Happy Sunday from the cargo bay!

Looks like our "Redemption Road" caper is now in full swing.

Cal, Hook, and Yuri have gone to hang with the hipsters at The Underworld to get on the same page with Sister Lyen. Abby took advantage of not bein' seen to crawl down memory lane and check out China Doll's possible hiding places. And Quill? Despite her better judgment, she's massaging her connections to grease the wheels of justice.

To refresh memories, we're in Capital City, on Osiris. Our next official stop is Pelorum...but things happen, copy?

Everyone is encouraged to jump in and help the crew get ready for this job. If you're looking for a way to insert your character, just drop me a PM or chat! We can brainstorm some great ideas that help you into the fold and push the plot forward.

Hope everybody's having a great weekend. Beautiful weather here in ATL, which might force me from my subterranean lair into the outdoors to repair the mailbox some local kids decided to smash. Ah, the joy of teenage years, lol.

Happy Sunday from the cargo bay!

Episode 4, "Redemption Road," is pushing toward Day 2, when our intrepid crew begins to sneak folks out of the blackout zone. The plan seems pretty good, and even The Sister has signed off...but now Yuri's not so certain there aren't eyes on them. Watch your step, people!

As of today, I'm aware of 2 JP's in the queue.
1. Alana, Abby, and Yuri are at a souped up, central planets medical center to get his arm mended and to erase Abby's bruises from her rough ride with the bikers.
2. Hook and Sister Lyen will begin their work inside the BZ, which might also include the exorcism of a few personal demons.

If anyone else has a post in process that requires either a little help or for us to slow the clock, just let us know. We're glad to help!

A closing thought: "Motion is the lotion." Though often used by fitness gurus to get slackers like myself off the couch, I find the words equally meaningful as they pertain to growing your character within an RPG environment. We had a happy dearth of writers join the game during the summer, many of whom have dropped off the radar once Labor Day was behind us. It's no problem; we've held from the beginning that FFF2V is a game for adults who have real life commitments. However, I will add that if you're struggling to find a place for your character within our plot or crew dynamic, all you need do is reach out. I'll be more than happy to brain storm solutions with you.

Just remember that to be involved, you have to get involved. Writers who don't make an effort to engage others and join in the plot will eventually fall into the "out of sight, out of mind" category. We want you to enjoy your time in FF2V, and to that end we're glad to help you ramp up among the crew. If a character doesn't get written either in solo or joint posts, that character simply doesn't grow. Come on and fly with us.

Happy Sunday from the Cargo Bay!

DAY 2 of our time on Osiris has officially begun. Alana hauled Abby and Yuri to a mighty fine central planets med center to erase her bruises and to mend his arm. Good move, since both have got parts to play in the upcoming caper.

If everything goes as planned, we'll see Hook leading our first bunch of refugees out of the blackout zone. If we keep a low enough profile and just look the part, chances are we'll get 'em all out, right under the noses of slavers and the Alliance. A pretty neat trick, if it works. And Cal wants it to work. Thanks to Quill, he might just have an ace up his sleeve. He might need it, since Edina and Yuri discovered that a cop might be nosing about.

It's October, and all of us are getting pretty busy. As participation is flagging a bit, I'm going to rev the throttle on this episode to get us off Osiris and on our way to Pelorum. While there will be one or two central plot points there, it's largely a "vacation" free for all episode in which your characters are free to run and stir up their own particular brands of trouble. As a reminder, Wolf is still on a well deserved hiatus (he sent me a pic the other day, posing with Sherpas at Everest Base Camp!) So, while he's adventuring I'll continue to fill in for Cal. He is, however, writing cameos for Sister Lyen, so we'll see him off and on throughout this episode.

Another reminder is that there's plenty for everyone to do in the current ep. If you're reduced to writing "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," time and again, I've got two suggestions:

1. Get out of that hotel before it's snowed in.
2. Shoot me a PM or catch me in chat. I'm delighted to brainstorm with you.

I spent yesterday helping my youngest move, so today I'm stiff, sore, and trapped in the office to do the bidding of my corporate masters. Feel free to reach out if you've got ideas you want to see come to light.

WWIF,

sail

Howdy Crew,

I'm dropping a note here as an update on my hiatus.

The update is...

It's over! I'll be easing back into the role of Cal, and as things stand, I wanted to say thank you to all of you for your support and to Sail for keeping the wheels on this bus. I am behind on a couple fronts (I need to get two CS's up, one for Lyen and one for SAM who feels awfully neglected), but bear with me!

I hope you're all well and I look forward to seeing you all on the board.

Kind regards,
Wolf

Happy Sunday from the cargo bay!

Yes, we have a mechanic. Please welcome Elias Riemen and his writer, @bugman, to the fold.

And Wolf made it official. He's concluded his hiatus and is back in the saddle as well. Welcome back! (We won't go into the reasons for his return. Something about a passport being held by Guatemalan authorities and a midnight boat that just barely got away, but who am I to spread rumors?)

Final RL news of the week is my vacation. We're leaving today for a beach house in my personal shangri-la. With that in mind, my responses could be sporadic, but I do see opportunities to keep writing during the week.

We floated a crew wide JP idea yesterday that I'll try to have invites created for by tonight or tomorrow, debauchery schedule notwithstanding. We've also got a couple crucial scenes coming up that involve your characters, so we'll be reaching out to trade ideas.

But now it's time to get packed (i.e. yank clothes from dryer and unceremoniously stuff them into my suitcase. Hey, it's vacation! I'm not sweating the wrinkles.) Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Hey @Bugman how's it going? I just noticed you joined us when you made that post over 3 weeks ago. Welcome to RPG and FF2V! If you want to collaborate on a post, let me know. Joe Hooker is a deck hand and works as the ship's cook.

Happy Sunday from the cargo bay!

It’s the final day of a much anticipated vacation, which means I have errands to run before reentering the world tomorrow. I did manage a couple tags this morning (Elias and Alana, you’re up!), and will have things for Imani and Hook when I get home this afternoon.

I also wanted to say that you guys are really rocking the JP! I thoroughly enjoyed reading all your work this morning. Your characters have all offered such great voice to receiving our first batch of refugees aboard China Doll. I can’t speak for the Captain, but his first mate is proud of this crew.

But now, it’s time to get busy. Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Hey Bugman, I think both your responsiveness and Elias' responses have been great.

We interact in a few different ways in FF2V:

1. Individual posts.
2. "Back and forth" posting between writers.
3. JP (joint post) collaborative posts involving groups, or in this case, the entire crew and newcomers.
4. Something we haven't explored much is live IC chat, but as this crew develops Wolf and I are both keen to have some live sessions around the galley table.

Our writers all seem to enjoy the JP/collaborative post style, as it gives opportunities to engage in a large group post, regardless of your time zone. It also suits the episodic nature of the game, allowing us to create the scene and write our way through its' conclusion.

We hope you're having a good time, and are all looking forward to much more from Elias. Don't forget to engage us all through Google Chat (I think Wolf sent you an invite?)

Yeah, the joint posts just progress differently to what I have done prior. Regardless, I don't see an invitation to the google chat in my email or the chat in my list of google chats
