I am currently in the process of brainstorming ideas for a Total Drama roleplay and was curious to see if there is an audenice here for such a roleplay. The
Total Drama Series is, as defined by wikipedia, an animated reality television series which lampoons the conventions commonly found in reality television. I want this roleplay to focus on its comedy aspects with original characters, with the expection of Chris, Chef and a few others. This way you will not need to have any real prior knowledge of the series to play.
Just like in the tv series, all characters will be "animated teens" that are competing to win 1 million dollars by submitting themselves through comical/torturous challenges designed by the show's sadistic and narcissistic host Chris Mclean. Challenges may be for "reward" and/or immunity from being voted out. I have thought up a couple interesting ideas so far for this roleplay:
-Weekly Confessionals that only voted out participants can view.
-Voted out players do not leave the game. Instead they stick around to assist Chris in causing drama and choas amoung the remain contestants, and help in torturing or assisting other players during challenges.
-Voted out contestants will be given chances to get back in game or influence outcomes through other means.
-the ability for contestants sabotage other players without knowing who did it. (You'll be informed of all sabotages after getting voted out much like with the confessionals).
-Players may be allowed to play as Chris McLean's fabled interns
-Players may rp as the bear or the Yeti, on and off.
-All contestants will be in their teens and will embody a certain Archetype (Exceptions to the age range will be based on a character's archetype. For example anyone who decides they want their archetype to be a Manchild can make their character be in his twenties)
I'm still working out the details for how things will work, and am open to suggestions. Below is what I have so far:
This roleplay of Total Drama contains scenes of teens doing extreme stunts performed by animated teens in literature. Do not try any of what you read here at home. Seriously, you could get really messed up.
Prologue:
“Did I ever tell you I love my job?” asked a dark haired male to a Hispanic intern, whose name and age the dark haired man did not know. The intern didn’t answer. He seemed to be more interested in the giant cloth covered cylindrical object which his fellow intern, Garcia, was carefully crawling into. They didn’t know why the dark haired man wanted Garcia to crawl into this strange object, but they did know food was involved!
The Intern’s stomach growled audibly at the thought. The dark haired man, Chris Mclean hadn’t fed the interns for what seemed like weeks! Usually Chris would taunt them with food and make them compete in ridiculous challenges for a slice of bread. But this time things were different. All they needed to do, was crawl into the dark cramped cylindrical object and they would be feasting on… what did he call them? English wasn’t this intern’s first language... peanuts… yes peanuts! They would be feasting on peanuts tonight! The interns didn’t know what peanuts were, but boy did they sound good!
“Hey, Intern!” Snapped Chris successfully drawing the Intern’s attention away from Garcia. “What did I tell you when you came here?” The Intern stared blankly at Chris not understanding a word he was saying. Chris hadn’t seemed to figure that out yet that English wasn’t his first language. “Nothing? Really? It was in the first line of your contract, man. Rule number one of working for Chris: Lissy while Chrisy is Speaky.” The Intern continued to stare. “Understando?” Asked Chris impatiently; not really understanding that not all Spanish words end with the letter ‘O’.
“Que?” Asked the Intern, unsure of what Chris might be asking of him.
“Greeeeeeat…” Exclaimed Chris sarcastically; mistaking the word ‘Que’ for ‘Kay’ “I’m glad we finally have a mutual understanding, bro. Now listen, because what I have to say is always important. Because I’m awesome… and famous… and rich… and… well… because I own you. It’s all outlined in section 5 of your contract, Jose. -- That’s your name, right? Jose? You look like a Jose- yeah, I’m going to call you Jose. You’ll make a good Jose.”
“…Que?” Repeated the Intern even more confused than before.
“You’re right, Jose! Jose is an okay name. Not a great name, like Chris Mclean, but an okay name. Only great men, like me, deserve great names, like mine.”
“Q…que…”
“Yeah, yeah. I know Jose. I know. Off topic, off topic. But could yah blame me? I mean I aaaaamm me. But anyway as I was saying…” Chris paused as he pulled the cloth off the cylindrical object. Underneath was a giant cannon aimed straight at a moth eaten mattress hanging precariously from a single elongated stake nailed onto the side of a cliff. Jose was taken aback by the sight. Did this man seriously have Garcia willingly crawl in a cannon? “As I was saying,” Chris said again smiling sadistically as he lit the fuse to the cannon, “I love my job.”
A loud Boom sounded from the cannon drowning out the screams of a surprised Garcia. The cries ended abruptly with a splat as she rammed into the cliff side just centimeters away from the mattress.
“Hmmm…. I think we may need to add another mattress, Chef.” Said Chris tapping his lip in thought. No sooner had he said that then did the single hanging mattress fall into the lake below. “Uh… yeeeaaah… Make that two mattresses.”
“Ooooooo, That looked like it hurt.” Exclaimed Chef from behind Chris. “You think she’s alright?”
Chris chuckled at the thought “Heh heh, oh Chef,” He said with a wave and a smile, “No.”
“Alright then, I’ll just bury her with all the others. You want me to go and get Jose? Looks like he ran off on you.” Said Chef pointing towards the woods that Jose ran into.
“Nah.” Replied Chris. “This challenge seems safe enough. Besides, if he dies who else will I have to wash my clothes?”
“Nobody if he runs away.” Replied Chef before hearing a roar, followed by blood curling scream, coming from the direction in which Jose ran off in. “Or gets eaten by the Yeti.”
Chris frowned. “Hmmm… Probably should have warned him about that.” Chef just shrugged not really caring.
“Well, that does it then.” continued Chris, “Looks like we are ready for-”

Initial Ideas Brainstormed By Me:
I want the confessionals to act as a means of informing the "audience" what your character's true intentions/plans and as a portal to your character's inner thoughts about current/recent/past/future events. My initial idea is to have confessionals be private to contestants until they get voted off. Once voted off your character will then be granted access to all confessionals allowing them to learn about other characters' dark secerts. Additionally, it will give your characters the knowledge of who betrayed who, which may in turn make your character wish to seek vengence (creating more drama and/or chances for comedy).
I like this idea of keeping confessionals private, although I feel like a good amount of the fun of this rp may come from reading the confessionals. This is where your input comes in. I want to hear what you all think I should do. would you rather I keep them private, availible to everyone, or both?
Confessionals will be seperate from the actual RP. So I'm thinking making one big google doc (or something else) for all of them.
Sabotage has played a huge role in Total Drama mainly due to the series villains being... well... villainous all the time. Sabotaged has ranged from destroying property of other contestants to sabotaging equipment used in challeges to even obtaining access of secret camera footage of other characters. One of the most important things about being a sucessful villain in Total Drama is making sure that your character does not get caught, because if you get caught, you get voted off. This is why I feel that sabotages should most definately be kept private to everyone still in the game. It will help maintain an air of mystery and will prevent rpers from worrying about some other contestant magically finding out about their villainous methods.
Here is my current thoughts on what the steps should be for a player to commit an act of sabotage:
1) The player must pm me what they plan to do and how they plan to accomplish it.
2) I will give them the ok for whether or not I deem their plan acceptable.
3) If I deem it acceptable, I will make a note of the act committed and who did it.
4) I will then alert players what has been sabotaged. I won't mention who did it.
5) Players will then incorperate the event into their future posts.
Players may commit an act of sabotage whenever they want, however just because I keep their request private doesn't mean I will always allow them to get away with it. Based on how often a character commits an act of sabotage I may decide to make a contestant become a witness to the crime. Just how much that witness has seen will be determined by me. Witnesses will be informed that they have witnessed a crime anonymously, which will open several new strageties for playing the game, such as allowing player to frame other players by pretending to have witnessed a crime. On ocassion, a witness will be provided with evidence to back up the claim.
Much like with the confessional, after getting voted out, players will have access to the document listing who has commited an act of sabotage.
