Jack: Billy would have been insistent on staying in her ever shifting circle of friends. I'll leave it to you how she took that.

Sara: Freshman year, Billy for his part is still transitioning from church going band geek to goof-off theater kid. They were dropped off at the mall by their respective parents(maybe her brother was secretly tasked with keeping an eye on them, under the guise of hanging out with his own friends). There just wasn't any chemistry, maybe this is when Sara started to realize she wasn't into guys.

Billy's parents asked "what happened to that nice Sara girl?" for years after.

Mier: Billy would be decent to him, but probably didn't have a lot of interest or common ground to form any real friendship

Natalie: Billy was well liked, but in high school that's not the same as popular, and for the most part they didn't really move in the same circles. They did, however, follow each other on Instagram, and actually still do(though, for his part Billy is only vaguely aware of the fact).

Melanie: Billy and Melanie seem to be pretty self involved, but in very different ways. I think they likely had very little to do with each other, though Billy probably attended exactly one(1) dungeons and dragons club session.

Oleander: I think Billy would have taken kind of a shine to him, but probably expressed it through a lot of teasing and good natured jokes. If Oleander put up with this long enough, Billy probably would advance to openly flirting in senior year(when Billy at least was out as pan at school).

Marco: If you allow, I can see Billy being one of Marco's few close friends, at least until Marco started to kind of drop off. Unfortunately, Billy probably didn't keep up with him as well as a friend should(granted, senior year and after graduation he definitely had his own drama going on).
I can see a friendly rivalry through underclass years, them being two of the school's biggest musical talents.

I think most characters here would at least recognize Trystan at a glance, as while he wasn't that much of an attention seeker, he is still known as a guy that gossiped about scandals lmao

By the way, does the old class have a group chat in Messenger or anywhere else?
I'm guessing something like that was how this reunion was organized to begin with. Also Trystan definitely spams it with memes.

Oh right. Basically jack made a Facebook event to RSVP to this reunion to open a time capsule of whatever your character decides to put in. It was meant to start at the bar to raise spirits and say a last hurrah to Ritman before it perished. It was sent earlier in the year and then another reminder 3 months prior and then the day before. There’s a group chat for the event. So yes is your original answer.

EDIT: The old cast has some rapport built in the bar scene so some of them are still there. But the new people would have forgone that in favor of this clean open.

Meir was another victim of bullying, something Oleander just couldn't stand. He stood up for Meir once and got socked in the face for it. After that, they formed a sort of semi-friendship-acquaintance thing. But mostly, it was Meir tutoring Oleander a few times a month as thanks. They never got around to really becoming friends though, unfortunately, since they never hung out beyond those tutoring sessions.

Billy was probably one of Oleander's very few best friends during high school. They were wholesome and affectionate with each other. Billy craved the spotlight and often attracted attention with his bigger-than-life personality. Being an emotional sponge, it wasn't surprising that he fell for Billy's charisma and musical talents. But Oleander couldn't reciprocate Billy's flirting during senior year and simply wrote it off as nothing more than his usual teasing. In truth, Oleander wasn't out and he didn't want to jeopardize their friendship.

What Oleander always liked about Sara was that she was reliable. While he was emotional, she could stay level-headed and calm no matter what. This made her seem wise beyond her years and someone Oleander could often confide in for advice and thoughtful opinions. She kind of felt like a big sister or older cousin kind of figure to him (also bonded over the whole immigrant thing too).

There is very little that Oleander can remember about Jack. She was so aloof and never around very much. Her apathetic nature made it difficult for him to connect with her. As someone who is heavily influenced by the emotions of others, her general disinterest ultimately would bury any semblance of a potential connection between them.

Oleander thought Melanie was really cool and they got along well. They weren't friends per se, but they were always friendly. He almost envied her in a way. She was athletic and smart, things he was not. They shared a few classes together throughout the years and worked together on a few group projects. Oleander often thought that if he were more like her, then maybe his parents wouldn't be as disappointed in him.

What is it with Oleander and falling for musicians? In truth, Oleander had a crush on Marco throughout all of high school. Marco was his first crush in fact, but Oleander, being in the closet, only watched and stared from a distance. He even had a whole love diary with things about Marco filling the pages. Oleander has since lost his diary, but even as Marco came to school less and less, his crush never wained.

Oleander was never really familiar with Dante, but he thought he was nice. Also, super smart, which seemed to be a recurring theme at this school. Oleander liked the fact that he always passionate and full of big ideas. He thought perhaps Dante was the rubric for how he should be. In any case, Dante is one of the few people that Oleander follows on social media. He was intrigued by the latter's courage to transition after high school. He hopes to talk to Dante more in-depth about accepting his own truth.

Oleander had a negative impression of Natalie in high school. Even if she wasn't the one who did the bullying most of the time, he could never understand how she stood by and let her friends treat other people so terribly. If they were bad, then she was bad by association and for being an enabler of their behavior.

Oleander always felt bad for Samuel since he was bullied for being overweight. But the lad was different; not in a bad way, but in a way that made others feel a bit leery and uncertain about him. Oleander wasn't often one to judge, but when his mother picked him up after school one time, she told him to stay away from troubled kids like Samuel. So, under the 'wisdom' of his mother, he did as such and kept his distance.

People used to say that Trystan liked to stir the pot. Oleander wasn't sure how true this rumor was, but it's not like this was the first time a rumor spread about him. He seemed to know about every scandalous affair that went on in Delton, that didn't particularly paint him in a positive light. Oleander stayed out of his way, as not to get dragged into the rumor mill by proxy.

Give me like an hour to recover from the trauma of waking up and I’ll come back with some thoughts.

Billy probably was the closest to being a friend to Sam.
handing over his clove smokes to the relentless boy, always reluctantly - almost annoyed, even. Why couldn't this kid just leave him to his brooding swing sets in peace. Till one day Billy plucks out his ear-buds and they share a playlist for the entire lunch hour, and he smiles. It's a little bit endearing and it's a small-budded relationship, but Sam appreciated the effort none the less. Every so often their songs cycle through the speakers in Black Arrow.

im down for that dynamic for marco and natalie. he'd definitely benefit a lot from her protection—especially post-diagnosis, when his confidence would have been a lot more fragile. marco would have been pretty intimidated by her at first, then surprised when she expressed genuine interest in his art. After the initial shock, though, he'd respect her—though he'd keep her distance for both their sakes: marco not wanting to draw any attention on himself from natalie's fellow mean girls, and not wanting to jeopardise natalie's reputation in case she was seen being too friendly with someone outside the popular circle.

he'd have an instagram she could follow: scrolling through his posts would be like a timeline of his condition's progression, beginning with early selfies and portraits of his beaming, younger self, before gradually transitioning to simplistic videos of his piano playing, first showing nothing but his hands and then obscuring both them and his face. it'd still be up in the present day, though his posting's probably slowed down significantly.

@Gisk marco definitely would have taken a shine to billy—he'd be instantly infatuated with anyone that took music as seriously as him. they'd have naturally crossed paths with their involvement in the school shows, and it wouldnt have taken long for marco to get attached (possibly beyond platonically? though marco would have kept that to himself) to billy from there.
their friendship would have ended pretty quickly after marco's condition started to worsen, though: billy not keeping up with him would combine with marco intentionally shutting out a lot of people he knew before his diagnosis as his personality and outlook on things began to shift, so they'd likely have lost contact before graduation.

present day, marco would probably be a little embarrassed meeting billy again, given how quickly he withdrew from their friendship. if he finally opened up, though, he would definitely go way too hard on the musical analysis of his band's discography.

as for the rest of marco's relations, today's been pretty busy and it's pretty late by my timezone. i'll try brainstorm some ideas for tomorrow, but in the meantime, anyone can feel free to hit me up if they've got something in mind for how their character felt about/interacted with him.

@udonoodles So it might even be that Marco, Billy and Oleander actually hung out a lot as a group(depending on what udonoodles writes about Oleander). I feel like it would have been almost like a love triangle, where nobody was willing to actually make a move.

Good call on the hider. As far as the getting there I want to say it's walkable, but I'll have to ask nodogs. Otherwise, we most definitely drove drunk, how drunk each of us are is up to us no?

She'd probably throw in a couple of comments here and there herself, but surely not as nasty as racial slurs. However, that laxatives stunt would've been fucking hilarious to Natalie. Or, it was, even if she didn't know who caused it, because she likely knew the guy it happened to fairly well, if he was a jock/sports guy. If Trystan ever reveals that it was him, he'll definitely score quite some points with Natalie.
