@RezonanceV Good to see that you are still here! The character banners is how I keep track of who that is sort of active. I'll just add you back when I get home. You are good to post. It's still easy to insert yourself.
I'll start off with @Krash: Your writing is absolutely on point...
Imma be real this made me a little uncomfortable hahaha. Thank you very much for the kind words, I appreciate the recognition tremendously. I've almost always enjoyed writing and, right alongside it, have almost always had nagging self-doubt and imposter syndrome which makes for a nice combination. I do admit that I'm right alongside you with Aeolian; I am quite jealous of how well they manage to maintain their own autonomy within the story. Both following the plot while also both having and pursuing their own goals makes for a much richer story and has always been something I struggled with.
Even if there's only one post so far, I know a few things about you to make a some comments here. I think you've reached the zenith of your forum writing—that balance between full-on 18th century and contemporary prose is so sweet that I actually get a taste of vanilla and raspberry in my mouth. I absolutely adore your take on present tense to the point of having to actively resist doing it myself. After all these years, you remain the single best writer I've ever met on the internet. I've tried to imitate you so many times—you won't believe—and every time I've felt guilty and ashamed for trying and thinking that I'd be able to replicate what you do. And then there are your characters—oh boy. They're always so flowery, rich, high concept, and full of depth and meaning. Funny thing, after I saw the image for Scylla, the model you use began to appear on my pinterest—spooky.
Ok, I have a post in the works and since I couldn't sleep I decided to add Aaron's thoughts about the team to my sheet. I now present, the thoughts of a sarcastic dick,
H E L E N A " D O V E " W E S T E R L Y - "She seems like a sweet girl, a bit simplistic and naieve, but sweet none the less. I've seen her in and about Medical and she seems genuine in her desire to help and heal, not sure how she's gonna survive in combat but I suppose that's what the rest of us are for."
E R R I K O S "C O N D U C T O R" R I G A S - "Ya know, I don't think that I've ever dealt with the old man before. Seems like he'd rather be in a lab somewhere or maybe be anywere else but where he's at. Gotta say though, I don't blame him. There are days that I'd rather be off on a beach somewhere than dealing with the crap the UDF gives us."
L I A M "S P I T F I R E" O G A T A - "I swear that I don't understand these flyboys. Ok we get it, you like to tinker on stuff ya glorified grease monkey, flying is one of the greatest experiences we humans get blah blah blah. I swear NavDiv are simple people...although I have to admit, they look happy. Liam seems like a good kid, a simple grease monkey may just be what we need nowadays."
E M I L I A "G A R U D A" L A N G E - "Now here's a soldier that I don't mind hanging out with. Gar may be quiet and easy going but she's got a great sense of humor that makes her leaps and bounds above her compatriots in WarDiv. Heh, Leaps and Bounds. I wonder how her knees take all those landings, they hurt me just watching her land."
R O B E R T "F L Y B O Y" H E R N A N D E Z - "If there was every a person who just exudes the "If I'm not in the air I'd rather not be here" it's ol' Bobbert. The man is always trying so hard to be deep but we all know the only thing going through his head is getting back up in the air as quick as possible."
V I C "B L O O D H O U N D" G R I N Z - "I may make a lot of jokes about a lot of people, but there isn't a single one that fits Vic. He's a soldier that's seen some stuff but still continues to fight for "King and Country" as it were. I tell you he's a better man than I am, I haven't seen half what he has and I want to leave now. Between Gar and Blood, I'm sure glad we got these two on our team."
E U N - J I "A M A N I T A" P A R K - "I don't know what to make of this one. She's defenitly got the drive and ambition to do whatever she wants, but R&D can't be trusted. She works with fungus that changes other things into muties and she's allowed to work with a team like ours? With her level of expertise who's to say she wont snap on day and use her knowledge on a major city center? I've gotta keep my eye on this one."
I S O L D E "B E L L A D O N A N A" F E A T H E R S W A L L O W - "If the mushroom girl was bad, this one is worse. Isolde Featherswallow, IntDiv has a file on her a mile long and this isn't accounting her slew of "UNFORTUNATE" marriages. This woman's research is something that gives me nightmares, she can pretty it up all she wants about finding a cure or whatever, but I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her. To top it all off this woman is ruthless, her sugary extirior doesn't give light to her true nature, just ask her son."
I F A N "Z E M A T" F R A N K S - "Man what is it with the old guys and their complete lack of wanting to be left alone? I thought NavDiv were a more jovial people, this guy just gives a grumpy old man on his lawn. I suppose it has something to do with his stint in WarDiv but I don't know what to do with all these geezers in the team, guess bed times gonna be early huh?"
M A T I L D A "M A L" R E M N A - "Ooh, look out it's a scary soldier lady with punk rock hair. Heh, but serious this woman looks like she would smash my face in with litte to no effort, which sure makes me glad that as long as she's got her eyes on a mutie or a bad guy my face will be the last on her mind. There seems to be something more to her but like most of WarDiv, she's gotta wall up and it's one that I'm not sure I wanna climb."
S C Y L L A "L E V I A T H A N" F L E U R A N E - "Man, WarDiv has a thing for recruiting pretty girls huh? Gotta give the boys something to look at I suppose. I have a feeling that this one is more of a political recruitment given her liniage, I mean why wouldn't the UDF bring in a literal princess to join a special warfare division? The PR alone could skyrocket public opinion. As much as I run my mouth, they wouldn'y make someone a Dragoon for nothing. I need to keep my mouth shut or it wont be the muties that get me heh."
T I T U S "B L I T Z" P H O E N I X - "Finally someone with a word-vomiting problem like me. Blitz sounds like someone that I can get along with; he's witty, sarcastic and a bit of a know-it-all. whats not to like? Well besides that temper and his "I hate the world" attitude it sounds like we'd be best buds. Honestly though, between you and me, how does someone get called the Anarchy King? I'd bet he'd be one hellova time at a party."
@Archangel89 Wow! Look at that. That's amazing. Great initiative! I'll certainly make room for this kind of stuff after we survive the customary brick wall we ran into called 'summer'.
@metanoia Not at all bad. Finally some action! I'm glad we're getting some posts, at least. I'm updating the character banners with names, so I'll start adding new ones to character as people post. Here's yours:

Oooh! Love that! When I saw yours, I considered making my own but now I don't have to!
Okay, reality check. I realize it's the middle of summer, but I gotta beat this horse so it doesn't completely die. I'll move us forward to some action in my next post. Transitions aren't super fun to write, really, so I don't want that to keep anyone back.
@metanoia Let's continue the comments here. I still have your old name printed in my mind, for some reason. Anyway, you know you're good, I know you're good, everybody knows it. But, there is just something about your posts that is high tier engaging. This flow you have between dialog, description, and narrative is uncanny—especially when you use NPC interaction. You also seem to balance yourself out very well in regards to the type of character you write for. The collection of tropes in your character could easily get out of hand in the wrong hands, but it really shines in yours. Your writing is also on point. I mean, it checks all the marks, all the tricks, all the flavor.
We are good! Unfortunately, right after having followed up on my last OOC check-in, I got smacked by a virus/bug of some sort. Did not test + for COVID, but I was decommissioned Sunday-Wednesday. I am catching up on all of my obligations, including this, thank you for the friendly nudge.
@Prisk - aww. Priskins you warm my heart. This is incredibly touching! You well know that I've struggled with my writing for quite some time, always worried about being too much or being not enough. I've long idolized the narratives and stories you design and have happily been apart of so many! I've created some of my best characters for your plots, so much that they are forever "canon'd" in some of my writing out of TSW!
I'm officially back from vacation, which was heavily needed, and I worked it out to have a nice little weekend at home before returning to work. So, I'm working on a post for Scylla. Given that we need to get things rollin' I can push some of the narrative in that direction with just enough filler and Scylla musings so it's not too drab.
Definitely gives off Big Mom energy lol. While I write my post I had a thought, as far as I know I am the only Aeon from IntDiv and as I was writing I figured that Aaron would have some info beyond what is commonly known to the group about the group (since he's a bit paranoid lol). My question to you fellow writers, what is something Aaron might dig up about your character? For the sake of story telling (and only if you want to of course) PM me something interesting he might know. It can be major plot related or not and anything in between. This is of course purely optional and was just a fun exercise that came to mind.

Some days I think about my old username too . Even to the point where I think about going back to good ole, reliable Altered Tundra (without the space because the Guild's coding around usernames is weird). But at the same time, I feel like I've become fully comfortable in my new identity.
But thank you for all the kind things you said! I go through my own days where I doubt that I hold a candle to some of the writers I write with. Or maybe my language isn't as good as some others, but it's nice to hear it every once in a while. :)

I found this on pinterest, randomly! Pretty fucking close, eh? Wolf's head biting a sword.
@Archangel89 This is yet another great idea! I'll PM you in a little bit with something. Also, you need a little bit of GM-knowledge about the immediate plot, so that you can converse about it in-character.
