. He knew they weren't going to come back for him. But he didn't like the idea of working under Ray. Don't get him wrong, he likes the guy, but he just knew that this would inflate his ego far more than he cared to keep track of. But he then let go of the breath that he had been holding in as Lucian finished telling him what he wanted him to do. "Yes sir.... I didn't mean to miss the flight, I went to bed early to try and get a good start after the long weekend, and so, I apologize for this entire situation I have troubled you with. And tell the others I'm sorry for the trouble too... You know how to reach me if you need me..." Darin was very much dejected and also upset with himself that this is what it's come too, he was definitely getting fired for this. He hung up after those words and took a seat at his desk, putting his hands to his face as he rubbed the entirety of his face. Ten months in and already he was messing up.

He then looked towards the case file as he pulled it over and got up from his seat. Well he better get started, after all, if he was going to make it up to them then he was going to need to work, and work HARD. Maybe when he hears that they are coming back he should get them some food to maybe lessen the harsh stares? But they would definitely see right through that.... Ugh he hated it when he screwed up, he felt like a moron every time he did. Even if it was small, he was always harsh on himself. During all this thought he didn't realize that he had already arrived to Ray's door to enter his little lair of mechanical magic. He took a deep breathe and closed his eyes, raised his fist, and knocked on the door three times, and awaiting an answer.... If he was even in right now. Maybe he'd be lucky and Ray was not here.... Though that would be very troubling if that were the case. No matter what Darin thought up to get himself out of this mess it was always just an equally bad option, yeah, he was in deep with this rabbit hole.

Lucian did not want to be tough on others, especially in the hours of new cases being accepted. Everyone had difficult times when a new case came in, even if it wasn’t personal, it still bothered you in some way. Hearing the click on the call end caused him to sigh, exaggerated, as he decided to remove himself from the group and sit the farthest that he could on the plane away from everyone else.

He knew that Darin was new, but the agent was also ten months old on this career path, he wouldn’t be missing, but he understood that the young man had a routine - everyone did. Some people wouldn’t get used to the random call-ins till after the first year. Staring at the window, he was thinking of Darin and what he needed to talk to him about when they all got back to Quantico.

Getting back to Quantico was not going to be far away. This killer was right in the heart of Milwaukee and targeted specific women. In his opinion, they were going to find the predator fast since it seemed like he was devolving and evolving at the same time. Yes, the individual was starting to form a whole file for himself.

Ray, having his own office space to work on his magic; programming, hacking, and more for the team's benefit could hide easily over a weekend. The young man was recently kicked out of his room that he was subleasing from a friend over stupid arguments - he might have left more than got kicked out last Wednesday.
Deciding to move a chaise into the room on Thursday night when everyone else was either at home or not paying attention. He has been living in his office since then while searching for studio or one-bedroom apartments for cheap.

Why was Ray kicked out or left by choice? His roommate was the complete opposite of how he wanted to keep his living space. Never getting diagnosed with Obsessive-compulsive disorder or Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder; he most likely had one of those when it came to how spotless his workplace was and living area.
He was sleeping in the office when a knock on the door could be heard and instantly panicked. Looking at the door, he sat up and thought about his decisions before stepping out of the make-shift bed he had for himself, “Who is it?” His voice was a bit shaky. Anxiety? He was worried that the person who was knocking was either the Unit Chief or Section Chief. Scrambling to fix up the place to make it look like he was not sleeping where he was just sleeping.

Walking over, he opened the door in somewhat of an odd fashion to hide what was behind him. “Oh, it’s you. What’s up?” Ray was completely out of the loop. He hadn’t even checked his phone to see that they got a call, so he was on the same page as Darin. The only difference between them was that Ray wasn’t usually hopping on the plane to the scene. Once his nerves settled upon the appearance of Darin, Ray could only smile.

Once that door opened Darin looked at Ray with a raised brow. Having heard the the shaky voice from earlier. Why would he have any reason to be Anxious? Regardless, he didn't come here to question Ray's voice. Rather, to inform him as to what was going to happen. "Hey Ray. I assume you are already working on the case, I.... Missed the call, and as such everyone is already gone and I have been tasked to help you do what you need done. In other words, your my boss until the others get back." Darin explained it as clear cut as he could, he knew Ray would likely get a kick out of this. However he noticed the odd way he went about opening the door, seeing as he could barely see past him, which he found to be strange, Ray hardly seemed like the secretive type. Maybe he caught him at a bad time? Regardless he knew they had work to do so whatever Ray may have been doing would have to be put on hold. "May I come in so we can get to work?"

Darin held the case file in one hand while his other hand held the stress ball he often had on him, periodically squeezing it as he thought about both the case, and his likely upcoming punishment when the Chief gets back from their trip. Oh the thought sent shivers down his spine, he really didn't want to lose this job, he was so close to getting past his first year! Darin was very stressed about these things, even if he knew he had to try and focus on the task at hand, and that task meant figuring out more of this unsubs methods and why he was suddenly on the attack. He then brought the case file up and opened it to look at the photographs and details written inside. He kept looking back to the wrists and ankles, the idea of restraints continuing to rise in his head. Why would one need to restrain someone? This is the question that became the most prevalent in his mind. Waiting for Ray's reply to his question, hoping that whatever Ray needed of him, it would help his own understanding of this unsubs actions.

Ray was trying to figure out if the profiler was profiling him or not, but he couldn’t tell - he isn’t one for a reason. Staring at the other young man with accusing eyes, he debated if he should let him in or not, “Uh-huh,” Ray said in a thought. Was he going to let Darin in or keep giving him that semi-stupid look that he fazed into?

Opening the door up for the other individual when it was stated that he got to play ‘boss’ till the others come back. “Really!? I get to be boss?” He couldn’t believe his ears. He was allowed to be the boss till the team got back, he was excited, but he was torn in thought about the case.
Clearing his throat, Ray tried to toughen right up and become ‘boss’, “First order, tell your boss about this case and what is happening. I know, I already know, but I wanna know what you know,” Ray had finger guns pointed at Darin while Ray backed out of the door to allow the comrade into the Ray Lair.
Practically running over to his desk chair, he hopped right into it, and turned on his stuff, “Leave the door open or close, your choice,” waving his hand in a careless way to state that he did not care what Darin chose.

Once the computer lights turned on, he quickly logged in, and he began to bring up certain tabs. “Is there any recorded evidence? Unknown DNA? Fingerprints. Maybe images of the criminal?” Ray started talking a million miles an hour while asking about the case and he was already trying to figure out if he could find a name to the unknown assailant.

Rarely did she get a look like that from Lucian, and she realized that she had definitely overstepped a line with her comment and closed her lips into a 'oh I messed up' kind of line and looked out of the jet window, deciding on keeping as much to herself as possible for a few minutes to just allow the poor man some space. He had to deal with all of them on an almost daily basis and she knew they were all a bit to handle- large personalities, different opinions, and sometimes unhelpful advice. They all had parts of themselves to work on and she was fully aware.

Placing her hands in her lap, she allowed her mind to focus on the task at hand rather than apologizing or making herself look bad in the moment. The case.

The killer.

The unsub was evolving an a strange rate and that was unsettling for Sam as her mind began it's typical journey of working through the unsub and their motive behind their actions. Less on the why they were doing this- and a little more on what led them to this moment, and what could influence a future incident. Women in the area were probably on high alert- especially blonde and petite which would mean a spree of women dyeing their hair darker colors. That would be a good place to ask around and find potential victims- who came in frantically needing a color change? Who came in suddenly changing their style and buying clothing a size or two larger than usual to hide their frame?

He was targeting petite women- someone small enough to overtake. But if was using force that would mean he was lacking in strength. That was something important to remember when building the profile- he needed an outside source to subdue and restrain his victims since he couldn't physically do it himself.

"Sir," she started, turning her attention to her superior, her tone eluding that she was thinking of work again and not something off topic. She was back in the game as they neared their destination. "There's no way he's someone muscular. He's using a physical restraint which means he's either unsure of his own strength- to doesn't have it to begin with. I'm not saying he's physically inept- but he's in some form lacking in that department." she theorized, glancing around at the team to see what they had to say on her theory.

Darin blinked as he looked at Ray, noticing how he was giving him such a strange face.... Why was Ray giving him this kind of face? Darin was now wondering why Ray was giving him this dumb look as if he had just insulted his family. Seeing that he had registered what he had said, now he was seeing the Ray he was ever so familiar with, excitable and ever so cheerful Ray. When he issued his first order as "boss" and let Darin in, afterwards closing the door, he rolled his eyes in a playful manor, as if he had been expecting such a response. It was now that he noticed that Ray was only just now turning his computers on, as if he hadn't been working already.... Why were they off if he was already here? Hmm..... Suspicious. Regardless, he gave an order so he opened the file once more to tell him what he knew.

"Well 'sir' as you must already know, there are two victims in Milwaukee Wisconson so far, both blonde, petite, Caucasian women. Both had been sexually assaulted, and bore lacerations around their wrists, but only one has lacerations around their ankles. They both were found at 3pm, the first near a local strip mall on a Wednesday and the second around a national park entrance on Sunday respectively. So if I had to guess, this unsub must have flexibility in their schedule, seeing as a body was left out on both a weekday and on the weekend. Unfortunately we have yet to get a report on the cause of death so until we learn that we can't confirm what the unsub used. I'm thinking that because of the use of restraints, the unsub is either physically unable to restrain these women with their hands alone, or its part of whatever fantasy they are envisioning. I wish it was as easy as getting a picture of this unsub, but unfortunately until we can get a report on the bodies and their conditions, we don't have much of anything for an idea of how they did it." Darin looked towards Ray as he began finishing up his thoughts, hoping that Ray listened to him and all his thoughts, considering he didn't have anyone else to bounce idea's off of, so for now it was just his mind working alone to come up with idea's behind the unsubs actions.

Chief Neagoe was not aware that he was giving Special Agent Stannis a look, and he probably wouldn’t know unless she brought it to his attention. Being in his own world, he was caught up in his thoughts about this whole case and everyone on it, or supposed to be on it.

Sir

Glancing at SSA Stannis, he appeared tired in a way, “Yes? ” he questioned in a deep voice that had the echo of patience in it. He knew she had something to say about the case since her tone of voice changed from the friendly mom to the semi-serious and thoughtful agent she was.
Thinking only for a second or two before replying, “That is a theory we will want to look into. I wonder if the medical examiner knows the cause of the lacerations or if this is still unknown,” he mentioned his thoughts about the medical examiner. There could be evidence of material that could lead them to the assumption of straps or bindings to be used.

Medical Examiner, earlier that day

The medical examiner at the Milwaukee police station gave their assumption on what could be seen by the eye. Dr. Bob Farley was the medical examiner for this station and he found a lot of important and not-so-important evidence as to who this unsub might be.
Faxing the file to Chief Neagoe earlier that day was probably the best they could do in the situation while letting the medical examiner dig up more information. While examining the bodies, Dr. Farley found out that the women were drowned, the cause of death? No, the cause of death was most likely the lack of blood from the lacerations on the wrists. Both women had an extremely low amount of blood in their system showing that they were drained to death.
Dr. Farley would assume that the women were drained to death of their blood before being merged into water which filled their lungs. Why would someone kill another person like this? This all happened after the multiple assaults on both women and at least holding them for 48 hours.

Once the team got to the Milwaukee station, whoever went to see the medical examiner would find the older man working on the second body. He was thoroughly going over the bodies at least twice to make sure he had gotten everything that he could to help the unit.

Grabbing the file again, Lucian could not help himself, he needed to look into it again to try and make more assumptions. Stannis caused a spark and he needed to figure out if her theory was getting at something.
Lacerations not only on the wrists but ankles as well.
Both women were dropped off in public, easy access locations at night.
Both women shared petiteness.

Either this was a woman attacking other women, doubtful, so they had to be dealing with someone that had to have strength issues. “Either our unsub is lacking in strength or he is handicapped in some way. He is dropping his victims off in easy access locations, they are both petite, and, as Samantha mentioned, they have lacerations on their wrists that could be an indication of needing help on restraining them,” Lucian stated to the team while glancing down at the file.

Over the single speaker in the plane, the pilot decided to pitch in and inform everyone that the plane was landing in 15 minutes. That he would appreciate everyone staying seated till further notice.

Someone help me!

Unknowing to the police department and the agents who were on their way to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The unsub was already at their twisted game, another petite woman was strapped down to the bed. Already having to go through the brutal process of what this unsub has done to past victims.
An unknown man walked into the darkened room, “Shhh. Shh. If you scream any louder, I am going to have to cut out your tongue.” he told the woman who was surprisingly younger than the first two victims. His first two were at least above the age of 30 to 35 and she was no more than 25 years old. Though, she shared a petite body, lush blonde curls, and blue eyes.
Instantly biting on her own tongue, she tried to not cry in this situation, but she couldn’t help it. “Please, let me go.” she asked and barely to the end of her sentence, the unsub grabbed a breakable item in the room before throwing it onto the ground. Causing the item to shatter into pieces. She couldn’t help herself but scream.
What did I tell you about screaming and asking me to let you go!?” he shouted. She began to repeatedly apologize and promise not to do it again. The unknown girl was trying to adapt to what her captor wanted.

҉Ray҉ ҉Hoffman҉

Ray and Darin were back in Quantico, fiddling in Ray’s little ‘office’, and his computers were booted up. Listening to the other agent explain the details of the case, he nodded his head, “Mhm…mhm…” nodding his head to let Darin know he was trying his best to give his full undivided attention.
So, I think you’re saying that I should be looking for cases that include petite, blondes, who have lacerations around their joints but are not limited to these factors. This means I should be searching for similar cases in Milwaukee. Got it.” Was Ray overstepping? Did he really listen to everything that Darin had to say and was he on the right path to find any past evidence that could lead to such an unsub?

Ray began to start his search for past Jane Doe or cases that were extremely similar to this one in the surrounding area. If he found nothing, he would end up searching a broader area before coming to the conclusion that the unsub might be beginning his hunts and rituals.

Chris Aguilar
Criminal Psychologist

Chris signed 'ok' with her hand to Lucian to confirm that she'll call for his help when needed. It was nice knowing that her boss has her back. It'll all depends on the situation when they get there though.

It was a pleasant surprise when Joseph defended her. Maybe it was because they were both on the science side and saw thing similarly. God knows how annoying it could be to talk logic with the other type. "Thank you." She made a small gesture to the old doctor. Being introverted aside, who doesn't like the feeling of confirmation and approval, especially when it came from a senior.

With the doctor on her side, Sam also quickly apologized for her overreaction. Chris didn't blame her, nor was there a right or wrong in this situation. It was just the type of person Sam was - always looking out for those around her. Helpful most of the time, but not the greatest mesh with Chris' late-occuring rebellious phase. Chris stared at the older woman for a moment, before nodding. "Will do." When the team started talking about the absent members of the team, the young psychologist's hand opened and closed a few times, as if about to do something. She didn't want Sam to be feel bad about what she said. She was the one of the few who kept trying to befriend her when most people had long given up with how closed off Chris was. In the end, her hand remained at her side.

Lucian's reaction to Darin spelt out a bad ending for her fellow newbie. It wasn't her place to comment on any of it. Work is work, and the boss is the boss. Although, it seemed like the long weekend had also taken a toll on Sam, with how much she'd misjudged the appropriate social distances already. Well, at least Chris didn't fall asleep in the bath or anything.

Sam brought the conversation back to the case at hand. She had a point. The lack of strength could explain the lacerations. Could he have targetted petit women for this reason? Does he have an inferiority complex over his lack of physical prowess? Assaulting these women would make him feel powerful. Military widows... Maybe revenge on his abuser who lost their life serving the country? To rape and kill the wife of his abuser - the need to feel power. What about abused by a family member? Oedipus complex in a military family? Spouse or love interest? A tragic love-triangle with a jock, a pretty girl, and a loser? Chris did consider the possibility of a female assailant, but so far the evidence leaned towards a male, especially the sexual assaults part.

The plane was now in its final descent. Chris tried to pounder more on the unsub and their victims, but the reality of her being out of the office started distracting her. She decided to give herself these moments before she needed to focus. All in all, she was rearing to go the moment they land.

Darin would listen to Ray as he recounted what he should start searching for. A good starting point he figured. "Yeah that sounds like a good place to start. Maybe tighten your search to include families with those in the military. This unsub attacked on Memorial day Weekend for a reason. So the military is involved in this unsubs personal life, whether they lost someone who was serving or once served themselves, something about widowed women with husbands who were in the military set this guy off." Darin added. He figured that it would be important to keep in mind that whatever the connection was, there was one between the unsub and the military and maybe finding that connection could help them catch this unsub before they can hurt anyone else in mourning.

He continued to try and think on this, maybe the unsub lost their father to the military and their mother shut down afteer that, no longer caring for their children? Maybe the unsub was in the military and while on deployment their family was harmed back home? Until more evidence came in, he couldn't confirm any of these thoughts and that bugged him. He wanted to be useful, and maybe if he could prove he could hold his own on this case, maybe he could keep his job when the others all got back! Though a somewhat greedy way of thinking, it somewhat motivated him to get into high gear and really begin thinking more on what everything in this case pointed too. And so once more, he looked to the case file and looked over each detail of the case and the bodies of the two women so he could maybe find something else to lead to another clue or idea.

Entering into the medical examiner's office, a wave of nostalgia flooded over Joseph. He could still remember his first day on the job while completing his doctorate. Feeling stiff from the flight, Joseph leaned more heavily on his cane than he normally would as he walked towards the medical examiner. Looking up from the second body, the medical examiner paused as Joseph looked behind him to see if Lucian had followed yet. Reaching inside his jacket, Joseph flashed his credentials. Responding with a knowing nod, the medical examiner motioned for the agents to take their own look at the bodies while he prepared any further findings for them.

The team had already come up with plenty of theories on why the unsub was carrying out these murders, but right now Joseph was more concerned with how. The report indicated that the cause of death was exsanguination. That was a very specific way to kill someone, and combined with lacerations made Joseph circle back to his early ideas about the deaths being staged to look like a suicide. He did have one pressing question though.

"Where's all the blood?" Joseph finally asked aloud, turning towards the examiner and unit chief. "The reports indicate the blood was drained before being submerged, so we know the blood wasn't in the water. Which begs the question, where is it?"

Pulling on a neoprene glove, Joseph held up the wrist of the nearest victim and examined the laceration's depth and width. Turning towards the doctor, he asked a follow-up question. "Do you believe these are from restraints, or is this an intentionally made wound? Secondly, are the lacerations consistent between the two victims or do they vary in depth? Is one set of lacerations cleaner than the other, deeper?" Joseph turned towards Lucian while he waited for a response.

Hopefully the rest of the team was making out well playing nice with the local authorities.

Ray seemed to glance back at Darin while working on the computer, he seemed like he wasn’t fully focused on the case, but he was trying his best. Starting his programs up, he was starting to research the parameters of people who lived in Milwaukee that served in the military that could have a shady background or recent occurrence in history, so far, nothing was seeming out of place. “I’m not getting anyone that looks out of place. Most of these guys that are ex-military with or without families have PTSD or something of the sort,” he mentioned while looking at his screen. A whole list of people was pulled up that he was investigating, but they didn’t seem out of place.

Glancing back at his coworker, Ray felt like anyone with PTSD could end up being the unsub in some way. PTSD combined with any other mental issues like delusions could be a breeding ground for violent outbursts. “I think I might need to wait for a bit more information,” he said while looking down the list.

After exiting the plane, it was straight to the medical examiner, since he needed to figure out the cause of death and what truly happened to these victims, Joseph Thoreau went. His background in medical knowledge was always wonderful while visiting the M.E. 's especially when they are voted onto the board.

”Where’s all the blood?”
“The reports indicate the blood was drained before being submerged, so we know the blood wasn’t in the water. Which begs the question, where is it?”

The medical examiner looked like a young girl right out of grad school, and she shrugged her shoulders. “All I know is what the field team told me. There was no blood around the bodies and what I discovered was that there was barely any blood in the bodies,” she mentioned while looking through the reports she wrote hours ago. She seemed to be trying to focus on the blood situation right now.
“In the overall report they gave me, there wasn’t a drop of blood around them. The only blood that was found was stained on them,” she gestured to the bodies.

Lucian wasn’t touching anything, but he was observing to see what the bodies looked like especially around the lacerations. They seemed to appear very similar, bruising around the places that were lacerated. “I cannot tell,” Lucian said since he didn’t want to make a judgment call. He looked over to the medical examiner, and she seemed to be flipping through her papers.

“Both of them had fibers, similar to what you would find in sheets, for bedding, though I would say both. I believe that he put restraints on them,” the medical examiner had gloves on and she picked up the one girl’s wrist to show what she was talking about. Pointing at the odd layers of bruising or tightened skin that was somewhat hidden from the laceration itself, “If you see this type of bruising is from fighting a tight restraint. While the lacerations have glass fibers in them,” she mentioned. The unsub wasn’t even using a knife to cut at the girl's wrists or ankles. “These fibers consist of each ankle and wrist that was abused,” she mentioned.

The Station & Officers

The police station seemed full of workers and a few individuals demanding answers since they recently lost loved ones. Officers were in different interview rooms with families trying to figure out why their loved ones would be targeted.

A lady came in right after the agents Stannis and Aguilar, she was asking if someone could help her. She seemed really ruffled up as if something stressful happened. “I don’t know who I am supposed to talk to, but I saw the local news station, and I believe that I witnessed someone being taken,” she was frantic.

An officer approached her to deal with the woman, “If the news is making you paranoid ma’am, you don’t have to watch it, but I will write down your statement,” he huffed out while pulling out a pen and small notebook. He appeared to have no interest in actually writing down this woman's statement.

She clearly could tell he wasn’t taking her seriously, “Young man!” she shouted at him. She was a petite, middle-aged woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, “I swear, I was almost kidnapped. I fought back and he ended up kidnapping this young girl since she saw what was going on. I think it's the guy that the news was talking about this morning,” she was visibly upset and almost shaking at her words.

“Uh-huh,” he stated while writing something down in his notebook, “Is that all? Are you sure the young woman didn’t go willingly with the man?” he asked since he was seeing if the woman was actually remembering correctly.

“No, she asked me to help, and I-” she seemed upset, “Nevermind!” she threw her hands up while beginning to storm off. The officer chuckled at this and then began to scribble through what he wrote down as if he knew she wasn’t telling the truth in the first place.

Darin would look over at Ray's work and what he was finding. PTSD, not a fun subject for anyone involved. Darin was thinking the same thing about it, how mixed with other mental illnesses or events causing dangerous situations. However that alone wasn't anything to go off and diving into. As much as he hated to admit it, it seems they would have to wait for more information from the rest of the team. He let out a sigh as he would take his stress ball and begin squeezing it periodically. "I guess so. I'll let you continue your work, I'll try to think of something to help in the meantime." It sucked that he was essentially useless here, but this was what he had to work with so he may as well try to make the best of it. Darin closed his eyes and tried to think on the case at hand and all its components. There had to be something he could put together while he was here.
