Long story short... After developing an idea with some frequent RP partners about a year ago we're finally moving forward with the game now that the timing is right. However, one player never got back to us and it's a crucial role. The game itself is centered around the old Charlton Comics characters that went on to inspire the Watchmen. The character we're needing the spot filled for is called Nightshade and if you guessed her powers had to do with shadows then you guessed right.
Here's the synopsis of what leads up to the RP....
After several adventures as the hero called Thunderbolt, Peter Cannon revealed his identity to the world that he secretly loathed. A society stuck looking down at their smart phones, fast food chains on every block, crooked world leaders, corporations getting away with murder… it all made him sick. Eventually he took the world and turned it upside down when he claimed to be the smartest man alive and disabled all of the nukes on the planet. People around the globe cheered Thunderbolt on for sticking it to the governments. After several countries labeled him a terrorist, the United States military gave orders to Captain Atom to take down Cannon in New York.
Despite law enforcement trying to evacuate the surrounding area, Thunderbolt supporters were gathered outside of his museum that doubled as his home and base of operations. Protests and riots erupted across the country within days after Captain Atom was forced to abandon his mission. How did somebody as human as Peter Cannon take down a walking nuclear reactor without even striking a blow? In the few moments Cannon was near the government’s hero, he merely stated that if Atom raised a hand several civilians would get involved. Then he warned that Atom’s only son would become a target, not of Thunderbolt and his followers, but the governments trying to use Atom. When the Captain called his bluff Cannon informed him “Mercenaries already tried abducting the boy from his adopted family two hours ago. He’s inside the museum.”
When Captain Atom questioned his superiors in the Air Force and got nothing he asked the President himself, and he played stupid as well. None of the hero’s contacts had any information about who went after his son. When all was said and done, only Thunderbolt knew the truth. Captain Atom chose a side and became a pawn of the smartest man alive. In exchange for power and energy to operate his museum base as well as his other HQ in Tibet, Peter Cannon allowed for Atom and his son [as well as the boy’s adopted family] to stay in one of his hidden retreats around the world.
As it stands Thunderbolt, Captain Atom, and a small army of followers have taken the governments of the world hostage. Aided by former superhuman criminals as well as a few would-be-heroes, the stage is set.
A super patriot. A femme fatale. A martial arts master. A humorous gadgeteer. And a man without a face... They're all that stands in the way of World War III.
Now here's where I *might* lose some of you. While its a very simplified system I've used at least a dozen times by now... the in-game combat will be stat based to add more weight to the situations. It's mainly there to keep smaller fights from dragging on for too long and it will also show the difference between a punch from Peacemaker and a punch from somebody else like the Question. The only other thing to note is that this doesn't take place in the regular DCU, there's no Superman or JLA... just us.
Also, I presume that the player that fills in has to play as Nightshade?
Sorta like D&D but super simplified. You only have 5 stats to play around with, and your Health stat comes from combining all of the other stats except one. I can link you to an older RP using the same system if you'd like.
And yeah, Nightshade is the only available character. Thunderbolt and Capt. Atom are both enemies, something will happen to E-Man in the beginning, and the rest of the cast includes...
The opening post of this OOC breaks down the stat system and also gives examples. Basic addition and subtractions skills are all that's needed. Check out the IC for some examples of them in-combat as well as the character tab for some of the stat cards I made for everyone.
Also if there's more than one person thinking about this spot, I'd likely have to put up a Character Sheet model to give everybody an equal opportunity. LMK if there's any questions about the stats!
Here's an idea of what the CS should look like. The rest of the cast will need to fill these out too, but I know they've written various versions of their characters and it won't take much time at all LOL.
Name: Alias: Age: Skills/Powers: Personality: [5 words best describing your character] Face Claim: BRIEF Bio: Additional Notes:
We'd love to get going ASAP but I don't wanna look super desperate and just take the first taker. It seems at least a few folks have peaked in so let's hear it if you're thinking about this!
