~~Nico~~

The entire situation was wrong, weird and uncomfortable. Nico wasn't emotionally mature enough to know how to handle it and no small amount of panic was racing through her. She tried to think of something, anything to get the other girl to step away from the edge. If it came down to it, Nico wouldn't hesitate to transform and jump after her, but Nico had no way of knowing if she'd even make it in time. She wracked her brain for a solution, but before she could come up with anything, the mysterious girl spoke up instead.

"... Someone came to stop me?" was what she said, unmoving from the edge. A brief silence, then "How did you know I was up here?" was the followup. Their voice was monotone, yet a hint of hostility crept its way in anyway. "I didn't tell anyone. No-one's supposed to know yet." she grew ever more insistent. "So how did you know...?" they demanded an answer.

Nico didn't know how to respond, at all. But she felt it- felt the aura of malice emanating from around the girl. Nico didn't suspect it, of course; or at least, she didn't suspect the girl herself. It didn't cross Nico's mind this could be some kind of trap, or how unnatural it all was. She just wanted to save this girl, because that's what she's supposed to do.

"I felt it," Nico answered somewhat honestly. She said: "Something inside of me told me something was happening here." and took a deep breath. "I followed that feeling, and now I've found you. There must be some kind of reason for that, so let's talk it out! Just, please, don't do anything reckless..." Nico pleaded. She didn't know what to say to this girl; they're strangers! It wasn't like Nico was unaware of how weird and suspicious she must've seemed, but what other choice did she have? She couldn't just leave, not when someone was in danger- in danger from themselves.

Kana quickly leaped over the the beam, using her superhuman physique to launch herself into the air. The white clad girl did not get caught off guard by it attacking even after it lost it’s upper half, as after the earlier experience with the other Shade, she was absolutely not going to let her guard down until she was absolutely sure that the enemy was dealt with.

The white haired magical girl fired out a water jet from her boots to push herself forwards in midair, soaring above the and beyond the Shade to get behind it.

Kana spun in the air like a wheel, before firing another water jet to increase her speed and momentum even further.”HYAAAAH!!!” The white haired swordswoman dropped down behind the Shade and unleashing a shout she brought the sword downwards using the combination of momentum and gravity to increase the strength of her strike, causing her sword to become a guillotine of destruction as she gave a shout as she brought it down on the enemy.

Abigail

"You can call me Abigail," the other girl said, looking northwards before crouching and talking to the dog. Not that Hisako would have all that much luck in following what was being said, with her already demonstrably poor grasp of English. Whatever it was she said, however, was clear enough to the furry creature: it cut off towards the side, going round to come at the shade, whatever it was, from its north.

Taking off in that direction, Abigail held her sword and explained the plan about as tersely as could be managed: "Either we get the shade from behind or it comes to us."

When the blue flames struck the immense frog shade in its inflated underside, it did very little in the way of actual damage. It seemed as if the shade's altered body shape provided it a little more resistance against such attacks. But, surprisingly, the attack was enough to slow the massive amphibian-like mass of negative energy's descent.

If Kokoha was going to attack, now would be the time.

@RolePlayerRoxas@Rune_Alchemist

"... I see..."

The girl didn't speak for several moments, her gaze returning to the streets. It was as if she was thinking about something, though what was difficult to say. Was it her desire to jump? Was she reconsidering? Or was there something else entirely on her mind, complicating the entire situation even further?

Naturally, without the capacity to read minds, it was impossible to tell.

But there was no denying what followed.

The white-haired girl's gaze returned to Nico. Her expression didn't change, her eyes still looked quite dull and empty, but she stepped away from the edge of the roof as she stretched her right arm out to her side.

"In that case... prepare yourself, magical girl."

The faintest hint of something coiling around the girl's arm was visible for only a moment.

"Mishaguji-san."

A black light flared across her arm and immediately traveled outwards, coating her entire body and seeming to burn away her clothing. It condensed itself, swirling as it manifested into a white kosode and hakama. The negative feelings emanating from her suddenly grew as her outfit fully formed, practically pouring off of her body in waves. A scale-like pattern had spread across her cheeks and up to her forehead, framing her now-golden eyes.

Thrusting her right hand forward, a yellow light ignited in her palm.

"Curse Essence: Bounty."

A wave of golden shapes, resembling large rice plants, sprouted from her position in an expanding wave, heading right towards Nico!

@Ammokkx

Even as the attacks were thrown towards it, the orange orb floating above the mantis-like shade's lower half was flaring up, charging another attack, aiming squarely at Ukiko. Even in this state, it seemed as if it was able to detect that one of its potential targets had been weakened by its initial attack.

But when the wisps struck the creature, the orb flashed again, a hairline crack running through its surface even though it appeared to be entirely composed of light and negative energy.

The mighty slash to its back half was the final straw. The shadowy portion of its body seemed to collapse, curling in on itself and spewing orange fluid, as the orb of light cracked and violently shattered.

All that was left, in a few moments, was a dark mist drifting into the air and dissipating into nothingness.

@Shiyonichi@LuckyBlackCat@FrogRFlowR@AzureKnight

Hisako could only watch for a few moments, in perplexed awe, as Abigail spoke to her dog. She'd never seen anything like it, she'd never known a magical girl that transformed alongside their real-life pet. She'd seen some who summoned a familiar alongside their transformation, but none whose ordinary pet seemingly had their own magical girl transformation.

But she understood the plan well, once the British magical girl told her. Coming at the shade from both sides would make it a lot harder for it to try and escape again!

It was a several tense moments before anything happened.

But then, it appeared. Roughly the size of a large car, it resembled an octopus in some regards. Its main body was a hexagonal shape with points one either end, each face lined with orange lights. At each of its lower corners was a tentacle, each bearing a squared-off tip. Currently, it was using two pairs to stand, the final pair raised in the air, lasing out in the direction of the dog that had been pursuing it.

"There it is!" Hisako immediately raised her broom, at the ready, "Let's finish it off!"

~~Nico~~

The stalemate was broken. After a bit of silence, the girl had finally decided to step away from the roof. Nico breathed a sigh of relief, thinking the situation was going to be okay now. "If it's okay with you, can I stay here a little longer? I want to know what was bothering you," she said to try and smooth into some conversation.

The other girl stretched out her arm. "In that case..." she said, pausing just long enough to let Nico see the flashes of something wrapping itself around the extended limbb.

"Prepare yourself, magical girl."

Nico yelped and jumped backwards a little, left to gawk in shock as the nature of the malicious aura finally made itself known. A sudden burst of energy- like the sun itself had dyed black- wrapping itself like flames around the other girl, completely transforming her look. Her uniform was re-forged into a Kosode, white as snow to contrast with the darkened light that had sewn it. The girl's face got covered in a scaly pattern, her eyes turned gold... and murderous.

"Curse Essence: Bounty."

With those few words, waves of golden energy sprouted from the girl's position. They arced outwards and shot towards Nico who, while managing to just barely dodge in time, was left to witness the impact of it digging into and crushing the concrete surface of the roof they both stood on. What's even worse, Nico hadn't taken that many steps away from the edge herself; the displacement of her jump caused her to be the one pushed right to the very edge. Since she had to dodge somewhat sideways, not just backwards, the drop behind Nico had no staircase to break her fall if she were to slip. She glanced down briefly, then back to the other girl. Nico was in shock from how fast it all happened, but her expression still softened a little once she saw the other girl. Nico, somewhat regretfully, said: "I'm sorry."

And then she jumped.

Nico closed her eyes and leant back, letting gravity pull her down below, her momentum rotating her so she'd fall head-first. To the other girl, Nico simply vanished over the horizon of the roof. A dull crash was heard a moment later, something heavy dropping down below onto the ground. The battle was over before it began; Nico deciding to end it herself rather than fight the other girl.

...but nobody really believes that, do they?

✫✫ Nico ✫✫

"Ooooone, two!"

Only about half a minute after Nico had jumped down, a new figure jumped up- though curiously, not from the same spot Nico had dropped down from. No, that was empty- no trace of her having been there other than the dent in the metal of the dumpster's lid below. The figure- Nico herself as a pink-haired, modern-day superpowered cat-schoolgirl hybrid- had come up from behind the snake-girl. She had to have transformed, looped around and climbed up the other way.

"Hi hiii, it's me~!" she said cheerily with a wave, making no effort to try and hide her being the same person as before. Nico then raised her arm as if she was in class. "Um, question! Why do we have to fight?" she asked, tilting her head curiously while her tail swayed side-to-side. Nico didn't make any attempt at attacking the other girl. After all, if Nico had so desired, she could've remained silent, jumped out behind the girl and gone in for a sneak-attack. Instead, this Nico simply stared at her with a smile.

...And, further, it didn't even sound like her voice had come from the direction she was standing in.

For a scant few seconds, when Nico threw herself over the edge, the girl let in a sharp intake of breath, eyes widening. Immediately her attack cancelled itself, the golden wave of energy vanishing, seemingly wilting and turning black before crumbling in on itself, as she took a step towards the opposite edge of the roof.

Before she could draw any closer, however, the now-transformed magical girl suddenly emerged from behind her, announcing her presence brightly and enthusiastically. The moment she heard the girl's arrival, the girl with the scale patterns on her cheeks spun in place and raised her arm.

It was briefly possible to see whatever was coiled around her arm again, the shape of something sinuous moving. It looked as white as the kosode the girl was now wearing, but its nature was impossible to determine before it was gone again.

"Curse S-..."

She cut herself off when she saw that the cat-themed girl wasn't attacking, her arm lowering somewhat.

"Why?" she asked, cocking her head slightly to one side, "I'm your enemy, that's why."

There was surely more of a reason beyond that, but if she would offer any clarification it was unlikely at the moment.

"If magical girls are miracles-"

She raised her arm again.

"-then I'm a curse."

Nico mimicked the other girl's confused head movements, still not moving from her spot. "A curse? That can't be right," she said, her tail swaying side-to-side. "After all, I don't like curses very much, but I don't think I dislike you at all!" she said with a beaming smile, before being blasted by the other girl's attack. Nico wasn't sent flying back or anything, though. As soon as the attack connected, her body frayed and unfurled like a loose bundle of string. The Nico that had been standing there was no more than an illusion while the real one still hid out of sight.

"Aaaah, wait wait wait just a little longer okay! I'll fight you if you want me to, but just let me say something else first! I'll even come out of hiding, forreal this time!" Nico shouted from her hiding spot, which really, was no more than the staircase she'd come up with in the first place. Before Nico jumped on top of the roof though, she stared at the phone in her hands and her message half-written.

[Neko-2]: I found the shade, it

She didn't have a lot of time to think on her next course of action. The smart thing would be to call backup, get a more experienced girl and take this new, unknown threat on two-on-one. But instead...

"...I can't just leave someone who needs help alone!"

[Neko-2]: I found the shade, its been taken care of!

Nico steeled her resolve and pocketed the phone, deciding to do it by herself anyway. Despite how hostile the cursed girl had been up to this point, Nico didn't hold any kind of grudge. Something was off about the situation, after all. And the girl... well, maybe she just needed a friend!

"Okay, I'm coming out now!" Nico yelled and jumped up to the roof again, perching herself on its edge. The other girl sure seem poised to attack, arm raised up and everything, but no golden beams were shot the magical girl's way yet. Taking it as a sign she could speak up, Nico put her index finger on her cheek.

"Sooo... I'm like, honestly pretty plain, not that good with my head, I haven't been a magical girl for very long and I'm kinda bad at this whole thing. Buuut! Even I can tell something must be hurting you if you're acting out this way," Nico began her speech, but was keenly aware of the hostile intent still radiating from the other girl. Whatever she said, it wasn't going to avoid the fight that ensued. "I don't really want to fight you, I don't think you're a curse or whatever. But I'll do it if you really want me to! Just... once we're done fighting, let's talk all about you, okay? I want to know more about you!" she earnestly said. And then, it was go time.

The young hero of justice got herself into a battle-ready pose, knowing that an attack was coming any second. Even if she tried to close the distance now and go in for a strike, Nico could never close the gap in time without getting blasted by some kind of magic. She just had to be on her guard and dodge. Nico crouched a little, shouted "Here I go!" and then kicked her feet off the concrete below her, dashing forward to the other girl. It was more of a feint, though, as Nico was keenly watching where the girl would strike. As soon as the attack came out, then she could dodge the other way. After that... well, she'd think of something!

Out of the corner of her eye, Ukiko saw Yui rush to her side, translucent daisies forming under her feet like midair stepping stones. Uttering a slightly awkward incantation, the other girl summoned a flower stem that coiled loosely around Ukiko, and bloomed into a pink tulip when it reached the wound.

Ukiko grimaced. "It's ok, it's not that bad," she insisted, even though the slightest movement caused a fresh flare of pain. She was supposed to protect and assist others. Not be a burden who made them vulnerable. Even so, Yui persisted with the healing spell, the burning sensation fading as the singed patch became smooth, undamaged skin. Once it was complete, the charred hole in her sleeve was the only sign she'd been hit at all.

"Thanks though, and yeah." She flexed her arm, feeling not even a twinge. "That's some neat magic there! Now, let's finish this thing off." Stretching out both hands, she unleashed a flurry of wisps around Burabura's energy stream in an all-out attack.

Just when the orb glowed in preparation for another laser beam, a crack ran down its surface as if it were made of glass. All it took was a sword swing from Kana, and what was left of the shade imploded, shadowy matter collapsing in on itself in a burst of orange fluid. The orb shattered, fragments fading as they rained onto the street.

"Whew!" Once she was sure no energy signature remained, Ukiko grinned around at the team. "I knew it was nothing we couldn't handle!"

For a second, even Burabura's ragged mouth raised in a smile, although it wasn't long until her face grew serious again. "Shades sure seem to be getting stronger-bura." Her eye swivelled towards Quant. "Any idea what's causing it-bura?"

"Why am I being left to finish it ooooff!?" Kokoha shouted, the giant frog being slowed just enough for her to get into position. "Fine then! Guh, you'll see what a cute highschool girl is capable of! Here I go~!" As the Hermit lent her its power, Kokoha would swiftly dodge completely out of the way of the frogs descent, turning right on a dime and still holding Justice in her hands. With a leap high into the air, she'd aim for the frogs eye. Her feet slammed into its body, soon followed by her impaling the sword inside it.

"Hup~!" In another swift movement, Kokoha would pull the sword alongside the frogs body, intending on creating a large gash on it before leaping away once more, intending to land on its back so she could stab it again and attempt to give it a death by a thousand cuts.

Himeko, who is helping

"You got this, girl~" Himeko cheerfully encouraged her partner, satisfied at a job well done. The frog was surely helpless against those brutal sword strikes! Her own meagre attacks would just be adding unnecessary cruelty to this life-or-death battle, at this point. Gohei in hand, the two-tailed foxgirl approached with a bright smile, admiring the damage Kokoha had dealt to the pitiful monster, "...My, my, no wonder they don't give the girls on TV sharp objects! It's really quite a messy ordeal..."

Twirling the ritual tool, the gohei glowed briefly and began to shrink once more, returning to its previous form of a tobacco pipe, placing it to her lips. Strange, blue smoke wafted from it before Himeko continued, "Still, way better than me, at least! This poor fox can only throw a few sparkles and hope for the best! Ahh, woe is me..."

The girl's hand tensed slightly as Nico spoke. She didn't speak, and indeed she didn't move. Not to attack, nor to lower her guard. Instead, she was simply quiet.

When Nico was finished speaking, bending low and breaking into a sprint, that was when the girl finally responded. Indeed, it seemed she bought into the magical catgirl's feint entirely.

"Curse Essence: Bounty!"

The rippling wave of gold spread across the ground, the 'spikes' flowing as if carried in a breeze as they spread across the rooftop towards the other girl. And yet, Nico's footwork was plenty swift to avoid being struck, allowing her to avoid the wave of magical energy. In spite of its resplendent appearance, the attack felt strange, dark, as if something wicked was lurking in the golden field of rice.

It withered and blackened, as the 'curse girl' turned to follow Nico's movements. At this point, thus far, it appeared that she was not a physically capable fighter, given how little she had moved.

But since she had only used a single attack, there was no way to be certain.

The white-haired girl brought her arms together, hands clasped together with the left stacked upon the right, aiming towards Nico.

Then she opened her hands, as if emulating a gaping maw.

"Curse Serpent: Frog Eater!"

Suddenly, the image of an enormous snake appeared before the magical catgirl. It was pure white, with gleaming, crimson eyes. Beyond its head it simply faded into nothingness, but when it opened its mouth it gaped wide enough to engulf an entire human being, fangs extended as it prepared to bite down...!

@Ammokkx

There was an almost comical whining sound when Kokoha's sword struck the over-inflated frog in its enormous belly. Rather then the orange, blood-like fluid that usually filled Shades, a rush of air exploded out of the creature's belly and struck the magical girl head on, with enough force to knock the average person off its feet.

All the air it had used to inflate its body to such sizes suddenly rushed out, and it shot in the opposite direction, slamming into the wall with enough force to send cracks spiderwebbing through it.

Its belly now completely deflated, the twitching, amphibian-like shade looked rather hollow now, one large leg trembling in the air for a few moments before the creature went completely still, sagging limply.

Soon enough, it was dissolving, breaking down into a shadowy mist.

A shard of pure starlight pierced through the night sky, flying in a straight line between buildings towards the rooftop Nico was fighting on. It struck the eye of the snake that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere and pierced that too; the image began to disperse, then fell apart completely as a second shard impacted a moment after the first.

“POW! Nailed it!”

Half a block away, Shun lowered her bow and turned around with a bright smile on her face and an expectant glint in her eye. “Did you see that? Hey! Where did you go?” The rooftop behind her was empty, so she hopped down from the edge of the building and went in search of her missing audience. “Here kitty, kitty, kitty.” A soft meow from the left had her turning again to see a black cat staring at her with an unimpressed expression. Shun smiled again, striking a pose with her bow and flashing a victory sign with her other hand. The cat flicked its tail, but otherwise ignored her.

Shun deflated.

“That’s it? Come on, you dragged me all the way across these buildings to this fight and we made it just in time. The least you can do is loo-hey!”

The cat stood and leapt off the building. Hurrying to the edge, Shun looked down onto the see the cat staring up at her from the next roof over. Shun looked back, gazing into oval pupils and feeling herself gradually lose the staring match. She raised an eyebrow. “You want me to go over there? I fight better from a distance you know.” The cat turned to leave. “Alright fine! I’ll follow you. Stupid, bossy cat.”

"Nyahaha! I'm the best!" Nico gleefully shouted as she tip-toed around the golden waves, playing herself up to be the invincible heroine. "Too slow, too slow!" she shouted while continuing to dance. For as much of a mockery as she made of it, though, her earlier assessment still stood: she can dodge, but not close the gap. Every time Nico got a little closer, she was forced to jump back in equal measure because of the following strike. Weaving around her opponent's attacks did let her catch onto something, though; there was something else at play here. The other girl wasn't alone. Nico could see it, vaguely, slithering between the gold; a snake with its gaze locked onto her, waiting to strike... its eyes full of malice.

"You're my target, aren'tcha?" Nico thought to herself. She jumped back after another attack, raising up one hand with an open palm. "Is that all?" she playfully asked. Nico winked, saying "If you don't watch out, I'll catch up in-" to her opponent, but as she was speaking, the other girl cast a new spell of her own.

"Curse Serpent: Frog Eater!"

The giant head of a great serpent, scales as white as the attire of the girl who summoned it, popped up above Nico with its mouth agape.

"...no time..." she finished her thought in a low, scared voice. Nico wanted to dodge backwards, but she knew as soon as its mouth startd closing in that there would be no escape. And instinctually she knew that, having let her guard down, this single attack would be more than enough to put her out of commission for this fight... or worse. Nico closed her eyes, but opened them up again just as quick when a bright flash and loud crash pierced her eyelids and ears respectively. The snake's eye had been struck, its whole image dispersing in the night sky along with the brilliant light of the arrow that had fired into it. The cat fairy had no idea where this shot had come from, but she didn't let the chance pass her by. She was already poised to jump; with a quick shift of her foot Nico pushed her momentum forward instead, conjuring pink claws at the edge of her fingers.

"Please let this hit!"

Our local ally of justice knew one thing: the cursed girl's arms were the key. Every time she'd attacked so far, that girl had extended, raised or pointed her arm. The ultimate attack required both. Therefor, whatever was giving her power, it had to be located there. The shock from having her move broken allowed Nico to get a single hit in, striking at the location she thought she saw the snake. Nico did hit something, but couldn't confirm if it was a barrier, the girl's arm or a lucky strike on her actual target. As soon as she had, Nico jumped back; partially because she didn't want to leave herself open for a close-range counter, but also for one more reason.

"I don't need the help," she muttered to herself in a low, but frustrated voice. Nico wanted, no, needed to do this by herself. There was no point otherwise. She wanted to understand the other girl; only the two of them and nobody else should've been trading blows! The heroine could already tell so far: There was hesitance from the scaled girl when attacking Nico. No matter how expressionless her face, she couldn't hide those shaky, tense movements. It all but confirmed to the magical girl something that she'd suspected from the start: Something was hurting the cursed girl. And the cat fairy was going to find out what it was...

...as soon as the other girl had made her next move, at least.

Yui could see past Ukiko's bravado, but once the spell was done the Phantom magical girl would feel pretty relieved. The younger Yui was somewhat impressed by Ukiko's ability to seemingly wave away any fear, doubt or even pain. It couldn't be healthy, for sure, but she couldn't help but think that it made Ukiko seem tougher.

Yui stepped aside, holding her bellflower-wand tighter as her fellow magical girls attacks went off on the Shade in a grandiose display or fire and magic until the Mantis monster was no more. She couldn't help but feel sad at the life that ended. Yui couldn't know for sure that Shades were alive to begin with, but seeing anything disappear in such a way didn't feel right to her. When she made them dissipate through her "Devotion" ability, she at least had the luxury of imagining they went away peacefully.

But, that small note of sadness came and went as Yui stepped back up to Ukiko and Kana.

"I wish I could help but...I've only started about two weeks ago..." Yui answered to Bura-Bura as they grouped up.
"I'm glad we managed to get it, though. It was bigger than anything I've met so far. That was kind of...scary..." she said trying to laugh at off a bit at the end as she scratched behind her head.

"You two were impressive though! I didn't know things could get this flashy!" she added, all smiles, until "Oh!...You too Bura-Bura! I think it's very nice of you to help Ukiko-senpai with all that. Hana isn't as chatty as you, so I was surprised!"

Then Yui had a short pause before sheepishly adding; "So...Can I stay with you guys... for tonight?"

Moments before the gaping jaws of the serpent could slam down, it was suddenly dissipated, its form twisting around the bolt of starlight before breaking down into scattering white and black mist.

The white-haired girl was taken aback by the sudden disruption of her attack, briefly glancing in the direction the bolt of light had originated from.

This distraction was the perfect window for Nico's blow.

Something was struck.

There was a strange blue-grey flash from the point of the magical girl's impact, and a sound like a ringing bell. While it didn't appear as if the girl took the hit to her right arm directly, she most certainly felt something, gasping and staggering backwards, set off- balance and forced to catch herself.

But for a few moments, it was hard to tell if there were any other effects from the blow, as the girl took a step back and her gaze returned to the feline magical girl.

Then, something suddenly stirred on her arm, the semi-visible coils wrapped around it writhing in a frantic fashion, almost seeming to distort and warp for a moment. She let out small cry, her left arm clutching at the right as she fell onto one knee.

"..."

She took another step back as she forced herself back into her feet.

"... We'll meet again."

With that, she threw herself from the rooftop, backwards.

Even if Nico rushed to see where she fell, she would be gone.

Nico was... concerned. Whatever she had hit caused more pain to the girl other girl than Nico had intended, or even wanted to inflict. The heroine wanted to reach out and ask "Are you okay?" but she never got that chance. The cursed maiden simply declared the both of them would meet again, throwing herself off the edge in the same fashion Nico had earlier. Alarmed, the cat-girl rushed forward to try and catch the other. She dashed to the edge of the roof, too late to catch her quarry, and peered over the horizon. Below were the usual streets of Shinjuku, no girl in sight. Nico searched for a little bit, to no avail. She stepped back and mused on the slightly dour feeling that seemed to wash over her in that moment.

"When we do," Nico muttered to herself, "I'll be there to listen to your story."

Nico's musings on her possible fateful encounter were cut short when she was startled by a nearby meow. She peered down at her feet, finding an all-too-familiar black burmilla starting to rub itself against her leg. The still-transformed girl crouched down and scooped it up, face a little frowny as she let it gently bite her fingers. "Sheesh, you again...? Why do you always know where I am?" she complained, but her protests rang hollow as a soft smile belied how much seeing this dumb cat cheered her up. It was then Nico noticed the presence of another; particularly, a magical girl just like her.

"Oh!" the feline heroine cried in surprise. She didn't expect there to be another person. "Whaaa, you surprised me... and here I thought I was alone for sure up here!" Nico tried to play it off with a joke. Though she couldn't emote very well due to the needy little critter in her hands, Nico could still put up an energetic charade and say: "Are you the one who ka-plow'd that snake right in the eye? Thanks for that! I think I might've lost an arm, or a leg, or a head if you hadn't, miss... err..."

Nico may or may not have forgotten who this person was or is. If she ever knew in the first place, anyway.

"Sorry, sorry- I ain't great with names and faces... and socializing... I'm, uh, Nico! Kaneko Nico! And you'reee...?"

Kana landed like a meteor, a spiderweb of cracks formed where she landed as her blade cleaved through the Shade and imbedded itself into the ground kicking up dirt and stone as orange liquid splashed upwards like a geyser, before dissipating with the rest of the Shade. The white swordswoman pulled her sword out of the ground as she then twirled it around before resting the blade on her shoulder.

“That’s gonna be sore in the morning.”

Kana grumbled as she looked down at her legs. Cracking her neck, she made her way back to the rest of the group as her sword dissipated, the great blade being broken down into blueish white sparks and dismissed until the next fight it’s wielder was inevitably going to involve herself in. As Kana came up to the rest Quant came out from his hiding place.

“Whew, I’m glad that went well, it doesn’t seem like anyone was hurt.”

As Kana reached the group, Bura-Bura asked a question about increase in stronger Shades. The two of them paused having a indescribable expression on their faces, both of them were thinking about a specific Shade and a memory neither were happy to run back through. Kana quiet took deep meditative breaths to calm herself down, even Quant needed a moment to pause and recover.

“I’m not quite sure about the increase in Shade strength, it might be related to some kind of recent social issue. Maybe a mass layoff or some kind of tragedy?”

They weren’t exactly sure either, neither of them were exactly keeping up with the news for their own reasons and Kana was in the same boat as Yui was, she was just as new to being a magical girl as her, so she would have just as little understanding of Shade activities, even if she had spent a disproportionate amount of her time dedicated to wiping out a significant amount of Shades, Major and minor. Both of their thoughts were interrupted as Yui asked a question.

”I suppose that wouldn’t be a bad idea, though I will have to ask if either of you possess some kind of motorized vehicle or other methods of transportation on the same level, since we might have to adjust our own area of patrol.”

Kana let Quant do the talking, he knew more about this then she did, even if they had only met recently, she already possessed a good deal of trust in the fairy and she supposed it wasn’t too bad of a idea to have more back up… it was then Kana had a new question of her own, she was a bit too concerned with the Shades and Quant being caught to have it cross her mind before, but it did now that everything had calmed down.

”Before we continue this… Have either of ya heard of an eight headed Shade?”

"Guh-!" Hit with the blast of air, Kokoha would guard herself against it, though it really didn't bother her too much. It was more annoying more than anything, what with it messing up her hair and everything. "Ugh, finally..." Kokoha's shoulders would slump slightly as the thing would finally start deflating, but she'd quickly straighten her stance. Wearing an energetic grin, in sterotypical magical girl fashion she'd strike a cute pose. "Ahem - I mean, and that's a plus one for the good guys! Way to go me! Such a shame I had no help whatsoever! I'm just that awesome even if I'm totally mostly support~"

The highschool gal would turn towards her 'ally' in the fight. She wasn't too familiar with this particular magical...fox? She seemed to behave like a useless old lady from what she had observed. Would it have killed her to not leave killing the frog up to her? She barely had enough fire power usually to do much on her own, hmph. Well, at least it was over with.

"No really, would it have killed you to do something else other than make my life hard?"

Shun Nakano

The fight was over before she needed to fire another arrow. The cat-earned magical girl she was here to help used her distraction to strike at her opponent, who then decided to flee rather than stick around to deal with the two of them; well, she assumed them jumping off the building was them fleeing. The alternative was a little dark, so she hoped that’s what it was. Come to think of it, why were two magical girls fighting each other in the first place? Was that normal? Were they rivals?

For that matter, had she even helped the right person? She’d kind of just jumped into the middle of things without thinking it through, firing an arrow at the first evil-looking thing she saw; that was usually good enough. Shun hoped she hadn’t just made some kind of mistake by getting involved in this. If she had, she was blaming it on the cat.

Speaking of which…

By the time she made it to the roof where the fight had taken place, the cat that had led her to this point had already nestled itself in the other girls arms and forgotten about her entirely. Dumb feline; she saw how it was. The girl in question was undoubtedly another magical girl like herself, what with the ears and the tail and the fact she was so sparkly –shiny and pink that you could see her from space.

“Hey, nice to meet you.” Shun gave the girl a big grin and held out her hand for a handshake. “You can just call me Shun.”

The girl was younger than her, she just realised. Or at least she looked it at the moment; there was no telling what she looked like without the transformation. Her own transformation didn’t alter her appearance much other than to change her hair colour, or at least she didn’t think it did, but who knew if that was typical or not. She was still new to all of this. “Nico… Nico… Neko… oh! Croquette girl!”

"Shun... is it?" Nico repeated after the other magical girl, staring down at the extended hand. It's not that her new feline themed friend didn't want to shake it- it's just that a big, black and fuzzy creature occupied both of her hands in the moment. Nobody ever has to worry with Nico though- she always had a solution! Magical girls are stronger than the average girl, so with a little bit of nudging like:

"C'mon, enough playing around. Up you go~!" she managed to convince the cat in her hands to climb on her shoulders instead. "W-whoa you're heavy-" she commented, still managing to get slightly off-balance from having the weight of an entire adult cat pushing down at a slight angle. Once she steadied herself, Nico finally managed to return the handshake to Shun.

"I'll be relying on you from now on, Shun-senpai!" Nico enthusiastically said back to the other girl, but when this new Senpai started repeating her name a couple times, she dealt a devastating blow to Nico's self-identity.

“Oh! Croquette girl!”

Such a brutal, precise strike. Nico, reduced to being associated with a mere food item. Her tail drooped, her shoulders slumped and her cat complained because it nearly slid off. "I'm ruined... I exist only to satiate the hungry bellies of the people around me..." Nico theatrically acted out, pretending for a moment she was actually, genuinely hurt. It didn't last long though; she sprang up soon enough again with a goofy smile.

"No- really, though, it was pretty obvious huh? Y'know that name- Neko-2? It's- it's like a pun. My name is Nico, right? Like that uh... the ani-chara, the one that says "Nico-nico-nii". So y'know... 2, as in, "nii", and neko... neko-nii... I'm funny."

Nico sniffed. Once.

"Anyway so here is my number-" she continued, pulling out her phone to start a private chat with Shun's screen-name (which she totally guessed at random but based on context clues could've only been 'Starry-Eyed'). "Here is my cat-" Nico said as she picked the burmilla up from her shoulders, then shoved it into Shun's arms to both her and the creature's confusion. And, finally, she finshed off with: "And here are my goodbyes! Let's get croquettes some other time~!"

With a final wave and a wink, Nico theatrically jumped off the building. A dull thud followed up by an "Ow!" came from that direction, followed by a decently bright light as the girl untransformed. Nico was surprisingly quick to flee the scene- call it the nerves kicking in- but if Shun peered over the edge, she could at least still see a dumpster with two dents in it.
